it is Robertson to do the honors and to get us underway in 2024 Andra with the first swing for the Bulls here this season and back the other way comes Florida state with Taylor head backrow attack dug over Andra second effort and it's a kill for South Florida they strike first in toy Jim and I think we're going to see Andra get a lot of attempts out there in the pinch a leading score for this USF team they like to run through her a lot andr part of a tandem at the pin last year with Busa hazan who in her junior year this year has transferred to Northwestern both her and Andra who serves excuse me is still in the front row were all AAC a season ago Caroline dyes the center was serving that is out and off the service error one-point all South Florida and Florida State Lauren Robertson got us underway she is a transfer into the Florida state program so to is Taylor head from Arkansas good pass back set onra and she has both of South Florida's kills here in the early goings of set one and with speaking with Coach sheperson she said that Andra can hit from the left and the right side she's got a really fast arm swing she's a little underz so she uses what she has to her Advantage andrau Hills from Sal Paulo Brazil was on the all NIV DC tournament team last season set to the middle and Cory Lewis puts it down in a hurry Florida State's first offensive points of the season come from its local star and I love that decision from Florida state run through your middle run through your most efficient attacker free up that outside free up the outside to have a one-on-one situation later in the match I love the decision to run off the middle right out of the gates Lewis herself an allconference first teamer that's an overpass fua tried to put it down and the point goes to South Florida looked like it was out delayed call and that does come in as a point for the Bulls a little bit of nerves usually you want to take care of that overpass that's usually a gimme but right out of the gates there's some nerves happening TC pul back to Sur kig off the top of the block on D range's back Ali Kavanaugh the Georgia transfer with the swing from the right pin off speed out of play at the pin by Nia sael yep that set just a little too far inside nias satel not able to have her full approach kind of jumping off one foot wasn't able to make good hand contact with it sael a grad transfer from North Carolina A&T hailing from Stewart Florida over on the sunshine State's East Coast coming back to her home state for one last year of volleyball and a quality grad degree at South South Florida Kenne feeling showed off the float serve last year Chris P and Company going to let her go to the jump top this year she's always had it that one just missed yeah I love it I say might as well go for it rip it right out of the gates until you get more comfortable keep repping it out because that can be a huge Advantage for the Florida state seminal with her behind the service line so we've seen a couple of service errors early on here Helen the second Setter for Florida State and their 62 [Applause] setting the pin once again it's kig with a high [Music] reach fwa down the line missed it kylen filaa who wore a variety of hats for Florida State last year was primarily the NOS labero despite the fact that she was recruited as an outside taking some swings tonight and trying to find the confines of the Court Madison exactly she was kind of going for that outside fingertip of the left side blocker and just missed a little too far outside tight pass feeling on the Run set kig and kig finds the back corner great location from kig she just makes things look easy a little bit of trouble a little bit of congestion out there on the left side but she took a big rip right where it counted perfect location from her kill for kig and a kill for Cory Lewis and a big big swing at the PIN for [Music] [Applause] sawal back set goes to Monty Hartfield and Hartfield is on the board with her first kill well that was a power tip if I've ever seen one look at her taking space nice long approach and then saw that little Gap in the block and just drove that tip right down and through it harfield led the MVC in hitting percentage when she was a Southern Illinois Saluki and that's saying something you'll see some of these hitters Madison for South Florida they might be middle blockers but they are undersized they have to be crafty to get the job done exactly when you're undersized you've got to play to your strength so you run up more Tempo set you have to have a lot of range you have to mix up the location of the set and you have to do all of that to score Addie Snider with the Kill from the right Pinn good to see mdy Snider in the gym today she was questionable coming in and she made the most of that swing there Madison and great set from Kai Fila who coach said is a really good out of system Setter and drag with the kill and right out of the bat we see Andra with all of her range she's hitting high off of the block we've seen a couple sharp angles she's got lots of tools in her offensive Arsenal here's my [Music] Thomas Snider swinging away again that misses well outside the back [Applause] corner by Thomas who hails from Gainesville Florida LED South Florida and digs a season ago heavy swing from Taylor head at the pin and that's her first kill as a Florida seminal I like that quick Tempo set from Ken ofand to Taylor head they look very comfortable Taylor had a transfer from Arkansas but really has asserted herself into this offense you see the little Gap in the block there and she took advantage with a quick arm swing and a Tempo set all SEC team a season ago went to the Elite 8 did Arkansas for the first time in program history andr with another kill and for being 5'8 and does not hit like an undersized attacker she's got a really high vertical and like I said before she's Dynamic and she has all of that range so it's difficult for the defense to get into a rhythm against her she's responsible for four of South Florida's nine points here so far in set [Applause] one it's a service thereor by Caroline Dykes pulls FSU back within one three service errors for South Florida so some miscues by the Bulls keeping the seals in it here on their home floor exactly and you want to see Florida State take advantage of those and gain some momentum right now back set onra digs it out Kavanaugh had it sniffed out Cory Lewis shoved it back to the floor I love that block from Cory Lewis that's great ey work she hesitated in the air she saw the shot she shot blocked that put that hand out read the read the the roll shot excuse me very well and shoved it right to the floor it sends Taylor head back to serve Kavanagh will try again this time she splits the seam and South Florida leads once more and that's one thing that coach shepardson said that kavana does really well she's good at swinging around the block she identifies the hands of the block and can swing right through that little space Kavanaugh who hails from Jacksonville Beach did not play last year at Geor and he's on the board early Cory Lewis has been a staple for the seals since her freshman year that's another kill for number 8 and one and that's when Florida state is at their best they get a nice three pass it's quick Tempo Cory Lewis little cross body swing quick snap on the ball identified that middle blocker's hands really well and scored two and a half kills per set last season for Lewis jst at the net Lewis digs it out back row head for the kill and Taylor head is a seasoned six rotation player so she's comfortable hitting out of that back row you saw her there kind of hanging in the air a little bit that set a little high she hangs swings nice and high over the block and