CHESTNUT VS. KOBAYASHI! -The Lock Shop - 08-30-24

Start Screen e e [Music] all right I guess we're rolling right into this one today Pat greguar welcome to the program gang it is Lock Shop time here on Edmonton Sports Talk hus with you Dusty on the road in Victoria beautiful Victoria BC touchdown Pacific tomorrow between the Ottawa red blacks and the British Columbia Lions we will get to that a little bit later on give you some updated CFL lines a little bit of line movement not too much certainly not as much that happened during yesterday's show that two is still hung up on uh the BC Lions right now coming down from three earlier today but this is a very special Friday show we're GNA talk Chestnut kobashi we're going to get into this big WWE event overseas on the weekend which I think we have a little fun with on cool as well um but Pat listen I mean you know obviously we're going to have our usual laughs and everything on this program but I would be remiss if um we didn't take a quick minute to um just recognize the unspeakable tragedy last night um losing Johnny gdo and his brother Matthew to a drunk driver this you know I I had seen a bunch of uh tweets and speculation on this rumor late last Johnny Gaudreau Situation night and I thought it was incredibly irresponsible for people to be throwing it out there and that's sort of the world we live in today where people have some information and feel like they've got to put that out to everyone but it was pretty clear that this was serious I mean there wasn't anybody refuting it there was just people saying please I hope this is not true and uh you know when you wake up this morning you realize it's it is true it is just uh I mean shaking the hockey world I spent a good part of the last couple hours listening to the guys in Calgary um recount Johnny's career and his impact there and uh I mean just an absolutely horrible way to wake up and I mean the fact that they were there it was their sister's wedding today um you know that family's been through a lot but um I I I figured just you know we should recognize that and give um you know whatever whatever thoughts we can to everybody affected by this because I mean obviously the people you're most concerned about is the the immediate family everyone that was there Gathering through the wedding um um but even listening to you know the radio in Calgary this morning I mean this is a guy that was such a beloved player um obviously left in you know less than ideal circumstances but um just such a special special guy and I just I I cannot believe that he's gone in this fashion yeah it was absolutely heartbreaking seeing it last night and the and you know the longer that there was no you know message from Johnny or from the jackets the NHL whoever it may be uh as long as that kind of went out after the reports you kind of knew that unfortunately there was a good chance that these reports were were in fact true um but going to bed last night hoping that waking up that it was going to just be a you know a bad report but seeing that he passed seeing the fact it was with his brother um like you said riding bikes um the week or sorry the day before their sister's sweating like it's just the more and more you read about it it's heartbreaking and tragic regardless of it being you know Johnny hockey like anytime two young men that young lose their lives it it is absolutely tragic it you know it's not just an NHL and a pro hockey player whose Li lives were lost it's a father it's a son it's a brother and you know obviously heartfelt goes out to the goodro family um in Calgary he was a huge part of there you mentioned it like the guy was such a beloved character not just you know in in wherever he played but when you talk in like the inner Circles of hockey like with other Pros uh Johnny Hammond cheese Johnny hockey like was just such a happy Lucky Guy and um it's it's it's sad to to to see that this this was reality and that we did lose Johnny gdo um but I don't know if you ever needed a reminder but I think today is another reminder anytime uh any place there is no excuse uh to be hopping uh inside a vehicle after having some drinks um take an Uber take a cab um leave your keys behind find another way home um because you don't know who you are going to risk never mind just risking yourself once you get behind uh you know the wheel after consuming uh some alcohol well and you know what I mean listen we're heading into the Labor Day weekend kind of the the last blowout of Summer um and that is an important message that we need to heat 365 days a year um and listen there's going to be a lot of people out at at bars and at parties and at barbecues and gonna be having a great time and listen I mean first and foremost you have to take care of yourself but these are the things that affect everybody so um you know if you see someone in your circle that's considering doing that don't be afraid to say something something to prevent it because um you know one one simple Act of reasonable Behavior at a time when maybe people aren't being reasonable um can prevent tragedies