hey everybody Andrew here with Nashville severe weather again part three uh we have storms coming down out of Montgomery County that will be affecting Davidson and Williamson counties here shortly and the weather service has decided to go ahead and extend the severe thunderstorm warning that is currently in Montgomery and chetam counties into Davidson County and so that warning will pop up whenever they issue it here shortly but we're jumping on here a little bit early because we that's coming and so we're going to be looking at a severe thunderstorm warning here coming soon let's talk about why uh we've got pretty strong winds now that are coming through uh into chetam County 67 mil per hour so 65 to 70 mph winds possible there and there's your new warning uh new severe thunderstorm warning that covers about half of Davidson County and the Northwestern sides of Williamson County so uh so Davidson and Williamson included in this new severe thunderstorm warning and this is in effect until 10:30 tonight and this is going to be for strong damaging StraightLine winds that are coming through chetam County right now somewhere on the order of 60 to 70 miles per hour uh that's entirely possible with this line and you can see here the polygons are flashing on this radar which uh means that could have some considerable damage with this as it comes into Davidson County so particularly the West sides of Davidson County from Belleview over into Pam and sheum County up toward Bells Bend and up toward Marone Lake and Beaman Park and even down toward Fairview so we could have some strong damaging StraightLine winds so how do you prepare for this you need to be inside a sturdy structure uh if you're driving around or know somebody that's driving around really not a good idea these storms coming through particularly because this area of Western Davidson County and Western Williamson County there's a lot of trees out in these this part of town this part of the counties so uh trees coming down is a pretty good possibility with this if you get 60 to 70 miles per hour 70 m per hour winds trees are going to come down so uh if it happens to be the one you're driving under that's no good and uh that usually doesn't turn out well so please don't be driving uh if uh if you're going to be out in this area as uh as these storms come in so the storms are now currently coming into chetam County and uh we see here the the the severe thunderstorm warning polygons this is in effect until uh uh 10:30 tonight so let's do some etas here let's do these right here and this is for the kind of the strong part of the storm here and 1026 or so remember these are rough etas 1028 for Riverwalk I40 and Charlotte around 10:30 1035 Belleview around 10:35 West me and bellme around 1040 and and uh the Otter Creek and Franklin Boston area is 1045 to 1050 and then moving on over to McKay's Mill about 11 o'clock so if this holds together and comes down through Franklin and the West sides of Davidson County and Central Williamson County those are some etas for you coming into Williamson County about 10:30 getting to Franklin about 1050 not currently in the sever thunderstorm warning there but that could be extended just trying to give you some heads up uh as the storm moves to the southeast let's go back to tbna radar and um uh the other guys on here we got will and Graham and David and as they see things coming in too they can jump in and and add to what we're saying here uh don't certainly don't want to miss anything but uh what National Weather Service says that these high winds are heading for Ashland City Kingston Springs and bellw and that's exactly what we see going on here so this bright blue area here around Pleasant View in cheum County this is the primary area of strong damaging straight line winds and if we turn the radar off here there's there's a lot of tre there it's going to be coming into an area of a lot of trees as it comes off the Highland Rim around ashin city and comes into Davidson County lots of trees and Forest out here and really a lot of trees could be affected so uh strong damaging StraightLine winds a possibility as this comes through chetam County and then Western Davidson County over the next 30 minutes to 45 minutes and the weather service says that both the Hopkinsville radar and the TBB and Radars continue to show a large area 60 to 70 mph winds from ashon City to Pleasant View moving Southeast they specify that wind damage is likely with this line of storms all right so let's go back to our uh our view here of radar kind of give you an idea of where this is you need to know where you are on a map so know if you're in Western Davidson County or if you're in Belleview uh let's kind of tour some areas of Davidson County just to let you know uh who's inside this warning we got baman Park up here got Scottsboro out there along Ashland City Highway there's Bordeaux you're included there in Bordeaux TSU downtown Nashville Vanderbilt out there around the 440 loop on the West Side I40 and Charlotte really all of I40 out west so you got Riverwalk bellme West me Belleview Pasco uh those of you you know that's who's included there in Davidson Cy so lots of trees out there again uh Williamson County Fair viiew you're included in this natur stce bridge area out there around fernvale and uh on up and down Temple Road area and Bell viw out that way so lot of wind coming in with this and that's who's included in this warning right now so let's go back let's show these etas one more time and these are some etas for this line as it comes in and Bell's B about 10:30 30 uh Belleview around 1036 West me 1037 you can see the other places there move it up out of our get out of our faces there Otter Creek Boston Franklin Sullivan Farms Thompson Station other areas they're included as it moves Southeast all right so uh so that's what we've got we've got a severe thunderstorm warning that is uh in effect we just have one we got that flash flood warning still in effect down in Southeastern Williamson County uh that expires around 11 it's still raining down there by the way where that flash flood warning was issued uh down in South Eastern Williamson County that's still ongoing so still uh still flash flooding possible there but the the really the main concern up here for the folks in Davidson