No power at senior apartments in New Orleans for 2 days after Hurricane Francine

Some of you called to our attention. The plight of some senior citizens who were out sweltering in the heat since their apartment lost power two days ago. Yeah, we have some good news to report tonight. Their power was restored just a little while ago. Eleanor to bone caught up with them earlier as they were sitting outside because their apartments were just too hot. It was all in, in darkness. That's all you can see. The dark, no lights nowhere. Calvin Payne is one of many residents at redemption apartments without power. We're cooking some white beans had a stir in the pot. Today is in the last night. The New Ors Health Department said they're aware of the situation saying they've been actively working with the building manager since before the storm. In a statement, the health department said in part, the complex has three buildings, two are without power and one building does have power, but the elevator was undergoing maintenance work before the storm and is out of service. The health department says they're working with city agencies to distribute ice water and secure resources. No one's asking for anything elaborate or extravagant. They're really just asking for basic things. They want a hot and they want their voices to be heard. Angel Chung Kno says she heard people were in need and she wanted to help. I mean, that was really challenging and really devastating to experience and I'm just doing what I would want people to do for my parents. So til the power comes back on, I'd rather be out here. The company that manages the apartment hr I communities says they provided daily updates to the New Orleans emergency emergency preparedness department.
