oh you know what would be good let's start with the Clemson ifs tonight here we go if we can play consistent that if K goes down if Kate can make the jump if he's going with the flow on the line if we can lump it all together if players can work out their Kinks if our running offensive line can create holes for off for our running back we see these progressions that need to happen if mistakes the Jitters all that's gone if they allow themselves to be mediocre trooping the another new episode is coming up [Applause] [Music] tonight it's the show it's the show it's the show it's [Music] the you're listening to the one and only dog show your host troop Bron and smooch M [Music] creef just two news talking Georgia football that's you and me welcome dog fans to the one and only dog show with troop and smooch and finally it is game week we have arrived just a couple of days before Georgia and Clemson kick this thing off for the 2024 season and we are in our mind smooch we already there Saturday already yeah I I do not know if I've ever been more useless this early in the week on on opening weekend opening week but I am 100% useless Beyond I mean I'm just not I'm accomplishing nothing but a lot of football research that's it so yeah and I'm it's hard for me not to go on Twitter or social media and start fires and start problems with get other fan faces but everybody is so excited about their own team and uh and so you know we going to let them have that for a little while you heard at the at the top of the uh before we did our inro music where Clemson with the ifs and the ifs have to line up so well for Clemson and we're gonna talk about that in the countdown to kickoff uh today because this show is basically all about a countdown to kickoff you got it buddy we we did see uh we did see Georgia Tech and Florida State play as well let's just go aad and hit that bumper then countdown a kickoff let's do it for the whole show let's do it right now you know I just found it so I wouldn't lose it there it is countdown and kickoff baby it sounds so so perfect at countdown to kickoff and Florida State and Georgia Tech had their countdown to kickoff and they kicked it off last Saturday and strangely enough that was like that was the only way that we were going to really watch that game very close was if it was the only game and it was and it was weird to root for Georgia Tech and I just say that because I think a lot of people did even though they it's because they're not worried about tech whatsoever right but Florida State again exposed in the spotlight the light got bright and they did not perform well the worst use of the word unconquered perhaps in history I I to quote Indigo Montoya you know from Princess Bride you keep using that word I I don't think it means what you think it means they said unconquered W one too many times and so now they went they were unconquered with one loss which I didn't know was possible now I guess are they unconquered with two consecutive losses troop how does that work man that stinks that stinks they came in with people saying telling them that they had the best defensive line in college football and I was like I was surprised to hear that I said where did that come from you know I mean I know they should have a a good defensive line best what why why would they think it was the best they they lost some good players last year they weren't the best last year and uh they lost some pretty good players and you saw that Georgia Tech who was pretty much a one-dimensional team was able to move the ball and have the way keep the game close and kick a field goal at the very end yeah uh to win that 24-21 and both teams looked their offenses was were very onedimensional again DJ ouie galle I can't say his name IG gele he's the same guy he was that he was when Georgia played them yeah that was dis to see yeah and so he just doesn't have I mean no no he doesn't have it I I'll tell you that the surprising part for me you know of course Florida state had their their first place scripted and they came out went right down the field look like World beaters a couple of things I thought that the celebration from Florida state was a bit over the top like you just you just drove down the field and scored on Georgia Tech you celebr with your teammates and get but this was this was this they might as well have just beaten Georgia the the way they celebrated I was like that might not be a good sign the other surprising thing to me tro Brenson was that Georgia Tech pushed them around they bullied him the tougher team was Georgia Tech the stronger team was Georgia Tech they didn't out scheme Clinton they bent him over their knee and spanked him and you know it by the end of the game there was no doubt who the more physical team was and who the team who wanted it more was and as for DJ like you said it I told you this I sometimes get frustrated when we keep having to rehash a narrative we know is wrong this media gaslighting of players like he's never done anything to show he is in any way Elite aside from some impressive tape his senior year of high school and that's it but yet we kind of rehash it every year and now this guy's older than Stetson Bennett was when he played in college and we're trying to somehow Force this upon him and what what how many passes did he throw over eight yards I all right there the line of scrimmage yeah yeah so and that's as we move on we talk more about Clemson that's kind of the thing that Clemson suffers from or did last year well they started with the same quarterback they did they did and uh we've been watching Clemson tape I watched Clemson in Florida state from last year earlier today and just to get an just to get a feel a current feel of what I thought about this game a little bit more and uh what Club Nick how important he was what their running game looked like and what their defense will be able to do especially up front and as we do preface that countdown to kickoff I do want to say before we yeah get too deep into this thank you folks for tuning in it's been a great week on all our platforms we do appreciate your your uh subscribing and your listens and your views on social media we've had it's been a fun time and just getting to this a season we expect it just to go through the roof uh pull us up on YouTube if you want we've had a great few weeks on YouTube as well you can see all because we're going to have some visuals you want to look at today got Eric from Bulldog report coming on in a few minutes and then Scott Fitzgerald with the inside slant he's got some nuggets he wants to talk about and then we're going to do a Pathway to Victory for Georgia and for Clemson both their Pathways potential Victory and then GNA finish the show up talking about a project that we put out this past week I assume most of you folks have seen it on social media uh we'll talk about that and let you hear it but uh as we look at this Clemson game which we're going to be able to stop talking about it really soon because it's going to be happening oh come on and I look at these players in this team compared to where Georgie is and what they should be able to do and how Georgia would counteract that it's a pretty good matchup yeah for Georgia you would think it's I think for Clemson they're kind of fortunate they're getting the dogs on the first game of the season when they're maybe gonna I don't know I could I go either way I mentioned this to you in the pregame show smooch I feel very confident I'm like Georgia can can really run away with this if they want to they're talented enough and should but then the closer it gets to game I start the nervousness comes in there and well you know if this happens or if this happens I was that way in the national championship game against TCU when blew them out but it's just that you still got to perform and you're still with a new team it's still a new team you got to find those players and execute and that's going to be interesting to see how that happens well I like our ifs you know we do we do have more than we're comfortable with having I will say that like I I like our ifs