High School football is officially in session and joining us today is Steve Carlson with T-Mobile to talk about how T T-Mobile is turning up the competition I I have to say great to see you Steve what is T-Mobile doing for high school football teams and this is across the country yeah well as you know Tom there's nothing bigger on Friday nights in small towns in high school football which is why T-Mobile kicked off Friday night 5G lights a nationwide competition inspiring High School to submit their stories and tell us why they should get a multi-million dollar football field upgrade we're talking things like a $100,000 cash Grant a brand new tech out scoreboard 5G Network upgrades the ultimate tailgate party and the icing on the cake a brand new weight room Bron Fitness and our partner in Friday night 5G lives four-time Super Bowl champion Rob gr C you you know it sounds like what T-Mobile is offering you almost could have you all come in do your thing and you could almost build a high school around it this is a huge prize is it not yes it is and not only is that the grand prize but we also have great prizes for the finalist and for hundreds of other schools to win something too in October we're gonna announce 16 finalists that are going to win $25,000 each plus an awesome home football game celebration and every Friday between now in September 20th we're awarding $5,000 to 300 schools so every week we announce another group of 50 winning schools and there's still a couple weeks left to get involved they can win that $5,000 and use it for things like uniforms travel expenses facilities anything they need and then the big grand prize the multi-million dollar prize is going to be announced in December this is huge I mean absolutely huge okay what what types of schools are eligible how how can they get involved with this yeah Friday night 5G lights is open to high schools and towns with populations of 150,000 or less so there are lots of schools in the Springfield area that can get involved already Monet high school and Miller High School have gotten in the game so we're really excited to see that I'd love to come back and talk about some other winners that is terrific okay we've already got a couple of schools now okay the this begets the question why is T-Mobile doing this yeah Friday night 5G lights is all about our celebration of the Investments we've made in rural communities across the us and it started with 5G for all which is a a fiveyear commitment we announced a few years ago to bring 500,000 square miles of more highspeed connectivity to the us we're also opening 600 retail stores across real communities too and Friday night 5G lights is is that natural extension of it's another way for us to share our commitment to rural communities with the are that are so important to us yeah T-Mobile is part of everybody's Community that's kind of what it sounds like now you know we're we're we're kind of targeting high schools here how can the general public get involved with something like this can they like send votes in or or anything like that yes once your high school enters and and they should go to Friday night 5G lights.com to do that have a coach a teacher or School administrator fill out the form and then the whole Community can get involved on Instagram there are uh suggestions and ideas for communities to get involved also on the website at Friday night5 lights.com it it's pretty simple Friday night5 lights.com and you can put your two cents in and maybe a whole bunch of sents could come to your local Highway Steve thank you so much for being with us and thank you to T-Mobile for you know making high school football a lot of fun thank you thank you so much out