like this and uh oh yeah it was just u i mean it's it's just so sad it is so shocking um I've read some really interesting things about the relationship between Johnny and Matthew today I mean they went to Boston College together um you know they had an incredible and I mean you know at the time Johnny you know was a fourth round pick in the NHL I mean was this Phenom player could have really gone wherever he wanted and he basically let his brother pick where they were going to go because he wanted to go together and know his brother knowing that Johnny I think wanted to go to BC the most decided to pick that so um you know I know today on wst we'll talk more a little bit about Johnny's hockey Legacy um but this is um I mean this is an absolute tragedy I mean there's not anything any of us can do right now other than just wish for for peace and for healing for the for the gdo family and everyone affected by this I mean the Blue Jackets organization I you know they had uh I mean this is the second time they've had you know a player in their organization killed in the off season um you know so I I you know it's it's really hard for us here to you know I mean no one's ever going to make sense of it um but you know a little bit later on we'll look back at you know Johnny's incredible Legacy uh you know as a player um but you know the message today is um you know use your head and uh you know everyone has a role CFL Talk in preventing these sorts of things happening and uh make sure to keep that top of Mind throughout the Labor Day weekend um speaking of Labor Day weekend I may as well do a quick transition over here we went through all the picks yesterday on the shop with myself and a wanic with our picks for the game and if you were watching at the beginning it was very strange and Patty you I guess were on yesterday kind of a a bit of an anomaly with the with the number of this touchdown Pacific game you know it had been minus three was minus three and a half then it was minus three and obviously there was a lot of money coming in on Ottawa because at the beginning of the show it was still minus three but the plus three was Juiced to minus 128 and the minus three was was at plus plus 108 or plus 106 or something like that which you very very rarely see and lo and behold it didn't move to two and a half it moved straight to two and it's been solid at two ever since so BC now just a two-point home favorite in the touchdown Pacific I do like the lions in this game although I think we've said that a couple times in the past five weeks that haven turned it around um interesting the money line has hasn't changed in the bomber Rider game it is still plus 116 and the Riders are still minus 141 but the point spread actually has gone down half a point the Riders are only two point favorites now as opposed to the two and a half that they've been laying or for the entire week right now so um point spread still solid at 47 and a half money line hasn't changed but if you are betting the spread for the Labor Day classic between the bombers and the riders that one is down to two no change right now with the Toronto Argonaut who were still fivepoint favorites in hammer in the hammer against the ti cats in the early Monday game and then the late game which many people in our Edmonton listening and viewing area are fired up about Elks and stamps Trey Ford was back in practice yesterday NBT was taking the one the reps with the ones Trey Ford will dress but Jer Jackson said he is not sure at this point as to what role he will be so as we talked about with lanic I think there is some uncertainty as to whether Ford is going to get in the game I still like the Elks though even if mbt's in there Elks are plus three right now and uh if you look at the exclusives the partner parlay is up in the exclusive section BC minus two and a half the bomber Ru Rider under 47 and a half and the Elks plus three and a half wanted to get that extra hook although I do like the Elks to win outright plus 615 in the cool exclusives right now now uh Patty uh you know we're going to get to Chestnut kobashi we've got lots to talk about on this topic lots a little WWE as well for a big event but college football is back and I don't know if you caught it last night we had two awesome awesome college games last night a little prime time just down the road from us the Mighty Bison of North Dakota State push Colorado to the Limit completing a pass on what the three or the four yard line on the final play but not having any other time they cover the spread though they lose 31-26 and then an absolute Thriller between Minnesota and uh North Carolina by the way I had no idea that Ma Brown was still coaching oh my God ma Brown is at NC and I'm telling you right now that little guy kicking field goals from North Carolina could probably start for 15 NFL teams right now stud man absolute stud yeah a couple great games last night you are totally right um I think it was a really really trendy pick I don't have the numbers in front of me but a lot of people were fading coach Prime in that game um and for good reason