[Music] so look get my thoughts on the Jihad dos and trade a few days ago to me this is one of the worst trades this year and's probably hasn't certainly been a ton but this is certainly at the top of the list you can argue because I just don't understand from any from every perspective from the C the the commander side of why they want to get rid of them the compensation they got in return for him as well as they traded too so to you know kind of you know recall what the trade was the commanders did trade former first round picture Han doson in a 2025 fifth round pick to the Rival Philadelphia Eagles in return they get a 2025 third and two7 in the in that package deal and again I do not understand at all what the commanders are are coming from why they wanted to do this to me this is no doubt hindering jayen Daniels in my opinion taking away a receiver that is already lacking receiver Talent outside you know Terry mclen of course you look at Pro Football Focus want to give you know a breakdown of this year and and last year so Pro Football Focus didn't have him anything special and I'm not trying to argue that datson was going to turn into a great wide receiver an elite wide receiver he certainly hasn't lived up to what he was taking 16th overall in 2022 coming out of Penn State as you see Pro Football Focus overall had him a 57.7 rating receiving at 58.5 so barely above average if if you want to call it that and we kind of break down his stats for last year uh per game it's got nothing spectacular only one se you know 70 plus rating in that was from week eight everything outside of that is 50 you know couple 60s but mostly 50s you have a couple 40s in there as well and then for overall grades he is a huge regression all across the board you look at his overall grade going from his rookie or 70.5 to 57.7 like we talked about touchdowns went from 7 to four receiving yards went down went down slightly 523 to 518 reception did go up from 35 to 49 and targets went up as well from 56 to 49 but overall it just there was a regression overall and certainly you know there is part on him as well just maybe re you know the commanders reached on jadson at the time in 2022 they also had trayon Burks available on the board but he's probably he's done the same if not worse are less of success than doson in Tennessee but for me even still this does not make any sense why they wanted to release doson or should say trade him to especially you know again to an arch rival we'll get we'll get into that in a second but there's no doubt in my mind doson would have played better with Daniels D jayen Daniels is a talent is probably the best quarterback they've had in years I also want to you know keep in perspective the quarterbacks that datson had to play with the last two years years this is just you know off the top of the head this is Carson once Taylor Hani Sam how K Bret those are the four quarterbacks he he's played with you can say the best quarterback is what Sam har you know Sam how maybe you can say jacobe brette it just you see the you see the quarterback play and it's been mediocre at best it it is you look at s how he got his first opportunity really last year to to be the starter he threw 21 touchdowns 21 interceptions he was he he was just on the edge of 4,000 passing yards at one point he was leing league in passing for a few weeks but again you see what they did now they shipped him out he's now a backup with Seattle which is why they are with Jayden Daniels second overall in the draft so I don't understand from not just doson but more jayen Daniels perspective why you want why would you take away a receiver that still has you know still has the skill set to produce on this team you know he's not even 25 yet he I I don't kind of sound d but you see 24.4 24 and a half and it down to you know D say to say halves in age but he's still a relatively young wide receiver and I just don't get why you would want to give up on him with again a wide receiver room that is lacking you have brought back jamus Crowder hasn't done much the last few years you brought back mavius Bryant who hasn't been in the league the I should say the last time he was in the league was when Mahomes won his first MVP when Lamar Jackson and Josh alen were in the rookie year when Antonio Brown was with the Steelers still I just show 2018 that's the last time he played in the NFL I don't understand how how this really fix your wi receiving roomm you did draft Luke mcaffrey maybe you're putting a lot of you know pressure a lot of Hope on him that he really steps up and plays well you still you have Austin Eckler who was a big part of the passing game with the Chargers so maybe you're you're kind of you know putting a little bit more of a load on him for the receiving game on that perspective but again I just I I don't understand from both sides from doson and J and danels why you move off of him the money is is especially does not make any sense Jane Daniels this year was going to make 1.57 million next year he was set to make 3.2 25 even if you are a person that doesn't like uh Jan dson and since he's a bad wide receiver I still think it's pretty it's it's worth keeping a you know a receiver of his talent a young wide receiver of talent for 1.57 when it's going to cost you more to get a receiver in free agency if you want a you know competent receiver like him it's going to cost you more same is 2025 it's just you you had two years of a really cheap contract to see what he can do with Jane Daniels again that's saying he's going to turn out to anything he's he's be amazing he's he's going be a thousand yard receiver he's going be a double- digit touchdown player I'm not saying that but you look at the money and what he what's still on on his deal as well as what he can contribute with Daniels and see what he can do I just don't understand from the money perspective as well there was there's no perspective for J Daniels there no perspective for the money and on top of that too this is two weeks before the season even starts you're already taking away once again going back to wide receiving core a core that's lacking at that position you're already taking a receiver away from from him and going to the next part we're going to is the Philadelphia Eagles where he goes to a amazing offense you look at just this you know in terms of the the draft Capital all around Jaylen Herz second round pick Squan Barkley first round pick Dallas GD second round pick Devonte Smith first round pick AJ Brown second round pick now of course you know Barkley and AJ Brown were not drafted by the Eagles but just you know accumulating them on the roster and now you're adding another first round Talent on the team and certainly that's that's a pretty good wide receiver three and that's and that's what Jan doson kind of was in in with the commanders kind of going you know splend the time between that and Curtis Samuel when he was on the field