MAKE HIM GAY!? Salty games media uses Astro Bot success to CRY about Concord FAILURE!?

[Music] everybody is talking about astrobot a fun little platformer game that I didn't even know existed until Thursday of last week maybe I think it's the first time I I heard of it when I saw some gameplay and a review talking about how great it is and then I watch watched a couple more reviews and they all said the same thing that this is a great platformer and some fun visuals it's kind of like I'm trying to think of the best comparison I guess Mario Galaxy but instead of Mario it's got a PlayStation aesthetic because it's kind of a tribute to the history of PlayStation and it's also a great platformer I've been having a blast with it I didn't even know it existed until two days before it came out and then I just ordered it on a whim and I'm glad I did man it is a lot of fun I love good Platformers been playing them my whole life if you had a Nintendo Entertainment System and Platformers were the were the bread and butter of that system same with Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis so I kind of grew up on these games so I always love playing a good one and it's a shame because you don't get a lot of games like this anymore is everything kind of skews towards live Ser as Shooters it's always fun to pick something up like this and I think this interview that some members of the team gave they got picked up by bounding into the comics here kind of explains a lot about this stud studio and why they're successful you had a lot of people from I think Japan Studios from uh the former PlayStation Studio it was just called Japan Studios uh they got disbanded un fortunately I think the last thing that they made was the Demon Souls remaster which also was a time to dust off my PlayStation that's actually the reason I got a PS5 was for the Demon Souls remaster because I'm a huge Souls fan and honestly since that game I haven't really played my PlayStation 5 that much so I finally dusted off and it's funny to me that it's made by members of that game Studio but they got absorbed into team Mobi and team Mobi like I said gave an interview and they said something about this they have about a 100 employees apparently that uh made this game a team of sub 100 employees to work on this uh but they they dropped this talking about the kinds of people they hire the kind of atmosphere that they want at their studio and when you see the results of a game like this and you read this it's like okay well that kind of makes sense it seems like they were just left to do what they needed to do but they said this when we do interviews we check first for whether they know our games and are genuinely interested and not just in the product itself but also the soul behind it he further explained because if you're able to relate to the game and to the consumer and if you care about how the user will feel when they're playing then it's likely that you will care about how the people around you feel every day right that's an important conversation we have when we hire he concluded besides the skills it's also about the attitude and the fit within the team sometimes that means it takes us a long time and our interview process can be tough it's not like you can absolutely tick every single box and you never truly know until you can spend time together but yeah we are very cautious so they bring in the right people and people that have the right attitude they don't bring in people it sounds like that uh have certain modern attitudes and it kind of helped put a good game together but there's something to be said here about looking for the right qualified person that a lot of these Outlets I don't think really do anymore it seems like a lot of people want to hire popular modern checkboxes and you see how well that's worked out for a lot of other companies but the game is doing well it I think it probably is it's at least sold out in Japan apparently I I hope this game does well I would like more games like this because we've we've gotten some really good Platformers in the past that never got sequels because they just don't sell very well a really good example is Rayman Legends which is a fantastic game probably one of my favorite Platformers sidescrolling Platformers of all time uh Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends are fantastic games and they got sheld we have not I think there was one for mobile phones but who gives a about mobile phone gaming they have not made a console PC Rayman 2D Sky sidescroller sense Legends like with traditional controls and it sucks cuz those games were amazing and they've instead decided to develop like Star Wars Outlaws and 35,000 Assassin's Creed games while those just sit in obscurity and it's because they didn't sell enough they didn't make enough money which is wild to me because you would think a game like Rayman would be relatively cheap to make compared to some of these other games but anyway I think this game is kind of broken game journalists this is from the gamer I'm worried the robot and astrobot isn't attractive enough for me to enjoy so the games that have come out this year a couple of them have failed spectacularly some of them have been hot sellers like Stellar blade for example that game sold very well and the gamer was very upset about that they wrote several articles telling you why you shouldn't buy that game why it's problematic that the lead female character is sexy because you know we got to make sure the male gaze doesn't break out again that cannot be a reason to buy a game there there was a meltdown over this game and it was also a good game despite the Aesthetics it was also a good game and it did well and it frustrated them so now he's trying to be sarcastic here and write this cheeky article about why he doesn't want to play astrobot cuz the robot is not sexy and you can't help but feel that this article was inspired by the failure of Concord a game that failed pretty spectacularly I'm going to do a video on that later because uh some stuff has come out talking about the firewalk might get shut down that's not confirmed but there's rumors that it might and the game is probably sheld forever it might not come back as free to play either and that's driving these people crazy so he puts out this whole article pretty much kind of doing a parody of the Stellar blade argument saying oh well the robot doesn't have any lips or male genitalia so why would I call it a he despite him not having any male genitals and you know the games that do well they're they're woke they don't do well because they're woke nobody said that about Concord but to deny that those ugly characters didn't play a factor in that game failing is a lie you know that was a factor it was 100% a factor it's not the only thing but when you make a hero shooter it would help if the characters looked like Heroes and it also would help if they looked like Heroes and you know had the typical superhero type of style body like a Greek guy or goddess I those things would have helped instead you had characters that had to pull that are so overweight that the genes have to go over their belly the one character in that blue jacket that everybody thought was a woman was really a guy pulls his pants over his belly nobody wants to play a hero shooter with a character that looks like that I'm sorry it's a fact and people that say that they do want to play as that character probably don't actually play video games uh there's a lot of people that don't even play them that like to put their time in uh energy into telling people that actually play games how they should be playing games like most of the people at the gamer so anyway that's pretty much it let me know what you guys think about all of this I'd like to hear from you in the comments also if you would please like subscribe share the video make sure you're still subscribed hit that notification Bell and we'll see you on the next one peace [Music] [Music] a [Applause]
