College Football 25: Georgia Tech Vs Georgia State

welcome to Atlanta Georgia side of the 1996 Olympic Games Center Park Stadium and home to the Georgia State Panthers and we have been feeling the excitement for this one all week today's match up a Peach State Showdown where battle lines have been drawn from Savannah to Atlanta as we'll see a squad from the ACC the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets taking on from the Sun Belt the Georgia State panther glad to have you with us for EA Sports college football I'm Rees Davis David po Jesse Palmer with me in the booth guys we are ready to tee it up and the yellow jackets will kick it away to start a off on the move from inside is five not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 so the Georgia State Panthers offense will start this game off and here comes the quarterback and one thing you know for sure with this team as he goes so goes the offense and he's a big time Talent re this guy can hurt you in a multitude of ways throwing and running the football he's going to have to be dialed in though because this defense is going to give him a lot of different looks it's really important mentally this QB is on his game you want to talk about making it easy for an offensive coordinator you pick up a bunch of yards on first down make that second down really really manageable that's a great job by the offense what a Nifty run there to pick up the first down you ain't getting by all these guys right up the middle unless your offensive line and your tight ends and everybody is putting in the work up front committing to blocking the running back does a great job finding the hole exploding through how about that nice big huge game if I'm the OC let's call that one again grabbed in the middle it's h offense on the mo ay big play there gets it to the 30 nice play design on that one you make it easy for your quarterback too because it's easy to see what's happening right in front of you over the middle of the field you can see where Defenders are dropping you can see where the soft spots are in zone coverage and just a really nice job by the QB locating his guide making an ACC and he was hit just as he released it and it falls to the turf couldn't make the play last time now it's second and 10 from the 30 to the air it's Gibson unloads to the wide out how about getting the foot down on that throw for the big completion Georgia State ready to go with another first and 10 now from inside the Red Zone can't find his man as he took a shot trying to deliver that football and it'll be second down going to work in the Red Zone they can't pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone fires to the wide out touchdown Georgia state and they'll put that scoreboard operator to work and put six on the board you want to talk about a great way to start the game and set the tone early it's so nice to have a quarterback just get himself into the game get himself established you make a couple throws you lead your offense down the field you score right up the bat could not have been a better start for that QB about to kick it away after scoring the touchdown and he'll just take a KN and this drive will start at the 25 so the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets offense will try to get something going with their first possession as we take a look at our impact players for this game David what do you look for to make an impact from your leaders your leaders not only have to lead the football team but they got to step up and make plays on the you keep everybody calm these guys typically do a really good job of yeah David and they also generally set the tone for their respective football teams regardless of which side of the ball they play on the teammates look towards them to step up in big games like this he's got enough for the first down they'll spot it at the 37 I love when players understand situations and they understand where the first down marker is and they understand where I got to get to a lot of people you'll pass on the way is picked off takes it the other way and he's going to take it all the way back touchdown Georgia State what a play by this defense with the pick six and how about the defend exactly what you supposed to breaks on the football makes the interception everybody on defense we turn to offense go lay some blocks so my guy can get it and take it back to the house and the extra point pushes the lead to 14 they're lining up to kick it off after the pick six and that defense will come out feeling it and he's coming out of the end zone he's brought down at the 16 would have been much better off to take the touch back George Tech has the ball back and here comes the Yellow Jacket offense to say this has been a slow start is a bit of an understatement and they really need to get it going here Jesse that's right the opponent they're firing on all cylinders right out of the gate offensively for this unit they've been slow and struggling they need an explosive play to wake themselves up yeah and it's just the first quarter so it's not the end of the world you've seen slow starts but you got to continue to pick and pick and pick until you find that play or or that scheme that you can use against this defense on third down going up top he tosses one high and deep down the left side made that play and was hoping to make another one on the return but they'll take it in business at the 41 the offense set for a first down play they're going to open this drive with a pass going for the big play and it falls incomplete Defender right there almost haded in his grab L getting set on second down back to pass it's Gibson this one's complete and the catch was one thing and the Run even better a big pick up on that one the offense down to the 22 on First and [Applause] 10 looking to move it through the air excellent coverage and good use of the hands to knock it away here comes the offense on second down 25 back to the air one more time got it in the middle it's Thompson and he's brought down after a nice game great job about the offense listen defense is going to sit back in zone you know what you got to do