Chase senior you're watching the San Francisco 49ers report by chat sports appreciate all of you for making Today's show a part of your day and also on the Todays Show show I got creative this morning I completely nerded out I'm sitting on my porch I'm drinking some coffee I'm listening to the birds chirp the sun is coming up because I woke up early because I was ready to get after it beautiful blue skies and the creative part of my brain was working so I put together 10 different offensive line combinations that the Niners could go with in 2024 stay tuned to find out what those combinations are which one the best is for San Francisco going into this upcoming season first we continue May Sub Battle to do our May sub battle between two rival channels inside the walls of chat sports and two Fierce Rivals inside the NFC West Seattle Seahawks today the 49ers report now over the last couple of days we have been able to pick up some ground Seahawks today though still with the lead 377 subscribers picked up this month the 49ers report 253 I think that we can overtake Seattle I mean come on now the Niners have dominated the Seahawks in recent memory let's continue to do that in the NFL but also here at chat sports as for that Major Lineup Change major lineup change that could be on the horizon I'm excited to talk about this today because the real ones know that I've been asking for this ners team to improve their offensive line at right tackle they've continued to ignore that position but could they upgraded a little bit could the Niners plan on benching Colton mckivitz and starting the recently signed Chris hubard who San Francisco picked up in free agency earlier this week here is why it could Chris Hubbert happen hubber played really solid in 2023 for the Tennessee Titans he was put on IR later in the year but he's fully recovered from a triceps injury it's a common injury for offensive lineman given how they use their upper body and their arms and it's unfortunate for a team that has Super Bowl aspirations the options at right tackle are extremely limited you have hubard mckivitz and then Brandon Parker who is not a starting offensive tackle in this league but mivit struggled mightily as we know in 2023 and Hubbert a very serviceable and experienced 10-year veteran who last year put up better numbers and played better than Colton mckivitz in case you Who is Hubbert don't know who Hubbert is is this is why you watch the show and subscribe because we keep you informed on this team better than any other YouTube channel and we like to entertain you and have you a part of the program as well Hubbert is a 10-year veteran he's a little bit older 33 years old but as we know offensive lineman can play in this league for a really long time he was undrafted out of UAB in 2013 and when I talk about the experience I'm not lying he's appeared in 94 games throughout his NFL career which includes 58 starts and last year with Tennessee he held up pretty well nine starts on the resume four sacks gave up 18 pressures not great but bad quarterback play can sometimes enhance that number but he did have a pass blocking efficiency grade according to Pro Football Focus of 95.9 some more in-depth numbers on what Hubbert InDepth Stats hubard was able to accomplish in 2023 and then we'll compare that with what mckivitz did or did not do in 2023 the overall grade of 69 that's about League average and it's in the green according to Pro Football Focus pass blocking grade 67.8 not too shabby run blocking grade right around that average Mark of 64.1 no penalties so that goes to show you the experience that he has under his belt he did give up those four sacks four hits allowed 18 pressures and all of his snaps coming at right tackle that's the position in question that we're discussing on today's show his Hubbert Career Stats path so far in the NFL couple of different stops I think this is pretty telling here other than the Titans he hasn't been one and done that tells me that these organizations have valued having hubber on their team they see something in the player he's with the Steelers from 2014 to 2017 14 starts 2018 to 22 he's with the Browns he starts 34 games and then with the Titans last year there's a four mention nine starts of course it's not ideal when you have a team that's this legit this dangerous that has Super Bowl aspirations like the ners have to be on that quest for six and these are the options at right tackle because San Francisco and this is very frustrating continues to not value the offensive line like they should but the reason why we're having this debate having this conversation conver conversation excuse me this is a legitimate question here and it's a real question that the ners should ask themselves is hubard better than Colton mckivitz and if he is or if he outplays Colton mckivitz in the preseason and in training camp can you afford to run it back with mckivitz once again because