hours we are out at the Stonehenge River Lodge here with the Department of Economic Development environment conservation and tourism launching tourism month is also every month and it's cleanup month I'm currently joined in our studio by um who is the founder of inyala Tours and she's also part of um the Dr KK women and tourism Association good morning let's give you welcome to UFM you're looking so lovely and bright I think if if really if the tourism were to be a person you would be the person because it's supposed to be just as bright and beautiful [Laughter] I'm exercising my recently acquired recently acquired I was wondering [Laughter] then I will say now then I will say fashion house everywhere thank you laughs thank you how do you say thank you Cece Cece let's get into it briefly share with us um watch your business is about you are the founder of vanilla tours when did you when did you establish it uh why the need and what is it that you do yo I started in 2005. it was not easy like I was a Dropout no work so I was hired in one of the traveling agents so you know I developed a passion but the passion to work with people started when I was in the secondary okay I like to organize I like to be involved I was always on top of things yes so I realized that this thing is in me oh no interacting with you know different people you know I would like to know their culture and so forth so after they've closed down then I started I remember I started with a group of women all right Durban I didn't know Durban but I I organized that oh you were going on a trip to Durban I organized it the whole thing it was my first trip okay so I I thought it was successful I said to myself I can do this then that's where it started oh wow it was not easy for this past 10 years you know it was self-funding I'm glad now because all this tennis you know I was in a process of learning and now I've learned a lot in such a way that I'm able even to to cater for international right yeah I love that and I want to explore so you're saying you you've always it's something that got you excited so you had to get into it and you also talk about how difficult it has been because it's self-funded the importance of of of spending money to establish your business how important is that it is important because there are things that you will want but for the success of you know wanting to grow this baby yes then you will sacrifice yes but later on you'll see that really you are reaping you didn't you didn't lose anything you had nothing to lose oh man a beautiful um let's talk about your role in women in tourism Dr KK women in tourism how did the association start as well were you part of the the founders of the association okay women in tourism is actually an in it's a national initiative that support develop and empower empowerment of women in the tourism sector yes so now it was launched provincially and it went to a different districts different districts yes and presently the coordinator there okay yes of Dr Kenneth gaunda women in tourism what are some of the the benefits of being a part of such an association as an entrepreneur and I can imagine it's also probably equally beneficial for other women who are a part of the association as well yes it's for you know they facilitate ease of Acts I mean marketing access and broad-based benefits effective marketing and destination management yes yes we support women in that way but also how important is it and I mean of course between you've probably witnessed it of course obviously between the women in the Dr KK District how important is it for that for you guys working together how is it working together do you find that women decide because uh look you sometimes women um there's a belief that women don't like why working together they don't like collaborating how is that picture when we look at it from the perspective via air Dr KK you know when you are a woman and you know you love what you do it will be easy for you to work with other women especially in the tourism sector sector yes because you know tourism is about love you need to love what you do you need to you know to love the people because uh one thing that we need to learn as as people it won't be easy for you to run your own business but it starts there with the love of what you do absolutely when you love what you do you'll you'll be able to transfer what's in you to other people alrighty um and lastly I was Gibby let's talk about the government's intervention how has it improved your business okay you know I always say to people that from the past years I mean the 10 years that I've been in business I was not assisted it was funding yes I've already explained mentioned yes yes so now you know after tennis is then that I was able to be recognized wow yeah the best assistance that I received it was from Cedar with the marketing material then it goes to uh Dr Kenneth kaunda with the equipment camping equipment then it was uh I was part of the smm is for the past three years who have been in the Northwest tourism board development program yes to participated Africa's travel in Davao wow so I'm recently now from Ghana how's that I just arrived on Monday I have traveled with South African tourism to go and Market South Africa to West Africa oh wow West Africa Road show we traveled to Ghana from Ghana we went to Nigeria Accra then we we ended at Lagos beautiful it was a very nice experience and Nigeria is not Nigeria as we are seeing it in South Africa it's it's a wonderful place
