I'm dad I'm Darren with me this is our four-year-old daughter arabella now nearly two-year-old son George and I right there I'll say active here he's um he's a happy boy let's hope he doesn't find the footsteps of that it's like they've is really rather than in last Easter George was diagnosed with a brain tumor it's caught up in ependymoma which is quite quite rare and quite aggressive straight after his MRI is oh they rushed him straight to surgery where they removed a tumor roughly about the size of a golf ball following that we relocated over through to the Royal Children's here in Melbourne where George underwent six rounds of chemotherapy that lasted eight months after six rounds of chemotherapy he had six weeks of radiation had an MRI today and thankfully it's shown that no observable cancer cells down at the moment so a good day for us just before we started chemotherapy our oncology team told us that they would have to push George's life right to the brink to save him and I guess I didn't really understand that until it actually started in front of my eyes he's just been amazing fighter George was unable to go see work to communicate you think even my highest amount of pain relief that could possibly give a child every day unfortunately we did spend a time in ICU where we didn't know what the outcome was going to be that's how much chemokine we can do to a little boy's body their relatives via email has been absolutely amazing it's the world class facilities and organisation that you will kindly towards what we're seeing as i sentence you have for any files you know we don't wait for anything if they want you to have a scan or a blood test or an x-ray or see a different sort of specialist happen for a name he's going to have a speech therapy he's going to need to learn how to eat we can be the other challenge because he had so many months there he wasn't an hour and eating at all he said I have to ask you do therapy done some of the limit them chemotherapy drugs have actually turned your face out through the wrong way with his phone off patient el piso doesn't be challenging and then we'll be back here in three months time again to have another MRI scan as I'm Darren said George was type of brain cancer is a very aggressive type so it can grow back really far couldn't speak highly of what stone both tickets osmania and what the APA straight away I didn't even have to approach anyone they approached me from from the day I guess it was known to the public what would it happen to George there was our standing offers of support and help whatever we needed yep so those two things of the first was the state's take into a little little fundraiser for it and that's raised some much-needed funds for us to be able to relocate and be together as a family and was really really nice gesture halfway through his treatment where they've done an annual leave drive where west ass was able to donate a day or two of the annual leave so they managed to get to raise another six weeks then you'll leave for me the HDA offered to pay out our mortgage bowler in Melbourne so that was tell it up to be ten thousand dollars over over six months period which was just a real relief for us that we financially we were we're going to be okay we're going to be able to keep our house and not and not have to not have to remortgage it or sell it on behalf of the Whitney's family would like to thank the ACA and the players and its members through as part of the player hardship fund so after the support that was received in abled us to get through George's treatment as comfortable as you can't would also like to thank the deutsche bank for providing the funds to the eighth the eighth player hardship [Music]
