University leaders released the first renderings today the stadium days after canceling its contract with one of the builders. FOX 13's Aaron Mesmer is live at USF with the board of trustees talked about the stadium this morning. Hi there. Aaron looks great. Where the least developments here. Well mark. First of all, there's gonna be a slight adjustment to the construction schedule. Instead of this being finished in 2026. The new schedule has a completed around 2027. But despite that slight delay, there is still a lot of excitement on campus. This creates and kind of completes what I believe will be one of the finest athletic districts in all of college sports. It's a moment USF fans have been waiting for a look at the university's future Football stadium. It'll be different. It will be better. And our students deserve it. Our fans deserve it. University leaders released the first stadium renderings during a board of trustees meeting Tuesday released the conceptual rendering because everybody a good feel of the orientation of it, how it's kind of kind of come together from the major features that will be involved in it. President of Athletics Michael Kelly and USF Foundation CEO J. Stroman told trustees. The initial design phase is finished. But not before the university canceled its $14.8 million agreement with the construction company. Stroman says USF was going to pay a premium to build the stadium faster and be done by 2026. However he says that timeline isn't possible. But when you really study the supply chain realities, and we did that, through this early design phase, you know it really hits you right in the face that as much as we want to have a stadium in 26, there's no possible way to get that done so that contract was terminated. USF will now aim for a more economical deal and a delayed 2027 completion. The beauty of this is we have direct access to the architects now and more of a say in the final design, which is still a 35,000. Eat. $340 million Stadium. The new images thrilled the chair of the board of trustees, he says building the facility well is more important than building it fast. Their stadiums not too far from here, where they probably did build it faster. But we're not trying to build a stadium like that. We don't want to bounce house. We want our house. Thank you.
