classes S1 to S10 sp1 to sp9 sm1 to SN 10 physical impairments there are 10 different sport classes for athletes with physical impairment numbers one to 10 athletes with different impairments competed against each other because sport classes are Al allocated based on the impact that impairment has on swimming rather than on the impairment itself to EV EV uh evalu the impact of impairments on swimming classifiers assess all functional body structures using a point system and ask the athlete to comp complete a water assignment assignment the total number of points then determines the athletes s and sp sp sport classes due to the difference Demand on S and S SP events swimmer are often allocated different allocated different s and SB sport classes the SM sport class is calculated from the S and S SP Sport class um sport class uh s 1 sp1 SM sm1 physical impairment S1 is for swimmers that with highly affected coordin o coordination on Co coori on uh of the Torso arms and legs sp1 is for breast stroke swimmers with high affect coordination cordination c c coordination of the tors torso arms and legs sm1 is for medly swimmers with highly affected coordination of the Torso arm and arms and legs sport classes S2 SP2 and sm2 physical impairments S2 is for swimmers with sever severly reduced coordination in the body uh legs and hands and who have low low arm strength these shimmers shim through the water using power generated mainly by by using the forearms and shoulders s SP2 is for press Strokes with seever severly impairment coordination in the body legs and hands and a slight impairments of the arm or for those with a similar impairments but have a moderate with but with a moderate moderate impairment of the arm this shmmer swim through the water using power generated mainly by using the forearms and shoulders sm2 is for medling swimmers with sever severly reduced torso legs and hand coordination and low arm strength these swimmers swim through the water using power generated mainly by using their forearms and shoulders sport classes S3 sp3 and sm3 physical impairments they need to have a an assistant with them to help them get in and out of the pool they start they start in the pool and need help with the start it's because an assistant need to be able to hold their hands at the start they can also start lying on the back and then and then an assistant holds their feet against the touch pad sensor S3 is for Shimmers with coordination affected to the low degree in the upper torso and arms with the rest of the Torso and legs highly affected and those with a low overall impairment plus the ab absence of Limbs these swimmers maintain a good body position solidly using their arms and upper body sp3 is for breast stroke is for breast stroke swimmers with coordination affected to the low degree in their upper torso and arm with the rest of the Torso and legs highly affected and those with the absence of Limbs these swimmers maintain a good body position Sly solidly using their arms and upper body most with breast stroke affect alternately to keep their hand head Loa and bring their hips closer to the surf to the surface swimmers must show intent to move s SYM symetrically C symetrically even if their arms and legs are not are not of even length as M3 threee is for medling swimmers with coordination affected to the low degree in the upper torso and arms with the rest of the Torso and legs highly affected and those with absence of Limbs these simmers maintain a good body positions so solid solidly using their arms and upper body sport class as for sp4 and sm4 physical impairment S4 is for swimmers with high body and leg movements which also affect the hands or where limbs are absent these shimmers generate the majorly major majority of their power from their shoulders as before is for breast stroke swimmers with moderately impaired coordination in their hold body or a large amount in the Torso and legs these swimmers have difficultly maintaining a good post postery posture po posture or swimming at and maintaining balance while swimming through the water sm4 is for medlink swimmers with severly reduced redu it the body and leg Mobility it also affect the hands and or where limbs are absent these swimmers generate the the majority of the power from the shoulders they use an alter breathing pet pattering P pattern pattern to maintain the body position high in the water and turn mostly with their arms with little or no kick from the wall Con coming from their legs sport classes S5 sp5 and sm5 physical impairment S5 is for Shimmers with motivated impaired coordination midbody and leg movements or where limbs are absent these swimmers have difficultly holding a good but position or swimming straight through the water sp5 is for breast Strokers with high mobility in the lower body and legs those with DWF fist or those with no limbs these swimmers find it difficult to maintain a cons consistent swimming speed because of the way power is designed to exchange arm power and leg power in their breath Strokes sm5 is from medly swimmers with moderately impaired coordination mid body and leg movements or absent limbs these swimmers have difficultly holding a good body position or swimming straight through the water Cort policy or CP S5 sp4 S sp5 sm5 sport classes S6 sb5 sm6 cable feet sport classes S6 sp6 and sm6 physical impairment the S6 is for Shimmers with moderately impair impaired coordination on one sides which has a strong impact on the lower body and legs those with dwarf wi or those without a limbs these swimmers have difficultly holding good body positions or Swim straight straight through the water SP six is for breast Strokers with moderately impaired coordination on one side which has a strong impact on the lower body and legs um those with dwarf Vis or those Without Limbs these swimmers have a last power and strong balance in their hands tws have better balance but are greatly affected to the Great in extent with their ability to transmit power into the water to of due to the length of their limbs and greater resid reiz stains all have difficulty maintaining a good body position sm6 is for medling swims with moderately impaired coordination on one side have very SE sever sever sever lower body and legs impairments those with dwarf fins or missing limbs these shimmers have difficultly holding a good body position or swimming straight through their water sport classes S7 sp7 and sm7 physical impairment S7 is for swimmers with low