county is going to be this area of strong damaging StraightLine winds and we still see that here on tbna radar this is a radar out of Nolanville shooting back to the Northwest has a great view of it so um uh will if you got a second will would you let us know uh what are we looking at for reports we've been really trying to get reports today and and those have really just recently kind of picked up tonight with some tree reports and that sort of thing what are you looking for with this and how do they get those into US yeah so I I'll answer the second part of that first that the easiest way to get them into US is by uh just using the hashtag T spotter on Instagram uh and on Twitter uh to get those over to us what we're looking for uh is anything that is related to that wind uh area that that you're showing on the radar right now right so uh trees tree limbs power lines uh damage to structures damage to roofs uh you know that's generally something that we see with wind like this any of that information is helpful um again you know use that hasht tpot that way we see it and can get it to the Weather Service that helps uh inform the decisions that they make Downstream right so as this big gust of wind is coming into Ashland City if somebody told me hey it you know um blew a tree down in my neighborhood or a bunch of tree limbs down we get that information in the weather service and they can make a more informed decision for the people in Nashville that are going to get that wind gust next yeah absolutely very important we get those reports the weather services watching those tonight but we also we just make sure that they get what they need to be getting and we just kind of help be another set of eyes there on that tees spotter feed so very helpful if you send those in to Tes spotter hash tpot on Twitter we'll get those over there and also Graham here is watching Instagram over there so uh Graham what do you what's the best way to get them to you is it any different there on Instagram yeah best way to get it to uh me on Instagram is just to uh send a direct message um with the uh any down Limbs and things like that that will said um but yeah just send us a direct message um the hashtag does not work on Instagram so you just go ahead and send it in a message and we'll get it over to the Weather Service cool all right thanks Graham so yeah um we're just kind of waiting as this comes in but really I can't emphasize enough that as it comes in if you're in the path of it so if you're in the bean Park area or Bell's Bend or Ash City Highway off on the northwest side of Davidson County uh Centennial Boulevard broy Parkway I'm trying to think some of these roads these areas out there west of uh downtown uh out to the chetam county line if you're if you're out that way you need to prepare yourself uh batting down the hatches do whatever you need to do to make sure that uh that that you can be all right during these uh these strong straight line winds uh they mean business according to radar and we're going to be watching for reports but we we fully expect to be getting some uh some reports of uh some StraightLine wind damage with this this is very textbook indicative of U of of strong damaging straight line winds um so that's what we're uh that's what we're watching so if you're just joining us several have actually just in the past couple of minutes I've noticed so uh what we're watching here specifically this is a big warning polygon anywhere inside this yellow warning polygon uh we could see strong damaging straight line winds where we are specifically seeing that on radar is up here just north of coming into Ashland City actually right along Highway 49 that goes up to Pleasant View and uh so from Ashland City to the north around Pleasant View is where we're seeing potentially 70 m per hour winds being indicated on radar there and uh that means business that's going to that's going to tear some stuff up if that's reaching the ground and so we're watching for that to move Southeast toward Western Davidson County and then uh really anywhere along the line and the the angle to the radar may not be great so we might not be seeing all of the velocities you know this could extend further south and we just don't see a good angle on it so really anywhere inside the polygon here we could be seeing this area of 60 to 70 m per hour winds just expect it and then if it doesn't happen great fantastic but uh but we we we may not be able to see as well on the southern end of this line um so anywhere inside the yellow polygon fully expect that you might get some strong damaging straight line wins but this this right here guys from Ashland City up to Pleasant View is very textbook of what we get this time of year around here where we get a lot of tree reports and a lot of power outage reports and in fact um you know one of the best things that you can do if you're in Davidson County I mean give your phone plug it in just give it a couple of percentage points extra on the battery if that's all you've got just in case uh you do lose power just uh you know have your phone plugged in and try to get just a little bit more charge on it if you can so that's uh some of the best advice we can give you uh as far as as that goes but uh but just be sure you're not near trees make sure you know if you know somebody driving if you've got a kid coming home or something driving around you know just try to mitigate any interactions with trees blowing down just just do whatever it is you need to do in your situation to to make sure everyone stays safe uh if trees are coming down and that kind of thing in this wind so it it definitely means means business should get an update from the Weather Service here in just a second last thing we heard from them was that uh they're still seeing this area of 60 to 70 m per hour winds that we were just noticing here moving Southeast and that they fully expect wind damage with this as well um and they're going to definitely be looking for reports on this so uh just like the guys said sending that to us # teotter then a direct message on Instagram is is a good way to get a hold of us uh let's go to over here to our regular more traditional radar here you know it's funny these things these storms here close to us don't look on radar quite as impressive on the