why is NASA astronaut Sunita Williams stuck in space Sunita Williams and fellow astronaut Butch Wilmore were on a mission aboard Boeing Starliner capsule which launched on June 5th 2024 the mission was supposed to last just 8 days but technical issues changed everything the Starliner experienced multiple problems including helium leaks and Thruster failures making it unsafe for the astronauts to return on it NASA and Boeing decided to bring the Starliner back to Earth without the crew to ensure their safety Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore will now stay on the ISS until February 2025 when they will return on a SpaceX Dragon capsule stay tuned for more updates on their Journey back to Earth
