Intro hi hello nice to see you it's been a while yeah we are both looking great I think yes we're we're looking all right I mean it's for others to say but as long as we think we're looking all right that's okay and uh you're looking great American Villain let me say that can you play a great one on that movie thank you of a really really bad guys how much fun is it for me it's always fun it's always fun um yeah and and it's fun playing an American villain I I sort of uh I don't know how much that kind of uh translates when when things are dubbed into German but it's certainly in in um uh for the last five years or so I've seem to have played more and more Americans which I'm happy doing there's something in the in the nature of the American sound that lends itself to screen acting I don't know I don't know what it is but um I think we're sort of quite we're quite proper and staccato is English we sort of were obsessed by our words and how we say them and the Americans just have a kind of a laid-back film energy which kind of uh is good so I always enjoy playing baddies and I think many of the shots are also done in Cologne we did we were split between cologne and uh and Iceland I think maybe we even spent more time in Germany I'm not sure but yeah no a substantial amount was was shot to you yeah but did you have some great German Food memories maybe you taste some good German food always tastes like you lost germ food they're excellent um you have quite a meaty diet I'd say Germans quite like their meat I'm uh and I'm not such a big meter I enjoy fish and I enjoy veg vegetables but I um no I've always I've been I've sort of filmed here I think if I counted it up I think I've shot in Germany about eight times over the years in different different periods I did a um a series called Jack Taylor which was about a a private eye that I think was quite quite did quite well in in uh in Germany and was part funded in Germany and weirdly the writer and one of the producers of this um was behind the Jack Taylor series as well so that and I did a film called poop Joan here with zonkevoortman which was a great treat and um yeah a couple of other things so I've always enjoyed working here you know it all Blends in that's a cruel that's a tough question to ask it feels such a long time ago Funny Moments some funny moves um oh goodness um you know I'm too I'm too serious an accident I have funny moments no I kind of um know um I'm not very good my my friend I'm sorry I'm I'm crapper anecdote so I could nothing is springing to mind you'll forgive me okay but remember maybe some kind of job because maybe you learned a little bit learned what German Jesus that's going to be three in a row you've knocked me down three times nine nine no German I don't speak German geez what a disaster this this interview yeah foreign I like the photo of this first time I've seen that so wutan is he a star here yes yes I mean he was a silent but violent in this particular film I think we we enjoyed um being a cruel partnership um but he's good fun with that he's actually you know about memories of of because he's quite he's quite mad I mean he's quite a Nutty personality but very very good fun so we did have the odd meal with him and uh yeah it was a it was a laugh what was your favorite Favorite Moment moment um I think probably um just being on the glacier it's kind of Where The Heart of the film uh is really and we we shot we were we were blessed with this wonderful weather in a way which which was good for the story because it was about this melting Glacier that would revealed the car this this carcass of a plane and uh so we were on there and uh the scenery is just breathtaking and um the schemobiles which they were seemed to be pretty blase about me getting on and flying around and so I was in between shots I was sort of having a play on those and disappearing into you know uh the far uh Sunset and then coming back and that was good fun um but yeah no we were a very we were a very tight uh um bunch of actors we we all got in very well and Oscar's a lovely director very good he's that kind of combination of being really good with the camera where the camera should go but also being really good on the storyline so yeah but the book was the best uh sort of research for it it's really good you don't know the novel do you no no it's um it's a really good book it's a kind of classic adventure Thriller and it's uh and the film is very much in the same sort of tone as the book Memories I have so many memories it was a decade of my life I mean it was like it was forever I mean the strange trajectory of that uh TV series that none of us saw coming we were just kind of it just went stratospheric and we still have a little WhatsApp group where we all everyone was wishing happy birthday uh I think it was Sophie's birthday yesterday um so yeah just so many memories I mean that that was one we we were we shot in Iceland I think four or five times we were in Morocco Spain Croatia Malta Ireland a lot Scotland so yeah a wash with uh very happy times Sworn to Silence thank you just less in the shows in just five episodes but I would hope that you get more screen time well we'll just have to see I'm I'm Sworn to Silence I'm I'm unable to say anything but that was nice that was a year that was weird as I said about playing Americans so that was my kind of uh that was one of my earlier um things playing playing America and that which was fun um Brent and threw it myself became very very good friends he's a guitarist he's a singer and um I play the guitar I sing and he's also a tennis player we played some tennis um so and it was in Toronto that was the only time I had to self-isolate for two weeks in Toronto with a threat of the uh Canadian government putting me in jail I think for five years or charging me like 50 million somethings if I was you know walked out down the corridor from my the room that I was supposed to be staying in so that was a bit weird I found that a bit of a challenge that was kind of uh strange but oddly after the first two or three days I kind of got used to it and then you started getting nervous about going out into the outside world because you're sort of used to the isolation but yeah yeah so anyway I'm drifting how did you spend Personal Life your time I I am a committed father and husband and so I uh I've got lots of children uh well not lots I've got three I look after them um and uh yeah I I'm quite into I'm quite fit you know I like my like my um I like my tennis I cycle everywhere um yeah and I play the guitar a lot and uh and sing and read and yeah that's about it Conclusion [Music] I do no no that's how I wanted to make four no's okay yeah you know what I I haven't but because I I wasn't able to go to Iceland and then there wasn't time for me to watch it today but I could go and see the um the version tonight okay but you've seen it you liked it I've seen it um gray and um I like the kind of story because um it has um a good um kind of view what would be when yes yes this is very interesting great great because I didn't know it's another so I'm asking myself I know exactly no I think that's what it tickles up is that is that it could this have happened and maybe it did happen and there's you know that's nice those sort of films so I'm glad I'm glad you liked it you think about that you do and what's with Sim where's yeah and then oh yeah yeah I think there's a there's a sequel in the air so yeah but I am very dead say it's the same but maybe you can wise up again like maybe I can yeah it's like yes yeah maybe we don't see that you're exactly that you're at your job oh wow it's just some kind of Survive by some way maybe yeah it might be let's see Could Happen could it happen yeah I would appreciate that yeah thank you thank you so thank you very much my pleasure yes I'm sorry about the singing and we'll enjoy the future I'll look for