precipitation as maybe the storms out east of us but the ones here are the ones producing the wind damage so that we can't totally just look at this and say oh the storms are worse out east of us uh you got to look at the velocities right here and get down in the storm and and look at Doppler radar and be able to tell that oh actually this thing uh is bad news and uh and and has straight line winds with it so so that's our primary concern even though it may not look uh you know super impressive here with a bunch of Reds and pink colors and all that stuff uh it still means business we have every reason to believe that it's that it's a dangerous storm all right even some more have joined us couple couple hundred more have joined us in the past two minutes or so so severe thunderstorm warning in effect for Western Davidson County it includes downtown Nashville and uh that it is in effect until 10:30 tonight so about another 20 minutes on this one and if things keep up I wouldn't doubt that they would uh even extend it a little further uh after you know crosses through this polygon this thing has really been picking up steam so uh they were watching this large area of 60 to 70 plus mile winds across much of Northern cheum County around ashin City the current storm motion will take these winds Across the Western half of Davidson County and the rest of cheetah and into Northwest Williamson County so you know we're just sort of watching the trajectory of this and if you put it in motion you just see these Blues kind of barreling down I24 this is as I24 special as they get and it's just coming right down I 24 into Western Davidson County Let's uh go back to our regular radar and sort of show let's go to the Nashville Radar here and yeah storms look a little more impressive on the Nashville Radar I was up on the Hopkinsville radar so a little bit more red color here um let's go look at velocities here on on the weather surface radar and yeah we can we can see they don't look as impressive here because they're at a bad angle to the radar so the radar is over here the winds are moving this way and they're kind of perpendicular to the radar the radar best reads wind speeds when it's hitting the wind right on and right here it's hitting it kind of a glancing blow it's perpendicular to the radar beam so it's a little bit tough for the radar to read from Old Hickory the uh the wind speeds in there so we watch tbna which has a totally different read on it and is shooting straight on at it and it's giving us a great idea of the wind speeds in there I want you to notice something look look at here up here in Davidson County how everything just kind of Swirls and the blues and greens just have uh they're just kind of moving around and all let me tell you there are all kinds of boundaries laid out all over the place from storms from uh this morning this afternoon this evening there are just boundaries all over the place and you can see them I mean there one just went to the Northeast right there another one came South across Percy Priest Lake and then you've got uh you've got another one here looks like it's U uh you know that's coming out of these storms in Williamson County it's dropping all these boundaries down here there are just there's little little mini fronts uh little uh just just uh just boundaries laid out everywhere and and these storms interact with those in different ways so um so these storms may evolve a little bit over the next 20 30 minutes we'll just have to they like atmospheric speed bumps that you out there yeah it's just uh I tell you it this sort of gives you this is kind of a high higher definition velocity uh velocity display and it just sort of gives you an idea the atmosphere is a fluid and it just is constantly moving especially on like today so um but it does this this does give us a great idea of the velocities here looks like even another boundary or two yeah look at this another one coming in from Portland OR Linda all right let's make this still still looking at some 68 70 mph winds the radar beam here is about 1,400 ft so it's it's up there but um I still would expect I mean we've we've seen a lot of radar images like this where there was widespread wind damage um we've seen some where there's not but uh but I think we've seen a volatile enough atmosphere today I really have no reason to believe that these aren't reaching the ground I'm pretty sure there's some strong wind out there so Andrew one thing to point out is um the amount of fuel there to power that storm that Andrew has the cursor on there over Ashlin city um is substantial it was uh it probably twice is what it normally is out here for a typical summer day um and that storm is going through and eating food that was is probably not available once you cross 65 into Nashville and into willson County um so my my main concern is that this is thing is going to come right into um West Nashville and take everybody's power out it could actually even end up inside the the 440 Loop so if you're like at Vanderbilt um you're over at TSU or at Fisk um silven Park White Bridge St Thomas Hospital Hillwood West me Eagle Ridge over to Belleview um I think it's pretty likely we're going to get a strong swath of straight line wins so I think if you haven't heard Andrew say it um you will a few more times but uh we need to uh make sure you charge your phones so you know what's going on because I think a lot of areas could lose power um if you're more in East Nashville or up in Englewood or Madison this storm isn't for you um you know you're going to still get a thunderstorm around or two but this strong area of winds that we're worried about um does is probably not going to get far into East Nashville if at all but if you're in East Nashville stay with us um especially if you're in Englewood which has I know that yall have already lost power at least once that I saw today um just make sure your phones are charged so you can get information and uh at least know what's going on around you so David thing to note about this thing is it definitely is hugging the right side of this warning polygon in fact the weather service is noting that uh it's it's even taking a little bit more of a of a path that might it might bring it over the edge of this warning polygon uh as it gets closer to Downtown