things that we can't really cover in the Monday show because there's so much going on in professional football right now uh you got the NFL that started up you know the game last night between the Ravens and the Chiefs what a game that was coming down to that Miss uh the missp pass you know that Lamar Jackson had thrown to Z flowers had that been a good pass and he caught it in the end zone we wouldn't have had to come down to that Isaiah likely play to where you know he had one toe on the line but those type of things you'll have to wait for until this upcoming Monday when Cole and I run it back with this week in NFL action today Ryan and I will be talking about CFL Canadian football and we've got the game of the week we got everything laid out in similar fashion what we normally have with the Regular Show I said for today we'll be talking Canadian football we're g to go ahead and get that all started here with the opening drive all right let's go we got trips right act 42 989 on two on two on two ready you know we're going to take it back to our first game but it's not going to be in order because of course we have to have our game of the week in a special spot but when you look at it let's go ahead and take it back to Saturday and talk about this first game there was kind of a dumpster Pelican matchup and that dumpster Pelican matchup had to feature of two teams one of them being the aot red blacks traveling to BC to take on the Lions and the Lions have been struggling you know as of late due to injuries we talk about that for many weeks since you've been on the main show but today on the sister show on Total Football Talk extra we're going to talk about the fact that the BC Lions won 38-2 in this week 13 matchup this past weekend you've got Nathan roor third string quarterback throwing for 325 passing yards three touchdowns an interception three carries on the day as well for 29 yards in the touchdown you got William stanach who has been productive throughout this season for the Lions especially when they've had their issues a quarterback you know with Veron Adams being out and all that you got to look at William stanback 20 carries 93 yards and a touchdown six receptions for 78 yards as well one of the highlights of the offense on this day Justin mcginness three receptions for 72 yards and a touchdown along with Aiden Eberhart four receptions 58 yards and a touchdown the Lions defense four sacks on the day I mean that the Lions team overall produced pretty well on both sides of the ball defense didn't really get any turnovers but you got to look at the fact of what they were able to do by holding the other team to only 12 points Drew Brown on the other side of the ball for the red blacks 206 passing yards with a touchdown rawell Armstead seven carries for 20 uh 24 yards along with Eli stove eight receptions 73 yards on the day with Dominique rhes putting up four receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown the red blacks defense I mean considering the fact they gave up 38 points they had one sack in an in in an interception by Damon web Lewis Ward also puts up two of two for field goals in the day with a long of 53 yards but that's all they could do was mainly rely on their kicker on the day and one touchdown passed by Drew Brown to Dominique ryes Ryan looking back on this game right here it's a dumpster Pelican match up indeed when you look at the fact that red blacks got smacked around like a bunch of dumpster Pelicans only putting up 12 points the other team's 38 what are your thoughts on this game on this past Saturday so this was a special occasion in v on Victoria Vancouver Island is a was the touchdown Pacific game and they set up a they set up a temporary stadium in in Victoria I guess on the on the broadcast Glen suder the play the uh color commentator mentioned a lot that he was from Victoria so if you were playing a drinking game as to how many times uh Glen C was saying I'm from Victoria you would be in the hospital right now with uh alcohol poisoning but this was that the Lions had revenge in their minds last week got away from them in the second it got the game got away from them in the second half they generated no pressure on the quarterback on Drew Brown this was a Revenge game game and they they bring in Matthew Betts who was released from the Detroit Lions in the NFL decid to make a go of it in the NFL unfortunately didn't make the didn't make the 53 53 man roster so he came back he comes back to Canada he's signed by the he's resigned by the BC Lions I guess they owned no he was no he he was a free agent overall he was a free agent so they didn't own his rights like uh like Austin Mack had with Montreal aletes so fans are giving the BC Lions flak saying they're oh they're going over the soft cap they're going on the soft cap look they're going all in for the great cup all right they can pay the first they can they can surrender the first round pick in this year's draft they can pay a big fine they're gon make that money back in the great cup since they're hosting it and they want to host the great cup and they want to be in the great cup so they're going all in now this uh this game featured a halftime interview by Nathan roor where he's talking to the sideline reporter reporter faran ly from TSN he's asking roor hey you know what's what's you know where your thoughts going in the halftime he says you know we're up 31 to six it's all I care about thanks go to the locker room goes off to the locker room they're 31 to six at halftime I gotta say was he in the wrong not entirely I when you're kind of Juiced up you from from the first half you're you're you're geeked up you're ready to go sticking in scking the dou juice into your veins not I mean not literally but figuratively speaking your adrenaline's high you're going to say something that may be out of turn or you just like mean you just don't know you don't always think what you're saying but at the same time you got to give you got give the Seline reporter something you know you're you're professional you got to say something and BC's pass rush we talked about last week how it was absent came back with a vengance this week four sacks night and day difference night and day difference and Ottawa having to go across the country and then Ottawa had to coming back to Victoria having to travel extra because they they're not playing at BC play they're playing in they're playing in a park in V Victoria that might have thrown the game off a little bit and anytime you can score whether it be a touchdown or a field goal within your first five possessions in a half all five of your possessions in a half it's gonna be a great day it's gonna be a great day and Nathan or he's getting better from week to week now we we don't know Vernon Adams suited up this game what we going to see glimpses of him we don't really know but Nathan roor is coming back into form back into the form that won him I think it was most outsanding Canadian in 2022 so he's going to be you know he's he's he's playing well and showed in this game had a really great game 325 yards passing three touchdowns one interceptions lone blemish on his record otherwise pretty damn good day and the red blacks defense red blacks offense and defense look same thing you know it must been they must been left back in Ottawa so we down the offense was downright anemic the defense couldn't couldn't stop a nose bed it was a bad day for the red blacks and I an important game coming up on Saturday against Toronto so now to decide who's going to be in the driver seat per second place and the home playoff game in the Eastern semi in the EAS semifinal coming up in November but yeah great performance by BC compared to the week before bad performance by Ottawa of the week before absolutely I mean at least the red blacks put up that one interception by Damon web but I mean it was kind of like a gimme when you look at the like you know where the ball was placed and how he received it so looking at that it's like like you said they couldn't stop a cold it was kind of like a gimme interception the sack was even kind of a gimme sack you know it was kind of like we feel bad for you because we're smacking the exploitive out of you right now so yeah looking back on it and how this game went I I definitely agree with you on that one thing that I forgot to mention before we got into this game was that we had to buy of course because we have a nine Team league and the alet were the ones that were on buy this week and with what they've done in this league at 10 and one this year and how they've been smacking teams around throughout I mean this is your team you spoke highly of them when you and I first talked about them what back in week two when we first started talking about them on Total Football Talk the you know our our home show and looking at that to now are you surprised that they are 10 and one or did you think that they were they would