what's happening sports fans I am Kendrick the sports guy with your sports report on Thursday and some sad news report out of Uganda Ugandan marathon runner Rebecca chipi who competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics has died from Burns 4 days after police say her ex-boyfriend poured gasoline on her and set her on fire the death of chap tg33 who was taken to moai teaching and referral Hospital in Elder keny with Burns over more than 80% of her body on Sunday was announced by the hospitals director and the Ugandan Athletics fed Federation excuse me now who was Rebecca chapti chapti who was born and raised in chimini Uganda had been training in trans naoi County in Western Kenya she had purchased and developed land there in Koro Kenya to make it easier and less costly to train in Kenya the Kenya newspaper the standard reported chip TG made her Olympic debut again at the Paris Olympics finishing number 44 in the women's marathon she began her career in 2010 and competed in 1500 meters the 10,000 MERS half marathons and marathons she represented Uganda in the 2011 and 2013 World cross Championship so again sad news will report out of Kenya nowc reports are that this suspect was her ex-boyfriend and uh Rebecca chipi also had two children now it it is unknown if this was this ex-boyfriend was the father of her two children uh but again a domestic violence case and some reports are saying that uh they heard the couple someone that lived nearby they heard the couple arguing out in the front yard about uh some issues about land uh again that is corly to report so again what a tragic story to report today uh Olympic marathoner Rebecca chapi has died at the age of 33 uh we're sending our condolences out to her family uh to the Ugandan uh Olympic family and all those that knew uh this young lady I am Kendrick the sports guy we will see you on the other side and on the next report I am out peace
