Shaina Hurley’s Brave Battle with Cervical Cancer During Pregnancy: A Love Story of Hope &

I'm Shaya Hurley known from love is blind and today I'm sharing a deeply personal journey of survival and Hope just 3 months into my pregnancy I received a life-altering diagnosis cervical cancer like any expectant mother I was filled with joy but then came an unexpected call from my doctor your papsmear results are abnormal we need to schedule a coloscopy they said the results of that procedure were daunting I was diagnosed with Stage 2 cervical cancer and the doctor recom recomended a cold a cold knife conization to assess the Cancer's spread while also considering the immense risk to my pregnancy the cervix is what holds pregnancy I thought and at only 3 months along I fa the harsh reality of potentially losing my baby as I navigated this difficult decision with my husband Christos who I married in July 2022 we struggled between the resilience of my pregnancy and the threat of cancer my doctors explored Alternatives and while recommended a laparoscopic surgery I was determined to keep our son safe they hadn't found cancer in my lymph nodes but they still advised chemotherapy but I stood firm and denied it I felt like I was their most challenging patient but I was Resolute ultimately my doctors suggested delivering early at 32 weeks but I pushed it to 37 and 1/2 weeks in February I welcomed a healthy baby boy yorgos David into the world feeling overwhelming gratitude ude however the challenges didn't stop there just 2 weeks postpartum I suffered from a mini stroke but thankfully I recovered without lasting effects I underwent a cold knife conization procedure but unfortunately it didn't eradicate the cancer leading to a second attempt that proved successful as of June I'm I'm finally cancer free I declared however my journey to Healing continues with checkups every 3 months Christos and I are eager to expand our family but understand we must wait a year after my last surgery to ensure my health for now my focus is being the best mom I can be and taking each day as it comes for those who have followed my journey on Love is Blind thank you for your support I hope to inspire others facing their own battles with this story remember even in the face of Darkness there is always light on the other side