get to this point or that they would may maybe like seven and four eight and three at this point this is a historic Pace they're 18 and one their last 19 games that's that's that's all-time best in the in in the CFL did I think they would be this good no I didn't think they would be 10- one good I thought they would be like you said seven and seven and four eight and three nine- two but this is a this is a very good team on both sides of the ball they're aggressive on defense on offense they they're opportunistic uh Cody Fardo is playing the Deep ball a lot more this year compared to compared to last year and other years when he was in Saskatchewan with the talent around him uh they lost Austin Mack he's on a six he's actually he was on a six game uh injured list uh this week but they played fine with him for the first nine games of the the first 10 games of the year so I think the momentum continues but you know they're playing they're playing tonight against BC I want to see what week off does for them see if they heal up see what see and see if actually if BC can be can can keep the momentum up but they have to travel back across the country and then some to get to Montreal again so it's a weird scheduling thing where they go to Ottawa back to BC then back to Montreal I don't know what kind of I don't know it's it's going to take a lot out of BC we'll talk we'll talk about that in the in the uh when we preview these games but yeah Montreal class of the league right now uh they're in the driver's seat in the East Division but we're in the we're in the last I I believe we're in the home stretch home stretch of the season next two two months coming up which is going to decide playoff seating and they've clinched home field they clinched home field they clinched the playoff spot already so uh with Toronto's loss and ottawa's ottawa's losing and Toronto losing they've already clinched a playoff spot so it doesn't matter if they lose the rest of their games they're in the playoffs you know I think they're the only team that has been able to say that they have because you look at the way the rest of the league is kind of wide open because that number two spot in the East Division isn't like you know decided yet because you got the red blacks and The Argonaut still going back and forth for that um the Argonauts you know even though they've struggled since you know they were getting hot the beginning of the year that they're still you know like what a game or game and a half behind the red blacks because the red blacks have a tie and are seven3 and one yeah they go they go with a point they go with a point system as opposed to the NFL where it's just by standings they go with a point system because it's Canada kind of like hockey so right now Montreal's in first with 20 points then Ottawa with 15 Toronto with 12 Hamilton with six so Ottawa so Toronto is 3 point behind Ottawa which makes this game very on Saturday very important we'll talk about that in a little bit okay that's very interesting because I was I was looking at that and I was wondering what you were talking about at first but then you know because that's one thing that I slipped to the cracks with me because been very open and honest about this on our main show on Total Football talk like I'm NFL through and through and through with like how I know that CFL I've always love to watch it but the rules has been an adjustment to that because it's not the same as the NFL nor until like the past two years have I really started to really get ingrained within the CFL like is and watching it more consistently so that's why I gota lean on my guys like Ryan McCarthy here to help us get the knowledge that we need to when it comes to this game in Canada we also got a comment here before we go to our next game we got a couple actually from a man siik Diggy good morning good afternoon good evening and good night Edition Canadian [Music] football when it comes to to Labor Day Edition Canadian football we have to start it off with the first one being the Toronto Argonauts traveling to Hamilton and take on the tiger kitties and the kitties played like cats today yes McCarthy puts up the call so do I because we have the cats that reverted into kitties and then the kitties reverting back to being cats this past weekend and did so at home they were not playing in the litter box looking for their little birds they were actually doing their job out there on the grid iron when it comes to that when it comes to this game right here we have to talk about Bo Levi Mitchell turning back the clock yet again 347 passing yards with two touchdowns we got to talk about another person who had a little bit of issues within the NFL trying to make a team then comes back to the CFL that being to aong ofa's brother to Leah who has two carries for 10 yards but also puts up a rushing TouchDown for the tiger kitties you got Greg Bell who has been the most consistent thing within the Hamilton Tiger Cats in my opinion which is why they have gotten the three wins that they've had they've struggled to get those three but the same time Greg Bell has been a huge part of why they have those three victories at this point nine carries on the day 78 yards on the ground with two touchdowns as well as four receptions for 40 yards having over 100 allpurpose yards on the day Tim White another person who has been very consistent within this winning streak or I wouldn't say winning streak but these wins they've mustered up and look at what he did six receptions 180 yards two touchdowns receiving you also got to look at Brandon oi orange with two receptions for 54 yards on the day the Tiger Cats defense though Ryan two sacks on the day and you had an interception from Richard Leonard who has backto back game with an interception and then a man who I was butchering his name for a while but Ryan help a couple episodes ago we say Mark legio who has three of three on the day for field goals with the long of 55 yards but I will still call him legio my edio is how my egio leio my egio kicking specialist it's the nickname that I gave him because he has been on fire during these games where he has had multiple games consecutively now where he's been perfect on goals but having at least one of them go for over 50 yards per game this week he had a 55 last week he had a 53 and the week before that I think he had like a 51 or a 52 I can't remember off the top of my head but the man's been on fire for several weeks looking at that looking at the other team you know as well Toronto Argonauts they did great 28 points on the day Chad Kelly who you know we talked about him coming back recently but he is technically the third quarterback of the year year for the team 322 passing yards a touchdown an interception along with six carries for 39 yards on the ground with one rushing touchdown Kadeem Cary 12 carries for 78 yards David urer four receptions for 78 yards as well devaris Daniels four receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown along with Damonte coxy six receptions for 67 yards on the day I know this is the losing team that I'm giving you a lot of stats but a lot of these stats are a big part of why this team was in it you got to look at the Argan defense too who put up four sacks on the day and a man with a name that I also have butchered for quite some time another kicker as a matter of fact for some reason some reason I keep butchering kickers names but I got the first one down his name is LAM okay he's a man named Lam with the leg L for leg L for Lam okay but his last name is the one I have a hard time pronouncing Ryan McCarthy I don't know if it's a I don't know if it's I don't know if it's Hulu Okay what is it how do you say this man's name because all I can tell you about him is that he went five for five on the day on field goals putting up 16 points and he had a long of 47 yards is his name or is his name Hulu all right let's take you to the I'm going to take you through the phonetic pronunciation of his name you ready repeat after me ha a r r la la who who Runner fan you got that reference is he undefeated he is undefeated he six and 0 Lifetime on the old labor dber he has been around the block you he's got two a couple championships I mean I got to give him my hat off to the man that's why I keep saying turning back to clock when he has these great days yes absolutely definitely turning back to clock he's having some got some rushing yards got you know himself a great day 347 passing yards turn back the clock inject the little labor daber into your veins get the undefeated record good for him if you want to tell Bo Levi Mitchell that today's Labor Day he'll play like it's Labor Day every single week every single game uh Greg Bell I kept kept talking about Greg Bell feed Greg Bell feed Greg Bell and they did they fit him on the rushing yards they fit him on receiving yards he was averaging had 13 touches right nine rushes four receptions