Well, good afternoon and thank you so much for tuning in. I'm Leslie Spoon. Even though tropical storm Alberto is about 700 miles away from New Orleans. Our coastal communities are feeling some impacts from the storm. Lee mcneil takes us to Saint Bernard Parish where some highways were flooded. The outer bands of tropical storm Alberto has brought wind gusts and coastal flooding to places like Shell Beach where I am right now. You can see this is a boat launch area but the water is peaking up right alongside the highway where you can see the docking post poking up out of the water rising water levels are sticking around in some spots around Shell Beach further along Hopedale highway, makeshift cement posts and rope blocked off. Another boating launch as water was just a few feet away from the road about a quarter mile away on Wykowski highway. You could barely make out where this driveway started and ended in front of this home, but there were signs of water was receding water on L A 46 continues to retreat back into the canals. As the majority of the road is now clear. It's a big difference from where it was 12 hours ago when there was almost a foot of water covering the roads. A checkpoint coming in on L A 46 and Highway 300. We have the Sheriff's Department out there just warning the vehicles, you know, to be careful going down, uh, keep your eyes on the highway markers to keep you on a highways and not run off into the canal. Now, this flooding is not out of the ordinary for folks who live and work here in Shell Beach. Nonetheless, parish officials want everyone to take caution because that coastal flooding warning will not expire until four o'clock this afternoon. Reporting in Shell Beach, Leah mcneil Wwl, Louisiana. That's right. Here we go. Grand Isle saw some flooding to police chief Christopher Hernandez says they brought in extra pumps to get water off the roads. He expects it to be cleared out by tomorrow morning and we're checking in with meteorologists, Alexa Trisler. He expects that to be cleared out by tomorrow morning. Is that pretty much the same thing for all of our coastal communities? Basically? Yes. So today we're still dealing with the coastal flooding Shelby. It's particularly bad Grand Isle. We have the standing water, but today, this is probably the worst that we'll see it. It was even worse yesterday. So the good news is, it is a little bit better today, yesterday was the worst of it. We're gonna continue to see improving conditions today. And tomorrow, tomorrow, during the morning, high tide, we could see another round of your coastal flooding. It's not gonna be again as bad tomorrow. And then we get into the weekend and we'll probably be done with the coastal flooding. But there is a coastal flood warning in effect today until 4 p.m. particularly for Saint Bernard parish, our western uh parts of Lake Mori Po Lake Pontchartrain, anywhere from 1 to 3 ft above normal high tide expected early this afternoon. So make sure you drive carefully again. We'll continue to see minor coastal flooding possible again tomorrow during the high tide cycle and that'll be about it. But luckily our winds will start to decrease tomorrow. It is still a bit breezy. Right now, we'll continue to keep slightly breezy weather with us. Winds still sustained from the east around 10 to 15 MPH. Gusting over 20 MPH right now at the airport in Kenner. Also, we are dealing with just a couple little light spotty showers moving from east to west as well. So most of those spotty showers really localized and on the South shore. So don't be surprised if you get some little sprinkles and passing showers on your Thursday afternoon. Tropical storm Alberto has weakened down to a tropical depression, so it's gonna continue to weaken as it moves into Mexico. It made landfall in northeastern Mexico earlier this morning. And by later tonight, it should have completely dissipated as it moves into the higher terrain. But still Mexico, seeing quite a bit of rain as for us, the rest of today, temperatures will be in the upper eighties. It will be warm and humid with mostly cloudy skies and a few showers. We'll talk more about your weekend forecast in a bit. Alexa. Thank you.