down preseason all ACC Taylor head and there sawel at the PIN for South Florida that point was scored from a straight power swinging up over that block and grabbing the fingertips Timeout on the floor will'll take it with them tied up at 11 set one so I hear some of you are concerned about the fact that I'm taking over the company well rest assured company's in great hands Marcy hit the vid homes.com we've done your homework now that is worth celebrating I love it thank you homework very clever very clever homes.com greatness is a feeling a moment a choice unrelenting a team effort greatness is accomplishing on this field and this one greatness is more than winning the game it's changing it greatness is what we do accomplish greatness my name is Madison Keys this is my 15th year playing professional tennis but I'm more than just a tennis player sometimes athletes get mislabeled because they see us at probably our most stressed out it's really fun to be able to try to express yourself outside of the Arena so people really get to see all aspects of who you are no matter the look TJ Maxx has exactly what I need to express myself Max what makes you [Music] you back here in Tal he kned up at 11 here in this first set what we thought was a timeout called by one of these teams it appears might have actually been a challenge James Phillips the down referee was at the Monitor and he Has Come Away with a decision of some [Applause] sort and the point that did go to South Florida right before that break now goes to Florida State believe FSU challenged that SEL was in the net here is sautel this time off speed over the block really smart move from sautel just had a really strong powerful swing that one went out so she took a little bit off of it she had really good Court vision and saw that little campire hole in the defense Fu leading it by one I saw tell averaging nearly four kills per set a season ago houi serves it in and kylen fwa puts it away for the kill I'm calling Kylie fwa a Swiss army knife she can hit from the Middle with that two attack she can hit from the outside she hit from the right side a really sharp down the line earlier and here she is moving the blocker round coming in through the middle hitting high off the hands I think Chris P said it best when we were on a conference call with him and it was more of a question he said what can't she do I love that that's true what can't she [Applause] do sou Florida has to just send that ball over opportunity here for filu and Florida State kavanov got a piece of the FSU block and that'll go down for a kill for number 22 in Black good swing by Kavanaugh I will say I love the Ken went back to that jump top creating some chaos but UCF able to recycle the ball get it back and kavanau Swinging high off the block and the block was just a little late on that Schneider back to ser and there's a kill out of the middle for Florida State another one of the FSU transfers Kelsey Perry getting on The Bard and Coach P said this middle position is the one position we don't really have a ton of experience in but she's gaining confidence and she's one of the most improved in August Harry the sophomore from Frisco Texas played her volleyball at Iowa State before coming here to FSU and there's kylen fwa dropping in the AER and just like that fsu's lead swells to three at the Midway media break in set one the 20th rank NOS leading it at home we'll be back after this this place is special it's not just the things you learned the friends you made or the wins you saw it's not even that you walk the same paths as renowned artists CEOs and Nobel laurates but what makes FSU special is who you be while you were [Music] here the make it Ford summer Sales Event is on Amazing offers and a great selection of Ford vehicles like the built wild Bronco family with a deal you just can't miss your biggest adventures are waiting so make it Ford make it yours make it now I want that lease a 2024 Bronco Big Bend or a 2024 Bronco sport Big Bend with zero down payment zero first month payment and zero security deposit see your Ford dealer for details honey but the gains are pumping yeah the Market's closed Futures don't sleep in the after hours bro dad is mommy a finance bro she switched gers to make money for your weddings ooh penny stocks are blowing up sweetie grab your piggy bank we're going all in let me ask you for your wedding do you want a gazebo in a river I don't what's like a Zebo something that your mother always wanted and never got or you could give these different investment options a shot the right money moves aren't as aggressive as you think I'm keeping the vest momentum and confidence into this season bestu speaking of momentum riding a wave of their own Midway through set one saw to turned back and that is a huge rejection by the seven old who increased their lead to four great move from Kelsey Perry read that set charged over there pressed her arms over the net perfectly timed block by her you see her here crashing into that open seam perfect block service error on the back side of it and South Florida is back within three sends Nia sautel back to serve for the [Applause] Bulls head rejected Perry digs it out second effort head dug out once again this time by felen add a system ball to kig that's a smart swing for number for four in white great swing off to the hands of the block and I'll say it again kylen Fila with that out of system jump set perfectly timed a little bit of a Tempo you see here jump set nice to the pin right to Audrey's right shoulder and she was able to take advantage with the tool strong serve as well South Florida does well to dig it out of the scores table hen turn back ConEd back row that's stoed and that is an impressive block because Florida state has done a really good job at mixing up their offense they went with the outside then they go through the back row to Audrey kig but she had great eye sequence pressed her arms over the net really well timed as well first block of the match for South Florida courtesy of onra head at the pin was turned back a couple of times this time registers the kill and that's why you mix up your offense head had no one in front of her and if you're an attacker that's exactly what you want you love an open net to crank down the line third kill on seven swings hitting 429 to this point Taylor head off to a good start in her Florida State Career at least through this first part of the first set Andra head once again this time rolling it over the block dkes picked up [Music] [Applause] back row sofel blocked out of play that'll be a kill for number 21 sawell uses all of that power and momentum in her approach to swing through the ball she's got a lot of heat behind each attack and there was a three block up on her and she was still able to Tool so SEL Ed to swing away for South Florida Trails by three Conan on the attack Kavanaugh is off to a good start in this match herself and boy for a player that we didn't know a whole heck of a lot about Madison because she simply didn't play last year she's showing a whole lot of good stuff so far and she's showing exactly what coach shefferson said she was going to show which is scoring off the block she's able to swing down and through that block and gain some points for her team one of the taller hitters for South Florida as well three kills hitting 400 so far the Lala pops it over and somebody has to play that ball that has got to be maddening for Jolene shepardson absolutely I mean that's just a lack of communication you're you're running in practice after that one for sure that's a gimme [Music] ball the lead back to three for Florida State and coach shepher on the back side of that has decided to call timeout that's a good call by