Right now. Flags in North Texas are at half staff, a solemn tribute for a fallen Dallas police officer and two other officers who were wounded Thursday night. In the line of duty officer, Darren Burks was rushed to Methodist Dallas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The two others were taken to Baylor Scott and white in Dallas, they're expected to survive their injuries. As you can see here, their colleagues gathered outside of the hospital in a massive showing of solidarity. Tonight, the Dallas police chief speaking out about the shooting saying that the gunman was targeting police chief, Eddie Garcia said the officers were quote, targeted for nothing more than the uniform they were wearing. The initial shooting happened outside of a community center. The other officers were injured when they responded and confronted the suspect in Oak Cliff. This is all left city leaders in Dallas, shaken and angry here with an officer with what information we have seemingly in the vehicle taking care of city business that connects to the safety of this city. It's just mind boggling that, that an incident like that would take place and that he was, in my words, murdered in the line of duty officers chased the suspect about 25 miles to Louisville where he was shot and killed on the highway.