I just wish we didn't have so many and that's what it is you know I like replacing um our middle I like replacing middle linebacker with with CJ Allen okay I'm good with that but it's still an if because we we haven't seen him jump in and play a season you know I like the idea of Carson picking right up where he went where he left off last year with Florida State and just blowing these guys out of the water however Carson backck also started the season very slowly last year and whether it was the play calling or whether it was Carson or whether it was a combination of the two remember they were calling him Captain check down and we even pulled some um receipts from that first couple of weeks of the season they were like this this Carson backck that is not a franchise quarterback he just throws check downs and that was this huge thing and so when you put those ifs in what if Carson does start slow I mean how hard is it to lose Brock Bowers I would imagine it's pretty hard it's pretty hard when you're losing and so there are ifs there and so if you the idea that we're going to Walt in and roll over these guys that's what we want to happen but I say prepare yourself for moments of greatness and moments of ugliness and moments of nail Bing what do they call it on locked on Bulldogs when you you need your bucket or whatever so the the thing that makes me feel most comfortable is even if you accept if this is true I don't even know yet if you accept these defenses are comparable and they could be Georgia could have a better defense in some areas they could have a better defense in a couple areas I don't know but they should be at least in the same Stratosphere they should be comparable defenses you can accept that but georg's offense should be much better Leaps and Bounds better more explosive everywhere on the field than Clemson ge's quarterback is more explosive has shown to be that and that's not just he's hoping Club Nick's got to have those ifs come through he's got to show it this year he didn't show it last year and Beck did uh georg's running game even without rodri Robinson he's gonna be out a few games he may be out a month or two yeah even without him and even if etn is suspended he may be suspended then you still got I mean you still got Branson Robinson who's looking great practice and you got Nate Fraser who has been the MVP in in Fall practice and cash Jones as well cash Jones I would say I'm I didn't mean to interrupt but yeah if if I was a betting man which we are occasionally we don't really have that we don't really have any inside information quote unquote but I would bet on cash Jones starting this game at running back it might be his first his his first ever you know game one start and I think that might be what we see but we're just guessing Kirby doesn't I guess I bet Kirby has assistant coaches that don't know so so we're not going to yeah well and then it's a difference this year is different Playmakers I mean the same guys but they're in different roles and so Carson Beck who want who could depend on depend on uh rosem Jack Saint and Brock Bowers and L makoni he's gonna be looking towards Dylan Bell and Dominic love it and Oscar Depp a whole lot are and if he's comfortable with those guys and what I read today yeah him and Dylan Bell spending a lot of time together so they really nurtured that that back shoulder fade they throw to him is is insane Dyan makes great catches tough catches and traffic yeah and so and then Aran Smith as well you got The Playmakers but you got to be able to put it together on you know and move the chains uh periodically on third downs but I feel great about Georgia's offense and I obviously much better than Clemson should feel about their offense I agree and then then if you look at the defense uh you know uh it's they've got healed up uh I was a little bit more worried than I should have been looks like Warren brinson's ready to go he's ready he did a commercial today he's fine yeah dokins of course is gonna play defensive end he kind of shakes out L this smooch looks like a defensive end is gonna be TI and then with Gabe Harris I want to see him he's G be backing up T and playing a lot and then of course you got those those tackles uh nir stack house Kristen Miller and then maybe uh JJ Jamal Jarrett they want him to get in there for a few plays because they could use somebody that size that a people mover or that requires a double team yeah and uh then of course you had your other defensive tackle Christin Miller and Warren Brenson and Jordan Thomas those guys coming in and uh of course that outside linebacker you're gonna see a lot of Chaz chamblas and Damon Wilson but Michael Williams is slotted to play outside linebacker he's probably gonna still play some defensive end too uh but you you'll see a lot of Chad Chamas and of course Damon Wilton who has been spectacular in the off season from what I hear yeah I and I think that's that's the idea behind getting Jamal Jared on the field is to free up the you you're not you're talking about a track team that plays linebacker right there and so when you put Jamal Jarett you can't block Jamal it doesn't matter his technique right now you can't block him with one person and so it's going to take two that means there's somebody not on a backer when you do that there's a backer running free and that's the that's the thought behind it on defense and SMS talk about track athletes playing uh and football players too so they're not just you not just right that kind of obviously very very good football players at your M linebacker you got a combination of smile mundon and railen Wilson and then at money linebacker you got a combination of CJ Allen and chalon Walker all four of those guys are elite elite top level type athletes and Playmakers that's one of the things I'm most excited about seeing those guy seeing play and if the defensive line does their their job those fellas are going to be all over the field sideline to sideline looks like the defensive backfield smooch is going to be uh Janelle Aguero at the star and nickel and then I'm it could go either way I think Daniel Harris is that's my prediction is going to get that star at at the uh left cornerback backed up by uh Julian Humphrey and probably Ellis Robinson too and then strong safety is going to be a combination of Dan Jackson dor Thomas and KJ Balton we'll see how that shakes out and then of course free safety is gonna be Malachi Starks no doubt there your right quarterback dalen Everett backed up again by Ellis Robinson and Julian Humphrey so it's kind of like those those guys have it and they'll just have to see the game because practice is one thing you got to get your snaps you earn your snaps through practice but then you earn more playing time when you're are put under the fire Into the Fire and you thrive agree I think the the most exciting thing on that defense that we that we're reading out is Aguero um not since LS seen have we had a guy that plays this way um especially in that star position and so to hear that I mean what we're hearing is that he just took that position that he he that was not handed to him he showed up and just took it away and it's it's his that's all we're hearing we'll see when the game starts but that's exciting it's smooch this is not normally the way most shows would do this in terms of their predictions but we are talking about countdown to kickoff we're going to talk a little bit later on with past the victory for each team but I would like to go ahead and and talk about our predictions real quick before we invite Eric Taylor on with the Bulldog report uh yeah absolutely I see this going a couple different ways but I feel like uh that it's going to be slowo to start off with now George could come out and just go nuts I just don't see it I think it's gonna I think that Clemson's gonna try to slow it down and muddy the game up and it may be close for a while I do see Georgia limiting what Clemson can do in terms of scoring they may move the ball a little bit between the 20s I don't think they're going to score a lot Georgia if Georgia executes