her you either run and practice and you can't do that right now so time out get them going in the right direction so South Florida after calling the timeout will try to draw something up as they take on a Florida State team that returns a lot of production Madison but adds some valuable pieces as well this year in garnet gold and so it's a really good complimentary group that Chris P is high on and we've mentioned Audrey Koenig and Cory Lewis coming back and we've mentioned Taylor head coming in she's one of several impact transfers that have come to Tallahassee we've called a few of their names already exactly Taylor head is a huge get for the seminal she came from Arkansas 22 double doubles last season that second in the nation if that's not a good score for Coach P in the simal I don't know what is we've already seen Lauren Roberts and make an immediate impact from the setting position he said she runs really well through the middle and nice Tempo set so she's already making an impact they have to run a 62 because she's that good and then Kelsey Perry we've seen her get a couple kills we've seen her get a get a couple blocks she's going to be absolutely lights out for the simal this year and that's a great get as well Kylie Brennan you have more we'll check in with Kylie here in a little bit for the moment Florida State leads it by three [Applause] 1916 nice job off the serve receive for South Florida FSU showing defensive grit as well and there's kylen filaa putting that ball away off the edge of the block what can't she do tracking that ball so well and just shutting down that angle swing great pass swung right into her arms and that's a perfectly timed block with the press and then pointing her Palms into the other court well after Samia Foster laid out on serve receive the ball made its way across the net and FSU laid out to Pancake a ball off the floor Jolene shepardson thinks it touch so she is challenging floor touch here as we approach the Red Zone in set one and at this point you might as well Florida state is lengthening that lead they've got some momentum and if anything if you don't get the challenge it's kind of a timeout for your team she's able to go back with them maybe reassess what's happening and try and switch up the momentum a little bit which is all on Florida state that is how the rally ended James Phillips once again back at the Monitor and for the moment FSU leads this first set by four sou Florida Leed early and there is andr looking on this I believe is what drew the attention of shepardson Madison yep that's the play in challenge it's hard to tell from this angle it's an impressive dive in pancake nonetheless and she did get it up and then wasn't all the way up and then swung Warren Robertson is the real deal so Lauren Robertson who's one of those impact transfers she came in from Memphis credited with the pancake keeping the NES in the rally and allowing kylen fwa a look at the PIN Andra turned back this time off the top of the block and out she makes the most of the second effort and I like the serving decision from the seminal they're targeting Andra to try and take her out of the offense but there they were able to recycle the ball back get it back to her and she hit high off the hands five kills in this first set for Maria CL [Applause] out of the middle strong stuck by the seals Cory Lewis put it down that is good offense by FSU it's it's absolutely incredible offense she's so efficient give her a one-on-one situation you can see here I would like 22 kavat to make her way in there put up a little bit more of a threat on Cory Lewis because if you give her one block she's going to swing around it and straight down H over 400 last year fourth best hitting percentage in division one there's South Florida tooling FSU for a point of their own and credit the Bulls here Madison FSU turned the tables in the Midway point of this set and had all the momentum but South Florida's hung in there and kept it within reasonable touch and I expected this out of the Bulls coach said they're very gritty and that's what you expect out of a gritty team you stay in it no matter what here's Kavanaugh turned back by Conan sawel not yet dupes covers Kavanagh great tip decision by Kavanaugh seeing a little bit of the Line open you see her there and then shoving it off the outside left hand of Audrey kic another kill for [Music] kavanal it sends PES back to Surf Robertson on the Run sets Conan good Pursuit by andr free ball to Florida [Music] State Cony off the block sawel there to cover Kavanaugh tools the block for another kill and when you heat up as an attacker you really do heat up and the sign of a good Setter is to set the hot hands Caroline Dykes doing just that time out Florida State they led by as many as four it is now down to one F please for the court your Florida State cheerleader a 3-0 run for South Florida as these teams head to their respective huddles [Music] and and as we look into the south Florida huddle as they hear from their head coach Jolene shepardson with more on the Bulls here's Kylie Brennan yeah Sean we learned that they have actually an acronym and it's stands for bravery first as she's cultivating Risk Takers uncommon don't want anyone to go through the motions she thinks they are fabulous and can rise above love for the game and for the program that's what unites them Learners don't accept where you're at and solvers don't give them all of the solutions ask the right questions to make them draw the clues back to you guys I love a good Mantra I love a good acronym Madison and I would say over the last few points you've seen this team embody that Fe that bravery to go up and test that FSU block particularly Kavanaugh here over the last few points absolutely and I love how bold coach Jolene shepardson was in telling us that acronym you can tell it's just embedded in the culture of this team one point first set and there's Cav H once again and that's why you serve an aggressive serve because you can get the opposing team in a lot of trouble give yourself an opportunity to score and right there C on track that ball all she had to do was jump up and take care of the over pass tied at 21 the Bulls on a 40 run out of the middle Cory Lewis puts the Noles back in front and the USF block try they brought two girls over there but Cory Le is swinging right in front of her body just so high she touches such a high point over the net and contacts that ball at the peak of her jump Lewis with several kills of her own four on five swings no less no errors 800 in the first set for Cory as she looks on as Kenna felen goes back to serve the NES with a one-point lead make it to let it rip Ken of feeling that is why you go back to the service line right out of the gates sure she ered her first serve but she repped it out and now she's comfortable it's a cross body swing she dropped that Pinky and used all of that momentum on her approach roach to power through that ball crashing it down towards the sideline a timely Ace for Florida State and Jolene shepardson calls her final timeout of the set well Madison has been back and forth between these two teams at the moment South Florida out hitting the seals 303 to 265 a lot to digest but what are your impressions of what we've seen so far so far my impression is I think both teams are playing very gritty and playing to their strengths I love kinden of feeling going back taking that nice Brave jump Top Spin and then I love USF mixing up their offense they've been really Brave with their shots and you can tell they're not backing down volleyball is a game of momentum and both teams have exchanged momentum but what just what sticks out to me is the fact that neither team is backing down neither