very very important that the Giants win some games in Seattle and they win some games in the upcoming series because if not it's going to be rough in September and it's going to be rough regardless because the Giants have some tough matchups coming up this is a tough matchup right here the Seattle Mariners of the brightest young teams in the game they're going to come with their aame we're placing Luis Castillo tonight who will go through the lineups off to Milwaukee after this to take on the Brewers some tough series coming up against the Diamondbacks Padres Brewers again Padres again Orioles Royals Dbacks Cardinals it is not going to be easy the rest of the way what's up Manny AES Jr we may depending on the demand we may do some play byplay we may do a play byplay today depending on how many people show up before first pitch I've been had there's been a lot of requests to do some play byplay so I'm here for it if you guys are here for it let's go through the lineups today for the visiting Giants um a transaction which is reflected in the lineup Andrew knap is back now there's a name I've not heard in a long time a long time actually 2022 is the last time Andrew knap made a appearance in the big leagues and he played in three games that year with the San Francisco Giants he had a hit in four at bats he went one for four the Giants are desperate for catching since we traded away our second overall pick Joey Bart earlier this year brilliant good job Giants so we got rid of Joey Bart and have struggled at the catching position Patrick Bailey has been solid especially defensively he's fallen off lately offensively now he's on the injured list and now the Giants are trying we had Jackson Reeds up here they DF REITs who's just not getting it done and have now signed nap who with the Round Rock Express in the Rangers Triple A uh with the Rangers triple A team he has hit 294 this year with nine home runs he's hit very well 840 Ops against AAA pitching so Fitzgerald leading off at short way Jr will be at first base Elliot ramelson left Michael conforto DH Matt Chapman at third Mike Esty out in rightfield Tyro Estrada at second of course McCrae the Speedster who already has his first big league home run a couple RBI he will be in center field and the switch hitting Andrew knap behind the plate today batting ninth so hope for the best for him on the mound today will be Hayden Birdsong the young Phenom looking for a big start from him we're taking on Luis Castillo obviously one of the better pitchers in the game in recent years stats this year are not insane still solid 10 and 12 3.51 ra but but this is a guy who was a two-time Allstar and obviously had some big years with the Reds especially back in 2019 uh he has good just chilling enjoying a double IPA okay feeling it I'm feeling it thank you so much so McCrae will be in the lineup today and we will be taking on a tough Mariners lineup which includes Luke rley of course one of their huge Superstars Julio rodrig Cal Raleigh behind the dish Randy Rosara in left we have palanco at second base um former giant hanar as the DH Dominique kzone will be in right roas at third and Ras at shortstop um the Mariners offense has been up and down this year but based on the batting average it doesn't look too too challenging to to be honest but but these guys are all very capable and we know what a r roar can do regardless of this 214 average we've seen what he can do back in his days with the Rays and the Cardinals um we know Raleigh has massive power 27 home runs more than any giant has has hit although Chapman does have 20 um we know Julio Rodriguez absolutely one of the brightest young stars in the game so the lineup is definitely not one to be underestimated am Echo Sky of Lake sabell this time uh signed Andrew knp who did earn it he had had a great year in Triple A down at Round Rock down at uh in Austin Texas area um we also signed a guy named Daren Smith a right-handed pitcher um who is just out of college fresh out of college good arm he'll he'll start his minor league career so we won't be seeing him anytime soon in the big leagues and Patrick Bailey has mentioned on the 10day injury list retroactive to August 19th with a right oblique strain um Tyro Strada is back he is in the lineup today and uh let's freaking go ladies and Gentlemen let's freaking go who do we got the Giants are facing the Mariners in Seattle facts those are facts right there Amo Sky spitting the absolute facts here on this pregame show but um look man this is a massive massive series I'm trying to bring up the standings the Giants did not have in my opinion a great home stand including the two games in in in in Oakland it's fine to split that that Series in Oakland and okay the A's got 1-1 the Giants 1-1 but they were unable to screep the A's they were unable to sweep the god awul white socks who are 31 and 97 could not sweep the white socks have not been able to sweep teams this year if I could say one weakness the Giants have had well two one of them is hitting hitting with runners in scoring position and the other one is sweeping teams coming into a series and owning the series and taking care of it and that's hurt the Giants record it's actually amazing they are above 500 despite only having swept one team all season long so that's been an issue for the San Francisco Giants um so you come into this series four games out right now the Giants are the only team I mean you could argue the Cardinals and Cubs are kind of hanging on but the Giants are the team if one team's going to get back in this thing that's kind of right now on the outside looking in the Giants are the team to do that the Mets are also right there but they are they're right there they're pretty much knocking on the door we were knocking on the door we did walk up to the door we did start we did our hands out we were ready to knock and we said ah nah we walked back down to the street and now we're back on the street I was waiting for you Bob granelli I was waiting for you Bob granelli as long as you're the ones been asking for it you've been don't have a prayer Matts Rockies and Marlins are out of it um but the Giants four games out I said what they had to do in that home stand and to me they did not do it I said lose no more than three games in that stretch against the um Tigers Braves A's and white socks I said if you could lose three or less that'd be that'd be ideal instead they lost one against the Tigers three against Braves that's four one against the A's they lost six so they lost twice as many games as I wanted them to lose and I prefer they don't lose any games but I know that's just you know that's that's uh that's not realistic and right now the Giants have the uh we had the easiest August we have the toughest September uh of almost any team I think it's the second toughest schedule in September so the Giants did themselves no favors by losing games against the Nationals losing games against the A's losing a game against the A's losing g a game against the white socks losing three out of four against the Braves they're just doing enough to kind of hang in there but not enough to to stake their claim in the playoffs playoffs playoffs I'm never saying um when the Giants come to C to town pregame manav list but I'll do a little snippet of it since you were kind enough to send $1.99 there's