Nashville so uh I agree with David I think I think downtown Nashville in particular uh may get some of the uh some of the BR of this thing if it continues sort of hugging the edge of this warning um so you know this is It's a densely populated area and a lot of trees and all that stuff so hopefully hopefully not too many power concerns but I'm afraid we might have to deal with that uh right through the heart of Davidson County if it continues like this so we'll just we'll have to we'll have to see um they are noting Weather Service is saying that the strongest winds are now Crossing uh Ashen City Highway in in Western Davidson County um and tbna still still showing um 70 m per hour winds so strong winds now coming into uh tell you what I'm going to get some uh traffic cameras pulled up and let's uh get ready to sort of watch this thing as we as we can um I'll have those kind of pulled up here as we get closer I'll have the Northwest uh probably Parkway area pulled up okay right let's go over to our traditional radar image here let's just just sort of get an idea of where the where the rain is uh other people are getting some storms and other parts so like over here around Madison and Lakewood and uh the old RiverGate Mall up there around Hendersonville um definitely some thunderstorms ongoing there around Goodletsville but non severe right now and then still some storms going on in Southeastern Williamson County right there where that flash flood warning is and be careful if you're driving out there around um around you know Nolanville Road going down to where it turns into Horton Highway and uh and down there where it goes to Lewisburg I mean not Lewisburg um Shelbyville the highway going to Shelbyville through Eagleville uh just just be be careful out there that that could be a lot of water out there they've had just pretty Relentless rain um so that's ongoing there but clearly the main story here is this uh this area of rain and thunderstorms that's coming through Western Davidson County now going back over to tbna still showing this area of very pronounced strong winds and uh let's see still showing winds 67 miles per hour there 66 miles per hour 67 so we're still looking 65 70 M wins um and that's coming into the Beaman Park area area now so it's come kind of little Marone Road Marone Lake Whit low Mountain Road Bull Run Road so it's going to be coming into Scottsboro real soon Scottsboro and then broy Parkway then the Bordeaux and hannes uh neighborhoods areas out there in Northwestern Davidson County or Northwest of downtown and uh so you guys are next so as David said just hey plug your phone in give it like you know five more minutes of charge if you could just in case and uh and and hopefully looks like power out in Madison now so had a lot of power outages today L lightning and some wind new warning coming out for Davidson and Williamson counties so we'll see that be issued here in just a second uh so new severe thunderstorm warning coming for Davidson and Williamson counties I would imagine in this would be including more of the heart of Davidson there it is right there so new sphere thunderstorm warning now for the heart of Davidson County uh includes downtown squarely East Nashville Englewood all the way up toward uh toward Madison and amq Donaldson Hermitage Antioch BNA Percy Priest Lake cev Hall bvw all the way down to Franklin and Nolanville as well so that's for this uh clearly this area of strong damaging winds that's coming through Western Davidson County now and uh we um uh let's see I'm looking at some comments here um somebody said somehow still have power in Ashland City so it must have been pretty rough out there uh in uh in ashin city so I'm just looking at some U some comments here to see if we can get some reports out of it okay um let's see here all right new SP thunderstorm warning this is going to be in effect until 11 o'clock so 40 minutes to go on this one and uh so it's right on top of Beaman park now now and uh hey if it I sever of y'all in the chat here on this stream and if any of y'all live in these areas uh up toward Bean park or even back there in chum County if you're watching from from cheum County uh Matt says uh Matt says he heard a lot of lot of branches falling in Ashland City but uh if you uh if you guys have any reports from out that way I'll I'll kind of try to be watching this chat here and see um see if see what we get there but uh I'm sure it's pretty gnarly out there in in Western Davidson County now uh Weather Service says here in their latest update uh with a more Eastward motion the core of the severe winds now look to move across downtown Nashville belme Bordeaux John tun and Bellevue all right so this is a little bit different than what we were talking about earlier we were thinking it might go down maybe toward bellw and into Fair View and Western Williamson County looks like now the core of this thing is going to go straight through the middle of Davidson County uh through downtown Nashville the 440 Loop out toward West me and Belleview out that way so um that changes it a little bit for those of you down there in downtown Nashville East Nashville Englewood uh Barry Hill creeve Hall Antioch and down toward Brentwood so all of you guys heads up uh do anything you can to to get some devices charged up just in case you lose power for a while and depending on how widespread this is sometimes it takes a little while to to to get things back from from that so um be prepared for a um maybe not an extended power outage I guess that's subjective but um see let me go here to let's go to our traffic cameras let me pull that up here I'm not showing much I won't pull it up here till it shows something that we can it's it's dark out there so it's hard to see so I'll wait till we can see a little bit better not many traffic cams up around Bean Park gota wait till Bry Park Way for that no power Katie says no power at Bean no power at Bean Park all right so we're watching this uh oh wow quite a few had joined us just here in the past couple of minutes all right so let's let's sort of give a overview of what we're watching uh the main thing we're watching here is this we we got a severe thunderstorm warning uh here that covers a good part of Davidson County we got some very strong winds it looks like coming