for 118 yards total that's 9.1 yards per touch and he continues to be the driving force in this tire Cuts T Cuts offense now I was talking about Tim White I'm not talking about the WWE wrestler and former Handler of Andre the Giant talking about the wide receiver of Tiger Cats uh who you know every once in a while I'm going to call them The Battle Cats from now if you if you don't know the reference Battlecat that's a he's companion who when he's just with Adam with Prince Adam he's cowardly he's a cowardly Panther but once He-Man once he turns once Prince Adam gets his magical powers and turns into He-Man cowardly that cowardly cat turns into battle cat and Tim White help the tiger kitties turn into battle cat in this day when they jumping up to a 21 to3 21 to3 lead in the first quarter all right and we got Lil O Talia taloa Lil O out there in in place of Taylor Powell who's still injured suffering that concussion from a couple weeks ago the had an injury a scary incident U coming in having a couple russan yards getting taking some uh uh some viable time off the clock during the last Drive last Drive of the game for the tiger cats getting some short yards just getting the time just tick tick tick tick tick tick off the clock um Chad Kelly decent game through an interception which led to Tim White's touchdown first touchdown of the game um slow start for him but get give him credit give the AR Argonauts credit kept ticking away four sacks on defense they got big sacks when they needed him Chad Kelly making plays when he needed to make plays chipped away that lead the Tiger Cats actually getting going gting the lead G the lead in the fourth quarter and then tats get that single Force upon pun out of the Argo the T Defense Force upon pun out of the Argos they're playing better they're playing better I would like to see them do a little more don't pet her out so soon I know they're still they're still uh getting used to the style of Chris Jones on defense I hope I like to see them I like a i to use another animal comparison like a dog all right dogs chase after cars but once they catch the car they don't know what to do with it so tiger cats having the lead seemed foreign to them and they don't know what to do so so you know plays on offense rather than just run the run the ball just keeping the Argos defense on their toes they're throwing the ball and I'm I'm sitting there going why are you throwing the ball it's run the clock run the clock grind the grind them down so yeah but Chad Kelly kep them kep the aro's offense in then in the game Aro defense kept them in the game with four sacks and the ti cats defense I mentioned them before getting the turnover that led to the first touchdown but they came up with a big sack big sack in the third in the fourth quarter uh on the on after they took the lead after H not Hy Lau leio leio my egio kicked that field goal force a two and out force force Aros to punt and then bu Levi Mitchell these stones on that man the Classen down it's second and seven and he decides to go deep deep with a deep throw and a catch the one yard line take a couple knees game over so credit to the Hamilton Tiger Cats come The Battle Cats uh this time around but I I would like to see them play better with the lead because they can sat back in the they get they sat back a little bit took the feed up the gas a little bit and they surrender the lead but are right back and they made the important place they need to make to win the game I like it man you know I really like how this game panned out because this was this would have been game of the week in my opinion had it not been for the game that was selected and and and the the way that it went down in the other one uh it just it was a great contest through and through and I really wanted to select it as such but I just you know it it came down to it and I'll explain more when we get to the game of the week but you know the points that you brought to the table it just solidifies my my thoughts on this whole matchup here and and glad that it it it fell into the place of what it did as we are inside the NFL with ran [Music] McCarthy as I'm getting used to the layout of this you know Sister show I meant to click the button like Sam Kennison Chris Farley Adam Sandler and then like others like even if Rodney Dangerfield was able to pop in you can imagine how Wild that one would have been if we would have had that like if these guys would have stayed alive for a little bit longer to like when the early 2000s when that stuff started getting hot cuz around the early 2000s was when those you know formerly mentioned ones I was talking about were getting hot late 90s early 2000s if we would have had that them on some typ even just Kennison and Farley that would have been absolutely wild there probably would been a lot of drugs done in that process kenison Farley uh Ender Dice Clay Bill Hicks um yeah gosh it would have been that would have been an amazing tour yeah sad so sad we we couldn't get that in at Ryan McCarthy I turned 42 last week so he's not that far behind like right in between us in age he's five years above me well four and a half years above me and he's like right at five years under you so he's right in between the age Gap so that's what I'm talking about sicking here wedging the Gap I remember a tour called the Kims of Comedy Tour the Kims of comedy with Bobby Lee Kevin Lee Steve Bourne and Dr Ken Jong yeah Dr Ken yeah Dr Ken Jong he's a he he was a he graduated from Duke Medical School yeah but you know he had to turn to Comedy because apparently wasn't that good of a doctor oh man I'm just joking was he the one who stuck the needle and Tyrod Taylor's rib that broke his rib back in 2020 he might have he might have it might have been a cheaper the cheaper in pandemic Insurance to go through Dr Ken Jong than it go through an ordinary one because you remember how long the it was like such a weight list to go see a doctor and then it had to be spefic specific reasons at least here I don't know how they were over there in your in your part of the East Coast but here oh New York was ridiculous unless you were getting covid tested at like Walgreens or something wild like you had to make an appointment to go see your doctor and before I remember being able to call and go like a week later right this you back then youd had to call in it would be several months and even now it's like several weeks still out it's still like about a 3- we weight period now four years later with the the place I go now ever since everything that we talked about previously it's been going on but you got you got plan stuff out way in advance now so unless you're having an emergency or you're dying it's not like you can get like the quick care anymore so yeah you talk about Dr Ken Jung might start a trend for us waiting to get a little bit more Health Care per doubt it but that's why we talk football we don't talk Healthcare on this show right guys a little bit of fun speaking of the fun button so we have another Monday game that we have to look [Music] at this game followed that on Monday ran with the great salute right there and we look at this on Labor Day as well Edmonton El camos traveled to Calgary to demolish the stamp Peters 35-20 or did the Stamp Peters demolish themselves we'll get into that here in a second but when it comes to that McLoud bethl Thomson bethl Thomson the law offices 486 the law of offices 486 passing yards and three touchdowns along with Gino Lewis's six receptions for 112 yards and a touchdown this right here was purely a passing offense for the most part because they did not put up much on the ground but when you look at Tevin Jones who put up five receptions 208 of those 486 passing yards were received by ton Jones and two touchdowns Curley gens Jr the man who should be selling you life insurance get seven receptions for 115 yards on the day the Elk's defense though Ryan this was what was most impressive to me besides all those great inflated numbers you got to look at two sacks and you gota look at four interceptions on the day okay you gotta look at deadric bham and leoy Purifoy I probably butchered that name yes but what is what is his name LZ peroy LZ peroy okay I'm gonna get this byot next week two interceptions person four interceptions on the day by this team backto back games from bham having interceptions that's three and two games here but the most depressing stat came from the other side as Jake mayor 297 passing yards and a touchdown with four interceptions on the day four of them absolutely terrible stamp Peters running backs though didn't even worse than that on eight carries they put up 18 rushing yards between three different running backs that's absolutely horrible that's putrid yes the only highlight for this team was Reggie begelton who has been the highlight of this team throughout their woses this year seven receptions 118 yards kylin Hill you know also adds a little