erling Holland you mentioned this season that he is not feeling any nles he's very well physically so how different do you see him uh considering his preparation especially in the preseason in this extended preseason uh with this huge B he has when no have nigles is not player so but uh yeah from the beginning so it's unbelievable I say you know the second goal and uh even the first you know in front of the goal is uh is something is something unique so so yeah but now like I said start every three days and of course then with this mindset that now he has everything he can do so the numbers is and you know the shortage with the numbers the games have played and the goals have scored so two goals three goal two go three goals so it's and yeah it's incredible belove not just for what he does on the pitch and I think this so important for him well ering congratulations on the win um it is a 3-1 victory in the end but was it more nervy at times than it had to be given how much you dominated the match I think first half we we dominated uh we could have scored several goals uh second half they they had the ball more and they had more chances uh but I don't care in the end we win and uh that's the most important thing nice summary of it I mean it was a dominant start to the match you of course scored the opener and then they find themselves back in the game through an on goal but if there is one man who City can rely on it is yourself look three goals today back-to-back hattrick seven goals in just three matches how do you assess your start to the season it's been quite good nine points and uh seven goals so cannot complain what's your favorite of the three goals uh like all three about the second one why because it's a great goal yeah they were all great goals to be honest um I wonder after scoring that hat trick last weekend um when you were on two goals today would you have been disappointed if you had ended the match with just two you know for yourself is it about hitting those Heights hat tricks regular on a regular basis no it's about winning games and uh that's what we did today as well so nine points out of three games is a is a great start and um that's my focus and just looking at the collective you mentioned it there is three wins from three um especially after Arsenal drop points your two points clear now um how please you with the start of the Season already yeah season is good uh but don't forget there's 35 games left so uh last thing I'm going to focus about is anyone else it's about taking game by game and to getting three points and to um don't think too much because that's no good thing for the brain enjoy the win thank you they were on the front foot Manchester City absolutely dominant in that game and they have someone like erling Harland who can convert those chances as well yeah easy icing on the cake I mean if you do look at moments in games you think about cudas when he goes through hits the the post and crossbar 22 might have been a completely different complexion on the game and West Ham the Ascend in the ascendancy but when you've got someone like Harland he just takes the stress out of every situation that third goal was all important he always just calmed himself finished it with a plum it was just a really important goal for him and it just just took the stuffing out of what West Ham were trying to do but right now it's been a great start for him maximum points pep guarda will be delighted and when you've got a player like Harland in the form that he's in he just gives you such a chance every single game because as I say I've never seen him look better and more confident I think it's his um we talk about goal scoring and the numbers are staggering absolutely amazing but it's his movement in in the box so when Bernardo Silva gets the ball earlier on and plays him through as as a Defender you've only got a split second to react and that's what the difference is his movement is so great and he's finishing as well the second one when he goes in he's in around in the Box Jamie talked half time about the defender should have shown him onto his right foot but it's the speed in which he does it what makes it so difficult and then the third one when he goes through we'll talk about it a little bit later it's just that confidence that's the sort of goal we saw when he was at Dortmund they played a bit of you know uh counterattacking football at times he would have that space to bend his run and as a as a Defender when when you're watching him there You' always tell you to keep your head on the swivel but he's so smart the way he gets himself on side and once you get into a race with him it's all over because he's that is that quick is how well first of all how quick he is but also how hard it is you said Keep Your Head on a swivel but just to to keep awareness of where he is because of that constant but that's why teams play in a low block because that is what Harland was known for running in behind and don't forget if you're facing the play this way and you're a Defender he's if he's already on a half turn and bending his run and makes run you've got to turn while he's going forward and cuz his acceleration and his pace is so good and it's finishing that's why teams don't go and play uh press Man City really high you know I I read something this week that Pep Guardiola said and and we we we look at Premier League players and you look at Harland and we think well he might be the finished article what actually can he do to improve but Pep's been talking this week about he's been doing his extra training he's been working on his touch working on his finishing and you can see that actually coming to fruition MH because the harder you work the luckier you get the you get that confidence repetition every single day you talk about Sportsmen that are at their best it's when they practice and practice makes perfect practice makes permanent all young players that are watching Harlem thinking