I I know how big a fan you are the big round numbers but does 20 mean anything for you this year 21 would be cool for obvious reasons uh yeah I mean it's it's nice um you know just looking back on know how my past couple years have gone um and uh how my season really started this year uh you know it makes I feel good about being able to you know hit 20 homes and I'm sure what a lot of people think I would have done it probably not you know but you know that's why I don't that's why I don't look at them for what I know I can do and um to be in this position and to be hit that Mark um yeah you know it makes me it makes me smile tonight you know so um so yeah it's uh it's nice to be at that number with a handful of games left you still set numeric Milestone goals at this point in your career is it just more process and then if you follow the process results are come yeah that's kind of the way that I look at it I don't necessarily put numbers in front of me but um you know it's more of an approach and how can I stay consistent and you know that's been the hardest thing for me over the years I mean I would say probably honestly since 2020 um just trying to find ways to be consistent um you know it's been it's been a challenge um so I've felt like I've been in a in a in a place the last you know month and a half or so um where I feel like I've been able to be consistent and I haven't been able to do that in a very long time so um that's more of what I'm uh I'm proud of right now and um being able to know that I can maintain it no matter where I'm at that day really no matter how how bad I'm feeling um I can I can I can be consistent so um yeah it's been it's been good but uh I know if I can do that then then good things can happen you think you're a better hitter now than you were than the guy that used to put up these numbers routinely 10 years ago uh yeah I mean everyone says it right you get to this point in your career and you know you get the same cliche thing like if I knew now what I knew then like you know when I was at the height of my career and you know steing bases and and uh you know hitting for average and Power Man what I could have done you know but you change with the game you know it's just it's just the game and I think uh I think I think I'm the same hitter um I don't know I don't know if i' say better I think uh I've definitely gotten better over the last five six seven eight I don't know how many years it's been but um I've gotten better um and I've gotten myself back to where I feel like I can be um but uh I don't know if I'm better but I I think I think I'm relatively you know I think I'm the same as as as far as like what I just talked about just being consistent and knowing that I can I can I can post up you know anytime anytime I get out there and I'm in the Box you know it's it's not have a good game and then six seven eight games pass and you really haven't done much and then you have a decent game the next then you finally have a okay game and then you don't post for three four five games you know so um yeah I think I'm just kind of back to what I when I was having good really good years uh I think I'm in a better in a good spot almost in that same spot Shelty talked about the 3-2 pitch that you took for the walk tonight do you swing at that 10 years ago swing at that pitch I don't know probably not um I don't think I do it's not fitting my narrative you say probably not you're supposed to say yeah man I was I was D I mean no I had a I had 400 on base percentage like you know I'm not I'm not swinging at that back in my really my 10 years ago you know like I'm I'm still my eye is still in a good spot there's not obvious I mean what stat cast 14 2014 15 um so there's not many stats for that uh but it'd be cool to know exactly where I was at then 10 11 12 12 years ago as opposed to now when it comes to chase when it comes to guys are guys guys pitch better they knew how um guys didn't have power power pass passs you know I didn't have that 96 plus um don't have the spin the ride you know they had to learn and really know how to pitch guys were throwing 90 to 93 a little sink little cut they slider so they had to know how to pitch so they're they're around the Zone a little more um so I can't hitting's not easier by any means but um 9 I don't know man I don't know I don't know how to answer that I don't know cut uh given given how last season given how last season ended for you um how much more does it mean to you that you were able to do that do what you did tonight do it in mid September and be you know be healthy and that little play and and to bounce back from that injury the way you have yeah um you know that was a that was a tough that was a tough injury but just from the simple fact that I've never experienced that before um you go into the off season you know I'm in a boot of not doing much because I can't and you know having to play catch up in the offseason which is what it really felt like uh get to Spring and I just I didn't feel like I was ready yet I was barely I was running but really not in run bases really yet so I was doing all this stuff while trying to get up to speed with the game and I just wasn't there um so um it a it a challenging injury but um you know I've been I've been in a good spot with that and you know I've had some you know a little hiccups with you know my knee and that come some sometimes comes and goes and um you know I'm not 100% knowing is at this point in the year but um it's nice to still be on two feet and being able to go out and play a game so even though I'm not running how I want to run you know I can still hit and you know running is running you know I I can't can't be you know 28 feet per second down the line but you know I'm going to do my best and yeah it's nice to still be here in September yeah still be you take pride in being able to you know accomplish these significant things that are you know sign significant to the franchise you know just different marks and things like that and just be mentioning the same breath as you know greates like ker and starel yeah it's cool but I I it's still there still a sour taste in my mouth with that because I wasn't here my whole career so um it's nice to be able to be with those guys and those greats it's amazing but be cool if I was here my whole career didn't see where I'll be at but that that won't change things right so you know I it is what it is you know it's it's nice but every time I hear it I'm like dang man if only you know so I just kind of just go cool and then I just move on okay