run those crossers across the formation those guys that are looking at the quarterback they're not trying to pick up receiver and he Wales in for the score touchdown Panther One Step rep twep squeeze see you hit hit what you see bring your feet yeah none of that happened yeah those are all great things to keep in mind but you're also trying to tackle another grown man against his will and get him on the ground and by the way he went the kick is up and good and put one more on the lead a very efficient five play scoring drive and it was punctuated by an 11y Run for the scoore and it'll be the Touchback the ball will come out the rambling wreck offense rolls back onto the field after throwing the pick on the last drive need to take care of the ball this time Jesse we're going to find out a lot about this quarterback right here too how does he fight through adversity after that last Drive yeah clear the mechanism move on that's a part of it right you're going to be a great player you got to learn how to handle these mistakes and move on give to the back he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple to how about that defense in the back field nowhere to go right away you could tell they were playing the Run game all the way and they got in the back field and got the tackle for a l he's got it still on his feet at the 45 bound a bunch of room and got it to the 44 yard line the yellow jackets will hustle to the line love to see the fearlessness of a quarterback to work the middle of the field and he's got so much confidence in his own arm talent to be able to get that football there before the defense can break it up and just wedges it ahead a bit before he's brought down picked up two yard on that last one they need eight on second down looking to throw it's King just a short pass to the tight end he's really close to that first down marker but they stop him just a bit short this offense looking at a third down after that last completion movement here from the tight end quarterback on the keeper open space at the 25 and is slipped out defense coming up with a huge fumble recovery in this offense they like their quarterback running these QB designed runs like you saw right there but the defense they're going to light up every time they see him Tote The Rock they know they've got an opportunity to lay a hit on him create a takeaway like they did right there throws to the wide out it's caught and the explosiveness the big gerain gets it to the 49 yd line it's a beautiful pass and catch I love the job the quarterback does manipulating the defense with his eyes he Froze that safety and that allowed his receiver more room to work his right runs through a tackle coaches always harp about staying ahead of the chains and when you can run with that type of efficiency on first down man you are doing just that here's the handoff really nice stop there from this senior leader here on third down [Applause] third they'll try to bully their way for the first they make the Stop and that'll bring the first quarter to a close as the end of the quarter Georgia state has the lead here really strong performance so far to be able to build a lead here in the first period as we look at stats this could be a pivotal moment in this game as we open the second period and they try to find a way to answer and the Panthers have this offense rolling been showing them the run now they'll throw it and it's an incomplete pass on the Deep shot but the flag is down let's check the B and the defender just way too handsy on that last play you could see all the contact as the ball was in the air you simply can't do it and the referee's caught it the defense in a most benevolent move giving the offense a new set of downs he's got it huge game before he goes out of bounds and now they've got it first and goal trying to barge their weigh in and he takes it to the house touchdown Panther Precision blocking up front created the open Lane and the running back followed it beautifully yeah it's pretty easy to follow an offensive line that makes those gos and just gives you a caravan all the way to the end zone what an unbelievable job blocking and the extra point makes it 28 to nothing about to kick it off after punching it in for the touchdown and they thought about a return Then thought better it they'll bring it out to the 25 the Georgia Tech offense rolls back onto the field after that last drive he came back to the sideline and the coach probably said you dropped it you didn't pick it up come on get on the ball David no that's not what he said he said you're doing a great job just keep your head oh yeah he got blasted you got to hold on the football Palmer turnovers to side games those are big plays it's tough on him too cuz he knows he let his offense down on that last drive so you know that guy's eager and anxious to come out here and make a play and it's incomplete if you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball after they couldn't connect it's second and 10 to the air it's King he's got his man brought down at the 39 after a pick up of 10 it'll be a first down and the yellow jackets come to the line with a new set of downs from the gun they'll try to impose their will he's brought down but not before they pick up the big first down and that is exactly why you skip to running the football I haven't had a lot of success but boom you pop on right that's what you got to do you got you cannot become onedimensional and just throw the football every down love the offense sticking to the Run that's CH getting the first down the yellow jackets are in the Red Zone com leaves it with the running back he is tackled but it'll be a fresh set of downs well the offense knew what they needed to get that first down so they dial up the running play they get just enough to keep the drive alive hand off to the single back got some room headed to the goal line and he rolls into the house touchdown George attack 11 getting set for the point after on for the extra point the extra point is good but they're still down 287 they put together a 74 yd touchdown drive and the Capper came on the run to the end zone from the 13 