oh yeah but he gets that pass but it's not just necessarily the pass that's perfect it's his first touch that enables him then to do to do what he does with his second touch and that's why I feel that there is an such an amount of confidence right now that he is really thriving in in a in a great moment and as I say last year of course he got goals but they didn't feel that they were coming as easier as what they are now he's got that balance and Poise and he's it feels like he's gliding around the pitch it be I can't wait to because we talk about moments in in in your career and and when you feel good and being in the sweet spot but right now it really looks like he's at that moment I heard one of the the gym LS in the Olympics talking about the fact they put in all the hard work to make it look effortless when they eventually go out and it feels as though that's what earling Harland is is doing for Manchester City and the team as as a whole but just to have him working in the way that he does Jamie said earlier on I think at halim we referred to his first two goals as as Beauty and the Beast so let's look at the let's look at the beauty first of all and and take a look at at har working in this one yeah well we we talk about the the movement anticipation sort of being under the front foot anticipating a mistake and then he's gone it's one touch and then it's a a cool finish but what makes it so great is how quick he's able to do that is see the Defenders there they not being able to set one touch and then it opens up his his body I mean it's just fantastic obviously a brilliant Ball by Bernardo Silva but it's the way he sort of moves around the ball to get it on his left foot I don't know if we can just take that back a little bit there in terms of his his movement as soon as the ball comes through just look at his his running pattern he runs around the ball to get it on his favored foot and that opens up the goal and it's just a delicate finish and it's just brilliant and we saw that that perfect ball from from Bernardo Silva as we see so often Jamie I know you love him as a as a player but how rewarding for him to know that it's earling harand I just think this guy it just keep your eye on him he doesn't he is one of those players that are just so unsung you know of course you need to lead an actor but you need the supporting car someone that's going to do the extra bit for you and that's exactly what he does because he will do he's a beautiful player on the ball but he will also go and do the rest of it look he's sniffing around pitar there again that he goes and presses him right now I've got the ball now I just take that back because once once he wins it like you're looking at it now he's got a split second to slide that ball between the lines harand now has already assessed the situation he knows that a chance if he gets it onto that beautiful left foot of his he can give me the ball but if he takes two three touches that chance has gone you can see mavra Panos is already going to come in by that time kilman comes in that space has gone but look how quickly he gets his head up and he passes it away bam straight away it kills the two center backs it gives Harland all the time in the world that he needs and that's why he is such an important player for this Manchester City side because he's he's he gives so much to the team he runs he chases but he's also got the Finesse and the passing ability of you know one of the best players in the world a dream he has the the Finesse the passing ability the work rate the movement and also Micah he has the the strength and that's what we saw in the in the second goal which Jamie is I think is why you were saying it was it was Beauty and the Beast one was about control and accuracy the other one was was about power yeah I mean M because you mentioned your halftime how pleased you were with there he is there we'll highlight him I think Rico Lewis because his role today especially in that first half you yeah just just in terms of they've had Kyle Walker and Kyle Walker sort of he comes inside and sort go with a three at the back with Rico Lewis he more goes into a center position and starts and and gets involved on on the attacks and it's just the weight of pass being in there and some people might think that's really simple but you have to be in that position his his feet are so quick lovely weight of ball and then it's a tremendous finish from what did you call it the Beast the Beast and I know he's ready to talk to us and I can't wait to hear what he thinks about his hat He Is We we pause our analysis of erling Holland's three goals by talking to the man himself erling Holland joins us now live from the London Stadium erling it is another hattrick for you but it's a first premier league away hatrick is that something that's nice to to tick off the list uh I didn't know that to be honest uh but uh I guess is a great thing and yeah and yeah I'm happy and uh of course three points is the most important thing so I'm happy I mean you you've said this since the the start of the Season that you feel really rested really ready you've been raring to go since the since the close season how are you feeling now that you're your three games in and it's going so well yeah I feel good uh I feel energized uh I had a long vacation and I had a long preseason so uh I'm feeling good and uh and uh the the years I've been here it's it's gone really quick and uh it's been going like buam Bam Bam so now I got a little bit rest in my body and in my feet and uh I feel really good now uh and um ready for more yeah and it it looks that way it looks as though you're rested and and relaxed does it feel different for you on the on the pitch this season I know you said that it's the first time you've started a season pretty much painfree and feeling this good yeah and uh and uh only footballers knows how important it is to to have a break and have a long enough break and uh and yeah