hey there I'm chief meteorologist Jason Smith with an update a deep dive here on what's happening with Francine it is a situation bringing hurricane conditions to Southeastern Louisiana and Central Louisiana hurricane warnings there we are under tropical storm warning we expect tropical storm conditions here we're not going to get a hurricane type situation developing for mobille County Balwin County and the west side of the area in our Mississippi counties but we could see some winds up to 40 we're going to see Tides above normal we're going to see heavy rain and we could see some isolated tornado so the statistics as of 600 p.m. a 90 mph category 1 winds actually jumped up to 100 briefly at landfall but now it's beginning to see the signs of it weakening some and we'll see a lot of this going through time it's going to fall apart quickly because it's in interact with a trough and there's going to be a lot of dry air and Shear within the system looking at the futurecast model we expect the most intense weather in our area later this evening 10: p.m. through midnight some heavy rainbands in the area drier air will be coming in and that could limit the thunderstorms especially tomorrow morning this is 8:45 we may actually be done with the significant Rain by Daybreak tomorrow morning but we will not be done with the storm Tides because we're actually going to see those higher than normal Tides coming in tomorrow morning on top of the astronomical high tide there going to be a little delay to the coastal flooding situation and uh looking at it it'll head up into the Midsouth and stall there we don't see it coming coming back our way or anything like that Peak winds uh probably around 9900 p.m. to 10 p.m. with that first band of rain coming in the core of the storm may be pretty much right over New Orleans based on what this model is suggesting still a lot of wind especially near the beaches as of midnight and while the tropical storm force winds may wne a little at day break we still see a strong onshore flow and generally a south wind so that's why the water may still be ping up in our area places like the causeway the Dolphin Island Causeway the West End uh beaches as well as the shell Bel Road area B battery and dog river near the mouth also looking at possible flooding we have a tornado watch it may be extended and you can check our Foxon weather out for the latest information because when a tropel system makes landfall it creates conditions favorable for week spin up brief tornadoes and we could see some of those in our area this evening we also had our Coastal flood warning it's actually a storm surge warning for Jackson County Mississippi but we have a coastal flood warning for our area with a moderate coastal flooding event expected in Mobile County and bwin County especially tomorrow morning so storm tracker alert mode continues for tomorrow morning and then it gets better by the afternoon Friday looks beautiful as well as the weekend rain chances stay low daytime highs get back up in the upper 80s and the nights look Pleasant so we're expecting better weather in your extended forecast we'll continue to track Francine on Fox 10 News we'll be on at 9 :00 as well as at 10:00 and we'll keep a crew here overnight too monstering conditions
