Choose the transfer time between 2 trains to be more than 15 minutes, specifically if the train is getting you on a long traveling distance. Sometimes, there are delays, or you are slow in transferring between tracks. Especially when you are new to the station or it is a very big one. You can reserve a seat for a fee, and I strongly advise you to reserve a seat, because you may end up not finding one. If you have not reserved your own seat in advance, like me, you will have to get up from your place every time you are asked to leave the seat by someone who has reserved it. You will have to get up and search again for a new place. All chairs have numbers, and above the chairs there are small screens that show if the seat was reserved or not. This means you can sit in any place if the seat was not reserved for the destination you are traveling to. Halfway through, I had to change the seat, but luckily, there was an empty seat on the other side. The fee for reserving a seat in the Second Class is 5 euros.
