Mayor London Breed speaks after 49ers player Ricky Pearsall shot in San Francisco

We're happy to tell you that Pearsall is in stable condition here at SF general. A major response from the city tonight. We just wrapped up a press conference with the police chief. The district attorney and Mayor London Breed. Here's what she had to say about the incident. He has a bright future, and I look forward to seeing him recover and get back on the field. I'm also grateful for the quick action of our police officers, who immediately, within a minute responded to the situation, apprehended the suspect. Their work ensures. She also reiterated that it was extremely rare to have a shooting in Union Square. In fact, she mentioned that recently police had beefed up their presence there in Union Square. Also, we heard from the district attorney who said that she is going to pursue this to the fullest extent of the law and continue with the investigation, and likely the charges will be released sometime mid week. Now we can tell you that that 17 year old suspect, who was actually shot when he was in a scuffle with Mr. Pearsall, he was shot. He is now in stable condition and he is also here at San Francisco General Hospital. Now, the police chief said that it did not appear that he specifically targeted Pearsall because he was a 49ers. He would not disclose if he was after any particular item that Pearsall was having. So right now, the press conference just wrapped up, we will say that the 23 year old again is in stable condition. We did see his father arrive here at the hospital, and we also have seen many people from the San Francisco 49ers, including the general manager