in the end uh you need to like calm down your body and your mind because uh it's a long season and uh it's not as easy as everyone thinks but uh I'm happy to to start again and I'm feeling fresh and uh I feel good that's the most important thing I say it was a full repertoire today big man you got the a lovely cares go the second one you bludgeoned in and then the third one the little dink what was your favorite goal out of the three yeah I really like the the second goal I have to be honest I like all of them you know this but uh but the second one was uh was uh was lovely I'm not can you I'm hoping you can see these on the screen here just talk us through them yeah lovely ball from Rico and a perfect first touch and uh not a bad finish and this also a perfect ball and uh top finish why is it you like the the second one earling do you like that connection do you like that that feel of the of the power yeah and uh I like scoring these goals as well I like to shoot a bit hard sometimes as well not only easy shots so uh it's good to get a little bit of uh of power out of my body ER can I ask you about your movement for the third goal it was brilliant as a as a Defender it's really difficult to mark them situations how much do you practice that run in training or is that just something that's come naturally for you this is what Happ been doing I think my my whole life exactly this movement uh you know but normally we don't meet these kind of teams normally the teams drop much more um but obviously West Ham needed a goal and the the line was higher so uh so I had the chance to to go in behind uh and um for me this is a natural thing to to do this and to don't go off side so so I I haven't practiced for many years exactly this Pep Guardiola was talking this week about you doing extra training extra practice repetition is that something that you felt when you've come back this year you want to try and get even better yeah and uh I feel as I said I feel more refreshed I feel more energized uh so when you do that you can practice on things you want to become better on uh out of the training uh and uh and yeah I I feel good as I said and I want to become better uh and uh I'm happy ering you started off by saying it's it's important to get the win for the the team it's three wins from the the first three games City have looked fantastic already Arsenal dropped points earlier on today so one rivalers has already slipped up is it is it feeling look we're three games in I know I know we're three games in but we we can't they haven't slipped up yet yeah don't use these words please all right well they've dropped points already so far this this season um and and Manchester City continuing with that that 100% record purely from City's point of view it must be a very satisfying place to be and if not looking too far ahead yet yeah uh three games nine points uh this is a great start uh but again we don't uh let's not think too far here because there's uh potentially 70 games left of the this season uh without national team so uh let's just uh breathe a bit and take game by game I'll just go ask you a very serious question have you got your have you got your tickets yet for Oasis I think I need to make a call uh to both of them and plan something well can you make a call for us too we're just asking for friends only only for you only for you is ering really appreciate you talking to us thank you so much thank you guys thank you so much well done and look you you can understand that he he gets frustrated with those questions because every week it's you know why are you so brilliant why are Manchester City doing so well must be tough that question why are you so brilliant I'd really struggle with that one youan someone asking you that that hat trick it must be getting boring but it's it's it's a harder question to answer than how do you improve isn't it it's like how are you so consistently brilliant is a is a harder question to answer are you in you know are you looking to to win the title of course they're looking to to win the title what else is he is he going to say but it's because they are consistently getting the results consistently getting the performances consistently getting the goals you touched on something about his all round game didn't you Jamie and you thought it was a lot better I think because harand don't touch the ball so much every time he loses it we're criticizing him for that and he doesn't get involved but I think it's just go on do you think it's because we almost want to cuz he's pick pick holes in something because because of his goals and how many he scores we're looking okay well may bet if he added that as well is that maybe the well well obviously when he's getting compared to to the greats and you know his goal scoring record if you look at the likes of Messi and and Ronaldo obviously technically it was very good they not only scored goals but they assisted goals as well I think with Harland is different is a he's just a number nine I the only criticism I had of him last year was could he used his body a little bit more some sometimes the ball would go into him and it' bounce off him too easy um but that's the only really negative I see in his game and this season he started off so so well do you know what I really like though and I'm I'm a little bit old school with things like this where it sounds so basic but even he wants to get better even he wants cu the easy thing now in a modern day in an era where you know you after tra do you actually want to go and do some extras to make yourself better and go practice and master your craft because I hear I do hear a lot of stories about players as soon as training is finished right they get off they get in the car and they go home but the only way you're really going to improve and get to that level is by doing the extras all the great Center forwards that I played with they would spend half an hour after training they get a bag of balls