only eight people here so we're not going to get too much uh criticism when the Giants come to town by by baby need to go out and win the game and actually win the series to be quite honest with you and I mean that the Giants have to win this series it's only going to get tougher and some sweeps would be really freaking nice going to bring up the rest of the season we have I mean only one series I would say against a team that is and Giants could lose to anybody but the only series we have left against a team that's not super competitive would be the Marlins obviously they'll probably be super competitive in that series at Marlins Park on the 30th 31st and the first coming up actually th this week not this weekend right now but this next weekend after after this weekend uh so that's freaking crazy um Brewers tough Mariners tough Diamond max tough Padres is tough Brewers Padre's again Orioles are one of the best teams in the game Kansas City Royals have had a great season Kansas City Royals have been have been fantastic as a matter of fact they got a much better record than the Giants and it's not close and they're right now in a wild card spot the Royals are 71 and 56 that's not going to be an easy series there in Kansas City at Kaufman uh three at in the desert again against the Diamondbacks and then three at home against the Cardinals now the Cardinals have a slightly worse record than the Giants but I mean slightly they're only one game behind the Giants in the Wild Card chase that could turn out to be a critical series if the Giants are still in it especially if the Giants and Cardinals are still in it cheers thank you so much oh my God I'm at the game I don't know anything about baseball help what oh my god did they why did they fire him remember the Mariners fired their manager wait wait oh yeah Scott service Scott service was just fired um so the Seattle Mariners are two and eight in their last 10 but remember the Braves were reeling when we went to play the Braves or when the Braves came to Oracle the Braves had lost like nine of 10 the Braves were struggling they were on a huge losing streak and they came in and beat the Giants three out of four so I put no stock into the fact that the Mariners have been playing poorly and have lost three in a row and are two and eight in their last 10 and just fired their manager Dan Wilson is going to take over his manager and y'all remember Dan Wilson who was a catcher for the Mariners for many many many many years I'll see if we can bring up the the Tweet here on X president of baseball operators Jerry depoto announced today that Dan Wilson has been named as the team's New Field manager this report came out yesterday um Scott service relieved of Duties affected immediately effective immediately to PO that we need a new voice in the clubhouse Dan knows our team has been a key those Seattle Mariners City connects and uh as we get ready for first pitch today is is now exactly 7:00 game is supposed to start I believe at 7:10 we're getting ready here but critical game for the Giants absolutely critical series every single game is Big right now the Giants had done a little better this year and had put themselves in a wild card position by four or five games these games wouldn't be so stressful but as is these games are absolutely stressful and absolutely critical and bird song when we think about Hayden bird song I think of either a really good start or a really shaky start he's he's not he's know he's he's a young guy he's 22 years of age when I was 22 I was uh in the Army and it it wasn't great times but Hayden bird song 22 years of age Eastern Illinois University um last seven starts he has an RA over five it's not a great ER but he has had a couple of really nice starts but his last three have been three losses he lost at Oakland he lost against the Tigers and he lost at Washington that's not good the team lost I'm not saying he got the L every time but the the team lost those games and he failed to get through five on each of these three games by the way there's some see if I can find it he hasn't gotten to the sixth inning but there is there has been some discussion I don't know if you guys have heard about this but there's some discussion about a possible rule change no surprise there another Manfred rule change that would require starting pitchers to actually pitch six Innings minimum every start which used to be the norm obviously and they're trying to bring back the importance of the starting pitcher I like that I don't know if I like forcing managers to do it I wish it would just happen naturally I wish it would just happen organically but we may actually have a rule forcing managers to keep their pitching pitchers in for six Innings unless one of three things happens which those three things would be obviously they get hurt but if they get hurt then they have to go on the injured list so you can't just cheat the system and just say they're hurt if they're not unless you're willing to put them on the iil or if they give up at least four earned runs so if they're not pitching particularly well they give up four earned runs you can take them out or if they reach 100 pitches you can take them out so it's an interesting idea I don't know man I mean I I definitely hate it as much as some of these rules but I don't know I don't know like forcing the manager forcing the manager to keep a pitcher in if they want to take their pitcher out they should be able to go take their pitcher out if they want to take their pitcher out in the fourth inning they should be able to take their freaking pitcher out but this would definitely bring back the prominence of the starting pitcher let's get a quick win before Joe Boyd Tides uh chimes in so it's a super interesting idea I'm wondering what what people think about it I may have to make a video on that I may have to make a video on that I I mean there's so many dumb rules from the three batter minimum to the runner at second base you know like I that mad at this one because it'll actually make the game better for me because I enjoy the starting pitcher but like this guy says I 100% understand the intent and issue their trying to address but I'm not a fan of this idea this sounds like idea that's thrown up there during brainstorming session but I don't see it being implemented they need to go back to the drawing board or why don't make it five innings instead of six why not make it five innings five innings to get the win five innings is official you know why might make it five that's a little more reasonable uh we're I've not made my way to T-Mobile park yet but I plan to maybe next year if the Giants go there I don't even know I know the schedules have been released have to check out do the Giants go to T-Mobile Park next year I'm not exactly sure about to check out and find out swinging a Miss strike no no yes yes I apologize I he swung and missed I thought and then it looked like he was not going to walk away so I thought maybe he fou tipped it or something and then he finally walked away so two outs here next year the Giants will play the Mariners at Oracle in early April so very very early next season they play the Mariners it doesn't look like they return to T-Mobile Park next year I don't see that on the schedule so probably won't be making my way to T-Mobile next year I'm going to go all