team has made too many errors they're both just sticking in it that's Madison fatrick the FSU beach volleyball Captain All-American National runnerup ball conference a sterling resume for mads who adds an illustrious color career there you go you're worth a thumbs up thank you guys here's Kenna Fel it tight pass put down that is exactly what you got to do if your Kelsey Perry and Florida state is on the doorstep of set one Kenna felin has Unleashed something so great coach said that she's been having that jump top he that successful since sixth grade but he's just letting her go all out for it and it is paying off I hope I see that all season long two-time Arkansas Gatorade player of the year in high school who was part of the 62 a season ago and if you're going to have that kind count of production off of a couple of serves you want that one:1 ratio you can live with it it's just the timing's a little tough late in the set exactly the timing is a little tough but she did get them those two extra points so give her a little bit of a break she's smiling she's in the groove and all Florida State needs his one side out all ACC freshman a season ago couple of set points still for the seminal Phil MAA and she'll put it away so here we go set number two win the set got to reach 25 and Win It by a margin of two herine dkes gets us back underway and Taylor head beat the block timing oh so important when you go up there to try to reject somebody Madison South Florida couldn't quite dial it up there exactly South Florida just not pressed enough on that block it was okay timing but Taylor head ran that quick Tempo set and pushed it through the block Kavanagh was the hot hand of Laden set one for South Florida and now Taylor head rolls it from the back row and that's good enough for Florida State and we just talked about how consistent she is as a six rotation player she's seasoned she's experienced she's got a couple Seasons as one and you can see there the confidence she has in the back row to make the smart shot not the most powerful shot but she saw the open floor and she's got a wide range of options for her offense fourth kill of the match for Taylor head FSU out of the gates winning the first two points here of set number two facility staff wiping up the ter Flex over on South Florida's side of the net been a scrappy match so far a lot of bulls and seals laying out trying to keep balls off the [Applause] floor and we're ready to go once again kiss off the tap picked up by andr Kavanaugh with another kill that's Kavanaugh's bread and butter a nice high set she takes her time on that approach and then hits high off the hands of the block so it's looking clear as day that Ali Kavanaugh with seven kills so far in this match just at the start of the second set is going to be a name to highlight moving forward this year if you're a fan of South Florida there is a service error and point right back to the nolles and the great part about Kavanagh coach said she has room to Blossom so she's got some room to grow but we're seeing a great performance by her so [Music] far off speed out of the middle head once again from the [Applause] backr there's Kavanaugh off the edge of the block [Applause] sael and out a system ball for kyen Fila courtesy of ellona and Fila rolls it to the back corner and that's a little beach volleyball shot there a nice high over the line smart shot she saw that just right over the lao's head pinpointed it perfectly second year of division one action for Ella gona who hails from St Louis Missouri came in last year and we didn't call her name a whole lot she didn't necessarily draw your eye in an extraordinarily positive way but she also didn't draw it in a negative way just came in did her job learned and grew and there's something to be said for that there are players on each team that need to be that consistent quiet steady athlete and she's that for the seminal nice up by her good Pursuit by Taylor head as well Robertson sends the free ball over opportunity for South Florida and they take advantage Nia sawel at the pin number 21 with a rocket shot here early in set two we've seen a lot of power from Nia sautel and now we see some range going down the line dropping that pinky powering through the ball and just hitting it to the left of the right back Defender fourth kill to go along with three digs for sael out of the middle there's Cory Lewis and there's another kill for Cory I smile because it doesn't matter if Cory Lewis has one block on her two blocks on her or three people up in the air pressed at the right time she can find a way to squeak it past the block a lot of that has to do with her power a lot of that has to do with her reach she's extremely consistent she's hitting 667 so far nice little debut for her I was going to say is that any good it's incredible Kenna felen off to a really strong start serving and as I say that strong is the operative word too strong on that service attempt it's an error and South Florida is back within a couple several service errors for either side four in fact for both South Florida and Florida State tight and con couldn't make much of that Kenna feland did everything she could to get that ball up and off the net high enough for kig but just a little too tight of a [Music] pass and that's out of play another service eror by South Florida the Schneider couldn't find that back corner [Applause] sautel High Reach off speed DE covers Florida state gets it [Applause] over dkes pops it over and there's sael speaking of Pop she is showing it here in set number two and you can tell when players are emotional leaders you can tell when they're little Energizer bunnies and I think sautel is that for USF I saw a little stare down after that one you need those players on the court to fire up your team nearly four kills per set for Nia sautel in her senior year at North Carolina a and [Applause] t head lets it Fly that ball's still in play you have to keep an eye on that here in to gym first time we've seen it lower ceiling and if it comes back in play Within those first three contacts you can play it up South Florida just unable to track it yeah it it's difficult there's some grooves in the ceiling you have to really watch the ball and track it and if you're not used to playing here it's difficult to follow service error for Audrey kig South Florida gets the point right back and they are back within one of the seminal [Music] 76 FSU here in set two back set to Snider it's tight and that is a point for South Florida what I like from both teams is yes they've missed a lot of serves but we've seen a lot of aggressive serving and that's put other teams in the opposing team in a little bit of trouble on server SE I Thomas missfires [Applause] now R Robertson Jacks in for FSU out of the middle there's a kill for Tey PES and it's a little quiet in the gym Florida State just did a dub sub which means two players came out two players came in sometimes that livens up the team gets a little bit more energy but right now it's just a little quiet from Florida State side and you see USF they're fired up they have nothing to lose h a six rotation middle block from South Florida registering the kill there's another service error it's also kind of hard to build some momentum and energy in the gym G when a lot of points are ending on serf that's exactly what I was about to say it's almost impossible to build momentum kyen FAL is going to try to do her part to build a little momentum there taking care of that swing and FSU leads by two it's a great serve from Taylor head nice flat float serve deep lot of power behind it lot of float behind it causing the [Applause] overpass gav on had to wait on that missfires on the cross attempt