video we're going to be talking about a Packer player that has been unexpectedly skyrocketing up the depth chart and by doing so he may be pushing out a couple of familiar names to us Packer fans out there who am I talking about before I break that down for you guys if you new to the channel I talk everything Packers so please take a second to hit that subscribe button the Packers currently have 12 wide receivers on the 90 man roster of course 12 cannot make the 53 man roster so that number is going to go down to six more than your shoe inss on those six wide receivers that are going to make the packer 53 man roster are your Romeo dobs your Jaden Reed your Christian Watson and your Davian Wicks you can e even make the argument that there's a fifth wide receiver out there for the Packers uh in BO Melton a guy that came into OTAs and mini camp and then training camp just looking like he put in the offseason work and it's showing that that way guy that came in last season and stepped up when they needed him too he had a big 16 receptions 2118 yards and a touchdown but more than that he was averaging over 13 yards per re so B Melton I think is that easy fifth shoe in wide receiver for the Packers so that leaves um a room uh of talented wide receivers out there to make that sixth spot on the Packer 53 man roster you got names like Jaylen Wayne Julian Hicks Rory starky Demitri Stanley samor té Grant deos and Malik Keith those are some good names for pack fans out there so who is that guy that has been unexpectedly kind of climbing that uh uh um just climbing the ladder here in Green Bay may not come as a surprise to some of you out there but when you take a look at when he was drafted last year seventh round late seventh round pick for the Packers spent um the season last year on the Packers practice squad was called up I think for one game against the the uh bears but he was a healthy scratch for the Bears so Grant de bose Grant de bose is that guy um that has been skyrocketing up the depth chart making his case as to why he should be um the Packers sixth wide receiver on this 53 man roster before some of you guys start kind of flipping out saying well you know that is an easy shoe in for us Grant deos is that guy well he spent last season on the practice squad and by doing so he's going to be pushing out a couple of big names out there like your samori to S Mori Tay seventh round pick in 2022 uh he was the uh 258th pick overall for the Packers had a decent rookie season in 2022 five receptions 82 yards and a touchdown and in two in 2023 um I think he actually took a step back he had more receptions three more receptions adding eight receptions total 78 yards U not quite as many receiving yards last year or two as opposed to his rookie season no touchdowns and you can make the argument that's because the Packers drafted so well last season um so by doing so you also would be pushing out a guy like you Malik Kei Malik Kei undrafted free agent last year for the a very nice season last year rookie season for the Packers last year 15 receptions 125 yards and a touchdown um but he was only averaging about eight yards per carry and per reception and so when you start talking um the difference between him and Bill melt B Melton again averaging just over um 13 yard per reception so uh when we start mentioning Grant deos and and what the scouts had to say about this dude entering the NFL well it's not all roses for this dude it's not as sexy as some of you may think um obviously he had a very good Collegiate year uh Collegiate uh career uh for Charlotte but here is what the the the scouts had to say about Grant deos entering the NFL the athletic said this about him he said time speed and play speed are both average at best and that's his big knock and you're going to see a re reoccurring theme here doesn't the route acceleration to easily get on top the coverage well that's problem if you're in the NFL and you're a wide receiver uh and then it says right here by draft Network struggles versus tight man um uh not Elite Speed not Elite separator pro football network had this to say about him doesn't show the burst plays at one speed and isn't a vertical threat nfl.com said lost battles against South Carolina's pass Corners lacks variety to uh to his release to slide by the by press below average deep speed and separation burst again reoccurring thing that you're hearing from Grant deos is that he doesn't have that separation burst he kind of has that one speed well I think spending some time last year on the Packers practice squad um and then putting in some work this offseason he may have been you know just improving on that but some of his strengths and this are these are you know some of the strengths that we get to see out of him and we're going to see in you know out of him in the NFL and especially if he makes the 53 man roster he's going to get some considerable amount of playing time especially we get some injuries so this would be a guy that the Packers need to step up and I what I most like about him personally is that he he's physical and he battles okay it's the athletic had this to say against about him battles back against physical coverage and exerts ownership over catch point which means he's winning those battles those 50-50 battles out there I really like that compliment um pro football network says nice side receivers with long arms uh big hands and a Dependable game sells routes plays with balance uh as well as body control and is very smooth natural catching the ball all of that so that's true and if you haven't seen some highlights at them go check it out because those are very true deform um compliments about his game and a draft Network said it best though NFL size ball skills competitiveness route running best football ahead of him I love what they said right there with the best football ahead of him because that's what Grant deos is showing that he's he's only going to get better and with the right coaching around him he's going to become a better version of himself he's going to fine-tune that skill set that is already in bred into him um so I'm excited to see what Grant deos is able to do out there but does he win the battle um between him and Malik Kei I think Sor Tay is going to find himself on the practice squad for the Packers but uh Malik Heath uh and Grant deos leave your comments let me know who do think is going to win that starting role here in Green Bay as that sixth wide receiver on the 53 roster is it going to be Malik Kei or Grant deos or or other is there going to be another guy that you think is going to make the Packers uh 53 man roster like your samori té I just don't see it happening for samori té I think it's just going to be a two-man battle between Malik Keith and um Grant debose leave your comments let me know what you guys think and as always go pack go