looks as if the returner will try and field this one pull down at the 18 and the decision to bring it out of the end zone was not a good one guys the Georgia state off returns to the field this has been exactly the way you draw things up David the offense has really been moving the football and it's been great execution they've done exactly what they've wanted to do build the lead now Palmer is a different animal now you got to protect it you can tell they were paying attention in practice this week in the film room because they have gone out everybody right now on the same page grabbed over the middle it's Hurst and he's knocked down immediately but not before he moves the chain they've got a first and 10 at the 34 [Applause] E Ed the play fake now to throw incomplete and he threw that one up for gron into traffic fortunate to get it back didn't connect last time let's see if they throw it again on second down wide receiver coming across in motion back to throw it's Gibson looking to the big tight end fires the pass intercepted and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception well the defense was in cover too which means they had two safeties playing deep and they took everything away from the quarterback vertically forcing him to have to try to check it down and a great job by the linebacker jumping the throw and getting the F you'll take this every time five yards on the first down play on defense when they line up with numbers and they line up on your side you're like you're ready it's coming right here and then all of a sudden they mix in counters and they pull one or two guys and go back the other direction that's a really good job by the offense keeping the defense on their that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there how bold will they be on third down after that last run from the gun wants to pass trying to make magic with his feet and he Scoops his way to the first down and then slides to avoid the hit offense working from the [Applause] pistol they've got him looking run now they're going to throw it unloads it left just flying through the air like a superhero to make the grab first down here with time for maybe one more play until the two-minute warning we've made our way to the two-minute warning and now they'll try to at least cut a little something off of this lead before the break oh he makes the catch they get it down to the seven on that pass play in Prime position for a score going to work on second down in the red zone and still some ground to cover to pick up that first down looking for the score had it in his hands for the score and let it fall to the turf it'll be third down really need to pick up this conversion and avoid having to settle for the field goal in the gun and looking to throw on third down holds it in in the end zone touchdown Yellow Jack man nice job getting the passing game going this is big man going into the half and listen I know you're trailing but building some momentum maybe this second half we can keep airing the football out cutting into this deficit and who knows what the heck will happen liing up for the p8 and with the extra point they Trail by two touchdowns 2814 they've got it down to a two touchdown deficit trailing by 14 and about to kick it away and he takes this from inside the five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 Georgia State takes over ready to send out the offense after that last pick David they really need to take care of the ball this time no doubt and Palmer I want to what Spurrier said to you on the sideline after a pick do that again into double coverage and they made him pay it's intercepted even with minimal gain on the return they working with a short field from the 36 well this is just the type of field position this offense wants almost intercepted it'll fall incomplete the defense almost came up with a turnover second and 10 after the previous play dropping back it's kaning they're setting up the screen and he goes out of bounds after a nice pick up on that one they've worked it down to the 30 this defense Standing Tall trying to force a field goal try from the gun wants to pass got it in the middle it's haes and the completion gives him a fresh set of downs and keeps this drive moving and the yellow jackets will line it up on First and 10 he wants to throw it again makes the catch they will score touchdown Georgia and I tell you what that passing touchdown man that should spark this whole team like The Comeback is more than on now like they got the touchdown they cut into the lead you want to get a stop and go into the half get all the juices all the excitement and be like listen the passing game's rolling we got this The Comebacks in full effect and he HS it and everybody's on the edge of their seats P down at the 18 and the decision to bring it out of the end zone was not a good one guys the Georgia state offense returns to the field let's see if this drive goes better than the last one they were in and out quickly after the quick pick David yeah first play big mistake man now let's get this offense in a little bit of a rhm maybe open it up again or do you trust him right away uh he seems to me like the guy maybe that just needs to kind of get into theor of the game so maybe you get the running game going here and just give him some easy looks off he goes and they are pushing the ball down the field a big pick up on that one and the tackle is finally made that last play as this defense on its heels now it's first and 10 from the 21 he's looking to throw it it's complete and he will score touchdown Georgia state that was a lightning fast Drive with a touchdown if you can string a few more dbes like that together man we might as well get our popcorn out because we're going to get a lot of scoring ling up to add another is on for the extra point and they stay on target with the extra point 35-21 quick strike offense on that three play scoring drive and they finish things off with a 21 yd touchdown pass and he passes on the Touchback here he comes he's brought down at the 16 would have been much better off to take the touch back Georgia Tech has the ball back and