Toby Keith's family is continuing to honor his legacy two months after the country music star died at age 62 his children Crystal Keith Shelley Koval Roland and stalen Keith Koval attend the 2024 CMT Music Awards in Austin Texas on April 7th and express what the night means to them in a new Interview With Us Weekly Shelly says it means a lot it's our first really public appearance public outing and so it's very bittersweet it's going to be emotional we're doing our best to keep the tears in now and make it through this line of cameras throughout the ceremony several Stars paid tribute to Keith who passed away in February after his Battle of stomach cancer [Applause] love Brooks and dun saying his hit should have been a cowboy and Laney Wilson covered his song how you like me [Music] now additionally Sammy hagger performed Keith's track I Love This [Music] Bar yes we and we [Applause] love and Roger clevens shared a few words it's an honor to be here and celebrate at Big Dog daddy Toby Keith a true friend Patriot and Great American Shelly Crystal Steelman thank you for sharing your dad with all of us thank you raise your fist if you don't have a solo cup let Toby hear you repeat after me whiskey for my men whiskey for my and beard for My Horses for my let's go in our last interview with Toby Keith he reflected on his career ahead of receiving the country icon awards at the 2023 People's Choice Country Awards congratulations on the country icon award what does this mean to you well it's you know a lot goes into it a lot of people behind the scenes but it's it's nice to recognize in the 30-year career and when they showed all the video highlights today of the of my career I was pretty impressed too I didn't it goes by so fast but it's pretty pretty mindboggling you had such a successful career reflecting on your career what are you most proud of my songw writing just those years of uh pounding those songs out there and and U remembering where you were when each one of them were conceived and all that it's just it's amazing and your performing tonight what song are you going to do do the song I wrote for that Clint Eastwood movie don't let the old man in oh the mle I that Premier in La great song yeah we're going to do that now rat clar C requested me to do it so I think Blake's doing who's your daddy and then I'm going to do the old man some I love that that's a good lineup I know you've you've opened up about your cancer battle how are you feeling today what's getting I feel pretty good i' it's a little bit of a roller coaster you you get good days and and you know you're up and down up down but it's always 0 to 60 and 60 to zero but I feel good today yeah did these award shows ever get old or is each one kind of fun no they're all fun you know especially when you're getting recognized [Music]