and that's another point for Florida State and a time out will be called by Jolene shepardson FSU one set one they lead set two by three we'll step aside and be back after a few moments honey but the gains are pumping yeah the Market's closed Futures don't sleep in the after hours bro dad is mommy a finance bro she switched careers to make money for your weddings ooh penny stocks are blowing up sweetie grab your piggy bank we're going all in let me ask you for your wedding do you want a gazebo in a river I don't what's like a Zebo something that your mother always wanted and never got or you could give these different investment options a shot the right money moves aren't as aggressive as you think I'm keeping the vest my name is Madison Keys this is my 15th year playing professional tennis but I'm more than just a tennis player sometimes athletes get mislabeled because they see us at probably our most stressed out it's really fun to be able to try to express yourself outside of the Arena so people really get to see all aspects of who you are no matter the look TJ Maxx has exactly what I need to express myself Max what makes you [Music] you back here in Tallahassee the 20th ranked seminal of Florida State W set one over South Florida 2522 they lead set two 11 to8 sha Davidson Madison Fitzpatrick Kylie Brennan our entire ACC Network extra crew with you at Lucy McDaniel Court as Taylor head misfires after the south Florida timeout and if you're USF Madison timeout good to discuss some things with FSU stretching the lead and one of the inadvertent benefits to yeah ice Taylor head exactly and Taylor head got into a rhythm behind the service line causing USF to get in a little bit of trouble that was a really smart timeout [Applause] fua number 12 with the swing at the PIN for Florida State great job by Audrey con and getting a hand on that fua once again and I just need to express how difficult it is to hit that ball that fwa just hit it's coming from behind her over her shoulder she waits on her approach and then still has all that power moving forward and snaps at a nice high point over the net that's very difficult to do she's very athletic Madison what are some of the keys I know you mentioned a little bit there what are some of the keys to effectively hitting an out of system ball getting off of the net enough to allow yourself enough room to have that approach taking space off the net and then swinging through the ball nice and high because you're a little off heavy hitting rally here by both of these teams speaking of out a system soel rolls that ball over I reach Lewis pop back Cony Kavanaugh dug up and that is down for a stuff block South Florida puts an exclamation point on that rally riness embodied there for the Bulls and South Florida has done their homework they know that Koenig is the go-to in transition kig having a little bit of an uncharacteristic first match with only two kills Ali Kavanaugh credit with the block the second block of the match for the Bulls that goes along with seven pills for kavan on her D1 debut Cory Lewis out of the middle off speed good enough for number eight in white if I'm Florida State right now I want every ins system ball in transition or serve receive running through Cory Lewis she is so Dynamic she identifies the hand of the block so well and pretty much every ball is at the 10t line let's be honest and Madison when we've seen FL to State at their best over the years it's been when they've been able to effectively run the middle exactly because then that frees up the pin it frees up kig and Phila possibly giving them a one-on-one situation later in the match speaking of FILA operating from the right pin this time puts it Down For the Kill and one thing that Coach Co did say about Fila which I love is that she's a baller and you can tell from off the net she's taking a big swing she's Brave she's very athletic and we see it from every single area of the Court every single aspect of her game she's just a baller eighth kill for kylen Fila that's impressive enough Madison but then hitting 429 you usually see high kill volume from your pins you don't necessarily see a hitting percentage like that exactly and I love that from her coming right out of the gates so consistent especially from last year being the labero for the team you know she didn't get a ton of hitting reps but it's obvious she's been emphasizing it in the offseason and she's back to her normal Groove Kenna Feelin get back to her groove that we saw in set one at the service line that misses a service error by the seminal South Florida back within three kavanau subs off the floor for South Florida Leah Schneider will check in to serve seven errors either side for the Bulls and the seminal [Applause] Harry out of the middle on Dr back row dug out by Kenneth felen free ball to the Bulls off speed sof ta turned back kylen phwa and Kelsey Perry that was an absolute wall up there at the net both of those blockers very technically sound you don't see them make a lot of Errors because they're very fundamentally sound up there on the Block fua Washington Gatorade player of the year in high school that came on the backside of an ACL tear no less for kylen comes here thinking she's going to be an outside plays some labero and now this year she's back to swinging away and looking good so to Audrey Koenig who has been a pin from the drop in her Florida State Career there's another one for kig number four and that's the Audrey Koenig that we know and love she hits the ball at a very high point like I said at the beginning she touches 108 and she's at her best when she is Max jumping and hitting high off the hands of the block just the third kill of this match for Audrey kig and I think that speaks Madison to what Chris P was telling us about the need to run a 62 he's got so many weapons particularly at the pin if you go 51 you're limiting how often you can bring some of those weapons in and so if you have a night where koenig's only getting you a handful of kills you might be able to get 8 n 10 at of kylen fill him out well said Sean it's the most physical they've been in a very long time they have a lot of 6 foot plus athletes and the depth like you said there's five girls who can hit interchangeably from both pins so the options are incredible for Florida State because of that physicality and then it makes it really difficult for USF to get into a defensive Rhythm because they have so many options at the pins well you mentioned physicality Audrey kig also mentioned physicality and with more on that here's Kylie Brennan yeah Sean 2023 ACC co-player of the Year Audrey kig told me this team's identity is found in its physicality I mean guys about 60% of this team is 6'1 or taller but even with those several offensive additions from the portal she said they've already become Incredibly Close she's excited for how that will show up today as it already has back to you Sean andison thank you very much if anybody knows physicality Audrey kig certainly does she has embodied that over the course of her FSU career kylen Fila hitting hers rolling here in the first couple of years and Nia sawel I'll tell you what she has turned up the heat here in set number two most of her kills coming here in this set now six for the match for number 21 exactly she comes with it with all of that energy and power the block just a little late on that and she was able to Tool high off the hands Emory dupes in on serve receive off speed smart shot by Taylor head really smart shot by Taylor head and that's one of the things that makes her so great she is a little bit undersized and like I said before if you're undersized you have to find ways to score you have to use every tool in your offense