Historias de rock: Aznar, Pastorius y los Counting Crows

[Música] Hola a todos Bienvenidos a un nuevo episodio de wiki Julio hoy Quiero compartir con ustedes algunas de las historias más ñoñas que conozco y que tuve la oportunidad de conversar con dos artistas que admiro mucho yo debo de ser probablemente el mayor fan que tienen los Counting crows en Colombia y lo digo porque ese tipo de agrupación que a este lado del mundo realmente no es tan importante lo digo corazón Me encantan los discos los tengo todos pero no es una agrupación realmente relevante en América Latina y yo lo sigo desde august and Everything after el álbum deb que tiene Mr Jones todo bien hast ahí y en momento leyendo cosas a propósito de la Banda descubrí que el artista de algunas de las portadas de los discos de ellos es un colombiano que se llama Felipe Molina no sé si es que nació en Colombia se fue inmediatamente no sé nada de elman pero sé que él es el encargado del arte de varios de los discos de los Counting crows y finalmente después de muchos años de escuchar la música de la agrupación tuve la oportunidad de entrevistar a Adam durit y curiosamente cuando estuve hablando con él que acaban de lanzar un ep que se llamaba butter miracle suet One él está sentado como en lo que parece ser la sala de su casa pues y Detrás de él hay unos cuadros que estoy convencido que el arte de Felipe Molina entonces en la entrevista cerrando le digo esas son pinturas de Felipe y él como que reaccion dice s y le digo cuénteme la historia de cómo conoció usted a Felipe y có llegan esas pinturas y demás y esto es lo que pasó you know Uh in in New York and Uh flip was living in in Queens then I'm Pretty sure um and Uh you know i' Had Never Had like Money like that before you know I Had some Money And I could you know the idea of buying Art That's Nothing I could Ever Have done In my life my parents were into it But You know not as my own you know like and I I came Upon some of felipe's paintings in this in this gallery in in Uh in Soho And I was Just knocked out And I stood there like Looking at all these paintings for hours And then I can't I went home to the hotel And I You Know buse It Never occurs to you you can buy Art And I went Back the next day And I looked at it Again And I was like I looked at all these paintings Again I was like Wow Man this this Guy is incredible um And I think It was like the third day I came back And I was like it took me a While to get My Head around the idea That I could Buy Art you know Cuz Who does that you know and and And I I bought his paintings and i loved them i loved them so much and Uh and Over The years I I like kept coming Back and looking for more of his work and Uh eventually you know we got To Know each other and Uh became Friends and we Used him For an album cover for the new amsterdam record the Live record One of the paintings I owned and then Finally at One Point Uh Just like I did with Dave mckeen for Uh for this Desert Life Where I asked he designed a different artwork for Every painting for Every song on this Desert Life um you know I Had this One painting that was my favorite One of felipe's paintings Uh And I Wanted to use it for the cover of somewhere Under Wonderland but I asked Felipe If he would Paint a different painting for everyone you know We eventually along the way we became really Close Friends you know He's a really good friend Of Mine Now and Uh He's One of the guys that does the festival underwater Sunshine with me he did the Art For underwater Sunshine Last year Or You know 2000 Uh 19 um yeah He's Just One of the best guys in the world and so I mean now I have a Collection of his paintings really um but It's Something I just like it happened When we were touring on Our First album I just kept coming back to this gallery and Looking at them and Finally I decided I was going to buy paintings you know It's all all It's all I really spent Money on for When I made money First I bought Uh a bunch of CDs and a bunch of paintings that was kind of it you know Oh cool I It's just That I read somewhere While Reading about the Band I read about him Found him on Instagram and And I read somewhere that he was born in Colombia But You know left very early or Something Like that you got you guys got to come someday He's He's the best Guy you'll Ever Meet He's a brilliant you know and he wasn't even a painter at First he was a really good bas he was Uh his teacher was Pastor no kidding yeah no flip was a I call him flip Felipe was a base Player and and and Still Is A Good base Player um and then he became a painter and you know and now he lives in Kentucky um but he lived here for year he grew up in New York City and Uh with his family and then he went to conneticut for a While and now he lives in Kentucky Uh And I love him He's as good a guy as you'll Ever Meet um I don't want to Take much of your Time I'm Pretty sure you have a big press day ahead so Just Adam Thank you very much Thank you very much for the s look I'm this Big of a fan I shouldn't even be doing this journalist they ask you not to do this kind of things Thank you Julio That's exactly what you should be doing I Appreciate It deeply Deep music and and That's it Man right I don't Buy Art yet but some yeah other than Felipe me neither Just Felipe Yeah yeah actually i mank much once Thanks Man have a good bye by by Bye la historia me sorprendió totalmente Además del tema del arte y Felipe y Adam duit y lo demás Ese cuento de que Jacob pastorio es uno de las grandes leyendas del bajo terminó dándole clases a Felipe pues es absolutamente sorprendente Y a propósito de Jacob past turios pues hace un tiempo tuve la oportunidad hablar con Pedro aznar una de las grandes leyendas de la música de habla hispana y debe ser uno de los mejores instrumentistas también que tenemos en el Continente latinoamericano y le pregunté por este mito urbano que se supone que él conoce a Jacob pastorius y le dice usted es mi bajista favorito o algo así no tengo la leyenda Clara entonces me aventur a preguntarle a Pedro aznar por ese momento en el que él conoce a jao qué fue lo que realmente pasó esta es la pregunta y esto es lo que me cuenta Pedro aznar es verdad que jao pastorius dijo que usted era el mejor bajista no no eso eso fue un periodista que me dijo estábamos eh estábamos en en un hotel en Río de Janeiro eh habíamos ido a tocar con seru girán y y estaba we report tocando y y la piscina del Hotel estaba llena de músicos estaban todos nuestros nuestros ídolos eh Y y yoo bajé a la piscina y yo lo lo miraba yao así como Como quien vea un semidios a a pocos metros de distancia estaba a punto de darme un paro cardíaco y vino un periodista argentino que estaba ahí cubriendo el festival y me dijo queres que te lo presente a jao y le dijo sí nada me gustaría más Pero bueno no sé cómo vamos a hacer me dice déjamelo a mí entonces vamos cam yo iba super tímido tenía 20 años y y va y él le dice a jao Te presento a Pedro nal es el mejor bajista del mundo y la mirada de jao los dos láser que salieron de los ojos de jao me fulminaron instantáneamente y yo quería que en ese momento me tragara la tierra pasé una vergüenza espantosa no sé por qué se le ocurrió a este a este señor decir semejante estupidez Pero bueno esas cosas no pero es una gran historia Pedro y usted sin duda es uno de los grandes
