Richard Gere jokes he and Julia Roberts had ‘no chemistry’ in the ‘tiny movie’ ‘Pretty Woman’

Richard Gear has had some thoughts reminiscing about his 1990 film pretty woman while appearing over the weekend at a master class during the 81st Venice Film Festival G joked that he and his co-star Julia Roberts had no chemistry in the scene where his character wealthy businessman Edward Andress as Roberts's character Vivien this actor and this actress obviously have no chemistry between them G would say I haven't seen this in a long time that's a sexy scene gear said he thought his role in the hit romantic comedy was criminally underwritten it was basically a suit and a good haircut he would say gear said he didn't know how successful the FM would become this is a movie a very small movie with a wonderful director named Gary Marshall gear explained but we had fun making this tiny movie and we never really thought anyone would see it yet of course it became a huge box office success for its time the 75-year-old also said the sexy piano scene was improvised Gary said to me what do you do late at night so I said well I'm usually jetlagged so I'll find a bar and just start playing piano if there is one so we basically just improvised the scene I just started playing something Moody and it just worked
