Hello everybody. The start of the women's college basketball season is still several months away, but there's a player coming to Gainesville who has Florida Gators hoops fans fired up. She's mcdonald's all American Mira o'neill. Yes, the daughter of NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille o'neal. Ashley Gonzalez caught up with Gators head coach Kelly Ray Finley who explains why o'neal could be a game changer. Miara o'neill has been on Florida Gators women's head basketball coach Kelly Ra Finley's radar, her willingness to learn her eagerness to want to be the best, um and her ability to humbly approach what she's doing knowing that she's in a good environment. Um where, you know, if she just puts her best foot forward every day, she's gonna be a tremendous player o'neill had already committed to LSU, which is her dad's Shaquille o'neal's Alma mater. But Finley says after a few conversations with Miara, it was a no brainer to make the switch, her and her family, they're generous, they're thoughtful, they're kind, they're competitive. Um They're very, very smart. Finley says also it wasn't hard to sell the Florida Gators to o'neill. I think we're genuine. Uh We mean what we say, um, we have, uh a deep care and investment last season. Florida finished 11th in the Southeast conference with a 1616 overall record and 511 conference record. This season's team is a young one, but Coach Finley says they're putting in the work to prove they belong. They're really connected, they're great competitors, you know, just coming from watching them work out in the weight room, they're throwing mud balls and then sprinting and competing against each other. Her long term goal is to bring Florida its first women's basketball title. That's, it's all to ask and a lot of things have to go right in order for that to happen. And so, um, in that you need to have everybody on the same page, you know, pointed in the same direction, understanding what the ultimate mission and the ultimate goal is summer workouts are underweight for the Gators with their season to start in the fall.