to your advantage and she's got every tool imaginable six kills for the Arkansas transfer it sends Audrey kig to the back row great job on Ser Reed there by Schneider and good coverage at the net manie Snider and Kelsey Perry carry a player Madison that chrispol said has grown a ton since she's come here to Tallahassee arguably more so than anybody else in that same period of time exactly arguably the most in August and when we talk about physicality we talked about it offensively but here we see it being a huge Advantage for them defensively they're big at the net they've got these long arms and they're very technically sound so physicality goes for defense as well sockel from the back grow head big swing found the seam and Taylor head has yet another kill Taylor head has hit almost every single area of the Court she's really difficult to read got a lot of range in that shoulder of hers and right there that's perfectly placed almost on the end line down towards the line yeah that's beautiful we we could show that a few more times that is beautiful every time preseason all ACC along with the likes of Cory Lewis and Audrey kig and that kill there extends Florida State scoring run to three they now lead by seven here in set number two sawel turn back guess who Kelsey Perry once again Kelsey Perry coach said she has gained a lot of confidence in the off season and you can see the confidence in her block tracking that ball pressing over the net all three blockers crashing in for that middle back attack FSU as a team has six blocks in these first two sets Perry herself responsible for four of them andr off the block head uses the block tips it off the block into the antenna that'll go down for another kill for Taylor head really smart setting decisions from Kenna feeling the block knowing which one of her hitters is hot and setting them the set that they like they obviously have a lot of chemistry FSU has a team hitting 500 in this second set alone on Dr big swing at the pin Taylor head with one of her own back and forth we go feeding the pin this time back row coning good coverage by fuwa head again and that is another kill for Taylor nice little out of system set from Audrey K controlling that ball really well giving Taylor head enough Peak for her to transition off the net and she's loving that down the line swing right now dropping that pinky making it nice and [Applause] sharp on Dr it's been a while since we've called her name as far as registering a kill is concerned South lorda is going to want to get some more from onr they're going to feed her here as you saw there with that swing Madison I like the idea you got to get her going exactly and if she doesn't get going this set you just want to get her going for the next set as well right now it's about building momentum to carry into the Next set oh that'll help imanii harfield quickly out of the middle puts that down her second Hill of the match right on Q perfectly timed that will most definitely help and you see the Gap in the block and M Hartfield had a ton of room just to snap on that ball hasn't taken a ton of swings has been fairly efficient hitting 400 there's Fila on the attack and we'll get a net violation here against the Bulls I believe that'll go against pues set point and that brings up a whole bunch of set points for the seminal really dominant showing from the simal in this second set they look very confident out there and and this is what this team can be and it's really fun to watch 71 run over this final third of the second set Robertson serves it in j at the net and that was smart by Caroline dkes got to it and redirected it yeah really smart by Caroline Dykes one-on-one situation middle for Florida State wasn't there it wasn't on her she could feel that space and she took advantage as a front row Setter still set point for the seminal a side out away and out of the middle it's the youngster Johanna Sak who plays on her native country back to serve to do the honors once again in set number three first to 25 win by two if FSU does it they win the match in Straits if South Florida does it well then they extend the proceedings a bit and you will need to see more of that from number 16 in Black Andra did not have a kill in set two she's got the first point in this third frame and that's another one of the keys to this game now USF is looking a little bit more comfortable in that second set there service even transition passing just wasn't to the setter and they weren't able to run through their star Clara Andra so I definitely look for them to run through her more in this set there's Cory Lewis doing Cory Lewis things the slide a staple in the equation for Florida State's offense for some time and she has been want to run it over the years absolutely I think she almost favors going in front we see her running through that option a little bit more with the 31s and the ones but whenever she goes on the slide pulling that block with her she creates a lot of great gaps in seams bues off the right pin the middle ranging over for South Florida and that attack attempt airs long by Taylor head and we haven't seen a lot of Errors from torhead actually that is her first error on the swing so shrug that one off and get back to it 21 South Florida just the sixth attack error by Florida State as a team through the first two sets in [Applause] change andr back row fuwa chases it into the bench and keeps this rally alive back on the floor contributing to a block and colliding into the ston my goodness filo ran into just about everything you can imagine in this rally you love that from a player sometimes I say sacrifice your body that was an actual sacrifice of her body and then she Sprints to the net a little out of control but you have to appreciate her going for it she had just had a little bit too much momentum moving forward causing her to crash into the net but she looks like she's okay now allout effort to be sure for filu service error by the Bulls FSU back within a point [Applause] [Applause] elay owner in to serve for Florida State head covers kig attacks won't get a touch call and that is a point to the Bulls yeah kig just having a little bit of trouble getting into a rhythm it is the first match of the Season we know her potential we know she usually accumulates more kills than this so I definitely would expect her to bounce back but this is just not her game so far Madison for the folks at home can you put into context what it's like especially your last opening night what are you battling and and how do you handle the energy and the adrenaline in that kind of scenario that's a great question I mean it's definitely emotional it's a first of a last and Audrey K has been such a staple in this Florida State team so there's definitely a lot of motions behind it and I definitely would expect her to get more into a rhythm as we go on but just a little bit of an off night Nia sawel thought she recorded a kill down the line but she caught the antenna did number 21 in Black I think she was going for off of the fingertips of Kai filaa but just aired a little too far outside striking the antenna Fen locates the jump top and a back row at attack for on Dr and this is what USF needed they needed to run onra through the front through the back wherever they can they needed to get her going and you see there a one-on-one situation Kelsey Perry up in the air but andr with all that power Just pinpointing where to go eight kills hitting 250 already three kills the set for Maria CLA sawel off speed good enough in South Florida riding a little wave of momentum early set three knowing exactly what they must do to extend the match and that was a great set by Caroline Dykes falling off of the net but she did a