home to their families as well well we welcome to the show Republic Tigers head football coach Ryan Cornelson coach thanks so much for your time today yeah I appreciate you having me coach a a 12 and three season a year ago all the way to the state championship game kind of put a a bow on last season if you would and maybe talk about some of those folks that you're going to have to replace due to graduation coach can you hear me can you hear me I've got you now coach go ahead okay yeah it uh it was a great experience for our for our community for our school for our program uh you know just a lot of exciting games a lot of you know uh Great Moments you know throughout that that season and had a lot of really good players you know that uh they graduated but it it sure was fun to be a part of and great uh experience for for everyone that was involved with Republic football uh obviously you know anytime you lose your quarterback that's that's a major hit and Wyatt Woods was as good as any around if if not the best around and uh you know he's he's a tough one to replace and it was just a great leader great kid uh but really we we graduate 18 starters uh basically the the entire backfield offensively uh we lose we we uh we've got two lineman back from a year ago on the offensive line and that's it from an offensive standpoint uh then defense uh we've got we've got uh a d tackle back and and a a middle linebacker um but we we lost everybody in the secondary and uh or they they change positions but yeah so it's going to be a lot of new faces a lot of inexperience um a lot of guys that uh you know we had uh Kendall kerbo and uh Cole gimin were were really good defensive players for us for three years uh crolls our fullback you know I can go through the list of guys we lost it's it's a lot a lot of those guys played as from sophomore year so they've been threeyear starters uh and so that's tough to replace but we're excited for the challenge and you know again uh they got to see what it what it's like when you're successful and hopefully that keeps them hungry uh going into the season what uh what's the summer been like and what have your numbers been like over the summer uh it's it's been good you know our you know again we're like anybody else we got kids that are that are multiport athletes that uh that we do you know hit and miss with some of those guys on the other stuff they're doing uh but uh we I think we checked out a little over a hundred in our 10th through 12th grade then about 45 freshmen uh for the most part the majority of those kids all all show up unless they you know unless they got some multiport stuff going on so our numbers are are good that's that's about where we want them um and and so uh kids have worked hard like I said they're excited for their chance that you know they they've had some success at the JV and freshman level uh now it's their chance to to step up and fill some spots and um you know it's it's a whole whole new look for us just with uh you know our entire Back Field offensively being new so uh a lot of learning a lot of lot of growing this summer and trying to get better uh but it's it's been exciting they're they're you know they're they're working hard and that's always good to see between now and and opening day of practice uh what's your schedule like do you have many more days with them here in in July yeah so we we we don't do uh any seven on seven or any team Camp so we we take our 20 days and it's it's basically practice uh we'll you know we'll some days we'll live some days we'll practice uh but uh we see them every every Monday through Thursday um whether we're we're lifting or practicing or both you know uh so we we still got some days left of practice we've we've you know uh we don't do as much in June uh just because basketball and baseball are so heavy in June uh so we we push some of ours to the back end of July or towards July uh and so we still got some days left and hopefully Improvement uh we can make through July now the new conference uh kind of affiliation of teams coming into the conference really hasn't changed your schedule much other than maybe Waynesville and kapoo yeah that's that it uh you know obviously the the the conference was was really tough and you know you had had you know kapoo and Glendale and some of those schools Lebanon obviously uh just makes it that much tougher uh you know it's going to be it was a dog it's always a dog fight in the CC but that that just added to it so uh you know great conference great competition each week and and uh hopefully that makes for a lot of good football teams in the area with it being so uh you know a lot of folks on vacation did you get an opportunity to to go on vacation do anything special yeah we uh right after uh State Track and and prior to uh summer starting there was a week there and uh I've got I've got two older kids one both are in high school now but we've got a six-year-old so we took her to Disney World and uh you know stood in line for a while and did that whole deal but uh so that was that was kind of our vacation this year was taking the Young young one to to the happiest place on Earth you bet coach uh Hey again congratulations on a tremendous season last year uh that's behind us now good luck as you go forward and thanks so much for