here comes the Yellow Jacket offense to throw it's King getting late here in the first half they'll have a chance to make this a one possession game the offensive play caller here has to really be dialed in it's important down two possessions David that they're able to score some points and you got to call your best stuff in this two-minute situation and and such a good opportunity to cut into a onore game create that momentum get some good juices going for the second half because obviously you know you built yourself a little bit of a deficit you need some good things to happen and it needs to happen on this possession the pass balls incomplete and that's how will finish this half at the end of the second quarter that means it's time to join Kevin in our halftime update guys tough to beat the pageantry and quality of play so far today in Atlanta and it's been a battle of wills between these two teams through two quarters Bend but don't break they've managed to neutralize the explosive Playmakers on each side by shutting down passing windows and providing tight coverage forget the jibes and Joe's this second half could really be about the X's and O's and with that let's send it back to the guys at Center Park Stadium thanks for that breakdown Kevin the Panthers will try to kick this one deep to get things underway in the second half and he's going to bring it out and the returner will be brought down 26 the Ramin wreck offense rolls back onto the field not hard to figure out why they Trail to start this third quarter three first half turnovers so if you're on offense let's just stay out of our way and find out what happens here in the second half we're not even giving ourselves a chance because we keep turning the football over if we can do that we've got a chance to come back in this game I think it's a crazy balance between being really aggressive in the second half and finding ways to make plays but also not shoot ourselves in the foot right like they didn't live well on that in the first half let's see if they can be a little bit more aggressive while still taking care of the football and there you go you see you don't have to throw bombs to get big plays in the passing game just screen it to your running back as soon as he catches it he gets up field and how about the downfield blocking by these linemen and the wide receivers as they rip off that explosive play looking to pass it's King finds his tight end B enough room get it into enemy territory they're down at the 43 yd line the yellow jackets are in the hurry up and that's why QBs love their tight end so much right especially when they're athletic because they make short throws turn into long games because of his ability after they running toward the tape touchdown yellow jackets and the comeback is on I love the execution on that play great blocking up front just to get the ball carrier an opportunity in the second level of the defense and then at that point it was make a guy Miss and use the speed that was a perfectly executed [Applause] play they tack on the extra point and they're down a touchdown 3528 quick work on that scoring drive just four plays and how about that for a c or a 43 yd run for six on the run from inside his own five didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 Georgia State takes over ready to send out the offense that last Drive really productive David wound up with a touchdown they'll try to do it again yeah so I don't expect this offense to change too much Reese they had a great Drive they got the touchdown everything working I would expect them to keep pushing this ball down here and just imagine if they could put another touchdown on the board right here they could capture so much momentum in this game with backto back TDS and he was looking over the middle and couldn't make the connection not exactly the ideal situation for this offense third and long back up inside their 20 coming after it and that one's incomplete they weren't just trying to move the chain they were trying to move the scoreboard instead it's fourth down well in the first half this offense was up and down the field it seemed like everything they were dialing up was working and here we are in the third quarter and there's a very rare incompletion on their own end of the field maybe that's the play the defense needs now to spark some momentum and it's swatted away it's a turnover on Downs offense getting set for first down he'll keep it himself got some room headed to the goal line and he's loose and he'll take it to the house touchdown Georgia attack with the one of the things I love about this QB as a runner is not just as athleticism but how t is he can run in between the tackles in the middle of the field push the pile break tackles linebackers are trying to bring them down he just keeps his feet driving that is impressive and the extra point was good no incident there and we are tied up in the third that's taking advantage of a golden opportunity set up with great field position and they struck quickly for the touchdown he start the return inside his five he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 guys the Georgia state offense returns to the field what a turn that last Drive was didn't pick up the fourth down and it led to the scoring Drive David yeah and those are frustrating because you think you might get points and then your defense gives up points this has got to be a complimentary football type deal the offense now needs to provide a little spark and give this defense hope no doubt David they got to turn the page and they've got to play with a little bit more urgency here knowing they've got to get that one back and put a good drive together off play action on first down right down the middle and he throws his third pick of the day his head has to be spinning couldn't find a ton of room on that return with that small change they take over at the 43 good field position here as they start this drive from their 43 pre- snap Motion in the back field trying to find his man on first down caught in the back field it's Hayes and he was Off to the Races finally tripped up at the 36 and the yellow jackets