North Dakota State they are a FCS power host and they have been for a very long time a dynasty and since 2011 I saw this they are now 6-2 straight up and 8-0 against the spread going up against FBS opponents that is insane that goes to show you obviously they don't play a lot of of the SBS schools you know going up they're an FCS team they're still division one so those who maybe don't follow uh college football as much and FCS is still division one football it's just not in the football series like the big Prime um no pun intended programs um but for good reason man Colorado they are going to be a really really fun team to watch this year coach Prime um has done an unreal job recruiting getting guys in the portal uh shadur Sanders looks like he could possibly uh be a Heisman candidate he had over you know 400 passing yards yesterday Travis Hunter just one of the most intriguing prospects we've seen in a very long time he had what two touchdown catches plus he was playing on the defensive side of the ball um I think he's a guy that it would be a dark horse potentially is he getting when when he gets drafted is he getting drafted as a DB or a receiver and I think he could probably get drafted either to be honest hus like he's that good at both positions I think first it was more of a defensive player but from what we've seen what we saw last night like I think he could play in the NFL as a receiver I really do I think he'd probably be more valuable as a receiver but he's that good uh on both sides the ball I truly truly believe uh he could right now Travis Hunter uh 40 to one to win the Heisman I believe that has moved since yesterday that's actually one of the better prices that I've seen in the market um I saw a couple of tweets that he dropped down to like 25 to one at some of the other sports books out there so if you think the Travis Hunter hype is real a guy that's playing both sides of the ball uh and maybe some of the guys at the top like the dillian Gabriels from from Oregon or Carson Beck at Georgia Quinn URS at Texas you think maybe those guys aren't going to be quite as good and and it's more of a storyline Heisman with uh Hunter I think that's a good bet the only issue is as I said they're going to be a a lot of fun to watch because their offense is electric but they can't stop anything defensively outside a hunter and a couple of linebackers that defense is putrid so that's the one concern are they going to win enough games where they're going to be able to build that Heisman case for a hunter I don't know about it and this has mostly become you know a Quarterback Award so that certainly is going both ways though that's what I'm saying like going both ways is special and you're right if there's some guy if if a quarterback goes and has an undefeated season and is just you know killing it every week I mean they'll probably get it but and I think Colorado is going to need to be better than they were last year I mean they had that great start there was all that hype and then they absolutely imploded and finished in four and eight I mean I'm not sure this team's better than a 500 team this year I don't know a lot about their schedule or who else that they're playing but they will I mean just in their conference they'll have some Big Time games but I'll tell you what if they get to a bow if they go eight and four nine and three and this guy is getting into the end zone a couple times and then being a dominating player on defense I don't know how you don't give him a long considerable look so uh it's funny we'll see what happens with Colorado but those two guys I mean I I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility I think both of those guys are top 10 even top five picks when we get to the draft next year and let's be honest if you saw that game the way they Colorado had that game in hand and then for for whatever reason coach Prime elected to continue to throw the ball and stop the clock I think he wants he he is an idiot but he also wants his son to win a Heisman so I think he all year long is going to be trying to really really Pat his stats shadur Sanders right now 30 to1 um to win the Heisman as well so again I don't know if Colorado is going to win enough games you mentioned um ma Brown did you know this is crazy there are only three active coaches right now in college football that have won a national championship because Sabin retired and Jim Harbaugh went to the NFL there is only three right now Kirby Smart with Georgia who's won twice dbos Sweeny with Clemson who's won twice oddly enough those two guys are going head-to-head this week and Ma Brown many many years ago has won so believe it or not those are the only three current coaches that just kind of goes to show you the state of of college football right now it's just the same couple of teams winning national championships over and over and then once that happens they go to the NFL or they mve is he on a panel now or something are we going to be him every I think he's on ES PN I don't know if he's on the college game day panel he might be um which will be a