hello dub Nation with the Warriors lack of consistent three-point shooting efficiency at the back end golden state has decided to bring and stretch forward Davis Baron for a workout in the hopes that he can secure a spot on another NBA team this season and earn an invite to the team's training camp that's the topic of today's video but before we dive into it it's worth remembering that with each passing day we're getting closer to the start of the Warriors basketball season training camp starts in less than a month if you're excited for this new Golden State Warriors season with a new team in the Bay Area you might want to leave a like now let's dive into the analysis of the Golden State Warriors welcoming stretch forward Davis Baron currently a free agent for a workout before the start of the Warriors 2024 training camp he's hoping to secure a spot on the field and today we'll discuss how he could fit into the Golden State Warriors roster we initially heard from Stein lines Mark Stein one of the NBA's most knowledgeable insiders that Davis Barons has been invited to a workout with the Warriors while the team decides whether or not to extend a training camp invite to the lvan league sources told steinline it's worth noting that last season Rudy Gay earned an invite to the Warriors training camp after similar auditions however Rudy Gay did not make the Golden State roster last season which is important to note being invited to training camp does not automatically guarantee a spot on the warrior 's active roster to start the season you still need to earn your spot and prove yourself in a training environment to earn a standard contract for the upcoming season but does Davis bton already have a standard contract for this season the situation was somewhat confusing with an Instagram post from Davis Baron's agent which read Davis Baron will be training for next season with the Golden State Warriors good luck in the Bay Area DB this suggests that tons has been invited to the Warriors training camp indicating that he would be preparing for the 2024 to 25 season however let's hear what D Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area has to say according to him regarding the photo Davis Baron's agent posted on Instagram sources say Baron has been invited to work out with the Warriors but has not yet received an invite to training camp therefore he has not yet secured a contract for training camp whether it be a standard contract ra or something else other free agents have been reporting weekly for workouts with the team and one source described Barons as an interesting name to keep an eye on which makes sense of course there are new veterans appearing every week we recently covered Bruno kabako on the network but it is not yet known if he has received an invite to Training Camp Davis bons is a player who throughout his NBA career has been known as an excellent longrange shooter and right now the Warriors roster is lacking significant three-point shooting ability Off the Bench there aren't many players who are considered stretch bigs meaning they can space the floor with long range shots we know that Draymond Green shot nearly 40% from three last season but his volume of attempts was quite low Davis Barons on the other hand is known for almost exclusively attempting three-point shots it's amazing to think that Barons was drafted years ago before I did my research I believed he was drafted in 2015 or 2016 or even came straight out of Europe as a free agent but in fact he was a second round pick of the Indiana Pacers in 2011 however he was a draft and stash player meaning he was selected but only came to the NBA in 2016 playing for the Spurs Wizards Mavericks Thunder and most recently the Hornets from where he was released on July 6th Barons has had many stints with different teams never quite settling down with one franchise this is likely due to his onc court deficiencies which is why he has been traded or released multiple times he was most productive in Washington but that was a few seasons ago as I mentioned Davis Barons does one thing and does it very well shoot threes when it comes to players who can space the floor and be a threat on the pick and pop there aren't many better than Barons he's shot 38% or better in each of the last four seasons except for the 2021 to 2022 season where his numbers were pretty ugly still for a player who can give you 10 minutes a night or who can be an option in crunch time when the team needs shooting Davis Baron is someone you can rely on to compliment your offense even if he doesn't offer much on defense let's talk about Baron's defense he's known for being an elite shooter but his defensive ability is quite Limited in the modern NBA where defense is crucial especially in the playoffs this could be a problem with bare tons what you gain in shooting you lose in defense on the other hand his 39.2% shooting percentage on three-pointers in catch and shoot situations is quite solid and on shots from above the arc which are the most frequent in his repertoire he's shooting 38.8% these numbers could be enough to earn him a spot on the Warriors bench who are currently lacking players who can space the floor as for beon fit on the Warriors roster he would certainly be a front Court player it's hard to imagine a player who's nearly 7 foot one being used as a small forward or point guard especially someone who dribbles as little as Baron in the front Court we have Draymond Green who will likely play more minutes at Center than many would like this season given the Warriors lack of size on the roster Jonathan kaminga should see a lot of minutes at Power Forward while Trace Jackson Davis in his second season is expected to develop and contribute its Center Kevin Looney will be the backup center while Kyle Anderson with his long wingspan and ability to defend multiple positions should play power forward Davis Baron will likely compete with these players but an interesting comparison can be made to Dario CK who played 64 games for the Warriors last season averaging 17 minutes per night cak like Barons is known for his three-point shooting but was removed from the Warriors rotation late in the season mainly due to his inability to defend Barons unfortunately is an even worse Defender than cak he can't defend on the perimeter and is easily outplayed in the paint given all of these factors I'm skeptical that the Warriors will sign Barons however if he impresses during training camp with exceptional shooting he could be a valuable addition as a specialty shooter especially on a team that lacks floor spacing it's important to remember that the Warriors training camp begins on October 1st in Hawaii and the preseason Begins for days later with a game against the Clippers in Honalulu if Barons can perform exceptionally well during training camp the Warriors may consider signing him but it remains to be seen how he performs in game situations now the question remains should the Warriors sign Davis Barons or not we know that the upcoming offseason is a critical time for the Golden State Warriors who are poised to reshape the trajectory of the franchise will they commit to one last championship run or will they opt for a financial restructuring Mike dunlevy Jr and the front office fa a series of daunting choices leaving