especially in the Red Zone I see him winning something like 31 to 13 right in that range and and we were just talking about this yeah I'm at 31 to9 and we wrote those two scores down completely separate of each other we did but I'm at 31 to9 I think you're exactly right I think they're going to move the ball in between the 30s um a little bit as they figure things out as Kirby Works young guys in but when you named off I want you to listen to the guys you named on offense now these are guys that can house a football Dylan Bell Dominic love it Oscar Delp Arian Smith those guys can take it to the house now talk about etn talk about Frasier those guys if with their hand on the ball can go all the way there aren't those on Clemson it's just that simple there are guys like a rosemy jack saint that can make a catch you know you were watching a a game with Tyler Brown today and he's a fine player um but in terms of you me think think about if Luther Burton was that other receiver what we'd be thinking about right now we're like oh this guy could really cause us some headaches they don't have that guy and so that's what I'm I'm eager to hear what Eric has to say about it but I just think they're GNA I mean three scoring drives that's what when I said nine points that's three scoring drives and I really think that that you could see that I think that what Georgia scores on defense and I think that you will see Clemson three scoring drives maybe a missed fi goal or something like that but I I just cannot get out of my head punt return on special teams is going to break one I just it there there's just too many young fast guys and we've just got some guys that can return kicks now so yeah well let's dig down a little more into that and welcome our first guest Eric Taylor from the Bulldog report ER buldog report how you doing buddy all right thanks for having me so good to see you again man it's been way too long are you as excited as we are we're finally at game week game number one let's go it's been a long six months come on preach brother you you haven't slowed down whatsoever man you content uh production you put some great stuff out there all you kind of kept us uh integrated all all year long offseason with getting into the nitty-gritty of some of these statistics we wouldn't have made it without you is what he said so good appreciate that yeah yeah we looked at I looked at something you sent us and you sent several things that we probably talk for an hour on those things but you when we were just talking about a moment ago when me and smooch were doing the countdown to kickoff that uh comparing these two teams and you found a way to narrow it down or be very specific and you call it the of course this very uh self-explanatory Georgia versus Clemson offensive starter comparison we'll throw that graphic up right here yeah okay yeah what I what I did was I decided to compare the two using uh expected points added which what what it does is it grades like every play gets a grade depending on what down what distance whatever it is it gets a point grade okay and so what what what expected points added does is it really kind of you know how PFF grads a player well this is actually more accurate because it shows like the actual points per play that a player will bring to the team okay gotcha very interesting and I'm looking at this and just for you folks listening uh Georgia is on the left side of the graph and uh the chart and the uh clamson players on the right side and green would show you that those players are have an advantage with that sta with that EPA and Georgia is all in the green so their starters look like they should have a slight advantage to it sometimes a bigger advantage against uh when you match those it's production right the production up from last year yes and uh even better than that it's non-garbage time production oh very cool yeah I had it exclude uh the garbage time snap so this is just plays done while the game's competitive looking at this and also just kind of having an idea of these two teams where do you feel like Georgia has the biggest Advantage Eric oh it's absolutely on offense um I did another breakdown that I showed today that shows of the total efficiency the offensive efficiency the defensive efficiency and the Special Teams efficiency and by far the biggest U Advantage Georgia has is if you compare the two offenses to each other well that's uh that's just what we were talking about a moment ago yeah when we were doing a countdown to kickoff is Georgia's offense of course even if you agree that these two defenses are in the same realm and that's a very reasonable thing to say they're comparable defense Georgia should and have a an advantage offensively and these numbers buried out we saw what these teams did offensively last year we know that Clemson was a little bit more challenged and with with less lack of explosive players do you see that uh absolutely you you look at comparing the the the wide receiver core for each team and you've got two true freshman for Clemson that's going to be having to get major snaps not only this weekend but like for the for them so I mean Georgia when it come the other reason I put the classes up when you compare the two the experiences also in georg's favor okay yeah that's the thing is is for Clemson every explosive player on offense Clemson has is a true freshman from from what I can see I don't see game Breakers at any at any anywhere you know mafa is fine he's a good running back but he'd be that running back that would be the perfect compliment to a game breaker cuz he's not it and uh you know they've got they've got a kid coming in they're saying he'll be the game breaker well he's a true freshman and then they've got what the two five-star two festar wide receivers coming in both freshman and we we've seen how that works in the SEC it it does they you do not hit the ground running very often exactly um and the thing a thing about that going back to the running back position is Georgia does get Branson Robinson back now he's not in this because at the time that I made this I wasn't sure uh where he was healthwise but from everything I'm hearing and I'm sure everybody else is hearing is he's gonna be ready to play this weekend yeah and then like you said as a compliment back Nate Frasier is a home run hitter a home run waiting to happen so as a as a compliment back like that's perfect for this weekend right so yeah you're comparing you're looking at this but then you got two running back for Georgia who didn't play last year you know so you got Branson Robinson and Nate Fraser who look like they're going to get almost all the carries along with cash Jones but those two backs should you know should carry the load for Georgia offensively but smooch was even mentioning it that may push Georgia to to use their passing game more maybe use their passing game in a variety of ways because they have some trust in what uh when what Carson Beck can do and some of those Playmakers who come back as wide receivers and tied end absolutely and and don't forget um speaking of wide receivers uh some people don't want to hear this but Dylan can line up at running back also so um I mean the the running back uh thing it shouldn't really be an issue and like y'all said the explosive players Arian Smith you got Anthony Evans uh these guys don't really play a lot but like you said they could they could get a lot of meaningful plays there way this weekend to kind of make up for the lack of depth at at running back I love it so what do you see what do you see as Clemson's greatest strength um on offense on offense well the defense that's too easy but yeah STP him that's what I was oh it's definitely their defense but um or or do you see any place where they I mean it is there's something they can lean on they may have a an advantage where will they turn to offensively what what do you expect cuz this year they may come out a little bit differently than last year we we expect them we expect maybe some growth for some of those players potentially I'm thinking maybe it'll be the running game