hilarious Dynamic with like him and then a couple of seats down Pat McAfee I was just thinking about how hilarious that would be Lee Coro in the middle going yeah I don't think I don't think we're gonna get Sabin putting on any mascot heads with uh with Lee Coro anytime soon I I it's it's great I love college football obviously can see the joy um that I'm getting just even talking about this but uh two really good games yesterday and I think we've got an opportunity for a couple of really good ones and uh in that exclusive tab hus we've got a pretty good exclusive teed up it is a teaser if you notice those numbers it's not a straight up parlay we did tease some of those numbers down but I think it's still a pretty good overall number well you know what we can get into that in you know just before we get to the te's let's just look at the slate and obviously with it being the first full week of NCAA football after week zero last week we won't go through all of them but I mean Pat just what are uh if people haven't been paying any attention and they've got a day off tomorrow they're going to be channel surfing I mean which are some of the the top games on the Slate the one that you like the most and obviously if you have a a lean or two on a game uh let's let's chop chop it up right now on that well I think the biggest game of the week is arguably one of the first games that that starts and that's Clemson who's ranked number 14 right now going up against Georgia who's number one who had it's crazy to say a disappointing year because they didn't make it to the the cfp final uh Georgia is uh is a primed ready team Carson Beck is their quarterback I think this is a chip on the on the shoulder year for them they lost to Alabama in the the SEC and and this is a big year for them on the flip side Clemson being ranked 14 a lot of people are pretty high on to have a bit of a bounceback season from what we've seen in the past couple of years the only thing that scares me is this this is now the era of the transfer portal um where not only is recruiting important getting youngsters out there but to fill the void of some seniors that maybe leave or Juniors that go to the NFL instead of waiting for one of those youngsters to come up the rank and develop you're getting guys from other programs you're getting quarterbacks transferred from others you're getting star players that maybe were on smaller programs getting an opportunity to play at a big program dbos swinny has wants nothing to do that he wants nothing to do with nil um he is just worried about developing his own he wants all the money for himself exactly exactly he wants all the N money we're not spending this on the kids give it to me yeah so that's that's a concern in a day and age where nil is important to keep recruits and the transfer portal with n is important to stay um strong there is something to say though about cohesion and and building a group together now it's been two down seasons for them is this year they go up for me personally normally like when it's big program on big program I would say just take the points but for me I just think that this Georgia team is that much better it's the opener these number one ranked teams they don't go down and they usually blow teams out I don't know the 12 kind of scares me if it was a 10 and a half I'd be for sure laying it with Georgia that's why I've got them on that teaser but if I had to go either way I'd take Georgia I think Georgia this is going to be a game where I think first half's going to be close it's going to be a little bit of a sweat and then in the second half the studs the upper echelon talent that Georgia does have is just going to overwhelm a team like Clemson another big game hus that I'm looking at the Slate I'm a huge Notre Dame fan everyone knows that the Fighting Irish poised to have a a really good year ranked number seven some people thinks think it's a bit too high going to Kyle Field Texas A&M uh got a new coach Mike Alco who actually was at Notre Dame and also was at Duke last year and Coach Riley Leonard speaking of those transfer portals well Duke uh quarterback Riley Leonard transfers from duke goes to Notre Dame and I think he's going to be a great quarterback but it's pretty tough for him for his first game at Notre Dame having not only to go up against a ranked team a team with a great defensive end but you're going up against your former coach on a new Team all that being being said I'm never ever going to bet against my Fighting Irish I also never like betting on my on my Fighting Irish either the spread's at three right now I think this comes down to a field goal really I really do I think if you think Notre Dame can win the game take the money line if you think Texas A&M's gonna win the money line is is minus 147 maybe you take the points but I think this is going to come down to a final kick the number that I like is under 46 and a half I think Notre Dame is gonna have a top five defense I think their offense is going to struggle um just with that environment and and with so many new moving pieces and I think