this is my review of JD Vance's book hillbilly elegy this was made into a movie on Netflix and I have seen the movie everything so far is in the movie it's also in the book but of course there's way more in the book this is his personal Memoir about growing up in um Kentucky and Ohio and Appalachian areas primarily amongst a poor community of people he has done a ton of research for this so there's been some discussion in you know the political realm about what whether or not he's correctly representing the people in Appalachia but I found it very compelling that it's so heavily researched there are citations in every chapter I would say almost in every paragraph at points and he weaves his personal story amidst the research so you know it's like a memoir but it's also like a non-fiction um case study so I'm I found it really interesting to read I always like to hear people's personal experiences and in my mind you know he doesn't need to represent all of appacha this is his story I've enjoyed reading it I do recommend it because I love to read non-fiction so this is a book that I like