at first um because I'm thinking um maybe uh they know more what they have in their running game over like they expect Cade to to to take the next step right but expecting someone to take the next step and them doing that is I mean you're also playing the number one team so I think lean on the running game a lot at least to start yeah and they're comfortable with it that's a great Point actually Georgia will be when no what no matter who takes the field at running back they're going to be figuring out what they have in that person whether it's a player returning from injury or a freshman or a you know a senior that's never started before you know somebody like that they're going to be figuring it out so that's that's good mafa he's got experience so yeah but they really would have benefit to have somebody like Shipley was last year with them and they still didn't blow the doors off anybody of course last year four losses and their offense was their weakness so even with Shipley and they're looking to replace him if mafa sometimes when you shine the light it gets too bright and if you put you give them a more a heavier workload they don't respond the way you would want them to maybe he will but even by their own admission he's more of a Bruiser he's not the home run hitter and they need players who can create explosive plays and that's the reason I think that they can't keep up with Georgia they could play their aame and still if both teams play well Georgia is still gonna have a lot more Firepower and a lot more margin for era eror and uh that's that's the advantage but I think it's it could be closer to a watch defensively even though I think Georg is probably more talented but uh offensively these numbers bear out what we anticipate should happen in this game one yeah it looks great yeah I mean when it comes to especially like wi receiver depth like it has to be Georgia that that's favored in that like I I brought up before the two freshman are the people that I heard the most about you know from from Clemson fans we're talking about we got these two five stars I'm like but they're true freshman you look at Georgia and Georgia has multiple upper class wide receivers that they can lean on that have been there not just regular season of experience but they've performed in the playoffs so like I feel like Georgia knows more what they have at wide receiver than Clemson knows what they have at wide receiver going into week one that's the ifs right smooch yeah I mean here's here's the if for you there is no way a kid that went to the prom last year is going to play his first game at wide receiver against the University of Georgia Bulldogs and said the world on fire it's that's just not that's unrealistic out there yeah right yeah exactly that's right you're you're play you're um your surprise player of the year dalen ever out there locking him down take away a couple of those Stars that's what it'll um yeah I anticipate we'll talk about this more in the pathways to Victory later on in the show smooch but I anticipate that Georgia will have a concerted effort to shut down that run game and make it where it's not it's it's probably the easiest thing to do you would suspect in terms of way these teams match up and limit that because there's not going to be a whole lot of worry about that run game gashing them anyway or putting up big points and so they'll be able to yeah uh if they can take that from you teams just don't unless you have a generational type quarterback they just don't beat the George Bulldogs it's in their best interest to do that too uh because I was looking at something yesterday and 2023 was the first time that Georgia's front 7 Havoc rate was below 10% it was the first time since 20 8 it's been that low so like I believe it's think Kirby's best interest to show this front is better than it was last year that's a good point and you you still have a couple of highlevel recruits that are watching to see what you run out there with a front seven um that's a great point I what I was going to say was on the other side of the ball I asked a couple of Clemson fans on the message board you guys are so confident in Cade kumnick taking this huge step this here what would what would you send me to go watch to let me see that and they said oh the Kentucky game and so I went and watched the Kentucky game and you know I just didn't see it I I just what I saw is if I can take if we can take the running backs away and that guy has to win the game that guy can't win the game I mean that's literally what what I saw and smooch I was talking to a Clemson fan and he was saying this is the best defense the dogs are going to see all year long and we know except every single day right right and we know that Carson Beck doesn't isn't the quarterback that you see sometimes when he's got pressure right in his face and I was like who is what quarterback is at his best with pressure right in his face so you just you just named every quarterback who's ever played yeah well Carson Beck has taken a step every year a big step that's the reason we think he'll take a big step Kade kumnick or whatever his name is took no steps last year so I don't know why you think this step's going to be so big that's where I have a lot of trouble with the with the Tigers going into the game yeah great stuff and that's a great chart Great graph that Eric sends us and helps us out man you do such a good job Eric tell us where we can find you on social media where you where's your stuff at all right on on Twitter it's report bulldog and uh on on Facebook it's uh just the Bulldog report and then every now and then I'll put out a Blog uh on uh the Bulldog report.com some of the best information out there and supports what we think what we think our I see and that and sometimes it doesn't but a lot of times uh Eric Eric's information does shed a light on some very interesting Trends in these games Eric can't wait uh to the game Friday or Saturday smoo you got anything I was just gonna say guys he touched on it earlier um I love PFF stuff because it's it's it pulls you in more but it's frustrating it doesn't make sense a lot of times for what your eyes see the stuff Eric puts out is better it just makes more sense the numbers actually correlate to success on the field not what not what someone else's formula for success is very clear very clear I appreciate that I really wish I know the NFL there's pays sites that put out like defensive EPA I really wish college football had that so that we could look at what the individual EPA is for defensive players but that's not really available right now without paying for it okay fantastic so that's the bummer but all right all right Eric from the Bulldog report appreciate you for hopping on buddy and go dogs thank you for having me on go dogs yes sir all right excellent segment as usual from Eric the Bulldog report yeah man love to have him on we appreciate him for hopping on it on short notice I I think he had an idea we're gonna bring him on and week one so thanks again Eric he can always talk Bulldogs though we didn't catch him by surprise so that say oh he's always ready to talk Bulldogs another another friend who's always ready to talk Bulldogs Scott fiter with the inside slant the inside SL yes yes can you feel the excitement Scotty is man it's getting close it is getting close guys so close Scott I mean we got a little taste by watching the Florida state Georgia Tech game and trying to figure out how to root against Florida State and not not for geia georia Tech yeah it was kind of a strange Dynamic there I'm like smooch that Florida State just been whining so much for the last however many months I like literally found myself pull George te that's what I said that's what I said it's not yeah we're not roing for Tech we just wanted to expose the frauds that if they are fraud but we felt like yeah that there were some that Florida state was not what they were trying to tell everybody they were and they had conquered cue the UN graphic right two losses in a row it also go show you the right we need we need tech to be competitive