Intro A first of its kind medical program is coming to the Treasure Valley next year. Really exciting. Idaho State University announced it's bringing Idaho's first nurse anesthesia program to Meridian. And RJ Binkley spoke with the program's director about the need. Isu hopes to fill J Morgan Hunter. The director of this program says it's been difficult for health care providers to hire anesthetists because you have to go out of state to be trained. And many of those trainees they stay out of state. Nurse Anesthesia Program Green leaves signal a serene summer before the change to autumn, changes around the Treasure Valley including one coming to Idaho State University's Meridian campus. We just felt like this is the best place to give the best opportunity to students to become the best anesthesia providers is announced. It will be bringing the first nurse anesthesia program to the state of Idaho program director, Chad Westover says they're looking to help solve a shortage over the last few years. Nurse Anesthesia Shortage We've seen a bigger shortage in the area of anesthesia providers that we than we've ever seen. A big reason for that lack of personnel is that there's no program in Idaho, the three year program. It's quite rigorous but very rewarding is for nurses with experience and critical care. They've just been waiting for something like this to come because they don't have the ability to leave the state to go to another program for one reason or another, a new program and new opportunity to help New Program change the landscape of Idaho's health care industry. Right now, students come from out of state to be detained here in some places and then they leave the state. Uh We want to take students from this area to train them here and keep them here. And we feel like it's the best long term solution for this critical shortage that we're facing right now in anesthesia providers. And the program has plans to start and fall of 2025. Accreditation And there is an informational meeting being held tomorrow at is U's Meridian Campus for anyone interested. And we do have details in our web story up at K TV b.com. Ok. Dude, I came from an accredited uh university with my department. So, is this accredited yet? So they're working towards that? They got their uh state and regional accreditation this month and they're working toward their national accreditation right now. Big things, big things, very exciting for the valley. All right, dude. Thank you.