bit of compliment to that with five receptions for 68 yards and halls in that lone touchdown pass from Jake Mayer the stamp Peters defense was just non-existent on this day Renee Petes another highlight with the with Reggie begelton this year as he puts up another 50 plus yard field goal goes two of two on the day in field goals with 57 yards for that long of a field goal besides those two good things between the wide receiver and the kicker this team was absolutely depressing to watch now looking at what we talked about with the Edmonton El and the greatness that they displayed on in this game what are your thoughts when looking back on this Labor Day contest between these two game between these two teams in Calgary another one of the old labor dber games again get the reference from Home Star Runner you get the reference Edmonton travels two and a half hours to the South and absolutely puts a beat down you know what right now they're not GNA be called Calgary the stamp Peters they're not called the St Peters they're call the dead horses all right because we're be because Edmonton beat on that dead horse all four quarters all four quarters what is the stamp peters's offensive identity right now what is it what is it it it was right now they're just they were I mean there were a passing Jak Mayer 297 passing yards big whoop you should have put at least two touchdowns on the board he didn't put only one touchdown he threw four interceptions it seemed was going to be a seamless transition from B ofi Mitchell over to Jake Mayer looked pretty good in 2022 but in 202 3 and entering into 2024 Jake Bears he's Dr J he's a doctor and Jael Mr high of of CFL quarterbacks either he looks really really great or he's really really terrible and in this game the El camos defense made him look really really terrible six points in the first half on two field goals only one touchdown overall the other touchdown came on a punt return that kept them in the game but let's let's talk about this uh the all offenses of McLoud bethl Thompson balling out balling out 400 almost 500 yards passing almost 500 yards passing this game three three touchdowns and what a perform I gotta say if you go watch the highlights after the after the after watching us go watch the highlights of that game that last touchdown pass he threw to T Jones on and the yak that te keev I mean a lot of those yards by tev Jones was Yak yards after catch on second down and long like think was second and seven bethl Thompson throws his absolute dime absolute dime to T Jones and te Jones just takes out the rest of the way scores a touchdown game over at that point game over T Jones Breakout game the back breaker was after after an interception I believe that was from uh Bam's bam had and the interception the second interception of the game because purefoy's interception pretty much sealed the game but El camos are pin backing their territory Beth Thompson has throw the pass to Gino Lewis gin Lewis fumbles but tein Jones gets the bounce takes it 82 yards and almost scores St at the one yard line that was a back breaker that was the back breaker of the game alok score touchdown and it was just it was it was just a beat down performance and St Peters defense play like an NBA defense they played they didn't play any all right they surrendered almost yards in this game between between Beth Thompson's 486 yards and the Elks getting El getting over 100 yards on the ground 586 yards no sacks no turnovers allowed a allowed 15 of 24 on second down that's a pretty high percentage and they sured three Red Zone touchdowns as well as an eight plus minute drive in the third quarter that REM that ended up in a touchdown that is just a terrible performance on arguably the biggest day of the year the biggest day of the year because it's a rivalry game it's the Battle of Alberta kagar and kagar and Edmonton hate each other not just in football but also in hockey uh totally to totally different sport but this was just an absolute terrible absolutely terrible performance on both sides of the ball for the Calgary dead horses Calgary dead horses indeed I mean four interceptions on the day by mayor and just you handed the game over you still only lost by like 15 points had you thrown one interception you might have had a chance to be in this game like and actually win it but that's something we could talk about more during one of my favorite parts of the week that we actually get to talk about in this show as well as this show is part of Total Football talk now with that being said we've gone through the three you know three big games but we haven't gone through the biggest one and that being what we have to both would say and agree would be the game of the week that game of the week being the game that happened this past Sunday this past Sunday the Winnipeg Blue Bombers traveled to Saskatchewan to take on the rough all right now we're talking about the SC in Ruff Riders looking at what they did at home they played pretty respectable this week I at least got to start it off with that because for a while it's been kind of up and down and uh it's been a little depressing to watch but I have to say even though they lost 35 to 33 as another a team on the road you know there's two out of four games where the the road team won and this being one of them where the winipeg Blue Bombers came to town 1 35- 33 in this Sunday contest Zack Kos 218 passing yards with a touchdown and an interception along with Chris strer seven carries for 12 yards not that big of a stat but he did get two rushing touchdowns on the ground BR uh Brady alera 12 carries 42 yards on the ground with one reception for nine yards toppin over 50 yards combined on the day with Ontario Wilson three receptions for 75 yards remains hot for this team along with Nick demsky three receptions for 64 yards a touchdown the blue Mar defense wasn't you know big on the day but they did put up two sacks was something to talk about along with Sergio Castillo's two of two on field goals with a long of 56 yards made the difference in this game had he not connected on those field goals or at least missed one of them this game would not have ended the way that it did so shout out to Sergio Castillo helping the Blue Bombers make their comeback that they've been making over the past month or month and some change and doing the things things they've been doing on the grid iron Trevor Harris puts up a great fight for the Rough Riders though 368 passing yards with three touchdowns on the day along with four carries for 27 yards and a rushing touchdown with four combined touchdowns contributed for his team in defeat Dante Meyers five receptions 68 yards and a touchdown along with kesan Johnson not the guy from the NFL and not his son but it's also spelled differently kesan Johnson hauls an receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown along with Keon Schaefer Baker putting up five receptions for 79 yards and Shawn Bane two receptions for 16 yards and a touchdown reels in that for the receivers in this uh game for this team for the Ruff Riders the Ruff Riders defense as well one sack and an interception by Marcus sails a lot of stats a lot of things that happened in this shootout of a contest Ryan McCarthy what do you your overall thoughts when looking at this game of the week between these two opponents yeah so looking at this game was a TA two halfs the Blue Bombers uh Blue Bombers on offense 29 Points in the first half one of them and one of those touchdowns being another touchdown on special teams on a special teams Mis cuu by the other team last week it was a fumbled punt return uh by the tiger kitties this week it was a weird bounce uh on a punt and capitalized on by the by the Blue Bombers and they have build a big lead for halftime but Zack karos on the final touchdown of the half suffers a head injury and he's kept out of the rest of the kept out of the game for the rest of the game can see the Blue Bombers were struggling on struggling on offense for the rest of the game Chris trer doesn't have the kind of arm that Zack colos does he can do one thing and one thing well it gets short yardage get short yardage on a one or in or uh you know a very short yard play uh oh fun fact let me ask you a question there uh get some trivia here Mr Mr Willingham Who currently leads the CFL in rushing touchdowns uhoh I can't hear him oh I did it again is it it's not it's not it's not Ola is it no Chris TR Chris trer leads the quarterback the quarterback yes two quarterbacks lead the CFL in rushing touchdowns Chris drer and Dustin Crum of the auto red blacks they're I would guess crumb yes with what he's contributed for the red blacks but it's like you don't really think of that when you look back on you know Chris strer and the Blue Bombers especially with how they were struggling at the beginning so because I mean when you're putting seven up seven to 12 for like a touchdown I'm not really