[Music] over 35 million fans have passed through the gates of michigan stadium since it opened in 1927. it's time for the coin toss now presented by coke zero real coke taste zero calories enjoy everything [Music] [Applause] brigham young is lined up to kick the ball off first and we are ready to go he just drills this one this one's going to be down in the end zone for a touchback [Applause] so let's see what the offense can do as they come out onto the field [Music] here's an opening he makes his way out to about the 35. [Applause] from their own 35-yard line it's second down [Applause] that's a great tackle at the 45. if you can consistently run effectively like this it'll force the defense to pay more attention to the run and that creates chances in the play-action passing game [Applause] handoff up the middle he makes it to the 45-yard line he picked up a yard of anything on that run it's second and ten fall on the 45. [Music] and they get nice yardage on that run [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] tackle made around the 49-yard line the halfback picks up a yard robins is hoping to boom this one down the field gets it away wait a minute he's gonna throw and he'll take over on downs so the offense will come out for their first possession good field position for their first possession of the ball game let's see if they can capitalize off of it this guy is mostly used to stop to run but here he showed that he's not too bad against the pass either second down 10 to go ball on the 49. they'll bring him down around the 34-yard line that was a great route by the receiver it started out looking like a streak but in reality it was going to be a corner route the whole time nice job of beating the zone coverage and getting the first down [Applause] and he makes it out to about the 31-yard line [Applause] it's second down seven to go ball on the 31-yard line and he is drilled at the 24-yard line the pass is complete for seven yards and that'll be a first down and how about the poise of his quarterback to locate his receiver pass the sticks and get him the ball that was a great throw nice run there [Applause] hit second and five here ball on the 19-yard line and down he goes the seven yard line this is the kind of steady strong drive the coaches love to see right now they're firing on all cylinders [Applause] and he makes it out to about the five yard line a two yard run by the halfback nice tackle there from the freshman coming down from his position at safety and making a solid tackle on the ball carrier they're at the five hit second down give to the tailback and he's met in the backfield if you're the running back here you've got to get up dust yourself off and get set for the next play [Applause] we're at play number nine of this current drive [Music] [Applause] [Music] quick throw caught touchdown [Music] [Applause] [Music] and did that play ever develop nicely well it's all about the receiver on this play he beat his man off to line and then ran a perfect route all he had to do after that was make the catch one of the things a quarterback's looking for before the ball is snapped on a post route is to see if he has one safety in the middle of the field because with one safety you can use your eyes to move that safety and then throw back the other way for the touchdown i thought the quarterback that time did a really good job of managing that safety and eventually making the throw for the touchdown he kicks it off and he got all of that one and it sails out of the end zone for a touch back the cougars are right where they want to be early in this one partner well this is what their coach talked about getting off to a great start the defense did their job and it's nice to see the offense move the ball down the field and also get some points on the board