really good job at getting her feet there squaring to the antenna and giving her a nice Tempo set all the way out to the pin that caught the corner that's an a serve volleyball is a game of momentum and if you're coach shepardson this is exactly what you wanted this is how you wanted them to respond Lea Schneider drops in the Ace she'll go back to serve once more four-point lead for the Bulls in set three coning trying to erase one of them not yet second effort this time gets the job done there's the audre kig we know getting off minut it in transition that's something that goes a little bit un noticed to the viewer but as an outside pin hitter you have to work really hard in transition to get all the way off the net to have that full approach in front of you and you see her there hitting high off of the hands just dropping in between left back and middle back there she is working from the right side kig there's sautel coming right back at her and finding the floor with the cross sautell and Caroline dkes have really good chemistry right now it's a nice Tempo set and sautel contacting that ball really High tooling off the fingertips that's kill number eight for Nia to go along with four Diggs and a service [Applause] eror that's usf's ninth service error of the match Florida state has seven right [Applause] now it has been a good third set service errors not withstanding for the Bulls hitting 405 kills on 10 Swings with one attack error har he swats it over good pick up by sautel on drudge did not catch a touch she was really going for it though you could see her whole body in the air twist and turn down that line trying to grab a fingertip or two and from my vantage point it almost looked like she did but I think she nearly missed well her teammates wanted their head coach Jolene shepardson to pull that challenge card she opted not two so it remains Point Florida State there is shepardson looking on and kig will serve it [Applause] in Andra this time gets Florida State into the net Madie Snider called for being in the net she looks back to Chris p and says I was not in the net so now we'll see if FSU is inclined to challenge and Chris P has pulled the challenge card so the nlls want James Phillips to go to the monitor to determine if in fact mattye Snyder was in the net or not as it stands the Bulls have a three-o point lead in this third set and with every challenge Madison I think the thing that's unique about volleyball is that it carries the potential of a two-point swing you're not just taking a point away from somebody you're giving that same point to the other team exactly and I've driven my teammates nuts with this before saying it's really every time you challenge you gain or lose two points and I go into this big Theory I'm not going to get into it today but it's a smart decision because also now he's got time he can talk to them and that is another unique part about this sport now they can take a little time out in a in a way and another thing I love about the challenge system is if you get it correct you're rewarded and you get that challenge back so if you're strong in your opinion and you might as well go for it because you get the timeout and there's a possibility you get it back yeah each team gets two per match as opposed to the previous system where you where you got three but regardless of whether not you were right Madison you lost it this is a much more favorable system that the coaches have all really appreciated we'll take another look they're going up from right there it doesn't look like she necessarily did touch the net luckily I'm not an official cuz I don't think I'm good at making those calls she had a solid press on the ball but her body was moving this is a big point yeah you tip the cap to the Bulls for coming out in this third set as strong as they have after set two got away from them this could be a crucial swing of momentum and it looks like they're going to overturn that point indeed [Applause] and kig back to Ser no questions there imanii Hartfield puts down her third kill of the match immani Hartfield has come up big in Big Time situations on a nice three pass we've seen them run through her and she punishes that ball and then you see the Gap in the [Applause] block Snider responds with a kill of her own that's her second kill of the match and that's why it's good to mix up your offense there wasn't two blocks two blockers on Snyder she had a nice open net a one-on-one situation and by mixing up your offense you keep the block guessing and it paid dividends for Florida State strong Serve by Robertson good effort there by pues getting that ball over at South Florida was just twoo out of system and Lewis had an open net and you cannot give a player like Cory Lewis an open net like that and that's his cross body of a swing as they come she's facing the angle and then it's almost like a no look swing she's swinging over her left shoulder dropping that pinky it's very sharp and almost impossible to dig UNR turned back by Lewis UNR once again tests the FSU block sael turn back Cory Lewis is an extremely Advanced blocker she can read the shot and a shot block is when you hesitate on the jump you see the opposing attacker drop their elbow you know they're going to tip it so you wait on the Block then you do a late jump and press service error by Florida State Madison going back to the topic of blocking Cory Lewis I think safe to say a player that has been well regarded for her efficiency on offense maybe the blocking a touch behind what she does offensively how do you assess what you've seen out of her today two blocks in this match and a lot of quality block touches too exactly and it's not just about the straight down blocks the the purpose of the block is to take up space to to slow down the attack to create nice touches on the Block and she's been doing a wonderful job I definitely see her growing in this area and that's something that Coach P said that she's working on FSU has really tightened things down at the net a couple of rejections South Florida keeps it up and that is an offe Beauty by Taylor head just tipping it over the block Taylor head is so incredibly smart on that attack Kai being out there on the court and being able to take that second ball when they're out of system is just intangible she is so valuable to her team just strictly from that out of system set it's almost like when Florida state is out of system they're actually in system because Kai is such an elite Setter it's been a good day for kylen filal several digs a couple blocks couple of assists eight [Music] kills andr attacks the out of system ball wow there's another kill for Kylie fwa fed by Taylor head a tremendous pass there by head kylen Fila that's her ninth kill she's hitting well over 300 great dig by head from Lauren Robertson a nice tight set which kylen filaa with all of that power momentum in her approach just took advantage of tight to the net and Lewis takes care of business and just like that Florida state has caught up and passed [Applause] USF a blink of an eye everything can change and FSU is on a heater they've won the last three points to the middle Kavanaugh Kavanaugh carried the Bulls early had seven kills early on in this match she's still looking for number eight and that attack error leads us to a Midway media timeout in a must-win set the n's leading it two sets to none with Schwab investing themes it's easy to invest in ideas you believe in spot a trend in electric vehicles have a passion for online gaming or want to of miles of [Music] tracks clearing the [Music] way so you arrive exactly where you belong Maria CLA Andra was hot early cooled off a little bit Madison and she's heating up again and you see her there with