yo what's going on guys it's Houston Sports Talk Back another the video to day and today we're going to be talking about Spencer arag Getti as Spencer arag Getti is slowly turning into a star for the Houston Astros now I don't I wouldn't consider Spencer arti as a star but I think what what we've seen from Spencer arag Getti recently that you could say with what we've seen from such a young pitcher at the age of 24 years old that he could be headed on the way to a future star for the Astros at such a young age in the next couple years I think he could be a very solid pitcher for the Astros and he's already doing a really good job in helping out the rotation right now uh he's he's a guy that's really taken advantage of the Astros injuries this year and his last two outings he has absolutely been spectacular I love that Spencer arti went out there in a big stage in his first ever outing you know at finway Park which is outside of Yankee Stadium and maybe Dodgers Stadium as well I think finway Park is probably um the and and for some some pitchers or hitters or anybody making their debuts um you know in a in in a certain park it could always be different some some might be most excited or nervous for Dodger Stadium some some might be the same way for Yankee Stadium or finway Park those are three of the most famous and you know cool Stadium in the league there are other great stadiums of course now I don't really like the teams uh of of those stadiums uh absolutely hate those teams don't like is is a very big understatement but to be honest with everybody even though I don't like the Dodgers I don't like the Yankees and I don't like the Red Sox those are cool parks to be honest uh the green monster is awesome I love the I've always loved the green monster in Boston it's just a classic Park then same thing goes with Dodger Stadium and Yankee Stadium as well even though you hate the teams you can respect the park um and so that that has to be a moment for him on a national televis game National national televis game a place that you know every pitcher but it probably dreams about pitching at and having an outing like that uh and for people who didn't know who he was outside of Astros fans potentially watching that game on FS1 he really got to show the who don't you know know who he is what he's what he's got um and what did he do with in Boston I'm going to go over what he did he pitched seven Innings giving up two hits and two runs two two home runs now that was the only negative of his outing he gave up two runs two hits both were home runs um and he only gave it one walk which is really good for him if you look at his outings um one walk in in this outing uh against Boston outside look if you look at all of his all of his starts in 2024 as a rookie uh there are only two other starts as a rookie where he does not have two or more walks uh the first one was against the Colorado Rockies on June 28th where he had zero and then against the uh LA Dodgers on on July 28th he had um or no was it was there was a team he only had one uh it was it was it was one against the Oakland Athletics on July 22nd so in 21 starts this was his 21st start this was only his third outing where he went below two walks so walks have been an issue for him in this game he didn't have any first or only second game of his career with uh or sorry third game of his career uh giving up that few of walks and the Boston Red Sox are a team that you know get a decent amount of walks if you look at his game against a rocky they're a team who you know strike out a bunch and that's where you know he got a bunch of strikeouts uh I don't think it's as impressive of you know getting and to be honest giving up no walks against the Rockies is probably more impressive than only giving up one against the Red Sox if we're going to compare the the two offenses uh just to be completely honest but um it was was a great outing he pitched seven Innings get two hits two runs two earned runs one only one walk but I forgot the most important part well I didn't forget I was just waiting to leave it at last and that's 13 strikeouts and keep in mind he got this this outing done in 92 pitches his last outing pitched six innings was 100 pitches so 92 pitches in seven Innings he's only gone seven Innings a couple times in his career this was only the second time in his career he's gone seven in in funny out the the other seven inning outing was against the Rockies on June 26th um but it being the second time he's gone seven outings um and in in that seven outing against the uh Colorado Rockies he actually even more impressive that was 89 pitches so um his seven inning outings he's been able to you know keep the pitch count pretty good to be honest but um and it's not just this outing Force arag Getti where we look at and say oh my God he's a monster he went seven Innings only giving up two runs uh one walk 13 strike out but look at his last outing um his last outing before Boston against Tampa Bay Ray the Tampa Bay Rays at home he had one game with one start uh or it was it was one start uh or it was