Arizona State Sun Devils 2024 football schedule preview and point spread prediction

so today I'll be continuing with my schedule discussion and point spread prediction videos today I'll be doing Arizona State so there's not much good to say about Arizona state they're like Vanderbuilt now uh these past two years that they've been horrible uh so you know you have to win six games to go to a bowl game well they've won a total of six games uh these past last two seasons combined they've won three games each of the last two seasons their offense was horrible last year probably one of the five worst in the country averaging only 17 points a game and their defense was terrible too and averaging allowing 31 points per game and um if you think that maybe they weren't as bad as the record showed uh they lost to Colorado last year by a little bit so that should tell you that they were horrible um and uh I think right now that Arizona state is probably going to be the worst team in the Big 12 this year of course that could change when I do my real predictions which are coming soon U but um Arizona State can't recruit well at all they only finished number 45 in recruiting and I'm surprised they even did that well and I know they ranked number 15 in the transfer portal this year but that's deceiving like with Colorado because they added so many players that aren't very good uh and uh really Arizona State to me could go zero and 12 this year I don't see any given wins on their schedule I know you might think that Wyoming and Texas state would be sure wins but they're not Wyoming beat Texas Tech last year and Texas State beat Baylor last year and I think both of those teams were better than Arizona state was last year I know for sure Texas Tech was so they could lose one or both of those games those are about 5050 games in my opinion especially the Texas state one a Thursday Road game after what's going to be a tough game against Mississippi State uh so uh Mississippi state is like Arizona State a program right now that's in the garbage can in football but they're not quite as much in the garbage can as Arizona state is I don't think Arizona state will win that game they might have a chance it is at home and Mississippi state is terrible too but uh I would uh love it if they did beat Mississippi State as an Old Miss fan then I could pick at Mississippi State for losing the Arizona State um but that'll probably be a pretty close game uh and then they start their conference schedule on the road at Texas Tech uh not likely to win that one uh I think Texas Tech's going to be quite a bit better than Arizona State but probably not great uh and then take a week off before playing Kansas at home the week off and home field advantage I don't think it's going to do them any good in that one Kansas is going to have way too much offense for Arizona State to keep up with and Utah they play next on a Friday at home so I know I've talked about how there can be upsets on these weekday games but this is not one that there's really a chance of that happening Utah is just so much better Utah actually beat Arizona State last year by a score of 55-3 with one of the worst quarterbacks in the country and now they have a top 10 quarterback with Cameron Rising coming back and I don't think Arizona state is going to be any better this year than they were last year uh so there's really no reason to think that Arizona state is not going to get blown out really bad again by Utah it'll probably be like a 50s something Point loss again and then uh they play Cincinnati on the road that's one they could maybe get those two teams and Arizona State and Cincinnati and uh also Colorado uh I think will be the teams trying to avoid finishing last in the Big 12 this year uh so it would have been nice though for them to gotten to play Cincinnati at home and then played Utah or Kansas on on the road since they're not going to win either one of those anyway and then they take a week off before playing Oklahoma State on the road no chance in this one it's probably going to be a pretty big beating Oklahoma state is going to be really good this year and they're really well coached every year and that is a very tough place to play at Oklahoma State and then they play Central Florida a very likely loss also not 100% uh it is at home and Central Florida wasn't that good last year but I think uh Gus malan is probably going to have them playing better this year with the transfers that he brought in and what he has coming back from last season and then they play Kansas State on the road uh there's really no chance in that one either Kansas State I think he going to have one of the best Run games this [Music] year there's not the most talented team but they're so much better coached and they still have such a better roster than Arizona state is going to have uh and then BYU at home that's one they could maybe get uh it is good to have that one at home BYU I don't think is going to be very good but uh I do think Arizona state is worse and then the Rival Arizona on the road really no chance in that one Arizona is going to be able to score points this year with that really good quarterback uh the defense may not be great but even if it's bad Arizona State I don't think it's going to have the kind of offense to be able to take advantage of that uh so they won't be able to keep up uh with Arizona it'll probably be a blowout like it was last year um so on this schedule uh there's no way uh they're going to be able to get a bowl game uh I can't find anywhere near six wins on this schedule and it's really too bad that they don't get to play the Colorado clown show this year because I know they lost to them last year but that's one they might have been able to win they'll probably only win a couple of games again this year I would think so now I'll move on to the point spread prediction so uh games in the purple or games where I think that Arizona state will be favored to win by about a touchdown at 6 to9 points and there's two of those Wyoming and Texas State Games in the gray or games where I think Arizona state will be an underdog by about a field goal one to Five Points there's two of those Cincinnati and BYU games in the yellower games where I think Arizona state will be an underdog by about a touchdown at 6 to9 points and uh there are five of those Mississippi State Texas Tech Kansas central Florida and Arizona and games in the orange are games where I think Arizona state will be a double digit Underdog but not a blowout Underdog so 10 to 19 points and there's a three of those Utah Oklahoma State and Kansas State uh so uh Wyoming I think Arizona state will be favored by seven points in that one probably because they are supposed to be better than Wyoming Wyoming is uh not FCS but they're not power four like Arizona state is and Texas State uh I think uh the spread in that one will be around six points but I could possibly see that one being in the pink which those games would mean Arizona state would only be about a fi goal favorite uh and uh Cincinnati because it's a road game I think they'll be about a three-point favorite over Arizona state but I think Arizona state would probably be the favorite at home in that game uh and then BYU I think they'll be favored by probably like a point to even though Arizona state gets them at home but that's one that maybe Arizona State could be favored in really the only one that I think they have much of a chance of being favored in in the conference this year and Mississippi State uh I think uh Arizona state will be an underdog by around seven points in that game and probably around seven against Texas Tech and uh Kansas I think the spread in that one will be around nine points that would be in the orange if it was a road game and uh Central Florida the spread in that one will probably be around 7 points uh and Arizona spreading that one I think will be around nine points uh even though I think Arizona is much better than Arizona State because it's a rivalry I don't think the spread will be real High um and Utah I think the spread in that one will probably be around 1 points right now uh but uh Utah I do think we'll win by a lot more than that I'd be shocked if they only won by 17 but Vegas doesn't usually have huge spreads for conference games which this is a conference game uh and then Oklahoma State I think they'll be favored over Arizona state by a couple of touchdowns maybe 14 points so in Kansas State uh they'll be an underdog in that one by more than 10 but probably not quite by two
