a new development overnight in the US former president Donald Trump won't face sentencing in his harush money trial now until after the November election us bureau chief David woywood is in New York David the Trump team is celebrating this rolling hey good morning yeah look this is a significant Victory here for Donald Trump and his legal team the former president now has that shot of contesting the upcoming presidential election without that threat of a jail sentence now hanging over his head a low Manhattan Courthouse this morning delayed delivering a punishment to Donald Trump on his hush money case where he was found guilty of 34 criminal counts of falsifying business records now the sentencing postponement may give him a free run to the November 5 poll but he will return to this Courthouse just weeks after the election on November 26th so this is only a delay it is nothing El look Trump wasn't in court for the ruling today but he wasn't far away just around the corner in fact at a different Courthouse where he is appealing a $7.5 million defamation ruling after being found liable earlier this year of defaming and sexually assaulting writer E Harold former president Donald Trump earlier today it's an appeal of uh a ridiculous verdict of a woman I have never met I don't know I have no idea who she is she wrote a book and she made a ridiculous story up now a ruling on that case is also not expected until after the election now just 60 days away David wood reporting there
