the Seattle Seahawks made a trade today in that uh they sent Michael Jackson quarterback Michael Jackson over to the Carolina Panthers in exchange that picked up Michael Barrett a um linebacker to add depth to that Barrett played under um head coach Mike McDonald in 2021 when Mike was the um at Michigan Mike was the defensive coordinator at Michigan and then his senior year that is Barrett played on Michigan's National winning championship team he was the captain then was was undrafted was picked up by the uh Carolina Panthers and he's played in two preseason games so uh Seahawks up as some questions brief Michael Bear What Do you like obviously coach in Michigan what do you like about him um yeah you know I think it's uh it's not it's a it's a team decision to bring him to bring him in and um guys in Carolina spoke highly of him uh Mike was very productive at Michigan obviously so we had a chance to e coming out he's playing was it two years after we left um to go back to Baltimore so I'm just excited have been here and he's got a great opportunity to come compete and and H himself a spot here for for hopefully a while what for the starters on offense to play Satur uh yeah so uh the plan is uh you'll see a lot of starters to start the game um how many reps and all that uh it's kind of on a herp person type basis but uh the plan is to see a good amount of the guys um we got a couple Nicks and bruises here we hold some guys out so there's some some guys you might not see that you might expect but for the most part um most the starters start the game what incl sorry sorry what are the merits starting is it because that extra week next week gam well different different reasons uh offense we just haven't had a chance to get everybody out there and and operate you know especially you know at our home field and um you know go through all those things and just there's something to you know put the pads on and actually go out and and move the ball before we do it for real and then uh defensively you know we only got six snaps in the first game so an opportunity to go out there and and put some put some Co Market film on tape and have some confidence going in the first G competition does brings out the best in people and um both guys are you know both guys are making plays in their own right so um we're excited about those two you on where they're at but uh we still got one more game to play so it'll be fun to go see them do their thing on set we're not sure time table and uh Trey uh we're looking at probably practicing next week all right as as you saw from the video the Seahawks were padless today and it's what Mike McDonald calls his uh act day which is action I'm going get this right it's alignment communication and technique and in that there are it's it's more than a walkth through but really it's about alignment and getting the teams together I mean the players so that they understand their positioning kind an uptempo type of situation and so you did hear McDonald say that confirm that the starters will play tomorrow including Gino Smith most of them will and uh he didn't of course the coach was vague in terms of how long they'll play I say look for them to play probably about uh two to three series that start as well and um and then es for practice itself number 17 was out here that is Jerome Baker with s it was good to see him and uh Mike McDonald said you know what he's trending and he's moving along and so he's on schedule here as as you know M uh Baker you know seen limited amount of practice so this is a good sign for that linebacker position defensively the the Seahawks today kind of when they went to the team drills again it was kind of you know lineman technique you saw Devon Witherspoon and Rick Woolen over at the cornerbacks and then Kavon Wallace and at strong safety and Julian love obviously so they those were the they played Four linebackers I mean four quarterbacks right so sometimes they'll play five and uh Kobe Bryant was in the mix today over at safety so when they went to the dime and nickel packages they kind of mixed it in there in terms of what you saw and then yeah I really all I have to say there's there's a lot of battle there's a lot of uh positions up you know up on Saturday's game and I would go to uh the running back you know that the third running back place you heard McDonald speak about that and that's between Kenny M McIntosh and also uh George helani I would also say you know the wide receiver who's that fourth and fifth the viscus and all you know or is it you know Cody Baker just all of those things Cody white just in terms of you know who's going to take that uh that next step as Mike McDonald said you know we talked to the players about the opportunity for them to continue their dream of playing in the National Football League and that's what's you know that's what's at stake on Saturday for us you know we're going to watch and a lot of people like well the last preseason game let's get on with it but nah uh fans keep an eye out on who you know once the once the starters are out there's backups the backup to the backups and then kind of see because that will be the depth of your team and that's really what you want to see and um you know quarterback is another position you know the thing about this team is depth depth depth and that's going to it's going to play out on Saturday because after that as I said you know you only got a couple more weeks left and before the regular season starts so from the vmac and renting m v Mar for