Texas A&M's offense is a little bit overrated as well and I think they have a really good defense so under 46 in that game uh is another one that I like those are probably the two Marquee matchups that we have on the Slate uh for today and then on Sunday USC LSU that's becoming kind of a little bit of a tradition here for LSU in the last couple years having that Standalone game well Brian Kelly again I am a known Notre Dame fan so obviously I'm a Brian Kelly hater he's 0 and2 in these openers since uh moving uh in the middle of the night not telling anyone he was leaving South Bend could to go down uh to Louisiana I think LSU wins this game I they Maybe Maybe cover the four I don't know about this but what I do know is both teams have electric offenses I know Caleb Williams isn't at USC anymore they still have pretty good quarterback but their offenses are electric and their defenses are just putrid I'm taking the over 64 which seems like that that might be crazy I could see this thing hitting 70s man both these offenses are gonna absolutely light it up I love it I love it uh and I I will go LSU just that's my team in the uh college football 25 video game we're having a very strong season after a stuff start so uh we'll see what happened I I the one thing I love doing even though I'm not a hardcore college football follower although I do get into it once we've got a little more information through the year um is the early in the season the crazy lines it's nuts here my talk here are my top three lines of the week from cool BET right now in third place Southern Mississippi at Kentucky Kentucky is a minus 5,000 money line favorite and is laying 26 and a half points at home uh the number two line of the week is New Mexico at Arizona Arizona is a minus 10,000 moneyline favorite uh New Mexico almost 16 to1 on the money line and the point spread is an even 31 points but that pales in comparison to the line of the week money line options not available it's the akan Zips at Ohio State Ohio State laying 48 and a half points but I'm not sure I've ever seen 50 points uh as a spread and this is pretty damn close this might be the biggest line I've ever seen and I think it's it's definitely up there I'll have to look at at the history but I think they I think they cover for the 50 Burg to the Zips hey I'm a big mat guy love Mach and football but Ohio State uh they're gonna come with their hair on fire after their their ultimate rival uh Michigan goes out not only beats them in the big game but goes on to win the national championship a little bit of a disappointing season for them although you know I thought they you know they still had a pretty strong season but I mean when you don't win the big game and you don't get to the college football playoff when you're at Ohio State that is the two things that only really matter everything else on their schedule doesn't matter beat Michigan and go to the National Championship or at least the final four that's the other thing too we haven't even talked to us which is awesome I think is that we got the true college football playoff now 12 teams we got the bracket uh it's going to be more and more fun the only thing that does kind of suck as a purist you know when your team loses one game you're like oh crap like we might be done when you lose two games it's unless you're like an SEC team and you you win the you know you win the SEC as a two loss team maybe you get the fourth seed but it feels like you really only have two games that you can drop on your schedule you have no chance to make the playoffs I think this year maybe three wins but if you have two losses like you you're probably still okay like a two lost Penn State team a two lost Ohio State team a two lost Michigan Team Notre Dame um they can't make the top four because they're not in a conference that's a conversation for another day but a loss on their schedule maybe two losses they probably still find away in that top 12 and then one of my favorite things about this as well is uh outside of of the big four conferences um you know the group of group of five those smaller conferences at least the highest ranked team of them are going to get an opportunity so we might see a liberty in there we might see one of these other programs that go undefeated uh think back to you know Southern Florida um or U UCF uh Central Florida a couple years ago claiming national champions because they were left 13 and0 um so yeah I think it's going to be a really fun really really fun season and you know what hus I think you missed one I think you might have missed one maybe this is a uh an honorable mention something 48 and a half no no no no said maybe it should have made the the the power rankings maybe the top three Alabama going up against Western Kentucky uh laying 32 points in their first game since gosh I don't even know how long the early 2000s must have been without Nick Sabin they're laying 32 points against UK we gotta go all the way back to when Nick Sabin was quitting on the Dolphins to to go to there hey just on your point about the playoffs um if you uh if you