Trevis Gipson 1-on-1 at Jacksonville Jaguars Mini-Camp

Acquisitions Travis Gibson uh here with Rick B uh first things first uh two days in a row here indoors of the mil electric Center so got a little bit of break from the heat yeah man it's uh I think we had one of the hottest maze or something like that in uh Florida Jacksonville so you know it's uh it's an adjustment I'll say that but you know these these last two days being inside you know first first two practices in the indoors been good man love it what do you think of the mil electric Center I mean you've been in Chicago and Tennessee compare that to your first two stops man this uh this Stadium this facility man it's beautiful man it's uh you know top at Art I know it's new but you know it's it's nothing like it's nothing like being here the environment is what makes this place feel like home actually it's not uh you know the bells and whistles it's it's the people that's in the building for me I had a chance to talk with Bill shuy last week and he had a lot of really positive things to say about you your decision to come here to Jacksonville how much did Bill shuy have to do with that and you know I've had some rough patches in my career honestly I think I think that's transparent enough for everybody to see and um you know one of my best years so far was with Bill shuy you know my first year he was my assistant you know we built a great Bond doing extra work on the side he had me prepared for when I had my number called and you know um that that alone built a lot of trust in between me and his relationship so coming back being here and um you you know the influence that he had on my decision it was almost at the snap of a dime you know I had the opportunity last year but you know I just I made an unfortunate decision and you know the the results is what it was but I'm here I'm here now you know I'm learning to the staff learning you know everybody you know I'm learning everything but you know it it was a he had a big influence on my decision Tennessee twice in the division I imagine that's got to tick you off a little bit after what happened oh oh yeah and we got Chicago too yeah so that that would be fun that'll be that'll be some games I'm looking forward to like the rest of them how different is this defense I'm not overly familiar with what happened a couple of years ago in Chicago but is this something now that you have to totally relearn or is this just something that yeah you've experienced and it it should be pretty easy for you to uh to go out and accept you know honestly man um I've been in a couple different systems every year I've been in a different system so um I think this is a mixture of a of a couple of them and you know I'll be sliding in a little bit inside sliding out uh not as much dropping you know depending on how things go but you know I think it's um I think it's a simple transition you know I'm learning new things coach neelson is helping me out a lot he's a great teacher great coach and uh you know I'm just taking taking things taking things and strive right now Trevis it's an unbelievable opportunity I mean Josh and Trevor or Josh and Trayvon 27 and a half sacks but the guys coming off the bench only had three sacks last year in the reserve role so you know right now it appears you're you're right there you're the number three guy with a with with a great chance to uh to really help in that type of uh of aspect what does that mean you know it means a lot um I think the biggest thing for me is nothing is nothing is given everything is earned so you know I know everybody saying number three this that but you know I just got to take I got to go out there and take it you know last year I didn't have much I didn't have much results so you know being able to come in and work with Josh and Trayvon and Eric onet you know that that means a lot to me those guys have a very bright future and I'm I'm here to take what I can while I can you know last one for you um I mean just watching what happened here there's a lot of juice out here there's a lot of guys fighting for jobs uh it felt different to me than what I've seen here the last couple of years does this feel different from Chicago and Tennessee man the environment here is it's crazy man we work our tails off every day you know nobody's treated different everybody works hard um everybody's coached hard and you know just the energy and I think that comes from just the amount of preparation that we do man you know we're always bottled up up in the wa room or in class and it's like when we get out here is just you let things fly let things fly have a great offseason we'll see you in lat July yes sir thank you you too