want to pick up the tempo that's why for the offensive coordinator you've got to find as many ways as possible to get this guy going just get him the ball close to the line of scrimmage doesn't need to be a throw deep down the field he's so Dynamic when he has the ball in his hands you saw it right there when you're a defense it is stop the run first that is your first responsibility it makes the whole game easy and right now they got it going on the ground defense is going to have to change something up these little tiny Dink and dunk Dink and dunk you keep doing this they'll go all the way down the field on you so you might want to get a little bit more aggressive right on the money to the outside receiver could [Applause] get he got it that completion will take it inside the four and the offense is threatening defense trying to come up with a stop on second and goal going to run it it's haes and he gets it back to the four yd line no farther than that no gain on the play this is a money play on Third and goal from the gun wants to pass and the quarterback caught up two and sacked at the 12 they'll try to get something out of this drive and kick the field goal here on fourth down he got it and guys after the field goal now they have the lead so they're lining up to kick it off after that last Drive put a three spot on the board and now the defense will try to shut him down and the returner goes down Georgia State takes over ready to send out the offense mistakes are going to happen as they did on that last drive now how will they respond Jesse and this is the kind of guy who's going to take full accountability that was my bad that's on me I'm about to lead this offense now down the field SC some points dang Palmer I wish I would have played with you I didn't play with many quarterbacks I was just like yeah my bad hey guys I got this sorry about that it was more we should have won a better route the offense getting set for a first down from the 45 used the play fake now to throw unloads to the wide out a strike downfield touchdown Georgia State and that one will give him the lead yeah really nice job seeing the middle of the field see I can go deep attack the middle of the field you can tell he runs a post balls right on him catches the football and then gets to gallop right into the end zone for a touchdown and he tacked on the extra point lining up to cover the kick after that touchdown [Applause] drrive he'll return it [Applause] rolling the dice to bring it out of the end zone did not work out as he stopped at the 13 the Georgia Tech offense rolls back onto the field always good to get points on a drive David but Chip Shot field goals can leave you a little empty and I think it's great to get points but the great teams get touchdowns in the red area you got to get out there this time and execute a little better on this drive you're absolutely right David generally the best Red Zone offenses are the ones that run the ball the best so let's see if they can be a little bit more physical on this play you got a third and manageable back up in your own end but convert here and you get some momentum back to pass it's King they're trying to get to it and that defense gets to him and down he goes at the nine the yellow jackets send out the punt unit finally sending out a punter in this one got to make sure they earn their letter he gets it away from his own End Zone he gets a block that Nifty return sets up the offense and negates some of the yardage on the punt guys the Georgia state offense returns to the field and David how they would love to stick it in the end zone one more time after that last drive and once you get the defense on their heels and you back them off a little bit you get in a little bit of Rhythm it's really hard to stop Jesse and they're going to try to do it again right here and if you're this play caller you're loving what's happening right now because everything you dialed up on that last Drive ended up working out you're just looking at your play sheet everything you're picking is working let's see if they can pull it off again here and he pulls it in inside the 15 yd line touchdown Panther and once he found some daylight it was time to make a house call he has been surgical Precision passes using to scaff the Fine instrument rather than the blunt one the defense is abs abolutely no answer for it just he's been down there close all game long a step ahead understanding what he's seeing and just destroying this defense on to attempt to try and with the extra point they pushed the lead out a little they did with that long touchdown pass to finish off a two-play drive and it'll come out to the 25 no attempt at a return George attch has the ball back and here comes the Yellow Jacket offense boy three and out last time David they'd like to be more productive this time around yeah the last Drive nothing really clicked no rhythm got off the field really really quickly they need to put something together here yeah David bad execution on that last drive so they got to take a collective breath and start playing like a unit on this he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple trying to pick up a first down to the air it's kaning he looks that one in nicely and they reacted well to the completion but it was too late to keep them from getting the first down these two quarterbacks have produced as we check out their numbers after three one more period to go to see who can make the winning plays and come home with the victory and the yellow jackets will snap it on First and 10 he's going to pass using his legs keeping his eyes down field short gain on the play before heid those always sting a little bit when you get so close to to getting the QB to the ground creating a negative play and then all a sudden he turns it into something positive just really annoying as a defensive guy and he'll be takeen down but he does have enough for the first down the yellow jackets are on the move wants to throw on first down quick completion on the out he's run out of bounds but not before turning in a big pick up and moving the sticks for a first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs