Transfer Portal: Quarterbacks making moves

Dave Barry here alongside National recruiting director Adam gourney and today Adam we're talking transfer portal there's been a lot of activity there before the window actually opens uh here in about a week but let's talk about the quarterback uh position specifically you have will Howard Tyler van djk Will Rogers and Max brosmer all already in the portal what kind of effect does that have on the quarterback position across all of college football yeah there are a ton of quarterbacks jumping in and just like recruiting where quarterbacks go out fast I think uh a lot of these quarterbacks even before the portal window opens on Monday have kind of put their names in and want schools to know that they're available you know Will Rogers is sort of an interesting one because the coach that just took over at Mississippi State Jeff lebby kind of runs the offense that Will Rogers really fits in well with so it'll be interesting to see if leby kind of goes after him and tries to get him back um but he's in the portal a guy that's wants to throw it around a lot can run can make plays I think he's an interesting one to watch will Howard little bit surprised surprising to me maybe uh it's been made clear at Kansas state that Avery Johnson is the future of the program there because will Howard the starter this year and Jake rubley the backup um Are all uh are both in the portal so that's one to watch Tyler van djk is a kid who had been you know playing phenomenally well um you know and then really just sort of fell off a cliff um at Miami kind of lost confidence came back late in the season um um and I think really needs a fresh start he's a kid who I think can really use the transfer portal to excel with one more year before going to the NFL uh Max brosmer is the interesting one he's he was at New Hampshire he threw for almost 3500 yards he had 29 touchdowns and five interceptions Minnesota has already offered him in the portal he's also gotten some mac looks but this is a kid I think once schools really get a feel um for what their quarter back room looks like uh could get really big Power five opportunities because he likes to throw it around he threw it more than 450 times this year so he's going to look for an offense where he can make a lot of plays and he has the ability to make them all right well yeah good stuff there gorney uh we've got a lot of activity ahead of the transfer portal window and of course a lot of activity expected as we near national Signing Day so I remind everybody go to rivals.com click on transfer portal get all the news surrounding the in the transfer portal Adam thank you very for your time thanks