down uh basically through Beaman Park and out around um alre Boulevard there on the west sides of uh Northwest sides of Nashville right around ashlon City Highway and as these Storms Come into Nashville could have some wind damage that uh that could be pretty gnarly as far as this is a kind of a trees and power lines kind of event and trees are are notoriously bad for cars so if you um know anybody that's driving out there this is coming into an area in Western Davidson County that just has a lot of big trees and uh I really really would would love to to not hear about uh about any tree issues out here with cars and that sort of thing um so please be safe and try to be away from the trees in case they come down uh somebody's asking for Casey's asking for etas uh I have no idea where uh you are Casey but this is coming into Western Davidson County and the the warning is in effect until 11:00 so this storm will progress across Davidson County and parts of Williamson between now and 11 so depending on where you are uh it'll be in downtown Nashville here shortly fact it looks like it's uh Crossing uh where our uh the traffic camera I was looking at is so let's see uh see if we can see anything there and not really so just a bunch of bunch of lightning let me see if I can find one that where we can see trees a little bit better we're swaying pretty good here at Bry Parkway south of Ashland City uh this is a t DOT camera here at broy Parkway lot of lightning out there but it's swaying pretty good so um see if we can uh see if we're in the best place to capture what's going on yeah looks looks pretty strong out there looks like we've had some power outages out there because some of the cameras are are down Andrew I uh launched up a video of some lightning strikes from our drone uh that I sent up a little while ago and some of them give a pretty good picture of what storm structure looks like for that Bells Bend cell okay uh let's see here there we go here is uh this is from drone Force One looking back toward that storm so watching here on radar uh this this area of strong winds looks like it has um sort of fanned out just a little bit it's not as concentrated as it was and hopefully event not as intense so here is um here's the current radar picture the latest radar image and you can see back that when it came in it was a very concentrated area here of the bright blues and that has weakened quite a bit uh minute by minute as it's come in part of that is the radar beam is going to be a little bit lower and so as we're sampling closer to the ground and um in fact I'm just looking over here the weather Services noting that the winds are weakening on the most recent scans but still widespread 50 to 60 m per hour winds across Western Davidson County so yeah good point there uh not a point to let our guard down but we are noting that uh winds seem to be decreasing a little bit you know down from 70 to 60 50 to 60 this is awkward silence I had to break it up um I was just looking I'm over here on Twitter um I think that it would make the most sense for this storm to continue go to go down this weakening Trend because it is running into all of those outflow boundaries that have just been sitting there that Andrew was talking about 10 minutes ago and secondly this area on the other side of I65 uh meaning the the airport side um has a lot less instability to feed this line um so I expect that the trend would be on the positive side which would to say that it was that the storm's weakening ever so slightly that said that's still anytime you see the little blue tints on the radar that we've got I that's evidence of uh severe winds and right now just looking at it it looks like it's coming towards TSU right about now um Fisk as well um y'all should be getting uh the worst of the wins right now and yeah TSU Fisk silven Park and it should get into downtown but it looks like um it's a much weaker than it was Kash Andrew even five minutes ago looks like it's really come down um as it enters probably more stable air um from I think that's right we had that sort of Eastward to Westward um movement of that outflow boundary earlier and it just sort of kind of It kind of cuts the legs out from under storms that that get going here's some you can see the strong winds here wind picking up here right around TSU this is right around Jefferson Street and on I40 you kind of check out the street light there you kind of see the wind blow across it so the wind's pretty good there I mean hard to tell at night but I can see the trees blowing see if you can pull up 440 East of I40 it's uh camera 63 there's there's a spike in winds right there right now y right there right here so you'll see some trees in the foreground here okay just a second ago where whipping pretty good yeah wow yeah it is I mean tbna has a great read on it still I mean it's in the perfect placement to get read by tbna yeah tbna is the only radar we should be using yeah exactly yeah and it's just it just but but yeah still some strong wins there I mean still showing some 57 M hour winds right there around TSU uh even back around the Nations yeah I need to send another tweet out and it maybe that Franklin will be too far south I think to get the worst of these um but I'm gonna put a ETA map up here another another good piece of wind is coming just north of downtown as well into that Skyline area yep um yeah right in there on uh on ohx radar uh see it's Onna so so that's where yeah uh just south the skyline close to where 24 splits off off 65y big ons here according to TV yeah that's blowing pretty hard here this is right at the uh 40 440 inter interchange here um right around TSU there's a sort of a spike on on radar here see that blue right there that's right camera's right under this blue so you see those those blowing rain curtains there on the inter state to the lights it's a lot of water see I'm gonna ah here we go we're just multitasking here all right so uh let's let's speak a little bit to those of you that are out ahead of this thing um severe thunderstorm warning continues till 11:00 and that is for this uh this this area of strong wind that we see on the camera right now so what you see on the camera here is pretty well what to expect it's going to blow pretty hard you see that water being blown in the in