he also had his own fair share of injuries as well but certainly you can make the case that's a that's a really good wide receiver three on top of again five 1.57 million this year and then 3.2 million next year I mean that's just that's an amazing deal for the Philadelphia Eagles and then you know R you know for uh for Rony hman they don't they don't care about the picks so you third round pick is certainly you know for for the upside that he can bring from a 16th overall pick to a third round pick it's certainly he can contribute I I believe in this offense you look at again the stats that he put up in his you know in those two years I think that's the the the floor 500 receiving yards few touchdowns that is the floor no doubt I would not be surprised if he was you know 7 800 maybe in that in that offense you know it just one surpris not saying he is but certainly he can no doubt replicate at least the floor of 500 receiving yards but you're again just getting the talent that you saw from Penn State the capabilities he has again it hasn't worked out in in Washington but you also to look at the team wise quarterback wise he this is no doubt he is going to the best quarterback he's had in his career in Jaylen Herz and no doubt I do believe he will have success there in my opinion again I'm not once again what I said I'm not you know I'm not proclaiming a thousand receiving yards double the touchdowns I'm not saying that but I think he will fit well in this offense and if not he's a great dep Feast at that at that at that price and you know to really boast to that wide receiving group so from that perspective as well I just I don't get why you you trade him to an arch rival who the last couple years has had good success two years ago it's they went to the Super Bowl had one of the best defenses so you know Jay Herz had a great season that year last year did take a step back but it was still you could say the best team in the NFC east and this year it they look to re you know replicate that Dallas Cowboys have their own problems with contract with Dak Prescott Ste lamb Michael Parson so we don't know what's going to happen with that so right now they look like the the top dogs in the NFC East so I don't get why you want to trade if you if you really wanted to get rid of them that you would do an in you know in trade or inivision trade to to send to the to the best team in your in your division that's kind of like it's kind of like the Oakland or the Las Vegas Raiders trading a decent player to the Kansas City Chiefs why why would you why would you help them and I I kind of view that perspective it's like if you want to get rid of them I feel like there has to be other options out there maybe they they maybe they weren't getting a third round pick in return for datson and so that's horrible value going got from 16th overall the third round you to also add another pick on top of doson to get that as well it just to me it doesn't you know from from every level it does not make any sense from getting rid of him to the money that he that he still is the very low money is getting paid to what team he's getting going to to the compensation you got return to me this is a a complete failure in every level for the commanders and you know certainly you want to start a new era without Snider r ver has gone after a few years you're starting over certainly probably didn't get the the coach you wanted I mean I don't believe Dan Quinn was the the coach they wanted as you know as the as the future they want to get a couple offensive minding coaches but fortunately a couple of them went back Johnson from Detroit went back I think the offensive coordinator from Houston decided to go back as well so you're kind of you know you're kind of stuck you had your your hands tied and you had to go with Dan Quinn but even that to me this is just a bad bad move and this hinders more so just Jane Daniels and I feel bad for him because again I think this you're just you're just taking away weapons for him unless you feel very confident in some reports I don't know if it's sure not about brand auk of of Landing him but even still that just won't make any sense because of just the money even if you sign if even if you somehow brought in Brandon auk you still have enough money to pay 1.7 or 1.57 million for Jan doson I just don't see it I mean they're really you they're really putting a lot on Terry mcloren put a lie on J and Daniels and to me it just I I'm worried you know certainly with that I just don't like the mindset the direction of where they where they went with this I think they kind of gave up way too early on doson again looking back at the quarterback play I I don't think any of us can sit here and say that that was spectacular that was great that was the standard that to me that's it's mediocre at best it okay at best and you know I want I was really excited to see what Jan datson was going to do with Jay and Daniels I know he didn't get a big opportunity in the preseason only really caught three catches in the you know the preseason process but no one else really you know had a couple lot of catches either MC gloren didn't have a lot of catches Luke mcaffry didn't have a lot of catches so to me it's just it's it's a it's it's a huge swing in a Miss in my opinion with this move it's just it's another Commander move it's another horrible mistake you're helping an arch rival with the Philadelphia Eagles and they are getting you know it's a lowrisk much High reward for the eagles and their perspective and just really helping that already stacked offense you know AJ Brown are be a top five maybe top three wide receiver to some people saquon Barkley top five running back Jaylen Herz dep on how you feel about where he ranks I know he's very polarizing of you know if Elites good okay wherever people put them but certainly a great quarterback you look at what they have on that offense you Devonte Smith one of the best if not de best wide receiver two in the NFL it just doesn't make any sense why why would you help that the Philadelphia Eagles in the division that is is already much better than you at this point certainly I don't think anyone's believing in the commanders are going to fight for the first you know the first spot in the division and to me again to me all around this does not make any sense I think it's a complete failure on every level for the commanders if this is Dan Quinn's decision the GM whatever it may be it's just I you know at the end of the day I really feel I really feel bad for Jan Daniels in my opinion he just he loses the opportunity for a receiver just to build chemistry with and certainly again two weeks before this the regular season starts you take a receiver away from him I think it's a very bad move on the Commander's part but we'll see how well how Jan daon does with Philadelphia and we'll see how the wide receiving group NJ and Daniels does the season with Commanders