again though because like it's almost like you're pulling for them because you forget how bad it is when you lose to them once every thousand years yeah because it's been what Kirby's first year and if Jacob e converts a fourth and five over the middle on it easy little pass we win that game but he doesn't then they start tearing up Hedges and anyway but it's been so far just been so long since that happened and we run through so many of their teams like you just kind of forget a little bit and you know it's kind of like Florida I tried to pull for Florida one year that year they played Ohio State and uh anyway I I was about five minutes in I was done I couldn't pull for Florida so when when Florida plays Tennessee I just get sick I don't know what to do so yeah I just want them to both just just destroy each other and look terrible and all that stuff yeah I did I was actually hoping that boy would make that field goal I mean Smashmouth football I mean they they they did took they took it to far of State yeah the finesse finesse State against hard noos there were no trick plays there was nothing else coming right both teams really kind of onedimensional so DJ man DJ just he is what he is isn't he I've been thinking about a couple things that that are really intriguing to me about Saturday and just about the season in general um I think I mentioned last time we were talking about just you we've got a lot of really good key pieces back but there's a lot of also newness to this team so I'm super excited about that um but I tell you who I'm really intrigued to see if he's like legitimately going to take the next step and be be the guy that could possibly wreak havoc and if he is he'll be a very high draft pick um and he's a type of player we haven't had in a while and I don't know if you'all got any guesses of who this would be but it would be kind of cool to see all the publicity he's getting to come come to fruition to have just an Havoc you know just have a guy on defense that just WS Havoc you know play in and play out especially on passing downs but Michel I'm talking about Michel you know he's he's kind of paid his dues I think they probably moved him around to see what his best fit is and I'm just really intrigued to see if he can get after the passer because we if we can get after the passer um I think it's going to mask some of our uh thinness right now on the defensive line that I don't think it'll be thin down the road if we get get everybody back and I think our linebackers will be at a shine and I'm not worried about our secondary I maybe I should be but I just I'm not with Malachi back there and no the veteran Dan Jackson and we got some you know really good young Talent back I you got Lasser and then you know Julian and we got a couple of freshman that are really good but I I'm just really really intrigued to see if Mikel is going to take that next step because he's got he's got the ability but is he really going to be a guy that can take over a football game and I don't think we've had had one since um a oari oari a oari he he could take over football game yeah he could take over a football game and I don't think we've had a guy like that since then no and I think he's this this sounds crazy because he's nowhere near the player right now he's more talented than Oz's he just you've just got got to put it all together in an injury-free season and sky's the limit I mean I think he's the most talented player in all of college football uh now that doesn't mean anything that might not even mean he gets drafted I I I'm just saying yeah I think he's the most talented player in college football I think if he puts it together there's no reason to think he won't but he is the type of player that when he's on the field you have you're in your the other six of your front seven are 8% better just because he's out there because of what he can draw to his side it's it's we you know jayen Carter It's Kind back when we had when we had David poot you know on the edge I know it was a long time ago but it's like when when another when another team when another offensive coordinator has to say guys no matter what we do we got to find out where that guy is whenever play that it makes it it makes it it's a nightmare for OC to have a guy like that on the field it really is because you're worried about double teaming him you're worried about stuff you can run to his side can't run to his side I mean you I mean it just it it makes you think um so it'd be a big deal if he could really wreak havoc on you know Club Nick and and uh and do his thing and maybe maybe he just needed to be put in a spot that where he could shine I mean that that's that's a thing you know sometime it takes a little while well they had him in kind of they had him in like a Trayvon role and now they're doing something different know with so will he take more snaps at end or or outside linebacker or will it will it not be will it just be a watch or they or were they moveing him around and stand him up like the really really versatile players can do I mean he's not built like Trayvon right so I mean he he's not I mean he's just not so you know the really really versatile guys who's the guy that we had a few years ago that we literally could put back at Star it wasn't Adam Anderson was it no no he's playing for the Falcons now um long Floyd yeah I mean guys like that where literally you can line them up in the middle on the outside they could play linebacker I mean that that's a nightmare for OC so he's to me is more that kind of player so so to be interesting to see you know kind of what they do with him and the other thing that intrigues me is I was thinking about this today you know what does it take I mean it takes a lot of things to win a national title right we've got we've got I would say have to say the most depth most quality depth in all of college football I know Ohio State spent 20 million on the roster and they are loaded um but a lot of that's new talent I don't know how deep they are in certain spots but I know we're deep and battle tested and the way we practice our second and thirds get more reps than you know anybody else in the country so that they are ready and they're not as green when they do have to go in um and not even that it's like when games get maybe not as a super blowout but it's kind a quasa blowout you know a lot of coaches still won't put in those backups because they're still a little anxious yeah but we we don't mind throwing those guys in because they're ready so I think that and number 15 that is Carson's number right yeah yes as of right now he he is going to lead us to get another one of these baby oh look at that come on there it is Flash in the ring SC that's the one that's the one from uh that's the one from La so it's a big one wow that was just funny I had to put that on for that but car Carson Beck to me is the best quarterback in college football and if you look at you know the last few years you cannot win without a guy playing Elite at a quarterbacking phys right and he has got all the tools he's very cerebral I think more so than people realize I think having him there now he's he's just ready to take that step um I think that if if that's same Alabama game happens in the Mercedes ben you know that happened this last you know yeah December even with Bowers and and makoni down I think now he'd find a way to win that game I agree um I really do so I think that's a huge deal so biggest things for me maau Williams and then I think Carson backck does that mean he's gonna be perfect you know probably not but I think he's he's better than anybody else out there um yeah go ahead tro I said looking at this game this weekend that's where we kind of fall as well if you if you say these defenses are comparable and they're in the same it's reasonable to say that uh you would have to say offensively kumnick hasn't thus far proven to be anywhere near the quarterback Carson Beck has already shown even though both of these guys in their second year starting Club Nick hasn't shown the ability to be explosive and uh Beck Beck looks like an NFL