do have a team that you like to follow the Futures are up for the make the playoffs so again if you think your team can get into that top 12 which is going to be the goal of pretty much every team to have a chance a seat at Chestnut vs Kobayashi the chance a seat at the table I should say um the uh playoff yes and no options are up for most of the top teams right now in the future section over at kolette all right let's get to the main event I I don't want to wait any longer to get to this because we really do have to dive into this Labor Day Monday Chestnut versus Kobayashi 2 pm on Netflix now we we we were talking we've been talking about these lines all week long and it was like okay Joey Chestnut oh wow and then the the chestnut line has moved by the way it's been 62 and a half hot dogs and buns all week it's now 67 and a half which is blows my mind considering what we're about to tell you with the rules for this event um teu kobayashi's total is 49 and a half that has stayed solid uh throughout the week and the um the hdb line the hot dog line has moved from 12 and a half now the winning margin is 15 and a half despite going up from 62 and a half to 67 here's the thing that we've got to talk about Pat because this is not the Nathan's contest this is a special head-to-head made for Netflix I guess matchup between Chestnut and Kobayashi and if you go to the Netflix Twitter account you can see this my guy great Chief's guy Rob Riggle breaking down The rules I mean it's still 10 minutes I mean they do have some tiebreaking it'll be a three minute eat off if it's tied and then it'll be fasce to five dogs I mean that's that's neat I don't think we we'll need that but listen there's old dog off there's two key bits of information that I think are going to significantly affect the ability for these legendary athletes to put up massive numbers and the first one is that there is no dunking no dunking of the buns in water and even more so maintaining the Integrity of the hot dog itself no separation of the dogs and buns the dogs will be eaten inside the buns and listen guys like us that have been watching the Nathan's contest for you know 15 20 years realized that the the Innovations in the eating techniques of the likes of kobashi and Chestnut really did sort of change the game um and these guys are trying to jam as many glizzies Down the Hatch as possible in 10 minutes they've gone to different techniques and it was separating the Buns the guys can just you know crush the dogs down really quickly and then utilizing the water um get the get the uh you know the the Buns down faster and you know that was a technique that many have imitated um and needless to say it's been used by Championship eaters in the Nathan's contest for over 10 years I am fascinated to see this and how it looks like with the guys needing to eat the hot dogs in the Buns I I have to think that this is going to significantly hamper the ability for Joey chestna and Tak Caro kobashi to go over these numbers I mean to me these odds are set now again I saw that it was a little bit lower Chestnut I mean can do 50 in his sleep and I mean I can't remember what the number was where he did at the uh the uh on the fourth of July where he did that bit over at the uh the military base in only five minutes but he smashed that number and I think got over 50 but again we're talking about a very different style of eating and again we don't know how the buns are but I mean listen the bunto dog ratio I think is going to be as you would expect um you know it will be a full dog it will be a full bun and eating them like that like even eating dude this is gez I don't want to clip that CLI that here that even eating two at a time um you know there's only so much capacity if you're putting in the bun that hasn't been kind of mushed down by the water so I I I don't like to do this but I'm looking at these numbers right now with the line moving up to 67 and a half I think there's a reason why the unders minus 120 and the overs us 110 but to be honest I think I even as great as Joey Chestnut is with no dunking and the dogs in the buns in the same amount of time I don't think he's going to be able to put up a 72 a 73 the numbers that we're used to at the Nathan's contest in fact I'll I wouldn't be surprised if he has a tough time getting to the 62 and a half that was the original line it's not fun to go against Joey Chestnut it is not fun to take the under but at 67 A2 with no dunking and the dogs in the Buns it would take the greatest eating performance of all time I think to get the number to flirt with 70 hot dogs maybe though Kobayashi can bring it out of Joey Jaws I don't know what what do you make of the of the the the fact that this is a very different contest and I think it to be significantly more difficult for these eaters well first and foremost that was like watching Picasso paint there you waxing poetically about Major League eating Bravo there is no one else on the planet that can do it quite like us I agree though I think this is tough with that being said I can't bring myself to to betting