get a goalkeeper repetition finishing getting used to that feel of the ball hitting the back of the net it's a great feeling for all Strikers I gets that in the games as well yeah but but you can see that the practice is is paying off and pep said because it must be a dream because instead of saying to a player like come come and do some extras when they want to dictate it and all of a sudden that gets infectious everyone else wants to do it and the young players in the academy see well if harland's doing that I'll start doing that and that's what it's about and that's what it really what it should be even at this age he wants to improve and you know the third goal and you touched on it Mich didn't you was a really important moment well yeah I I just talked about the uh the movement and I'll just stop it there if you look at Harland in this position there the center half can see him first of all his body position is all wrong it can see his number and his back but if we just run this on ever so slowly the way he just managing to get himself back on side he's facing the goal and there's only going to be one winner when we talk about Man City have I just pull this for they got players who can play them balls through this is why I probably hard thought he would get a lot more opportunities like this a lot of teams now going into the low block and once you get into a race like that terrific ball and then the confidence is booming and it's just a wonderful finish it's absolutely brilliant I just want to I I I'm I'm I just can't get my head around this I think I'm sure that's mavra Panos here that from a West H perspective when he goes and presses which is absolutely fine I don't understand why he pulls out of this challenge can you can you help me out here Michael because I there tackle what why don't you tackle what's he doing I I just think from a a defender's point of view there you know he's going with such Force he thinks if if he go for the ball he's probably going to get the man as well so he pulls out you're not allowed to tackle anymore well the way the the modern gate a day gamees going if you was a manager and you saw that you'd be disappoint it is a poor decision I agree with you are you saying it's it's just it's not that you're not allowed to T that it's it's harder to tackle and get the timing and the and the impact right in that one I I I think because of the speed in which he's running if we just run this on slowly here he he's running ever so quick and he's just mistimed it so he knows if he goes with the ball it could injure someone so he's decided to pull out of the tackle so he's made a mistake he's just got the timing wrong yeah okay I'll leave that with you um but that's this is a nice angle for the what you're talking about of ER harand because he's once he sees Nunes then pick up the ball it's a good piece of play that's when he then comes alive kilman is seen him behind we saw we've seen Messi do this for many years Ronaldo it's almost like they're just they're wait they preserving their energy and then once that ball then gets gets into his a good space now just want his like it's a slight foot pattern change but he just makes sure he gets himself on side as you say he can see maximilan kilman there so he's going to be in a perfect position to get on side if the par can get released there holds his run and then he's off it's perfect it's perfect Center forward play and then just thinks it over the goalkeeper it's it's delightful I think again on that from a defender's point of view you you're always going to look at at the ball so by the time he's he's looked to see where Harland is it's just too late and even despite the fact that Manchester city is getting into the the box so much more we don't see that goal that's muscle memory as he was saying there that one is is one that's that's just in there you talked Micah about the comparison between Messi and and Ronaldo and that's the sort of breath same breath that we we're talking about earling Harland in as you said he's a he's a number nine he's an out andout number nine and so you would expect his his goal scoring figures to stand up to them but they don't just stand up to Messi and Ronaldo he's surpassing them and if he carries on like this he would reach after the same number of games as as Messi and and Ronaldo have have played or same number as Ronaldo has played on5 career goals for erling harand that's the that's the projection if he carries on scoring at at this rate but if you look Messi and Ronaldo both picked up at around about this stage so that as well and they and they you know they're they're pretty well regarded the only thing I I will say because I know there a lot of people looking at an how can you compare harand to Messi and Ronaldo we're talking about purely goals this is just numbers purely numbers and goals because and and this is club and Country and the other thing we should say as well is that Norway haven't qualified for a couple of tournaments as well whereas Argentina Portugal they're sort of ever not not quite ever presence but they're they're usually there yeah I think um in terms of Messi we know what he can do in terms of goals and assists and the times he play up front on the right number 10 in them positions familiar with his work yes Ronaldo as well don't forget he started off as a Winger and then he matured in sort of goal scorer number nine movement in the box but in terms of numbers especially in the Premier League as well what Harland is producing now at his age is just staggering absolutely unbelievable in there is so sharp and in terms of the numbers what what what you shown us there there's no reason he can't surpass that because of as long as he stays injury free you always got to talk about injuries because if he plays in a team like Man City constantly creating chances for him he's going to get them opportunity to SC them got 263 goals in 3117 games if you just think about that