quarterback now things can change but I think Georgia should feel much more comfortable Georgia fans should feel more comfortable that they have the more explosive players in a quarterback like Beck who knows how to get his Playmakers the ball down field yeah down field because they have just that looking at georg's running backs they're gonna be to get those guys uh the ball in space that can do some special things yeah yeah I I think I think with with the offense so I think the offensive line should our offensive line as good as it is should be able to neut ize their defensive front and I think that's probably where they're most talented they got good linebackers too but I just think the depth and the way we play you know a smooch cause it like we take people out and drown them yeah they don't even know they they don't even know that they're G to drown later but um just the type of ball we play I think we we'll if we don't turn it over we'll wear them down and I think it will you know really really favor us I I think our defense is going to get after them and I really think Georgia is going to roll in this game I think first quarter might be maybe a little messy um yeah it's GNA Clemson and davo is a smart coach if if I wouldn't my guess would be that he's gonna try to find a way to make this game kind of ugly he has he has to yeah otherwise it could get it could get ugly for Clemson they're gonna fight and give everything they got but I just I I think we got a lot of pin up I mean think about last year and I know it's last year and Kirby says he doesn't use you know just about I know what I mean come on man he may not do it he may not say it publicly but it's wired within him and the fact that we didn't lose a regular season game in two years and that we lose to Bama you know in the last couple of minutes with a bunch of people banged up on a couple of controversial calls that everybody seems to forget about which I'm glad I'm glad we don't cry about that kind of stuff yeah yeah but but the fact of the matter is you know we we didn't even have the ability to make an argument that we should have been in the playoffs right and let's let's not forget that one year before that Sabin was arguing to get in the playoff with two losses one year before I mean yeah the media was having none of it because we you know we they didn't want any part of the the trifecta yeah um so I just think we're we're going to help we're going to be hell bent and Clemson is just going to be the one that's going to pay the price for it on Saturday you got a you got a score prediction there Scott thought about that at all I'd say 3410 oh my gosh he right in line with us so I I am oh really yeah I'm 319 and Troop is 3113 and those were all all three of those were without any that's crazy yeah I got I got one more question this is just for me because I've been a huge fan of this kid I saw this kid play in high school and I'm just enamored what are you hearing about Janelle Aguero um sounds like he might be starting at the star position um um I know we can lay the lumber what about pass coverage yeah he's a monster I don't I don't know we're gonna find out Saturday I think that you uh he's that kind of guy that you got to get him on the field and see what he can do because he's um man he's got we got him and you know Mima we got a lot of young guys that a couple years ago you know they were highly recruited that have been just kind of waiting their turn so yeah that's what I meant about the newness of some of the guys that were so highly heralded the last couple of years and that you are kind of going to try to find their way on the field I want to see I want to see Gabe Harrison Gabe Harrison DAV Wilson out there D Wilson man DAV you think about you think about the depth like you mentioned at linebacker where you could have these four guys to pick from any two you got railen Wilson smile mundon CJ Allen and and J jalon Walker jayen Walker those all four Elite athletes and people wonder why Marvin Jones transferred by the way what he have like one hurry and a tackle or something it was a cute it was a cute effort against T yes it was hey um yeah and think think about and that's why these other guys jaman Jus Johnson great he's NFL player I mean had transferred the guy went to B I mean guys coming in it's like we're not gonna see the field anymore I mean think about and think about the Reps that CJ Allen and I know one of them probably cost us you know it was he made a big mistake in that Bame that hurt us um you know the other back or not yeah ra but you think about the Reps he'll probably never make that mistake again in his life right the Reps they got as freshman and then throw in like you said mundan and these other guys I mean Walker just loaded for bear that's why if we can just up front hold our own I mean we don't even have to wreak a ton of havoc and you throw in Mel Williams if he's able to wreak havoc man our defense could be really fun to watch well even even Dawkins is a player at defensive and if he's healthy is a very good player that that nobody really oh yeah has noticed T he was he was a f star TI yeah very very good players and health is gonna play a big part in it but again that's why when you get to these games that matter and health is always gonna gonna matter and georg's got another player who's ready to play because that's what Kirby Smart that's his philosophy he's gonna get these players in get them snaps and get them acclimated in integrated in what they do right the thing about so another thing that'll be interesting to see is if if you know we know rodri's out and you know I don't know ET is going to play or not let's just say he doesn't so that leades you with Branson and that leaves you with Nate Frasier cash Jones so you know that challenges Bobo to not rely on as much as drop back matx protect having to pick up backers coming with with with running backs that maybe aren't quite as experienced in doing that I mean Branson's been out razer's you know freshman cash you know he's not stat yeah yeah so so it'll be interesting to see you know so that's a little bit of a challenge for both but you know he'll be up to it he'll run we'll run jet screens we dominate we'll run we'll throw we'll show that with I candy maybe run some stuff to the other side I think we'll keep them all balanced enough that we won't have to have a a bunch of that then you get your play action working if we can run the football a little bit um it won't really matter about that but that is an interesting something that he's got to consider uh have experience back back there we were talking about that before the game may be a little more explosive than than ball control because of that you know that it will alter the game some and you know when you're talking about Dylan Bell and Dominic they can break it you know they can they can break so so it might not be as uh high percentage is say you know a Gap a gap run but it might be what they're looking at you know and you know what happens when a freshman fumbles the ball you know you get three first downs and you give it to your freshman and he drops it you know what what do we do to adjust that type of thing yeah I'm so excited to see Branson um I just man he's just got so much potential I just hope if if he can stay healthy I think he's GNA have a he's G I think I read somewhere the other day where remember when chub had the AC and he came back and just ran all over North Carolina remember I do remember even though he wasn't even though he wasn't quite 100% back he was he was enough to run over North Carolina he wanted to he wanted to show yeah he wanted to show he could he could carry a heavy load in that game I remember and he did it took a while for him to get this explosiveness back but you're right there and so you wonder would Branson you know cuz they would if they had their the Preference they would not have him carrying a heavy load this Saturday so that's gonna be Nate rer is gonna get a lot of opportunity or you're gonna see uh Beck hook up with Dylan Bell unusual amount of times and in the passing game maybe