so we expected maybe there was going to be a tweak to the overtime rules i don't think we expected just in the postseason what's your reaction to this change jeff i'm not surprised listen there was enough bellyaching after this thing i'm a purist mike tomlin and i see eye to eye on this thing right i mean everybody acts like you know buffalo didn't have a chance to win the chief should have never scored in in in regular time much less overtime so it is what it is this is the way people want to make it feel like every quarterback gets a chance uh never mind defense but but uh i i'm not surprised by it i again i'm i'm one of those purists who liked the sudden death and the way we had it i thought was even better so it is what it is but we'll move forward and have some fun watching some playoff games hopefully with some new overtime rules baby yeah look i'm with you from the purist standpoint it's like defense make a stop and this isn't an argument but are you surprised that they changed the complete format of a football game for just the playoffs and didn't implement this into the regular season no i i listen i think they're trying to get players off the field during regular season and they know when you get the playoffs everybody knows it's it's a kind of a one and done mentality so that you're not worried about record you're worried about playing until the game is over so i'm assuming this just makes them feel better about each quarterback you know the whole looking at josh allen on the sideline and just you know the sad face and all the bills fans and it is brutal but again if you play defense uh you know at the end of the regul and regular time you ultimately win the game so um but but it is what it is and again i think it's fine to have two different sets of rules one for regular season one for the playoffs i actually prefer it that way if it's going to move to this uh you know this style in the playoffs thanks for watching espn on youtube for live streaming sports and premium content subscribe to espn plus
