update. >> Thank you for joining us here tonight at seven. I'm Kelly Vaughen And we start with that next weather alert. Check out this video just in to our newsroom showing storm damage in Southfield. This is around ten Mile and Northwestern Highway area. You can see utility poles snapped and wires hanging low to the ground. Traffic lights are also out in that area. So some things right over to our bag and our next weather center is tracking all of this. >> You have these severe storms of course rolling through this afternoon feeding off of that heat and humidity that you could feel with the heat index more than 100 that every single one of our recording sites this afternoon just like a shot in the arm for the line as it moves in. >> You can see where those storms are moving east. We only have a couple of spots right here in Lenawee in Monroe County still dealing with storm activity. What is nice is that within this spot we no longer have any warnings active. The main severe storms are moving south of the line. That is great news But still even though Lenoir County is not warned you have a ton of spots within here with a large amount of lightning just within that Lenoir County area 188 strikes within the past five minutes. That's an important note and we have a lot of power outages and that goes hand in hand with this. See the difference between negative and positive? That is the type of lightning strike that causes outages. The more of those positive ones that we have, the stronger the severe storm, the more likely it was on the upper end of the scale and the more likely you can get new outages from it. So that is of concern of course as we go on later into the evening but still up to the north as well. I want you to pay attention to this because even though the main line is passed, if you're heading out to do cleanup in parts of Oakland County or McComb County as well. Look at these new lightning strikes within the past couple of minutes. The line is gone and yet you still have some lightning left over on the back end of these thunderheads. You need to be careful if you're heading outdoors. We still have that lightning issue going later into the evening. So that's something we're going to watch closely here as we go further on into the rest of the day. Now the good news is that the watch in Washtenaw, Wayne McComb and St Clair counties will likely be allowed to expire or actually be canceled early compared to going all the way up until 9:00. >> Leno and Monroe will likely go hand in hand along with that. The other part of this as well is that the storm activity overnight will also likely be much lower if it even gets a chance to happen before 4 a.m. at all. Tomorrow's another hot one though. We have some pop up spots tomorrow so we need to be watching for that activity once we get later into the day for your Wednesday. So again be fueled by a chance at more of that heat outside the we're in the 70s but still getting a chance to start to warm because we're not done with the evening just yet. >> Mount Clemens back up to 74. And remember we have a lot of power outages out there. So all that heat along with those outages are going to make some major issues going toward th
