Shirley spoke out on Tuesday after his client was sentenced to death by a Florida judge for murdering two women moments after the czen Newsweek spoke exclusively with Shirley outside of the Lee County Justice Center courtroom as this 5year court ordeal finally accumulated in the death penalty for Wilson which his team will appeal okay now in June Wilson's jury voted 9 to3 in favor of the death penalty for Christine Melton's murder and 10 to2 in Diane Ruiz murder a new capital punishment law signed by Governor Ronda santz in April of 2023 says a jury does not need to be unanimous in their vote and only eight of 12 jurors are needed to recommend death it was kind of anticipated Shirley said on Tuesday about Judge Nick Thompson's ruling it was a 9-3 and a 10 Institute jury ruling months ago and it takes quite quite a bit of extra evidence in a spensive hearing to convince a judge to override a jury recommendation the unfortunate thing is we didn't have a lot of other information to provide to the court we gave what we have Wilson who has been notoriously you know just sitting there looking Stone faac so he's been notoriously stone-faced throughout Court proceedings and didn't show any emotion when he learned he would be put to death so the news Outlet asked Shirley if the convicted killer mured anything to his legal team after the ruling the lawyer replied no not at all I mean we've been discussing this with him for quite some time he understands the law he understands what it takes to override a jewelry recommendation now in an email last month Shirley told the news outlet that he also worked on the televised State versus Joseph zealer capital murder trial but he has never seen the very unusual Fan Fair surrounding Wilson's case on social media I never been of Janette donated $24,000 you know what I could do with $24,000 right now $24,000 and another anonymous donor donated $10,000 so you know where is Christine meltons and Diane Ruiz fundraiser you know why these same people that are spending all this money for him donating all this money for a murderer why they couldn't take that same money and donate it to the victims victims but you know what you can't tell people what to do with their money right okay so these are the same people I feel if you want to donate to a murderer I can't trust you I can't trust you but anyway it also says our donation campaign aims to raise funds to help save Wade Wilson and get him an affordable spe and specialized competent legal defense team to take over his case and appe his upcoming sentence on August 27th 2024 well that already happened he is sentenced to death you need to update your page since you want to make a campaign for a murderer this campaign is not a debate about innocence or guilt but about the right to a fair and objective trial H absolutely insane now Wilson's legal team made up of Shirley Lee Hollander and Wendy Perez immediately filed an appeal for his death sentence on Tuesday the appeal goes straight to the Florida Supreme Court but will be a long lengthy process now earlier this month judge Thompson denied a motion for Wilson to be acquitted or get a new trial for Melton's murder you know so there you have it when they asked about Wilson's tattoo covered face um which includes three ink SWAT stickers and a joker inspired Stitch smile surely confirmed Wilson was permitted to use makeup in attempt to cover them but the products were ultimately insufficient Mr Wilson created his appearance while in custody awaiting trial he has never expressed his reasons my colleague successfully argued for a procedure to cover up the tattoos however when that didn't work I attempted to use that to show his mental instability H wow and he also ask him about you know was he scared of way Wilson and they said Mr Wilson he's very intimidating but he also appreciates good representation you know and they that's all so I don't think they're scared of him but I know they