the the blowing curtains of rain there so looks like 40 to 50 could even be 60 in there somewhere uh mile per hour winds and that's moving southe across Nashville so across most of Nashville so Forest Hills BME West me Vanderbilt Barry Hill creev Hall Brentwood all the way up into downtown Nashville and Beyond up to the north and uh and this is just kind of what to expect what you see here uh so this looks like looks like what we will be getting with this as it comes through so the some of the most intense radar imagery is right where this camera is right now uh so it's good to be able to have a view of it uh as it comes in what to expect well this is a pretty huge relief I think that if the line had kept the radar presentation at the lower levels that it had up in ashon City we' probably be looking at significant power outages across the city yeah um so this is you know obviously this is not great I'd rather not have big winds come through but we do need the rain and as long as we can get through this without anybody getting hurt or nothing getting messed up we'll be doing all right yeah um yeah the Weather Service notes here that they did they Shrunk the size of the warning just a little bit to to kind of Shore that up and then um they note that the uh they've lowered it down from expecting 70 m per hour winds to 60 m per hour winds that's a good sign uh um but they say the storm is likely weakening due to uh as David said just a minute ago running into an air mass kind of worked over by the storms earlier so uh that that's likely working in our favor here so um so that's good thing that's a good thing this is a good scenario for for us as long as no one gets hurt um it's a it's a much better radar presentation now than it was let's go check out some other areas of town this is the Midtown Loop Heavy Rain there why have we never done this split screen before uh probably because of your desk Green Hills is getting wed yeah strongest strongest winds now on radar appear to be right around Green Hills lipam University uh Woodmont Boulevard Woodmont Boulevard can be a a magnet for severe weather it seems occasionally uh flood advisory now for Davidson County so new flood advisory for cheum Davidson SAR Wilson uh sounds like a pretty big uh polygon there for flood advisory and that's going to be for this heavy rain that's falling let me pull that up I can show that to you see that pop up here in just a minute let me pull this over here for us so um could be could be a little hard to hard to see let me get out of this so here's this uh this green polygon here in chetam County it comes down toward Belleview and back up covers really most of Davidson County most of Davidson County here included in this uh flood advisory and uh this is going to be in effect um until 1:45 in the morning so this is once again this uh kind of minor flooding and low line poor drainage areas so we've uh had some heavy rain here and it's not the first round of heavy rain we've had in this area so so if you're around Ashlin City Nashville Madison Hendersonville brenwood Mount Juliet gitv Forest Hills oakill Cooper Town bellme Kingston Springs Lakewood Pam really anywhere in the Davidson County and surrounding areas um uh Heavy Rain there so that's uh that's that flood advisory there for Davidson County most of Davidson County all right I think we've had some more power outages Bunch these cameras aren't working now each new scan seems a little better and better yeah yeah this is encouraging so this is down here I65 South of Armory let's go a little bit further north let's go toward Wedgewood this is a yeah this is Armory drive as well so should be seeing some um relatively impressive winds there and I'm really not seeing some blow in the lights but all in all I think this is a pretty good sign Weather Service says that uh the storm here in Nashville continues to gradually weaken they're going to keep the warning going for now uh but the winds for the most part now look sub severe uh so that's good so it takes about a technically 58 but 58 60 m per hour winds to be considered severe but a 40 mph wind can bring a tree down so just because it brought a tree down doesn't mean it was necessarily severe uh so we still have to be on guard even in sub severe winds for trees coming down and that kind of thing but really 50 58 60 m per hour winds are what it takes to be considered a severe wind and it just doesn't look like this storms producing that anymore but uh like we said uh it still could bring down pretty big branches and that kind of thing which could still fall on power lines and that kind of thing so you know power outage is still a possibility and in fact Sam just says he just lost power here uh they're East off Trinity so you know it's uh still definitely capable of that whether it because of lightning or because of uh strong winds bringing something down on the lines so that's uh that's all possible still even if the winds are sub severe so but it definitely looks like it's starting to relax um David could you talk to the topic of the possibility of additional storms later what's our what's our forecast for tonight oh that would be a fun little project to do yeah I figured that's something I know you'd like to do so um check that out for us I will I was just about to send a tweet that was encouraging but I had to restart my browser and that was fun um still Breezy there on U around Armory Drive I65 in Armory you can still see you see the wind blowing pretty good the lights there yeah but I mean there's no instability there anymore to feed that storm there's nothing to keep it going it's definitely that is definitely weaker than what we saw earlier uh this looks more like a garden variety storm at this point yeah I don't think it's just a matter of the beam overshooting the the winds earlier or undershooting them but um I think this thing just legitimately come down oh yeah I do too absolutely the lightning activity I can tell is backed off a little bit uh um let's see all right so the question is are we going to have more storms and the answer to that is well it depends on what happens up in the northwest of us up in the Northern Plains where storms are all these storms are pretty much starting from waves up there and then they slide down an invisible slide through Iowa and