comes out throwing on first down and this will be incomplete a big hit there forces second down couldn't make the connection last time let's see if they'd throw it again on second down he'll fire and the pass is incomplete Jarred Loose by the hit if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum on Third and long trying to have a big completion here and that'll be incomplete they certainly weren't afraid to take a shot there and now it's fourth down so now on comes the field goal unit everything will have to be clean from 55 yd away from 55 ydd out and he's got it never a doubt after that last field goal Drive they're set to kick it away how nice is it as a head coach to have a kicker like this it makes these decisions on fourth down so much easier just him out there and let him stroke it through the up Georgia State takes over ready to send out the offense and now that cushion is a little bit smaller and any mistake would get magnified yeah a little bit of pressure now on this and it's intercepted a huge fourth quarter play for this defense and they capitalize not only on the pick but the great return to give the offense tremendous field position and the sudden change situation even more difficult for this defense facing a first and goal several Defenders get an assist on that tack well no question they've got to score a touchdown and get the two-point conversion here but that's a good start to this two-minute drive you always want to get it going you want to get that momentum saged in the end Z touchdown Yellow Jackets this is like a baseball pitcher that can't miss he is just pounding pounding pounding the strike zone yeah it just gets in the zone right and you can't miss you you've seen quarterbacks get like that no matter what they do they're on fire they're hitting the receivers and listen that's also on the defense the defense has to do a better job making him feel uncomfortable changing what they're to the end and it's picked off almost ready to kick it away after scoring the touchdown he'll bring it back from inside to SP he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 guys the Georgia state offense returns to the field well the good news about this drive Jesse it can't go worse than last time through a pick and it's picked off that's the turnover they desperately needed he didn't get a lot on the return but man he set his offense up at the 30 line gets set first down used the play fake now to throw it's complete to the left and he was loose and in the open field and on his way A already in Prim field goal position but they would love to score a touchdown to take the lead touchdown George attack and they grab the advantage taking the lead here in the four and some of these guys make it look so easy but these are tight windows down here man there's not a lot of space on the field and he drops back knows exactly where he's going with the football throws it in there makes the play and more importantly now his team is in the lead in the fourth qu here's the return from inside is 10 and he'll be brought down after a solid effort on that return Georgia State takes over ready to send out the offense one of the most valuable things a quarterback can have David shortterm memory just forget that last pick you're dang right clear the mechanism it's over move it behind some players can't do that real well leads to more mistakes Jesse you got to just forget about it move on and I think the coaching staff can help him too David I think you can get the running game going here and also give him some easy throws as a defensive guy now you're always zoomed into the quarterback I mean these guys they're whether they're throwing the football or running it at least they have the football in their hands every time you know where they're going to be you focus in the defense locked and loaded understand what they were trying to accomplish doing a good job getting to the quarterback and then make those physical Hits Count finish those fin as those tackles aggressive hits make that quarterback fail you for a whole length of a game Georgia State ready to go with another first in 10 he wants to throw finds his Target down the middle they make the stop after the catch and still some work to do to pick up that first down and a really nice job by the wide receiver you run a drag route find Space they're in intensity is palpable a huge play right here on Third and two they want to just keep throwing it how about that play to get a hand in there and force the incompletion got to give the defense credit on that play taking everything away forcing the incompletion now it's decision time fourth and short in your in field goal range what do you do here it's incomplete and they desperately needed to keep that drive going and they couldn't make the connection here comes the biggest drive for the defense desperate to get a stop smart move to keep it on the ground and this one will be stopped for no gain the defense obviously at this point is trailing they need to get the football back they're expecting run they know the offense is going to try and bleed the clock so you got to be good at the point of attack they were right there they gave up nothing on that run they'll keep it on the ground now they've got even more breathing room out to the 31 and a fresh set of down the analytics nerds say the goal was at least four yards on First and 10 the give on the inside able to SC three yards out of that one somehow it's second and seven you know it's so important for offense is to want to keep third Downs manageable the way you do that is by having success like that running the football on first down they'll give it on the counter and they try to run inside and there is nowhere to go they line up with some serious work to do if they want to convert this one scoreboard operator got a workout in this one fun game for us to watch but they can't come up with the w yeah and it's a team game right the offense did their job and now defense will have to find a way in the future to make better plays get stops and stop him scoring so many points especially when your offense does their job and we
