Intro what's going on YouTube this is sg1 sports and our projected record schedule preview series continues with the Michigan State Spartans before we get to 20124 let's look back at their schedule from 2023 so here was Michigan State's Previous Schedule schedule from last season of course they played Washington in the non-conference turned out to be a really tough game and they played Central Michigan and Richmond out of the Big 10 West this past season they had to play at Iowa obviously that was a really tough one at Minnesota they lost that game as well um so two tough games there against the West they did beat Nebraska so that was the good news against the west but of course you can throw all that out the window we have a new Big 10 no more divisions let's get to this 2024 schedule so here it is we're going to break it down starting with the Nonconference non-conference they'll play Florida Atlantic Prairie View A&M and on the road at Boston College uh that could be a big game for these two programs uh the winner of that one maybe they go on to have a pretty good season the loser could be a really really rough year so let's look at the home games again those non-conference games they have Ohio State at home Iowa at home Indiana Purdue and ruter so you look at Indiana Purdue ruter three potentially winnable games at home in the conference you add an FAU and Prairie View A&M their home schedule gives them a chance to get very close to bowl eligibility if they can win some of these games that I think will be winnable I'm not saying they're going to win but they're winnable games you look at the road schedule again there's Boston College and like I said that game is really going to set the tone I think for the season at Maryland at Oregon at Michigan at Illinois so all those games will be tough on the road uh you look at Illinois Boston College potentially games that they could win uh but overall you know it's not a horrible schedule really I mean again you look at having to play Oregon Michigan Ohio State that's obviously tough but no Penn State uh no USC uh you know it could be worse and the non-conference again is Schedule not too bad so they'll start with Florida Atlantic on August 31st and they'll play on the road at Maryland on the 7th so they actually play their first Big 10 conference game pretty early in the season that's going to be a tough one right there against Maryland but then prair viw A&M on the 14th and then there that then there's that game against Boston College September 21st so if they lose to Maryland but they win their other two non-conference games they're going into Boston College you win that game and you're three and one a three and one start gives them a chance again to have a pretty good season lose that game you're two- two and then you got to play Ohio State and Oregon back to back so Ohio State on the 28th and October the 5th on the road at Oregon that's that's one of the tougher back-to-backs I think in in all of college football right there they play Iowa after a byee at home and then after that it's on the road at Michigan so another tough back toback Iowa and Michigan that stretch right there from Ohio State to Michigan is really really tough they do get a bye in between there but that's not really going to help them much honestly maybe it gives them a chance to pull off an upset against Iowa but uh that that's again a very tough stretch they play Indiana on November 2nd at home then they get their second by bye before they close out the season and again if they can beat Indiana if they can maybe Beat Boston College Florida Atlantic payview A&M you've got a bye to set you up for these final three games games that they could potentially win at Illinois on the 16th Purdue on the 23rd and Ruckers on the 30th so yes the middle part of the schedule from Ohio State to Michigan those four games very very tough but you look at the first four games so some winnable games in there for sure and then the Final Four games so winnable games in there as well so you see how uh this schedule it's it's almost good for a team like this cuz look Michigan State's not going to go 9 and three or 10- two so that you know if you have four really tough games let's just get those out of the way in the middle of the season and and really focus on the first four games and the last four games that's really going to be the main part of the season for Michigan State that's going to determine what kind of season they have because again those games in the middle I don't really see them winning any of those anyways maybe Iowa but uh again a very tough middle of the schedule but a very nice start a very nice finish and if uh they can start well and end well could wind up being a a pretty good season for Michigan State in 2024 of course a very disappointing Predictions season for Michigan State at 4 and8 our projection had them at 5- seven I picked them to go 5- seven Aton was a little bit higher on this team they had him at six and six the over under was at 5 and a half so it felt to me like you could probably take that under again I I predicted him to go five and seven and the projection was was 5- seven and they went up at 4-8 so obviously that was the play there Athlon again I don't know why but they were a little bit higher on this team but let's