intermediate but also in his short passing game which is kind of like a like a run game Run that's what I see same thing would love it I mean we we there's so many good screens we run with him and they're like run plays I mean I mean it's a running game running game just on the perimeter I mean that's all that's the thing that we argued about we argued with some Colorado fans earlier in the year smooch and they were talking about well Beck he he does throw the ball downfield which we show that he did he was effective in that 10 to 20 range very effective yeah but they were almost trying to criticize back because we use that extended run game we were getting our Playmakers to ball like makon like love it like poers in space and Colorado wouldn't know about Colorado would know about one of these wouldn't you play to win the game who cares Kirby don't care about statistics he play to win the game hey one of one of those swing passes goes for 80 that's 80 yard touchdown pass yeah yeah there's no there's no criticizing that but if you look at if you're just one of those slaves to some of the statistics without watching the game you'll look at that and say they are they are really they are really good on NCAA football troop you're wrong I'm sorry you're wrong and I don't I hate to mean this sound like a slight because I don't really have any dog in the hunt with Colorado but I I can't I don't take them seriously when people talk about them no I need you un abouted attention real quick am I supposed to you know it's like where do you remember that game do you remember that that story you read when you were in the fifth grade called The Emperor's clothes they said only smart and enlightened people can see these clothes and so the emperor standing there naked going down the street and everybody's going his clothes are so beautiful because everybody wants to be a football cogniz they want to be part of the elite so we've got to act like this is not an absolute clown show going on out there in Colorado it's it's a clown show I mean ban the reporter because he didn't want to get criticized listen here here it is K's got chip Towers in the room with him the story with Colorado is akin to the story with USC's defense it's it's it's not real no reality it isach hey I will have to give it to Dion though I read that story about they they s out the uh one of their staff members sld out the salty uh the salty fund that's back in Liv to get some nil money I'm like hey smart that's pretty smart hey if you're gonna go for it Go For It Go for the go for it right yeah swing for the fence I guess yeah Scott has got is picking the dogs to win little hot take and uh we all obviously got the high hopes for this season oh so ready the Kirby Smart era is is not slowing down you can hear some there are some people who will say silly things like that I don't know why they would George just lost one game in a regular SE not in regular season they lost one game in the last 30 they've lost two games in the last president let's just say it that way yeah we can't wait and all the Talking season is coming to a close we'll tune in Thursday night and watch Colorado and in North Dakota State that's a losable game for them by the way a losable game those guys play yep yep we can't wait Scott thank you so much for jumping on you got it buddy buddy all right let me get him out here go go do inside slant [Laughter] all rightt with the inside slant it's just good talking football with him such a good good football Georgia fan and uh me and Scott have been going to football games for a long time in fact I went to my very first Georgia game with Scott back in the back in the ire days so those were good days troop and there but there's a path to victory for both teams I feel like as Georgia fans we feel like we know what our path to Victory is just don't turn the ball over yeah and be aggressive and if you do that if Georgia does those two things they're they're gonna have a good chance to win every game against every team they play yes if if Georgia doesn't turn the ball over Saturday they do not lose the game it is that simple it was it's going to take turnovers for Georgia to get itself somewhere it doesn't want to be yeah and Georgia can win the win the game explosively they can put up 40 plus points which they've average doing but Clemson's got a good defense and a good coaching staff but they don't have to Georgia can win the game 20 to 20 to6 or something like that or or because georg's defense is every bit as good as Clemson is probably better we we think it's better but Clemson has a much narrower path of Victory it feels smooth just feels like Scott touched on it they're gonna need to muddy it up and keep it a lows scoring game they don't want it going back and forth they want to limit the possessions that Georgia has now if they can do that that's great I don't know if they can do it clck is going to have to convert some third downs and they're going to have to stay ahead of the chains if they get third down and 11 third down and nine uh problems big problems because Georgia will make you pay for that they're going to have to stay ahead of that and move to change and control the clock I feel like to win like a game like a 2421 type game this is their path to meet a victory yeah I I I think you're right I think they have to make it ugly but here's the problem with making it ugly if you make it ugly you're going to want to get down and slog with the dogs we saw in the Kentucky game last year against the dogs and we saw in the Old Miss game when people were picking Old Miss to come in to to um to upset the dogs we saw it in both places when they tried to elevate their intensity to Georgia's level they got very sloppy from a penalty perspective yes they started just stupid penalties they had personal foul after personal foul pass interference because what they were trying to do is match Georgia's intensity and the only way they knew to do that was to play stupid Shenanigans always follow the emotions that's right shenan I love that's beautiful troop Shenanigans always follow the emotions and so you have to make it ugly and a schlog but you have to keep your head about you Clemson you have to stay in your game you have to understand George is going to break a they're going to break one here they're going to break one there you've got to stay disciplined you got to stick to your game plan and be willing to win 13 to 12 or 17 to9 whatever it is that's the that's the Clemson path to Victory is clean and dirty but without time stupid mistakes yep Y and they they need Georgia to lose that turnover battle by I would say two and if one of them one of them turns into points a pick six or something like that all the better I think they're gonna need that because Georgia just more explosive and Georgia has explosive running backs as well and Georgia's solid if not spectacular Elite everywhere on the the field so you're not going to have a big Advantage so you're going to have to play that it's going to be a game with a small margin of error you're G to have to play your best football in the first game of the season without the feeling like you can just you know have a a three-play scoring Drive you're gonna have to play your type of football and I just that's I don't Kirby Smart just doesn't lose to quarterbacks who aren't who aren't uh multi-dimensional they don't have some spectacular Dynamic about them it just doesn't happen even last year against milro milro at least has that threat yeah you know with the legs the big afraid of those legs and what he can do off platform or off you know when when he has to run the ball and create extra time because George is getting after you and then he can make those down the field passes to he can be explosive in the air and there's not many quarterbacks who can do it but if you can do it you might have a better chance to beat Georgia and historically over the past few years that's the only way to beat the dogs yeah well you can't you can't Clemson doesn't have the players to rely on one player to win the game yeah if that makes any sense you