2/19 Practice: Marc Staal

mark it looked like um John Midway through the practice kind of challenged you guys a little bit um you've been around him a long time uh can you maybe take us into what that is like and is that just the coach trying to get you guys going a little bit yeah I mean it's just more of paying attention to to what we what made us what has made us successful I think we've got away from it a little bit as far as what we're doing away from the puck uh and then you know it's all connected so I mean I it starts with thir work ethic away from the puck and just reminding us that's who we are and where we need to be better and then rest of our game will fall as Su can he be someone that will do that you know down the stretch when you know these games get more and more important well it's it's just going to get harder I mean there no question in the next 37 games or whatever it is uh the hardest hardest stretch in the season and to to get wins and to get points and um so um I mean yeah we've had a a high standard of competing and and discipline throughout the year but now it becomes even more Amplified and we got to be better than you know we last game and uh and and keep pushing here mentioned about what makes this team successful is what makes this team successful a little different maybe than other teams you've been on in your career uh I mean every team preaches uh you know playing sound defense and and and and um doing the right things with the puck uh all that kind of stuff I think um we need everybody in this room at all times to play that way and and and to be able to create offense that way and um so it's not really any different than any other team I think um you know we've um we've got a talented enough group in here to um to put Pucks in the net like we've shown and um just got to make sure that we're St to our identity and and and what has made made us so good so far I'm not asking for specifics or anything of what he said but was was John not super happy with the first part of practice or was it more about no wasn't was just more about team team game yeah Team game yeah just looking at the schedule I mean there's not a lot of days like today left where you've got a break in the schedule what what do days like this be for you guys in terms of uh the work that you do that you can't do on a a typical day between two games or something yeah I mean you get to practice certain things that maybe you're locking in and and and you're not able to practice like you said so um and you get a good skate get you know get get a lot of touches in the pocket and all that kind of stuff where you don't really get to do when you're playing every other every other day so um it's good especially after you know the outdoor game it's kind of a big event now we all it's kind of a day to just to get some work in exhale and then kind of get refocused on on the stretch here