going to put that in the Slate so I haven't really been paying attention to that but quietly he is up at the top of the charts because of the way they utilize him he's like he's like the their version of the tast Hill yeah for the for the Saints in the NFL so yeah he leades the he leaves the CFL in rushing touchdowns I believe he has nine he had two in this game so I believe he has nine on the season I'll double check a second uh ryers but we got talk about the ryers offense impressive stats by by uh Trevor Harris a lot of passing yards 368 passing yards three touchdowns but I think with AJ wette being out of the lineup their rushing game their run game has significantly decreased it has been it's it's a running back by committee right now I don't know how how long wette is out hope I hopefully comes back soon because that guy's a a Workhorse he's a Difference Maker but I can't just blame it on the rushing the the the receivers of the Riders left a lot of yards a lot of receptions on the field a lot of drop passes I counted at least four drop passes by Riders receivers in this game U but it's not only just their receivers their offensive line suffered they had two guys go out of the game and Micah Johnson had to switch positions uh went from defense to play Right Guard did pretty well did pretty well so you know didn't allow any sacks play helped the running game out a little bit when it needed to and let's talk about Sergio Castillo Sergio Castillo Boomer of a leg he has hit on 50 yard field goals he's 9 for 11 this year including a 60 yard a few weeks ago so this was a this was a this was a solid performance by Winnipeg I got credit Saskatchewan for coming back chipping away at that lead just very very much like uh the Argos did against the uh Battle Cats Battle Cats and they they came back they almost they went almost tied the game got the touchdown got with two missed the two-point conversion when when Harris was was harassed threw the ball a little bit early into the hands of a of a of a bombers defensive back but which was dropped um but they get the onside kick they got the fortune of a penalty of an IL illegal contact penalty no it's passive interference passive interference penalty which took them a about 15 yards up and uh Brett Lo had the chance to tie the game with a 50 plus yard field goal unfortunately came was accurate came up a little bit short so right now if if I'm the Rough Riders if I'm a Rough Riders fan I'm a little I'm a tad worried about after this is this is their fifth loss in six games not including the tie they started five- one now you're in a little bit of a hole right now you're still you're still in third place you still have 11 points five six and one but injuries are starting to Mound up running game is not what it had without AJ orlette in the offensive back field now you got to try to figure things out on the offensive line because now you've got some injuries mounting on the offensive line had to bring in a defensive tackle the defensive lineman to play right guard for the game in the game so yeah you got some things to figure out but Winnipeg you I I said in week two said it all the way back in week two a couple months ago you asked me if the week if a p and rebound didn't look like it for a while but now they're on a winning streak and right now they're in first place they're they're in the driver's position they're sitting pretty at six and six and six with 12 points sitting pretty in that first place spot in the west considering that how far back they were in mid July now they're in first place and they're getting the ball rolling this this old team finds a they find a way to win this this team finds a way to win it's a veteran team getting a little older but they've all stuck together and you told me to not to keep the faith you were one of the few that told me to keep the faith and you know it was with this team with this moment right here that you can never ever doubt Ryan McCarthy's knowledge when it comes to the game of the CFL because where some of us had our doubts on the team not on what Ryan was saying in general but just doubts on the team in question you you just you have to look at how this thing went this thing panned out now do you think overall do you truly think overall that they can sustain this for the rest of this year and truly make a push for the gray cup it's GNA be a fight it's gonna be a fight I mean they they have they have a back-to-back game the banjo blls this week I I have to apologize last week I made a mistake I said that Labor Day game Sunday's game was the banjo Bowl I apologize it's called the Labor Day Classic this week is the banjo Bowl in Winnipeg so they go back toback every year on Labor Day week and this week's the banjo Bowl so they got momentum going they have a by week then they play Edmonton that's a game to watch if Edmonton can keep their momentum going this will be a great match on September 21st in two weeks and then from there yeah they a back toback against Edmonton and then they are playing and they're at Hamilton Toronto by week Montreal it's G to be a man it's the back end of their schedule they play all east teams is going to be tough because Hamilton's playing better Toronto I'm kind of up in the air with them and you got Montreal Montreal by that time if they clinch to division they might be they might be playing their second string second string uh guys so I think it's gonna be a really tough go for Winnipeg but I I believe in them very much like Joe Henry I believe in the Rough Rider I believe in the the Blue Bombers I believe in blue bomber I love how you brought in this you just all of a sudden bring in Joe Hendry into football that was absolutely abolutely great Ryan McCarthy you know speaking of that you know we went from talking about see it's it's a little it's a little depressing me even talking about this now but you know we went and talked about the Blue Bombers let's shift it back to another team that was within this game let's talk about the Rough Riders as much as you know I was drinking that Kool-Aid the first four to six weeks of the Season okay can you see them actually bouncing back and turning this around after what has happened over the last month or so I think they can they need to get healthy on offense first and foremost uh this after this week they a buy then they play the Calgary dead horses so they can get back on that train they get back on a winning streak if uh they can beat the dead horses and the back in that schedule you have a by week at Calgary at home against Ottawa at Edmonton that's going to be a game to watch on on October 5th to see the I want to see what kind of momentum Edmonton still has by then then they're at home against BC and they run and that's their season so they gota win out to have a to have a good chance at positioning for the playoffs they gotta win out and it's going to be difficult this week against against Ed against Winnipeg because it's a rivalry game they haven't done very well in the banjo Bowl in the last couple couple of Seasons but then they got BC who's kind of trying to find their identity theyve got Ottawa who's better than a lot of people expected but they've also got Calgary and Edmonton Edmonton's on edmont on the upswing so they gotta get healthy on offense defensively they're okay gota figure got a few things to figure out Cory mace can do that he's he was a defensive coordinator for Toronto for a couple for last three seasons I think he can figure that part out and plus he's still kind of he's new to the the co head coaching position so but I I think if they get healthy especially if AJ if AJ wette could come back then and they establish the run and kind of balance things out I think they could they could get back on the upswing and hold off Edmonton who's currently right behind them in points I like your take on it and I hope that it comes to fruition because you know between their entrance the name the history looking back on it I just I just like the Rough Riders you know just they're not like the alets of the CFL but just just it's something about them the the uniforms the rough so much about it gets me hyped up and then even this game the way they lost I mean I'm not even mad at it you know is a respectable your quarterback played great to keep you in it and why I felt like between the play on both sides it was deserving to be of the game of the week and based on what you had just said you know just basically adds more layers to that so with all that being said we still got more into the show we now have to make our choice for the CFL Grand champ of the week [Applause] where Myck what i'ms right here you know Cole on Monday has we got Ryan today on Friday and when it comes to our dog of the week who's your choice there Ryan when looking back on what we saw in CFL action my dog of the week is ebbington elc's wide receiver T Jones nice T Jones 208 receiving yards two touchdowns