Illinois k into us um that's why we call these the I24 special because they seem to follow the direction of I24 um and that's what these storms tonight are doing they seem to come in from the the Northwest and that pattern is remaining in place here for the next uh at least 36 hours that I saw um the next storm is going to come down the slide early tomorrow afternoon and according to the models looks like it's going to be an East Tennessee problem not a middle Tennessee problem but um as Andrew said in one of our streams today the models have been pretty bad and I think that could be off by a little bit so I would say it would be like late tomorrow night before we had the next legitimate concern for a storm um so yeah uh there's that one and then oh by the way to finish the thought there was another line uh coming down the slide from Indiana Illinois on Thursday afternoon um congealing into a massive line uh that would set up Friday morning or late Thursday night so yeah we got a couple more rounds of storms GNA have to have to dodge here um y'all um but other than that um this is a relief uh that line coming through at 70 to 75 miles an hour would have been real problem a real problem for a lot of people um especially a lot of people unequipped to deal with it um in this heat and humidity um last thing you want to have is to to you know lose your power but it's not so much that inconvenient which it obviously is and it's super frustrating to get out your your routine but I mean if you only got one air conditioner in the house that's tough um so yeah just thankful those winds weren't that strong Weather Service is continuing to acknowledge that this thing is falling apart and um as far as the winds go so they are going to let the warning expire at the top of the hour and uh so they're pretty confident this thing's not going to get its act together again and they don't plan on reissuing the warning at the moment so uh I think that sounds that sounds a sounds great and B looks accurate to me so um yeah I think uh I think we're about done with this thing um Amy's asking if there's an updated radar so to answer that question I'll say the one you see on the screen here is the most up to date now you might be thinking of this which is is um sort of the more traditional view of radar this is the latest view of that and um you have areas like oill Cane Ridge Franklin no lville listed here storms are moving uh they've crossed 65 up in Davidson County coming down 24 toward Antioch and then in Williamson County they've come through fair viiew so Franklin is next brenwood and Nolanville um but winds appear to have come down with the storm and not as as um big of a deal now uh still wild in Green Hills Rusty says um so this is the most up to date now if if you guys want uh just anytime there is a free free radar available over at Nashville sever weather.com radar I think let me double check that is that the right URL I think so um we try to keep those pretty simple I think that's what I named that thing like God knows how long ago that was yeah so here's uh here's Nashville sever weather.com radar so you can uh you can go there this is available anytime and it has a couple of views there for you a wide view and a more of a Metro View and refreshes every minute and um that's there for you anytime you want so if you need an up toate radar that one's also available for you [Music] um bunch of people have gone to bed David we've lost about 3,000 people here so hopefully that's not because their power went out I've been poo pooing the storms um over there I mean frankly if I could get to bed 20 minutes earlier yeah even better so if we can do that for y'all um fantastic yeah definitely definitely safe to definitely safe to go to bed now yeah I mean I'm only seeing on tbna 45 miles hour at 340 ft so yeah I mean we're probably getting those winds are going to come across 24 and end up in rural Hill um not much longer uh from now make Kane Ridge is g to feel it here in a sec um and I have no doubt that there's going to be pockets of pretty strong wins here I wouldn't be surprised if like little small limbs that are in your tree that end up in your yard um that it becomes one of these storms um but especially if you got a tree ready to go it doesn't take much to send it over I know Brent and I'm gonna hold him to this Brent Brent you you got it man we got proof right here I'll tell you what it is raining here it's coming down it's nice to know that the radar verifies it is refreshing I remember when I learned how to to read um Back in the Day storm relative velocity was kind of the cool thing to to be using and uh I used to just run outside and see if I could feel the wind shift right when it came over and a couple times I guess I talked myself into thinking it had and I was like wow this there really is something of the science stuff uh if you just take the time to learn it um anyway all that to say I think one of the coolest ready for bed I think one of the coolest wind shifts I've ever felt was when uh this was probably well we were in our other house so that's been at least since uh it was before 2019 but we had one of these kind of cold nights had an Arctic had an arctic front come through and uh on one of these winter nights and it was one of those nights where where it was like I don't know 50° outside and within within 15 seconds it dropped down into like the the 30s and 40s and it was fascinating it was absolutely fascin call a blue Norther well in Texas they do we live down there yeah they called that called it that in Texas uh new special weather statement here for sorry I sorry I need turn it off yes when we get a severe weather warning I get Pac-Man guys that's what that was um some people have the woo or the beep beep or whatever no Miss and I I don't I think it might be Mrs Pacman but it's not um because Mrs Pac-Man is a far superior game to Pac-Man and I'll fight anybody who says otherwise but whenever I hear David's Pac-Man on always check my my warning feed because I know something's happened so what they've done here they've elected as the uh the storms move Southeast toward Nolanville and toward Franklin and toward Antioch as they've shifted from a severe thunderstorm warning issuance to a special weather statement issuance so you see where the white