a start for arti he went six Innings came went five hits one run uh he gave up two walks and had 12 strikeouts so in his last two outings he's pitched 13 Innings give getting 25 strikeouts he almost has double the amount of strikeouts than innings in his last two outings for a rookie 25 strikeouts and two outings pitching 13 Innings is insane for a rookie uh who has had struggles early on in the year um now even his start before that this is not as great as a start but going up against the Dodgers lineup that that's pretty good this is a good this is a start if you ask me on July 28th he pitched six Innings giving up four hits three runs um two walks with eight strikeouts those are good numbers against the Dodgers eight strikeouts against the Dodgers a team that does not strike out often and going six Innings only giving up three runs against the Dodgers team who sure they are injured they don't have Max Muny they don't have uh they don't have uh what's his name uh mookie vetts they don't they didn't even have Freddy Freeman in that in that uh game but this is still a Dodgers team that still has sh Otani who killed it in that game um tasar Hernandez who's had a great year and other pieces in that lineup who are really good still a good lineup without uh Mookie Betts Freddy Freeman and um and Max money it's not Max mty it's not a monster lineup but for a rookie pitcher to go up against a lineup with Shoon tasar Hernandez and all the other guys in that lineup Gavin Lux all the other dudes in that lineup who were having a good season uh that that's definitely tough for a rookie pitcher for him to go six Innings only giving it three runs and only four hits with eight strikeouts and that's a Dodgers team who doesn't strike out often those are some great numbers so it's really three starts in a row now for him where he's he's doing a great job his last three starts um he's pitched a total of it is I believe 19 19 innings in his last 19 innings in his last three starts in his last three starts he's only given up 11 hits in 19 Innings he's only given up a total of six runs and uh also has a total of 33 strikeouts in his last three starts that's averaging 11 strikeouts in his last three starts as a rookie uh now look he's had other outings recently where you know you look at it and say Hey you know he's looking really good I mean uh you can look at an outing on July 13th against the Tex Rangers he got the start of course went six Innings only gave up two hits with one run and one earned run and had a total of seven strikeouts against the Rangers uh you can look at the Minnesota Twins very solid Road outing uh and honestly he he has he has been terrible on the road this Boston outing was the best we've seen him one of the best outings or the best outing we've seen from him on the road he really only has two good road starts out of 11 this was a solid Ro Road start for him on July 7th against the twins he went five innings he did give up seven hits but only gave up two runs and had six strikeouts on the road like I mentioned he struggles on the road so that is a good outing for a guy who's struggling on the road who's a rookie not bad at all there for Spencer arag Getti uh if I want to keep going a little bit I'm going to go to June 26th against the um against the Colorado Rockies he got the win he pitched seven Innings only giving up three hits no runs with 10 strikeouts um couple other solid outings that I want to go over that were in June um against the I'm going to go over a couple but against the was June 10th against the Giants another good road start he with almost six Innings only giving up four hits and one run with a total of six strikeouts and that's really it I mean there are other good starts that he's had this year but those are some of the top ones I want to go over that have been in the last two months recently uh but he has showed a lot of really good things in the last couple months for the Houston Astros uh and for a rookie he's really turning into a good pitcher for the stros and this is a guy who has been killing his last three starts like I mentioned in 19 in 19 Innings he's only given up six runs and he has a total of 33 strikeouts that's averaging 11 strikeouts per outing as a rookie who's 24 years old and uh some of those some of those you know you know games right there are going up against the teams who don't don't strike out often the rays are a team that strike out a lot but the Dodgers don't strike out often the Red Sox don't strike out a lot either and he picked up 13 strikeouts on them today so he's killing it right now and one thing I said after the Tampa Bay Rays outing is that this guy can become a dangerous starter if he learns how to pitch on the road because um we have seen him really struggle on the road there's only been a couple good outings on the road this year but before look if you look before the Boston start today where he killed it uh there were only a couple really good or or you know above average starts for him on the road where you look at it and has some great outings like he has at home I