in 2023 he was not good Is Hubbert better than McCoy this is a reason why he was a late round pick he has the short arm length and a Wings span I think he's more of a a swing tackle or an interior offensive lineman and that showed last year in the regular season he was durable that's good more than a th000 snaps 573 of the pass blocking variety but he gave up nine sacks 47 total pressures one of the lowest graded tackles in all of football and he surrendered a lot of hits on Brock pie and then in the playoffs he wasn't better 205 snaps on 123 pass blocking snaps zero sacks allowed good job 12 pressures allowed though in three games that's an easy average of four per game and Brock P's escapability his athleticism his ability to make plays improvisationally that has helped out this offensive line as far as the O lines numbers and mivit numbers not being worse than what they already are and then the two hits as well in the playoffs so with that this Poll Question is today's poll number one is the one that the ners ended the season with in the Super Bowl until John Feliciano got hurt of course and that's Trent Williams Aaron Banks Jake brindle John Feliciano and Colton mvit if you want that offensive line continuity you could go with that number one combination offensive line combination number two little bit of a switch up here it is trut Williams Aaron Banks Jake brindle at left tackle left guard and Center if you're high on the potential of Spencer berford because he's still in his early 20s you could start him at Right Guard and then Colton mckivitz at right tackle but Feliciano one of the highest graded guards in the NFL last year offensive line combination number three features the third round pick out of C Kansas Dominic puny at Right Guard during rookie mini camp he displayed athleticism quickness physicality a nasty streak was on display on the tape at Kansas last year didn't give up a sack last year at Kansas while playing left tackle you go with him at Right Guard and then the other starters are the same in tret Williams Aaron Banks Jake brindle and Colton mcit this is where some of the changes start to take hold I kind of like this off offensive line combination number four where you go with Trent Williams at left tackle Aaron banks at left guard John felano at Center Dominic puny at Right Guard and then the newly acquired Chris hubard at right tackle why not just experiment with it if you want to go with Colton mckivitz at right tackle and John Feliciano at Center I'll experiment with that because Feliciano has experience playing Center and it could be better than Jake brindle offensive line combination number five more changes here where the left side of the offensive line is not a problem it's going to remain intact for San Francisco with Trent Williams and Aaron Banks Manning that left side we put Jake brindle back at Center but now John Feliciano mans Right Guard and then Chris hubard takes over for Colton mckivitz at right tackle offensive line combination number six it's a little bit risky here because you would be starting two rookies but Drake nent got off to rave reviews at rookie mini camp so you go tret Williams Aaron Banks Drake nent who started every game for Michigan last year First Team all big 10 he's got a streak of nastiness he's athletic didn't have a lot of losses on tape you still go with Dominic puny at Right Guard and then colon mckivitz is your right tackle offensive line combination number seven replaces mckivitz with Chris hubber but then you continue to move forward with Drake nen and Dominic puny again it's two rookies starting there offensive line combination number eight jerck Kingston like Dominic puny did not give up a sack last year but has shorter arms some people believe that he's an interior offensive lineman and could be the future Center for this team if he has a good training camp and plays well at Center and he's better than nent Better Than Jake brindle I think he has more upside of course than brindle do you start Kingston at a USC at center with py at Right Guard and Chris hubard at right tackle offensive line combination number nine jerck Kingston Dominic puny at Center and Right Guard and then Colton mckivitz there at right tackle and then the last one here offensive line combination number 10 you have Drake nent Dominick puny at Center and Right Guard and then Colt mckivitz at right tackle instead of Chris hubard so the point here being Niners have a lot of options some people want to see berford experimenting at right tackle as Tom Downey would say or as Tom Downey would say that's kind of how he says it on the Cowboys report um you could go berford at right tackle but look he struggled at Right Guard right so I don't think he's going to be a right tackle at the NFL level and if you want to go Dominic puny at right tackle he has shorter arms and played the majority of his college career at left tackle but which offensive line