all of that rain she's leading her team in kills with eight she's a solid six rotation player she's got seven digs which is the most digs on the team and then you see her with all of that range she can hit from the back row she can hit from the front row and she's got a lot of energy behind every single attack South Florida is going to need more of that energy more swings like that in a must-win third set FSU on a 40 run to flip the scoreboard and take the lead Kavanagh had been a perfect compliment to androd she's gone cold here of late kylen Fila anything but cold she's dug balls she's aced balls she's killed balls she set balls she's done everything here tonight for Florida State she is the Swiss army knife and what was so impressive about that attack is she didn't even have an approach she took a one-w hop jumped and swung through that [Music] ball off speed fwa Kavanaugh responds with a kill of her own and could that be the swing that gets Kavanagh going once again and we we will see volleyball is a game of momentum ups and downs players get the hot hand at different times and we've seen Kavanagh can really heat up did not play as I mentioned earlier when she was a freshman at Georgia so you go back to her High School career she won a State title was named the 4A Player of the Year in the State of Florida her club team was ranked as high as number two in the country so has the pedigree and has the opportunity to do something special for South Florida andr was hunting that end line and missed it another point to Florida State and if you're USF at this point you really cannot afford those unforced errors like that you can't afford any in the Nets the Miss serves you really have to be perfect and meticulous from this point out to catch up sael off [Applause] speed Kavanaugh on the cross Lewis out of The Middle that has to make you smile a little onto action good job on the Block slowing down that attack I said earlier that's one of the purposes of the block is to get the hands on the ball slow down the attack and then allow your defense to recycle it and give you a chance to score Cory Lewis getting a little creative right there and it paid off the defense for USF was not [Applause] set Kavanagh turned back and Florida State continues to just Feast at the net Audrey kig now getting in on the ax it's the physicality and the height at the net defensively that's powering Florida State ahead of South Florida right now for sure and then if you're kavanau you almost want to go angle with that swing Audrey koing had the line shut down middle blocker Cory Lewis was late to close you almost want to see her rip it sharp into the angle where she has some more room to score this is a Florida State team that Chris P mentioned one of the things that he thought wasn't necessarily their strongest suit in the runup to this season was their blocking Madison but eight so far in this match and a handful of them here in this set alone I would submit to you too that as last season went along they really picked up steam in the blocking Department as well I feel like they're a little bit better than maybe Chris P is letting on I was I was just about to say that chrisp has extremely high expectations they look really good from day one on the Block and USF runs a fast offense like we said before they're a little undersized USF is so they got a lot of tempo sets going Florida State doing a really good job at keeping up with those Tempo sets getting there getting their feet set and pressing and that has paved the way to a six-point lead here in this third set for the seals South Florida must find a way to erase the death deficit and win this one to see a [Music] four good service run here for Elona she serves once more out of the middle that'll put an end to it and that is the local freshman Amelia Vos dega you got to love as Sega coming in making an impact right out of the bat and she's from Tallahassee Florida so she's playing in her home City you know that has to feel good to score running a three set there which is a gap set finding room in the block to score played four years at the FSU high school Under Sheila Roberts whose daughter Taylor played for the seminal several years ago and there's Audrey Koenig recording yet another kill here tonight starting to show more of what we would expect to see out of her slow start for her gaining some steam here in this set exactly I think that might be the slowest start we will see from kig throughout the season fans don't get comfortable with her only having six kills in a match I have a feeling she's definitely going to heat up from here well on the FSU side of things you might have saw a young face wearing a 15 that is their freshman Johan SAA checking in and there is another point to the seals another Ace for f that shoe and here's Kenne feeling going back for [Applause] more [Applause] overpass sawell off the block kig there to cover SAA off balance makes the most of it and rolls it to the back corner Chris P called her a tall drink of water and then right after that said she's relatively fresh she had duties in Estonia but she's going to be good she is going to be good and that's a very difficult set to swing on she had zero approach that ball coming from almost behind her but she's really tall she contacts the ball at a high point and just just nice roll shot all the way into the deep Corner another overpass back set filimaua [Applause] Hartfield off balance out of the middle a misconnection by the Bulls and that'll cost him another point the nolles continuing to just pour it on here in the middle to latter stages of this third set and might I add Kenna felin has been at the Forefront of that behind the service line ripping these aggressive jump top spins she has the ability to put the team on her back and gain momentum from her serve alone oh There She is again and there's another a serve for Kenna fens Ken ofin is Dynamite from the service line and that's a difficult serve to time out the toss has to be perfect your hand contact has to be perfect you have to hit it at its highest point it's not an easy serve to get over the net much less Ace three times which she has three Aces to four errors for Kenna Fel and make get five but man she has been impressive tonight and you have enough of a lead where you can feel comfortable going back to the service line and ripping it and trying things out after all this is the first match of the season and she's only going to get more comfortable from here so off that run fsu's lead is nine Taylor head takes it on first Contact kig in transition second effort for kig and she hammers it to the floor those are those sharp angles that makes Audrey kig so difficult to dig up nice sharp cross angle you see there just sneaking it inside the block the middle block lined up a little too far down her line and she took advantage of that dropping that thumb making it almost like a little 10- foot line sharp cross crosscourt kill 10-point lead make it nine off the service [Applause] [Applause] Sarah sawel there's a big swing by Taylor head that is out of play extends the proceedings here for South Florida giving them a little inroad they still Trail by eight 23- [Applause] 15 head once [Music] again and there's Taylor turning back harfield and that'll bring up match points for the NES Taylor had 510 but a whole lot of hops and obviously a very experienced blocker you see her there reading the crosscourt swing diving her arms into that angle and shutting off any seams it'll be Audrey Koenig back to [Applause] serve Why Not Another block for the SOS this time it's SOA and they win set three 25 515 they win the match three sets To None over the visiting Bulls from Tampa and Coach pool usually has a blank