get to the projections for this year again here's Schedule Breakdown the schedule and here's the scale that we use if it's under 20 over 80 those are games that are pretty much guaranteed wins or losses 20 to 29 71 to 80 games where I think the spread's going to be double digit you're going to have a pretty heavy favorite in those games 30 to 39 61 to 70 games where I think the spread will be much lower closer to a touchdown and games where you're going to have a favorite but they're not going to be huge favorite and then the 50-50 games will stay in the wide so for Michigan State uh you've got Prairie View A&M that's your one easy win pretty much a guaranteed win and so again we'll put that one in the green Florida Atlantic in the blue you know fa is not a terrible team at the group of five level Michigan state is is towards the bottom of the Big 10 so I think we can put this one in the blue I think Michigan State's probably favored by you know I don't know 16 points in this game just a random guess I don't know exactly where the spread will be uh you might can put this one in the green but again we're going to put that one in the blue and these are the games that Michigan State should absolutely win I I think you got Maryland and Iowa games where they're going to be about a touchdown Underdog you know Maryland I don't think's much better than Michigan State or going to be much better than Michigan State this year I do think uh they should be a little bit better but playing on the road especially that's why this one is not a 50-50 game I do think Maryland will be favored by seven or eight points and then Iowa it is at Michigan State but I think Iowa is going to be a good bit better than Michigan State and so I'm going to say this one will also be one of those games in the yellow again again a game where Michigan state will be about you know playing at home maybe they're a Sixpoint Underdog in this game Maryland may be closer to eight since it's on the road but uh those two games in the yellow again Michigan State could win but they figure to be a pretty clear Underdog and an even bigger Underdog against Ohio State and Michigan um I expect them to be double digit underdogs in these games these m games might even should be in the red especially Ohio State the only reason Ohio State it's not in the red it's because it's at home we're going to give Michigan State a slight chance in that game but it's going to be obviously very very tough Michigan is a rivalry game even though it's on the road I think the Orange is definitely where that one should be I don't think Michigan's going to be quite as good as as they were last year but Ohio State orange red kind of in between those two but we're going with the orange here and then Oregon is the game in the red this is a top tier team plus they play them on the road that's why it is in the red if Ohio state was on the road it would be in the red but because it's at home it's in the orange all right and then we've got the rest of the schedule really just 50-50 games you got Boston College on the road Indiana at Illinois Purdue and Ruckers these teams are all pretty much on the same level as Michigan State I think ruter is maybe a little bit above Michigan State but that game's at home that's why we've got it in the white that's a game that they have a a chance in playing at home even though I think they'll probably about field goal underdog if I had to guess they'll probably be a field goal Underdog against Boston College Indiana's really a tossup Illinois is really a tossup Purdue do maybe favor Michigan State in that one at home and then again maybe a three or four point Underdog against Ruckers but these are your 50-50 games the ones that could go either way so if they lose to Maryland Ohio State Oregon Iowa and Michigan that's already five losses they could only lose one of these games in the white uh obviously that is going to be very very tough to to be able to pull that off and get to a bowl game um if if they don't pull off an upset against maybe a Maryland or Iowa uh so the projection for them it is six and six so Record Projection it's barely getting to a bowl game and I I tell you what the number was actually 5.5 so we rounded it up to six and six but could very easily you know just just tweak one game maybe put Ohio State in the red and they're down to five- seven so five- seven six and six really in that range I don't know what the over under is but based off of our formula here uh I would expect it to probably be five and a half but yeah Michigan State maybe gets to a bowl game again the projections going to say that that between Maryland Ohio State Iowa and Michigan they're going to win maybe one maybe even two of those games and then you know if you win one of those you still have to go three and two in the 50/50 games that's why again it's really right in between five and seven and six and six uh with with these 5 50/50 games that could go either way because again the projection saying they're going to win two and a half of those five games so Michigan State projected at 6- six or 5- seven depending on how you want to look at it but we're going to round it up to six and six we love to get your thoughts on this team and what you think their records going to be let me know down in the comments below