polygon here is so that's a lot better than a severe thunderstorm warning polygon because it means that winds are sub severe but they're they're something they're just not severe so they're sort of in between nothing and severe so uh right here it's indicating winds uh to 40 mph possible and that seems reasonable uh still getting some reports of power outages uh Vanessa says she just lost power on uh on Franklin off of 96 so um still entirely possible we could get some power outages tonight even with 40 to 50 m per hour winds uh so yeah what I was saying about that windship that was that was one of the most fascinating experiences I've had with a front and it was just I mean I stood outside because we we were hearing from people that it was coming or whatever and we we kind of lived we were one of the last ones to get it and uh and I mean it was so interesting it just I mean within 15 seconds the temperature just the bottom fell out I would really like to experience that like and I want to say it was in the U the lonon dove novel where they're out on the Plains and it's it that happens and it gets it drops temperature so quickly that um you know it's something that you know those guys who lived out there expect but for us we never really feel the elements do all that shifting cuz we're using a car do you know wearing too many clothes whatever um but I would love to see that um and just to feel that got video of so I'll send you I think I like a really bad headache it was just it was just weird because you could just feel it coming up the street you know it was just that was kind of kind of fun I feel like we should do like um recipes or something uh like we did the um boiled custard recipe while back I'm over here writing poetry on X oh you are just like Bill Shakespeare would have no I'm just I just used a kind of a Cheesy phrase what we're doing here what this really is is we realize there's a bunch of you without power right now and we just want to um you know we we want to run your battery down well what we could say is uh you don't have to watch us anymore you can save you would never really have to so if you're north of along or north of 40 all the excitement is over yes the storm is going to drift South and Southeast so you're going to hear some pretty loud thunder uh but as the storm gradually pulls away obviously that'll that'll reduce if you're not in Franklin uh or Nolanville really the storm is just now getting to you uh the worst if it's already gone through a Fair View and it should be down along 840 here in the next you know by 1105 or so if not before and then down at Spring Hill and should be out of there by gosh I'd say maybe 1130 or so uh there no other storms tonight um this is it and then we'll just have to wait for some more waves of potential storms that are similarly structured to this uh come through potentially tomorrow night and or Thursday afternoon but the models have been disasterous so that ETA could be total hot garbage um so yeah the there's a couple flood advisories around so if you're driving around or we're waiting for the line to get through um you know just understand that there's some probably some moving water in some places that it's not worth driving your car through so if you can't see the road um you don't know what's below the water and it could be rough so uh just be careful getting home because there it might surprise you how much water's out there um and then you know if you're down in College Grove or whatever and you're worried you know you got dog anxiety it's probably going to thunder a little bit for the next probably 45 minutes but um looks like the worst of the lightning is still over in brenwood over by Antioch and cre Hall between there several clouded ground strikes and even more in fact that's what you're hearing on the background now um another pretty big strike and that was just on off Nolanville Road South of Southern Hills um a big one um but yeah Nolanville you're just about to get this thing but if you're looking for going to bed if you're worried about tornadoes don't be um and then the straight line win risk has really come has really come down the winds have gotten weaker um so that'll be it um yeah I don't know anything else to say unless we're going to start making jokes um well I mean we could do that this morning expires in a minute so sorry about the Poetry Carrie I know you had hoped for more long time friend of the show I wrote storm will fade into the Midnight Hour it's it's pretty bad isn't it it like that would never be a lyric in one of Graham songs um I don't know man I like it oh okay I don't want writing credit I just I just want it to be in the world um giving what it can give we haven't counted down a warning in a while here we go no this reminds me of those long nights with Will where we would just bet on 30s of the thing oh you think that storm in Chapel Hill will get to fanville $5 says it won't that was the early days of Nashville early days nville severe weather then we would argue what would be the criteria of it rain there like what you know what do we do radar what we do Karas uh so we finally I don't know I think I ended up buying him a lunch or something is is it over David we need to get off of here oh are we getting it's over oh the Emo music back hear my cat I was gonna say do I have a cat started looking around under my desk dude that storm just perked up hold on guys we have taken up so much of these precious people's time today on three streams they've been very nice to sit here and listen to us and um that's true it's probably time we should let them go I mean tired of listening to me I haven't heard from my cat in like literally five hours and as soon as the warning ended he came in so I don't know he knows all right what's your cat what's your cat's name Graham it's Frank Frank yeah you want to see Frank have a feeling Frank's about to make an appearance let's go Frank Frank looks exactly like our cat we have a cat just like that out uh White yeah yeah yeah yeah absolutely her name's bunny but Frank knows things like we need to be listening to Frank yeah apparently up he think so all right let's go guys have a good night and we'll we'll talk to you later on hopefully we don't have to do a part four um all right peace out all right see you later