including that Clincher that absolutely put the nail in the cofin of the Dead Horses of Calgary and that 82 yard fumble recovery which would have given him his third touchdown it would have been his second touchdown the game the third touchdown of the game would have been that long touchdown reception but K Jones t on the spot with that fumble recovery for Touchdown two touchdowns one of them being the long touchdown on an absolute dime by quarterback by quarterback M McLoud bethl Thompson on second and long to seal the game that's my grand champ of the week how about you J nice so like I was conflicted because I want I had I had two quarterbacks that I was looking at and I wanted to choose the one for the elos when it came to McLoud bethl Thompson I wanted to but at the same time Ryan's pick of Tevin Jones was great you know and if it wasn't for Tevin Jones's numbers you know McLoud bethl Thompson wouldn't have had the production that he had on the day with 486 passing yards and three touchdowns two of those going to T Jones so I looked at another team and another team that's been struggling for quite some time a team that I've had more in the snowflake of the week than I've had in the dog of the week discussion and I gotta give this one to the old man here Bo Levi Mitchell 347 passing yards on the day this pass late Labor Day like you said he's undefeated on Labor Day six and0 back from start to finish in career Ryan McCarthy dropped that dime and because of that because he sold me on that he had two pass and touchdowns he did have some help with Greg Bell on the ground as well as toia tongo vioa looking at all that there was still a great mixture of plays within the Run within the pass within the play action for this team in this game and because of the way it was spearheaded by the old man Bo Levi Mitchell and the tiger kites winning 31 to 28 I gotta give my dog of the week to old bo Levi Mitchell for this week's CFL pick for my dog of the week solid Choice thank you sir you did you did as well you know with you talking about tan Jones in the way that you were described that before we even went on the air and now I was just thinking I was like man I can't I just can't do it I can't go with McLoud Beth Thompson plus I want to give another team some shine a team that like the Blue Bombers I threw some shade on the beginning of the year you look how they turn things around okay now we're seeing the terer kitties just not as between the four games and the eight teams who is your choice for snowflake of the week there Ryan McCarthy Jingle Bells Batman oh oh sorry although did there was a little bit of snow in uh in Alberta this week it's that getting cold again um so speaking of Alberta my snow my snowflake of the week is the Calgary dead horses defense dead this week no sacks no turnovers nearly 600 yards surrendered on offense to the Edmonton alcamos who a few weeks ago them who a few weeks ago themselves were not looking so P so uh so healthy and now kagar St Peter sitting last place tied for last place in the cfl's west division with a game in hand on the Edmonton El but they didn't show up on on the old labor dber they they they didn't show up they're shiny their their black uniforms which is traditionally worn on Labor Day you might as well just kept wearing might as well kept wearing black the entire game because your your defense was pretty much Dead all game long and it showed and it showed so M of the week the entire staff of the Calgary Stan Peters defense terrible that was absolutely great and I'm gonna actually keep this within the same team oh and uh shift to the offense oh because just as bad as the defense was the offensive line the the running back core they were all just as bad I mean you look at the the offensive line only allowing your running backs between three different running backs three of them eight carries 18 rushing yards on the day between three running backs but that's not even the worst of it all my snowflake of the week is going to go to their quarterback Jake Mayer Who did put up 297 passing yards congratulations they it don't mean any anything when you look at the fact that yeah you had a touchdown but you had not one not two not three but four interceptions on the day you're just giving them the game when you do that now this all goes back to the core of the problem they have had issues all season long remaining consistent with their offensive line and their offensive line has been inconsistent and it shows because you look at what their running game has produced throughout the majority of this season it's been very inconsistent and even when they were winning games I was talking about if they don't get this under control Cole and I were you know while we were waiting for you to to come back the past couple weeks you know with us on Total Football Talk Brian Cole and I were talking for several weeks about the the one thing that scares the living exploitive out of us is the offensive line and the running game because if you can't balance your load out by having a running game you don't have play action you don't have any pass you don't have other options to break down if you don't establish a great run that's the majority of the time there are other offenses that can get away with it by being Gunslingers and throwing 400 plus yards per game and get away with it but it it's not your average case as much as football is evolved in National Football League usfl XFL now UFL and the other leagues have tried to make it in the past where there's been marketing and viewership that did them in the the regardless of all that Arena Football everything you have to have a decent balanced running attack to mix up your plays it's great to have a gunslinger but if you don't have some kind of running attack getting three to four yards per carry on average it is very hard to remain consistent greatness out there on the field and the Calgary Stan Peters have been very very very lack cluster this year because they have had no running attack and their quarterback has too much pressure and he's throwing several interceptions consistently he's throwing more interceptions consistently than they are actually having a balanced running attack and for that I'm giving this one this week to Jake mayor solid Choice can't argue with that thank you sir you know we you as well you know we stuck with in the same organization so hey Calgary like we lit up the Blue Bombers like we lit up the tiger kitties maybe like we've lit up some other teams on Total Football Talk for now 53 consecutive weeks by who just got that win in the past week that we were talking about who are three and N going into the week 14 by we got to talk about tonight's game Friday night September 6 7:30 p.m eastern time as the BC Lions who you know improved their record this past weekend to six and six travel to Montreal to take on the alets who are 10 and one looking at this game right here what are your thoughts who wins and why there Ryan let ask you this there Mr will Mr willing him ask you a question the Socratic method here is this a possible gray cup preview I mean to before I answer that because I still don't know how long until we have to wait for Vernon Adams junor to come back that's a great question because that I don't I don't feel comfortable with saying that acknowledging that without having vernam Adams Jr there if he was there I would acknowledge me I would acknowledge that but I can't acknowledge that without knowing that to be the case because did they get a decisive win this past week but look at the type of team and the production that we were getting out of the red blacks in turn if you're getting that type of team against the AL West I can't sit here with confidence to tell you that I believe that this could be a match that could even get the Lions to the gray cup to face the alets so it's tough right now I would have to say no with with not knowing what's going on with Veron Adams Jr at this moment it's fair it's fair I'm just kind of curious to see which BC Lions team shows up in Montreal because again you I mentioned a couple seconds before they travel to Ottawa come back home to BC another they're traveling to Montreal that's two cross country trips in the span of three weeks that's going to take in toll on you physically but also wondering if Montreal can get off to a fast start after especially after a bye and with Cody Fardo coming back in game two weeks ago against the elos had his struggles coming back from the from a stin on the injured list but Montreal their defense is so good they're so aggressive and it's William stanback's return to Montreal after he left Montreal in in free agency to go to the BC Lions it's I it's not going I'm not gonna say it's a tossup it's gonna be a very close Affair close game but I've got Montreal having the advantage of having an extra week to rest and having Cody back in the lineup to get com get comfortable again with his