Penn State S Jaylen Reed Talks Big Performance at West Virginia, Ft. James Franklin

I I'm I'm hard on myself you know I I have a real big standard for myself I mean I didn't heard it like five six times that you were flashing all over the field early in that game it was impressive to watch I mean it was it was you looked like you were running at a different speed than everybody else on the field at the beginning it was impressive I mean yeah that that right there yeah how how was it kind of this this first game in this defense as the lion kind of something different than what we've seen these past two years um it was it was different for me you know I didn't play that pos position since high school you know and one thing I just said I was going to focus on like Franklin just said I was I'm going to run to the ball at all times you know I'm going to give full effort that was just one thing I was hurting myself on and I piggy back on what you say how I feel like I played I feel like I played well but I like I said my standard for myself you know I always got high standards I mean I play good but my standard I don't think I played up to it I missed probably one two one or two tackles but that's just me personally so we saw Drew jump up after a couple of his his first down runs give the first down sign we we haven't seen that from him before is that what Drew been doing that a lot in practice we be mad in practice cuz we can't touch him but you know I mean I'm happy for him you know he's starting to create trying to create more explosive plays in Another Part of his game without his arm you know everybody think he just can throw throw throw and you've seen today he made plays with his feet and I'm happy for him what's it like having your quarterback carry himself like that it's great that's that's that that's championship team right there you know when your quarterback got swag like that it's crazy you know I'm telling you that's how like a lot of teams win a championship like that when your quarterback is a leader that means everything appreciate jayen for sure uh Jaylen you mentioned that having such a high standard for yourself and that that's obviously helped you a lot and could continue to help you but how do you balance being hard on yourself uh working to fix uh what you feel you did wrong versus enjoying um a great day overall like today no no no don't get it wrong I enjoy every game know no I wasn't saying that you don't I I was just wondering what the balance was so it's it's more so of a it's always something you can get better at in football you know in football it's never it's never 100% game you know and I just I always take that mindset because I'm my me me personally for my own individual goals I'm trying to make it to the next level and at the next level that's a huge part of the proces so so this was obviously a huge game for West Virginia the biggest game many felt in five plus years do you take extra satisfaction in kind of reigning on an opposing teams parade in their house uh the way you guys did today um no not really you know I I treat every away game the same you know I don't really me personally you asking me so I don't really feed into none of that I don't got Twitter I'm not logged in Instagram so it's like it's different you know I don't really feed into that I just take each game is each game is a regular game and then it's the next game you said Rogue game it's 40 days till you hit the Rog wrot again what are your thoughts this yeah yeah what do you think about that see that's how you know I don't pay attention I don't I mean that it's cool you know it's always fun to playing Beaver and everybody not ready to playing Beaver you know so that's going to be a good thing okay for sure