know if you're playing Clemson with Trevor Lawrence Trevor Lawrence can win that game right that's the type of player he was Clemson does not have the players to rely on one player to win the game and when you think about it this way I want you to think about the Georgia defense that that Cade and those young receivers are going up against the I don't even want to say weakest but the less dominant player on that entire defense is Dan Jackson who started and won the nationville championship for the Georgia Bulldogs against the Alabama Crimson TI that is probably the I don't even want to say weakest link that's probably the least long-term NFL prospect that the dogs have on their defense Saturday I knew that when we did this show it were going to be a lot of things that we uh just continue to beat on and say because this is cuz the countdown to kick off and our the Victory and what we feel like both teams weaknesses are they're very similar yeah but uh Georgia feels good Clemson feels good but Georgia is Georgia for a reason and Clemson finished six in ACC last year for a reason I do I do expect Club Nick to be better I do I do expect them to script their first possession and possibly to score whether it be a touchdown or a field goal may come down to a third down play but Georgia should play with their hair on fire defensively I expect that because a team like Clemson doesn't present the same risk in terms of uh beating you over the top or big explosive plays and I don't think Kirby's the type coach any longer maybe he was at one point who is that risk averse where he's like well they can't only way they can beat us is if they hit a 70 yard or they can't beat us if we make them earn their way I think that Georgia's good enough to be able to take any risk they want but to have the the quality of player that they'll cover it up if somebody does make a mistake I think I think you're exactly right I think that's that's the exact way the game will go I think you'll see you'll see the dogs come out I think they'll be on defense especially tro I think about this think about Michael Williams in the spring game we were there right we were there when he rushed got a bull rush on the lineman the lineman got just enough of him to keep him off the quarterback so he stops plants his feet jumps up bats down a Carson back pass and intercepts it that's the type of play I don't think Clemson there's nothing you can do about that type of play that's just a supreme athletic type of play that's what I look to see out of this front seven from the dogs the type of athleticism where the quarterback may not have even done anything wrong and you still turn the ball over that's that's what I look to see from Georgia we can't wait we can't wait to see it me and SMH are gonna be together for this ball game and uh in in his in his palacial estate in Huntsville Alabama we're going to cook some ribs and enjoy the game together with our with our families yeah and we may have some special things for you guys to check in behind the scenes of course absolutely give you give you a little look into that headed towards Clemson in Georgia but we want to show you something and I think all of our fans at this point smooch have already seen the project we've been working on tell us about it yeah so um you and I began talking a little over a year ago i' had always had this this want this fantasy even to do a an electric guitar Le version of Glory Glory you know and um I wanted to set it that way I didn't know what I wanted it to look like exactly but I wanted it to be the type of thing that grows in intensity it starts out soft gets a little bigger and then just over the top at the end and so a few months ago I began working on the music the music you guys are hearing on that video and didn't really know what I wanted to do had a few things in my mind I then sent Tru grou a very rough storyboard which by the way we did not follow at all but it was just to get our minds wrapped around something sometimes you have to show somebody something they don't like so they know what they like you know you just have to show it say look at it if you can tell me what's wrong you're telling me something good about what we need to do and so anyway so troop then began laying out the narration in other words the theme the overarching theme of the video everybody does we're the greatest this is great remember when key Ringo inter at that ball you know that's in everybody's video right but anyway uh troop wrote the narration at that point once we once we settled on that I think you probably went through about five or six iterations of it but the music took a few months and U just playing with it how long how short and then the narration went through what four or five iterations and that told us what we wanted the video to do and so we would literally sit around and think what is a video that reminds me of this point and we'd go find it and put it in and all I can say guys is it is what it is like to be a dogs fan for us I just wanted something that captured it you know being a dogs fan is it's just different than anything else you know we're not an entitled fan base we're a passionate fan base we're not an obnoxious fan base we're a loud fan base and the thing is we've got the best mascot in all of football and we know it we know everybody wishes they could have a Georgia Bulldog on their team rather than a a rebel or a tiger or whatever kind of mess that is we know that all of that is Superior in every way and we bark at people and we know you wish you could bark at people rather than yell hotti tiddy right we we know all that and that is the passion that fuels us just knowing we were fortunate enough to be born into this to be born into being a Georgia fan and it's like being fortunate enough it's like being born and winning the lottery the next day that's what it's like to be born and be a Georgia Bulldogs fan and I wanted this video to reflect that we know how fortunate we are take away the national championships we still have the best team in all of college football you add it and it it's just the beginning of a monster no one else in this world is ready to fight we were just trying to capture that that excitement and passion and even some of the frustration and heartbreak and then with the final relief and celebration at the end that is about being a Georgia Bulldog fan you only understand that video if you're a fan yep yep so good and it was a lot of fun and uh it's good to capitalize on you know we whatever talents we have what do we do well we try to capitalize on that in terms of what we can provide for you fans and what we can do that we can look back on and enjoy it as well I think that's we're proud of it we we so far you guys are enjoying it too so we appreciate that yeah thank you for sharing we had no idea I think it was over 20 something thousand last time I saw guys we never knew that 48 Hours yeah we never knew that would be an option for something for us we never knew it and uh just the fact that you know quadruple digits of people are listening to our shows now that's more than we ever thought I mean that's that's we had no idea so thank you so much yeah yep yep but a big picture Georgia will finally kick off the 2024 season Saturday folks uh enjoy it and like I said in the uh narration on that project uh Revel in it embrace it Revel in it and yeah just uh smell the roses man these are the Glory Days to be a Georgia Bulldog they want to always be that way uh but right now we are loaded for bear we got the best coaching staff in America and best fans in America you're right about that and you just can't wait to kick off a new season and this right here finally here and uh a new playoff format as well so it throws in a whole new thing more teams involved we can't wait terrific schedule for Georgia will be here every week and we anticipate doing a yeah we're going to definitely do some pregame stuff this Saturday and you'll see some some behind the scenes things before the game and then we're going to do a rapid reaction after the game before the full show next week thank you