for a second how difficult that is to do of course he's playing on a great side that create lots of chances for him but it is staggering it's staggering and it looks like you know you figure things out as you as you get older as well looking after yourself making sure you you know you eat correctly and and you'll prepare yourself ice baths and all these things that he speaks about regularly doing to just give himself that little bit of an edge yeah he's he's a phenomenon guy he's an an amazing player to watch and he's so different to the other two that you've mentioned and I don't think for one second we're going to compare their stars or anything like but an out and out goal scorer it's very hard is know to to think of anyone that's so as clinical and as has every single goal in the bag you you both mentioned there when we look at us looking for things to talk about because when he says he's working on stuff it's like well what what can that be what are those areas that he can improve on similarly with Manchester City they've got a 100% record they've just won five premier league title they going for five Premier League titles on the on the bounce and what we're we're looking for is ways in which they can possibly improve as they as they tend towards Perfection which is what Pep Guardiola wants them to do is one of them their vulnerability on the on the counter Micah just press uh that for J yeah um in in terms of Man City so last season they sort of conceded I think seven goals in a in a in a in a Counterattack and what what man city tried to do a lot of the time is have control in the in the middle of pitch when rodri's not playing obviously can see the difference and I just want to play on a little bit here they always want to get the ball back as soon as possible but if I can just highlight kovage just in there and his ghost friend and his ghost friend he's jumped out way too early we just clear that we talk about leaving the space in here when we talk about the sort of what's going on there Jam um I think I just complete the just complete complete the square there man I'll complete Square in terms of we talk about the mid block and we talking about breaking the lines now man city at times leave themsel to exposed because they have too many men forward at a particular time and this area in the middle of the pitch really is exposed kovage goes too early and now you see Man City okay they got four at the back but on the counter attack you got midfields running back where they want to be and in this particular case and we'll see on this one here Diaz position Bo does ever so well but you just see Diaz here let's get this right perfect he's got his hands behind his back so he can't move the his feet in the way if he had his hands and you was talking about the the rules Jamie yeah yeah keep I ask you I want to ask you a question a second in terms of now his his movement is like that which now he can't move his feet the way he wants to move his feet and he ends up just coming off off the shin what do you want to say jam well I just I feel with the way that the the hand ball ruling over the over this last 10 years has created something and probably one of the worst things that I've seen in defense in defending for a long time and that's this and I get why Defenders have done it it's been when they put their hands behind their back I just it's so uncomfortable to watch because you're never taught as a as a kid or to defend with your arms behind your back you need your balance the New Direction the directives from from the from the referees now are that as long as as you are in a natural position when I say natural when and this is what I think they have to understand is if you're defending and your arms are there if my arms go above at the proximity of my body of course you make yourself bigger that's a problem but I think now with Diaz it's almost become something that he's done for so long that he he can't get out of that so really you know it's something that I hope will be eradicated out the game because it just looks terrible you know it's not it's because you've had to but if he as long as you get your arms in a in a in a natural position as Micah says when you're defending a cross that just looks you know hopefully that will start to we'll see that ease out of the game you like because it's not natural and it's not football as we know it yeah you see his arms sort of start to to drift and he brings it in as soon as he remembers I I wanted to ask you Micah about Manchester City and their vulnerability vulnerability on the counter and even with rodri coming back in which will will make a difference to that do you think that Guardiola is more tempted to take that risk because he knows that they've got goals almost guaranteed with earling Harland and particularly with the the form he's in at the moment well he won't be happy with the the way to concede that goal but in answer question yes the answer is yes it's risk vers reward he wants to control in the Midfield he knows at times people are going to break break them lines but when you've got the quality on the opposite end of the field field to score goals that's the risk you take like man city can't be brilliant at everything they have to concede goals somehow I just think on this particular moment ktic went too soon it's all about the timing well then cudas his chance when cudas hits the that that's they're in their own box West stand but they somehow they managed to escape and get them hit on the counter but they press so high you are going to get at times you are going to get exposed and once they get Rod back in he's not a bad is he yeah should really sort that out as far as Manchester City how many forid dominates Midfield will be the team that controls the flow of the game and that for me is the area that's key [Music] today fore spee [Music] [Music] spe for for Char Char wait for for for for looke foree we have it good of fore spee the