against the goat I can't bring myself to cheering for Less hot dogs and buns to be eaten I can't do it I honestly can't do it and much like we talked about Nick Sabin in college football well you don't make money betting against Nick Sabin well you don't make money betting against Joey chess not either I think where maybe we can get some value and I do think betting earlier in the week probably was your best bet getting that 62 line even though I think with some dry buns here slower buns it's going to be tougher for Jaws to hit that number where I'm looking at possibly because you mention it's the Rivalry maybe he doesn't get to where he thinks it is but kobashi it's his arch nemesis it's his rival he wants to prove who the goat is Joey Chestnut wants to do that I'm looking at and I don't know what we call it here the dog line the bun line the winning margin right now is sitting at 15 and a half dogs that's a lot but we're talking about a guy who's in his prime a guy that's been doing this for many years against a guy that we haven't seen in this contest in a type of concept it's like he's coming out to retirement he said he wasn't hungry anymore he wasn't hungry anymore I'll tell you jaws is still hungry 15 and a half hot dogs and buns I think he can beat him by that so that's where I think I'm gonna lay my juice I'm GNA go with the minus 115 which I think is great I'm G to go the margin of Victory to be over 15 and a half and maybe we fade kobashi maybe we take the under 49 and a half if we think Chestnut might have a hard time hitting 60 there's no way he's hitting 50 glizzies I'm sorry it's just not happening I honestly I think I might run the table with under bets in this knowing knowing these rules right now Kobayashi under 49 and a half Joey CH Chestnut under 67 and a half and under 117 and a half total hot dogs eaten um if if any of the and I and to be honest I'm sort of wish you with you I think Kobe is going to be uh like like he he hit 50 he hit 50 I want to say in 2011 I think and well no Joey was still winning at that point he was probably more like 07 or 08 um and listen it was it was incredible incredible feat um since then he has been he's still been around but because of the contractual um stalemate with mle he wasn't able to do the hot dog contest he would do his own thing but again he wasn't going up against the best in the game I mean it was sort of like him against himself and he would show these incredible Feats of eating um and then he would be he would be done like I'm sure he will look to put his best foot forward in what's probably the final major eating event of his career but it's like you you can be really good but you can be out of the game for a while to come back in you don't just step in with a heavyweight champ you know four five years out of retirement now I know he's only been technically retired for a little bit but I mean he has not been in the circles of greatness like with Joey Chestnut in the past so I give him no chance to beat Joey like Joey will just simply not allow himself to lose I mean if kobashi somehow at 65 chestnut's gonna find a way to eat 66 you know could he could he keep it close I'm sort of with you I think Joey kind of runs to me this is a mismatch and what's interesting is going to be whether they can hit the totals and the total number of uh of dogs eating and really the Intrigue is going to be in these the the rules of the fact that it's going to be a very very different weight just the timing of the amount of digestion that you're going to need bringing down these hot dogs in a very different way than they're normally going down that is that that has to affect their efficiency and I mean I think it will it might affect Kobayashi even more than it will affect Joey considering you know the training what he can do with his jaw but the bottom line is if you're having a dry hot dog you realize that there's either going to be times where you're going to need to be drinking and putting in like you just can't combine it all which has been part of the key to these incredible record setting numbers that have been put up over the course of the last decade starting with Kobayashi but then Joey Chestnut kind of carrying the mail for the better part of the last 15 years um don't even think about 12 to one on Kobayashi to win this that would be that would make the Miracle on Ice look like a chalky pick um and again you know the other thing to to consider I guess is this is the winning margin of dogs like I think AI is going to have a really tough time probably even getting in and around like into the low 40s that's why I like that 15 I like the over 15 and a half the the dog line I think I think we we roll at that that's my favorite bet I do like under 49 and a half on kobashi as well I just can't bring myself to to to betting against Jaws here so though that's probably where I'm going to lie um I know you said you're it's G to be an under Fest for you but I think we got to build some sort ride with hus whether it's one of your favorite props from from unfinished beef maybe a bombers win or maybe it's