the whole band was based on friendship and laughter what entertained us right whether it was the dialogue on the bus or how we wrote songs it was all about entertaining each other and ourselves so yeah those moments come fast and furious to me and how did those moments come to you if you were going to write a song was it just something uh someone would say something funny and gorg would I would see him pull out his little book that he kept in his pocket and he write down something it might be the next week might be a year later those things popped up in conversation so when I listen to the songs uh I hear I'm immediately taken back to we were in a dressing room we were on the bus and Johnny said that or Lord said that what was it about the hip when you first encountered them that made you go I want to work with this band I mention it in the documentary but it was 30 seconds into the first song it was it was uh explosive yeah like you know greatness when you see it and that was the first time I saw greatness oh wow and was there cuz I know you guys dug up a lot of stuff from the archives was there a moment or a clip that came forward that even blew you away that you hadn't seen in a long time there's some stuff that was shot at Daniel Lamb's House in New Orleans in the French Quarter in um a haunted uh mansion that he owned at the top of the quarter and we made you know two or three records there and so there was some footage uh done on video uh that was uh that was nice to see again you know when we were very young and and U mischievous maybe in the in the French corter late at night so a risky place to be it was in those days yeah for sure there was some stuff that uh that Mike found Mike Downey the director found that blew my mind that I was like I did not see that and then there's some footage from Saturday Night Live that nobody ever saw on television which was Chris Farley and Adam Sandler watching the band off off behind camera and out to the band like I was like I've never seen that before so there's some great stuff in there that I think most people will be really surprised by and I heard that you read a letter in the documentary that came up the day I was getting fired fired yes what what was that like rereading that and well I never read it in the first read it you never got to read it no gourd read it to me Goa so I actually never I saw it in his hands right was it healing therapeutic reading through it or seeing it or feel no not not at all not at all I I uh you know surpris I'm back so so you know that's awesome if I wasn't back maybe I'd have a different attitude different feelings about it what was your first thought when you got to watch it for the first time how did you feel well we watched a lot of different versions so um you had moment Ed and back and forth and things like that so um I think the first time I saw it complete um uh it was uh it was uh a celebratory moment because it this was four years in the making so awesome thank you so much for being here you're welcome [Music]