receivers they got to find a running game though they got to find a bit of a running game to to to establish themselves on offense get get a little balance but on defense they're just so so aggressive with n Thorp and his system they're just going to come at you and they got also in addition to guys coming at you every single every single passing down you got ballhawks in the secondary who can pick the ball off and play really really tight coverage so I'm gonna say I'm I'm gonna go with Montreal on this one it'll be a very close matchup I think uh Montreal the thing with Montreal and their 10 wins not every single one of these games has been a blowout unlike last year when Toronto was on the Cobra Kai Tour all the way up until the East final when they got smacked in the mouth by D Dy lusso style against the Montreal aletes uh th this team Montreal alett team they they have close game they play close games they've had to come back in a couple of games so I think this might be another one of those games where it's just a really tight Affair between two good teams one on kind of the upswing one coming back from a week off but I'm going to take the aletes in this one be a very close game I like it I like your your thought process on that and that's what I'm going to give you this oh my brother Testify the alets are 10 and one for a reason and they have not shown any signs of slowing down at least when it comes to the way the the scoreboard is the end of the game you know at the end they had been serving some big fat juicy to the point that if we bet against them it's like they hired the rock to tell us this you should know your roll and shut your mouth and that's why until they show us otherwise I'm going with the alets in this game uh I think that they will give him a little bit of a of you know of a contest a little bit of competition in this game just like ran said I just I would be going a little bit more on that side or leaning more to that side if Vernon Adams Jr was in this game and was healthy uh if if this was the Vernon Adams Jr we got the first four to six weeks of the Season you best believe I probably would be picking the BC Lions in this game and you know we've been in that position before but now they're on the road to the alets and you don't have Vernon ads Jr so I can't even come close to picking them even though I like what I saw this past week the red blacks have been playing very very you know good overall which is why they've been in the conversation but they fell on their face and because they fell on the face the way that they did I don't see the aletes doing that against the BC Lions two weeks in a row so for that I'm going to say that the the winning team and continues to be the winning team is the one and only Montreal L hey hey who's giving them the business now with our next game on the Slate you know we've looked at Friday's game and I forgot to click the button but I'll make up for it by clicking on this one and I have to because we have three Saturday games this week you know the NFL is back and CFL can only compete but with so much and they already got a game going live tonight against the game of Brazil between the Packers and the Eagles so looking at this the way that it is is we've got three Saturday games we got one at 1:00 p.m. eastern time the Toronto Argonauts who were six and five traveled Ottawa to take on the red blacks who were 73 and one 1:00 pm. eastern time tomorrow who wins and why they're Ryan oh this is a toss up for me Toronto has played better with Chad Kelly they've played better offensively with Chad Kelly as their quarterback um the two-headed monster of Nick Arbuckle and Cameron Dukes was I wouldn't say it was a failure but it was a it was night and it was night and day compared to what Chad Kelly has done that being said the iwa red blacks are they're almost perfect at home I I believe they're perfect at home I believe they're perfect at TD place in Ottawa and I think they're gonna bounce back pretty they're gonna bounce back in this game last week was just such a trash fire of a game a dumpster they play like a bunch of dumpster against on both sides of the ball 31 to n the half or 31 to six at the half come on guys you're better they're a better team than this there he is I see Drew brown right there and I see uh See Another defensive back getting burned by the there is there another defensive back getting burned by the BC BC Lions receiving core I I think they clean it up this game I think Bob dice's team Bob dice's team I I think uh he's going to clean things up on both sides of the ball and just establish who they are at home at TD place I'm going to go with uh g go with the red blacks in this one you know with what Toronto's done as of late um you know they they've been they've been fighting and calling their way in games keeping them close even when they've been losing but at the same time they've been losing to teams that are lesser than like the the Tiger Cats who they've been letting get on a rooll in other teams as well I I can't disagree with you here I'm gonna have to go with your choice here and the red blacks I just can't disagree with anything you just said hey heyy who's giving them the business to make up for Friday let's run it back one more time the next Saturday game that we have is at 4:00 p.m eastern time as the sasat rers and if they lose this week I would not say it like that again next week I promise this is Catch and Rough Riders are five six and one traveling to Winnipeg to take on a team that has been hot a team that they just faced this week in a team that was just the game of the week but historically throughout the total Football Talk CFL season coverage whenever we've had two teams face each other and it's the game of the week and they play each other the following week it is not the game of the week and not by choice just because of the results that happened I guess because one team has seen enough of the other to know what to do whether that the team that lost and came back and won the next game or the team that went back to back times against the same team we have not had that choice in game of the week this season for that because of the fact that you know it's not the same type of game we're watching the second consecutive week so I'm going to go on a whim now and just go ahead and say before I go to you I have a feeling this is not going to be the game of the week next week as they're going to be in Winnipeg this time now Winnipeg got to a 500 record with this win this past weekend now at 6 and 6 and they are at home 4:00 p.m. eastern time tomorrow taking on the Ruff Riders who wins this game and why they're Ryan so if the Ruff rers lose this game can we call them Saskatchewan smooth Riders I guess we might have to come up with a new nickname so um I guess if if we're going to be like making a bet on it I would say I wouldn't say it's a bet all right right but I'm looking at the history of the ban Joe bow which was coined in 2004 uh by the by play kicker Troy Westwood played for the winnen peg Blue Bombers the last four banjo Advantage this past week but something is telling me to pick the rough runs so I can say it one more time and I want to say it like this next week I don't want to lose faith if they fall to 5 seven front of it's gonna be at Edmonton this week Edmonton's got a lot of momentum coming into this game great Beatdown on the on the in the labor Deber game they're bidding for the gr Cup in 2026 it was also announced that they're going to get $250 million Canadian money in renovations at Commonwealth Stadium so with everything that's going on over the last month in Edmonton new ownership now private ownership mind you this was a publicly owned team for pretty much an entire history now they're public now they're privately owned you've got a team that's coming together under under interim head coach jerus Jackson I'm praying I'm hoping in praying if they keep this momentum going that interim tag will be taken off of the head coach will'll be just a straight up head coach you got running game the offense is getting it together the defense is getting it together and now they've got fresh meat in front of them with Logan boner starting this week for for the Calgary dead horses give me the alcamos again last week I picked the Alamos and my upset special actually had two upset specials last week I had the tiger kitties turning into the Battle Cats an upending toron this week last week I had the ELC beating Calgary take give me give me the elos once again they're going to win this game going away okay well that's that's a that's an interesting pick with the El I mean you have stood firm with them and I can't disagree based on what we saw from the Calgary St Peters this past week yeah yeah come on what we watched this past week and from previous weeks his come on pull it up Charles that's terrible they're going to take the St Peters are going to take that big [Laughter] fat now that is absurd or is it it's not absurd for us to say it it's absurd for them to produce it for us to watch especially when you got to think of the fact that you got to take out your starting quarterback after throwing four interceptions this past week and put in somebody else who is honestly to me unproven at this point and when you look at the offensive line the the four interceptions is one thing this I talked about it earlier in the snowflake of the week but if your offensive line continues to play to the standard of what they have been throughout this season to where you can't establish the Run you're not going to get much better quality out of your quarterback unless he's just a lot better at turning the at not turning the ball over can get the ball out of his hands a little bit quicker and in a positive way so if that doesn't happen for this quarterback change here I'm I'm not sold on it I'm not sold on it whatsoever the elos have been proving themselves over the past month to be better than the way they were the first two months of the season so I'm going with them I'm going to go with Ryan here this is the one we are not going to disagree on when it comes to our picks for this week in what we see because because this could potentially be because earlier I didn't get a chance to click it during the first game that we reviewed but I made up for it there now with all that being said who's giving them the business let's take a look at some of the comments that we have here looks like Ike was with us for these picks said the aletes are going to win in his opinion the red blacks are going to win in his opinion and the Rough Riders are going to win in his opinion but I guess he didn't care enough about the last game we talked about to comment on that come on Ike his six says don't forget about the larger Endzone as well yes that's oh we already talked about that we already did talk about that yes we did so sick we don't know where you're at but chop Jump On In on these comments oh he actually just said something he was typing it up as we were saying speaking of absurd the NFL having a game in AR in AR in Arena Corinthians AKA Neo whima Arena reflects the ignorance of the NFL front office towards local sports history in Brazil so basically the team that's the stadi that's hosting tonight's game which is going on in roughly about an hour and 15 minutes or so as we as we were the the Corinthians team um I guess their Rivals were their rival team there a soccer team down there it's a local soccer team in sou Pao their Rivals wear green so two teams are wearing green but I guess the the Eagles decided to wear they're to have the white uniforms but with black lettering and black helmets I don't know what's going to happen with the Green Bay Packers if they're going to flip things around maybe for this game but this is the first game in this is the first NFL game in Brazil ever in South America ever so maybe they didn't have an idea of of rivalries in Brazil this is a completely different sport so it yeah I I can't speak to the ignorance of the NFL front office maybe they just didn't they didn't do their B they didn't do their their due diligence and in in the research and researching I think they just chasing the money I'll would be more chasing the money I would actually be more concerned about the fact that and I'm don't mean to get political here that the Supreme Court in Brazil shut down X so if I'm in Brazil right now I can't po I can't post this live stream to X because X is banned so I would go more with that than the NFL not doing their due diligence and researching uniforms and and team colors for uh local rivalries he also says the ban on green reflects reflects oh wellow it was a little bit of delay in there the ban on green reflects Corinthians rivalry with palus pales pal yeah palz who anywhere in professional sports of football or just anything within media in general as well and speaking of that Brian you know it's the understanding of myself that you have a little bit of breaking eight remaining teams from last year's Arena Football League that they're going to break away and form a brand new league called Arena Football one and and one and one exactly this is actually a really smart idea and I'll tell you why so if you didn't pay attention to last year's arena football season it was a exploitive mess from the outset they had 16 teams uh to start the season then it dwindled down to 12 then 11 then 10 then nine and eventually they went up with eight in the beginning of the season the commissioner in the league was nowhere to be found players were trying to get hotel rooms or getting kicked out of their hotel rooms build conditions were a mess in their respective Arenas teams aren't paying their players what the bleep is going on and the and the fact is commissioner who's brought in to S to basically start up this league nowhere to be found eventually he was kicked out of the league and replaced with former Tennessee Titans and Los Angeles Rams Head Coach Jeff Fischer who took the to who took the interim tag of commissioner the rest of the season everything everything was nailed down everything was perfect they also brought in J they also brought in former arena football commissioner Jerry Kur to be their CEO be CEO of the league so you commissioner you got CEO you got one guy handling player Personnel stuff you got one other guy handling the business side of things and the fact that the eight teams who remaining broke away started the new league brilliant move because it just basically gets the stink the stench from everything that happened last year off of them and now they're in a new league and they they are starting in 2025 and at the press release right here from af1 has a bunch of codes from the commissioner from the couple owners and they're also going to bring in some new teams for 2025 so we could see this we could see The Return of the of the Philadelphia Soul we could see The Return of the West Texas uh warbirds we could see a team in Chicago we could see a team in Arizona like they're supposed to have this past year so yeah good on the last remaining eight teams of the Arena Football League breaking away becoming af1 and one and I'm excited to see what happens for next year because the last half of the year was much better than the first half of the Year everything gets nailed down Jeff fiser doing a great job getting some stabilization Jerry kurs same thing but full credit to them I'm excited for 2025 and I'm hoping the all the Albany Firebirds will get their Revenge on the Billings Outlaws and win a title next year in the first ever Arena Arena Football one Championship I don't know what it's gonna be called it could be called Arena Bowl could be called a completely different game regardless things are looking bright and I'm excited to see what happens next year especially with the Alban Firebirds so there's a b breaking news and that's my that's my postgame closing Edition where the three of us would be up here talking you know about football whether it's NFL CFL UFL or college football primarily the extra Edition as I'll call it is going to be featuring everything outside of the NFL so maybe once CFL ends we can start talking about college football as by the time CFL ends the college football is really Heating up getting closer towards playoffs and rankings and the Heisman Trophy Chase and you know I've got some other people in here like Ryan or and others who have knowledge of football outside of the NFL or the CFL or even the newly formed UFL this year it's going to be interesting to see how things play out between now and the gray cup for CFL and then what type of other developments we have in football outside of the NFL with all of that going on um you know again Total Football Talk extra where it's all football some Shenanigans and a little bit of other things sprinkled in between based on the comments from the fans as this is another show that we plan on doing live if for some reason we're not live and we have to pre-record it and it comes out a little bit later it's not that big of a deal there is no pressure for us right now to have this at a specific time each and every week of course we would like to do that to be in a routine but you know if there's a day where Ryan can't get up until 7:30 and I'm available to do that we'll work around it we'll do it later and have it later in the evening as tonight's going to be a very rare time where we have NFL on a Friday it's only because of this Brazil game okay so we'll see how it goes I basically just wanted to take this time to let you know that when it comes to Total Football Talk extra we're kind of feeling it out you know during the CFL season and as long as Ryan's available this will be the the guaranteed time on Fridays as of now but it is subject to change so for those of you who are used to seeing it at this time for the next three weeks four weeks