a it's an odd from from bash and Berlin but we need a ride with hus it's a big weekend it's Labor Day weekend the fact that the Labor Day classic uh you're on the hus bus heading heading to to Saskatchewan lining up with this event like we we would we would not be doing ourselves Justice and service I have a question for you because I admit I'm not a netfli I I don't I watch so much Sports I don't have Netflix is net like can you get WWE Lines Netflix on your phone if you're a subscriber yeah yeah there's an app you can definitely yeah you can watch Netflix on perfect well the the WWE in the weekend because it's tough tough lines man really tough lines well that's the thing and you know what these the the premium Live Events if you will um are are tough like I'm surprised that CM Punk is because so CM Punk is fighting Drew McIntyre they've had this great Feud I mean it's overseas but Drew McIntyre is a Scottish guy so I mean it's not like it's a home F I mean I would love I I'm not a punk guy so I would love to see Drew smash him but man at minus 625 and plus 355 and I believe this is like a strap match if I'm not mistaken is yes the old school strap match the minute you get that sort of thing in you know he'll get tied up or something like that and you know so CM Punk's probably the one the the most interesting the most interesting number and the most reasonable number of it all is Damen priest and Ria Ripley going up against Dominic Mysterio and Liv Morgan um minus 175 for priest and Ripley Dom and Liv plus 125 there is obviously the potential that you know the Judgment Day guys could come in and somehow manage to cheat their way to a victory for Liv and Dom um I don't know whether that would really changing that would just kick the the can down the road where they are going to get to is eventually ran Liv for the for the Women's Championship so Liv's going to still have the title Beyond this I think priest and Ria Ripley win this match I like the minus 175 and to be honest like I we were talking about how some of the odds are just so wild I'm surprised that this isn't more along the lines of a 250 or a minus 300 so I think we actually get some half decent value so maybe we'll we'll roll with that one for a little uh ride with hus um Kevin Owens is going up against Cody rhods for the uh the uh the WWE Championship the Undisputed love Kevin Owens but it's not happening Cody's gonna be the guy for the while um here okay here's another really interesting one the women's Tag Team Championship the Unholy Union against Bianca Bair and Jade Cargill and this one's close it's 102 for the Champs and minus 133 for Bianca belir and Jade I can only see I mean Bianca belir and Jade are so much bigger than these other two I wasn't even familiar with them actually when they shockingly won at was it Mania or SummerSlam whatever it was it was actually the one in Scotland because they're uh Alba and isad Scottish whatever lasses so yes to be honest I'm my Spidey senses are tingling right now just the fact that Bianca and Jade are such a short favorite like I would think that this would be minus 5,000 or minus 10,000 you know with how what big stars are I think that they win the only way that they don't is if they are starting to start the breakup eventually these two are going to be going head-to-head against each other um I I think that's where it's going hus I think there is some sort of miscommunication between the two and because of that there's a dist raction it's one of their fault they don't fully go like I don't think Jade Cario goes full heel turn just yet but I think there is something that's going to start to build up that one of them are going to turn turn on them Unholy Union will retain their title and it's going to lead up to maybe when we see Survivor series or one of these other big PL or maybe it's in the new year that they finally have it but I don't think it's the full-blown heel turn I mean if there was a the heel turn then for sure we know it just Jake bamas the king of the fishy line Unholy Union at minus 102 and Bianca and Jade only being minus 133 that's the fishy doesn't feel right to bet the under Joey Chestnut so let's just take the total dogs eaten 1175 because listen even if Joey got to his number and actually hit the over if kobashi misses by a few then we still hit the under so I think the total you good with that the under 117 a half hot dogs eaten overall um so we got the one minus 120 on that let's just see what it would be so listen if you put it in- 102 - 175 and minus 120 comes to plus 471 so we're probably going to be in in around five to one on this sucker um once we get it put up but yes the Unholy Union so we're going going for the Tag Team Champions to hold and some controversy to start between Bianca belir and Jade Cargill we've got priest and Ria Ripley to beat Dom and live and then we wait till Monday afternoon for the under 117.5 total hot dogs eaten between Kobayashi and Joey Chestnut in Long awaited Head to-head match um love it we'll get that up in the exclusives right away folks and uh make it happen Patty great