look at the Minnesota outing where he only gave up two runs in five innings on the road that was good um I also look at uh his outing against the Giants in San Francisco where he went almost six Innings and only gave it one run and four hits with six strikeouts that's a good road outing um I look at a road outing which is probably was his best road outing before the Boston game uh in Seattle against the Mariners he goes six Innings only giving up two hits with no runs and eight strikeouts um and and outside of that um I mean that that's really it where he has good road starts I mean maybe you could say Oakland going five innings only giving up three runs with three sorry with seven strikeouts um so he's had a limited amount of success on the road this year but like I mentioned after his Tampa Bay start if he can learn how to pitch better on the road which it being understanding be you know it being understanding that he's struggled on the road this season with him being a rookie but if he can learn how to pitch on the road he's a dangerous pitcher for the Astros and my my wish came true because he pitched amazing for the Astros yesterday only gave up two runs 133 strikes outs against a good Red Sox lineup um great outing for Spencer arag Getti and that that's three four outings in a row now where he's really killing for the Ros and if he can keep doing this he's a dangerous piece of the rotation and honestly a couple weeks ago if you would have asked me is Spencer arag a guy who can help out the Astros as a starter uh in the playoffs is he a guy who if if absolutely needed to be can he be a start in the postseason I would have told you absolutely not he's potentially changing mind a little bit I don't think he'll have to be a starter because if Justin Verlander gets healthy and you don't even get just saying if Luis Garcia does not come back and you get Justin Verlander back you have Verlander you have Hunter Brown you have Valdez you have reell Blanco you you have usus Kikuchi and then there's Spencer arti I don't think you would you'd have to have him as a starter in the postseason I think the guys that would potentially probably be starters for the Astros in the postseason would be Verlander Blanco Valdez and Hunter Brown and then us Kikuchi and and Spencer arti would be the two bpin guys but uh he's pitched really good recently and if he can keep it up maybe he could be a starter for the Astros in the postseason I think he'd have to keep playing at this level though for that to happen let me know your thoughts on the Astros uh Spencer erti starting pitcher just killing it recently and I love what I'm seeing from him I know Eric gti's gotten a lot of hate this year um and a lot of people in my opinion if you ask me a lot of people forget that this guy is a 24-year-old rookie after Tampa Bay Ray start which is absolutely nuts to me after he goes six Innings with 12 strikeouts only giving up one run I saw someone put out a tweet on X uh or post on X whatever you want to call it uh saying that we needed a DFA Spiner arag Getti which absolutely blow my mind and I I made the idiot choice to have a uh argument with him on X which there was no uh there was no AB there was absolutely no way of you know putting any different thought in his mind uh he couldn't understand why a 24y old pitcher has had struggles this year he even said that Hunter Brown sucked to said that he basically said that everybody sucked and uh you know and he and some of the players that he was saying were doing a great job uh we're not I mean like he was saying like I don't understand why we DFA ralo Montero and and and didn't DFA spenc arti he was just an idiot to be completely honest um but had this argument with this guy but you know just saying DFA spenc edti after he goes six outings sorry six Innings and has 12 strikeouts and only gives up one run I mention that this person says oh that's only that's only his one good outing I'm like yes as he had his struggles but that's not his one good only outing uh so uh yeah he's doing some solid things but if he can keep it up he's really good he's he has a really good future for the Astros but look he he could you know get out of this hot you know streak he's in right now and absolutely continue to struggle and I still think he has a good future for the Astros because he is so young he is 24 years old I don't think this was the guy the Astros really expected to call up this year this is a guy just like Jake Bloss who got called up due to the injuries I think this is a guy right here who if it wasn't for all the injuries at the starting pitcher you know at the starting pitching position this year for the Astros probably doesn't get a call up until 2025 if you ask me um if the AST were healthy were more healthy he does not get a call up until 2025 uh so a guy who honestly would probably still be in Triple A if it wasn't for the injuries he's doing an amazing job right now um so yeah love what I'm seeing from spiter arti but he has to keep it up let me know your thoughts on him in the comment section and peace out go Astros
